Family First - Noel Radley
[Music] i'm noelle radley and i am a advisory consultant at crossfields and i've worked here for about nine months i have really felt that i have been supported the whole time i've been here when i'm on my projects or um you know working working on things for the company when i have been here just a few months my mother-in-law moved to be with us and she was with us for about five or six months before she passed away and that was really wonderful we had that time with her and um you know i was um it was at the new year when i was looking at having to take some time off to when uh that she had gone crossviews had just instituted a family first policy that gave um folks um two weeks of bereavement leave which meaning you know if you have an immediate family member a parent or a child god forbid or you know a close family member that you could utilize that time off when you're going through something like that and you you didn't know you had that available that time to help your family um it is it's a it's a really significant thing really help not just practically helpful but it really you know helped me understand that crossfuse is doing what's right for its people it's doing things that are humane and helpful to its people so that we can show up at work and be our best i i tell people at work just remember what a supportive environment this is i i'm using the word supportive a lot because i want our teams to understand even if it's you know kind of crazy on the day to day and we're working on a lot of things at the core we are supported we are we are in a supportive organization and i think you can lose sight of that um but i've seen i've seen it in our management i've seen it in our leadership and i've seen it from the people who i'm on teams with that we are we are supported here it's not the only reason i love working here but it's a very important reason why i love working here i wrote to my manager and um you know let them know what was happening and then i wrote to hr to let them know i was going to take some leave because i think that in the past you you had like you know the company offered like three days which is very customary i mean that's what most companies give we were in the middle of kind of i was kind of trying to plan how i was gonna fit it into going traveling where we had to travel to and everything for her um her memorial and then i got an email back and said and it said you know we have this new policy and you're going to benefit from it and i took i took a whole week right as we were doing her memorial and planning it and that was really good because we could plan and my husband and i were there and to plan and then um then i took half days the week i came back which to me that was a way to ease back into work um you know i wasn't in a situation where i was overwhelmed with grief or anything like that but um definitely we have been going through a lot as a family and it felt really nice to just step back into work in a way that was kind of um easing back in [Music] and and then i found by the end of a half day i was really tired you know because we've just been going through a lot and so to have that time to um just heal rest when you're going through something stressful a stressful life event um i mean i hope it doesn't happen to anybody but it's just a sign of you know what the company will do for you if you're having a hard time [Music] you
