Honoring Black History Month and Practicing Wellness
my wellness journey started about 10 years ago when the majority of my father's side of the family were diagnosed with diabetes i started looking into nutrition i also realized that there was so much more to wellness than in a healthy lifestyle than just what you eat i believe wellness is well-being if you take care of your body your body is going to take care of you i like to do some exercise like to go on hikes where i live in the east bay so i'm outdoors as much as possible well i think taking care of ourselves during this pandemic is something we all had to learn i love doing embroidery because it brings me to this place where i can literally disconnect from everything some of the things that i was struggling with mentally physically emotionally was actually because of i had a pretty unhealthy lifestyle and i realized that in order for me to feel completely whole and healthy that i needed my mind my spirit and my soul to be well music is really important to me and i found that that helps me just to connect with myself servicenow always had a healthy appetite for diversity inclusion and belonging that was rich and authentic but there were some pieces that were missing as it relates to community when servicenow implemented belonging groups here we had an opportunity to find those communities i think that sense of community is well-being i usually try not to mix my life too much with my work which i serve is now happened and i'm not mad about it a lot of times because of the message and the sound that we hear coming out of the us there is the perception in europe especially that we've moved forward and that these experiences um are happening only across the pond and not not here as well and as much as the experiences might be a little bit different we also have had our own experiences of racism and trying to break through barriers it feels so good to have a community with which you can talk because i actually never had that before in my workplace it just feels good to be able to relate with people that have lived the same thing or similar experience and just realize that you're not alone we are making history right here right now and so much of our conversations unfortunately focuses on what has happened and we want to talk about what we're doing right here right now and why we are proud to be black let's talk about that
