Integrated Technology Management - Putting it All Together
[Music] welcome back to the Enterprise agility podcast I'm John Lim and today we're rejoined by Andy Jordan nusa Sharif and Adam Smith kons so talk to me Andy give me a quick recap of what we covered so far and how we're closing the loop this time we're going to talk a little bit about how service now can help you optimize your technology spend neate the risk we spent some time talking about some of the challenges that that organizations face and who needs to be accountable for this work now we're actually going to talk about how you can go from the current challenges that you might be experiencing to a fully integrated fully aligned effective and efficient organization and clearly that doesn't happen overnight it's going to be a journey so um without me sort of speculating anymore I'm just going to hand it over to Adam and say Adam how can organizations optimize their technology spend and mitigate their risk thanks Andy um when I was thinking about this I was thinking about when I worked with product advisory councils and I remember working with um with all of these these different companies and many times what it came down to is they want a partner they want somebody who can they can work with in order to figure out what that road map looks like because their jobs depend on it um what if they can walk into the meeting and say Here's what we're going to do next and here's how we're going to do it and how long it's going to take it's very important for what they do in their careers and so it's important to be able to take companies through a maturity model where they can go from one stage to the other and do it in such a way that it's very easy to see and very e easy to follow and so we have uh kind of a three-stage or three phase uh maturity model that goes along with the solution and and the first side is consolidate we want to make sure that everything is one one place and then we want to be able to automate things and automate processes and automate those workflows between the teams as well as everything going on with assets and with u applications and then we want to be able to optimize all of that at uh at some point and and so we think we can squeeze all of those things into each stage but we focus on something each time and so it's important to have that uh to be able to move forward and when you do you can you can really um you can really optimize your spend and mitigate your risk so I'll pass it to nusa because I know she has a lot more detail on some of those things too sounds great Adam um and to add to what Adam mentioned service now with this maturity model that we have we bring these two teams together we want to make sure they have visibility access to all the data that are sitting on the now platform so they're leveraging their investment from the now platform and both teams have one Consolidated I would say one inventory of business applications software and Hardware that they can look at they can reduce redundancies they can make sure that um they are both teams are looking from the same clean data to make decisions about optimizing their cost um they also so also we talk about how they mitigate risk making sure that they are uh reducing the risk of non-compliant software and hardware and of course everything can goes through the endtoend life cycle management that we have so in the consolidate um I would say pillar they gain customers can gain reducing cost and mitigating risk next level is automation so in automation again both teams working towards the same goal they collaborate they have automation for a lot of tasks they are doing and making sure they are becoming more efficient in terms of um their deliverables and um in each step we are trying to gain that reducing cost and risk in each step of the way that we're going and in optim which is the last part of the maturity uh we are scaling these um achievements and making sure that um every task they're doing first of all is every deliverable they have they're doing is aligned to the goals of the company and then they can track achieving those and it's very easy for let's say an executive a CIO to see all of those um achievements and track them um on a road map can I jump in and just add one more thing there and that is that as we go through these phases that we we talked about being a good partner well there are business value assessments that we can do and there's multiple ones in each phase and so we would sit down with you and figure out which ones are most important to highlight and focus on and then be able to to zero in on those as we go through those processes making sure you hit your goals and be being able to to show that to your to your management as well so so it's a good process to take you through and and we've got it we got it ready for you to go so and I think that's critical right there it's not just about how do we get an organization to optimize it's about recognizing that every single activity in consolidate in automate and in optimize is helping the organization to improve it's helping to optimize the spend it's helping to mitigate the risk and the business value assessment is a way to demonstrate that and to help plan for the future activities because we can make sure that the Investments and the activities that are happening are the ones that are tied to the specific needs of the customer and I think that's what makes this process and and obviously the the solution with the now platform so much more effective is that it's not here's the solution you should put it in place it's okay here's the framework now let's work together as partners to figure out how we can use this in a way that works for your organization to achieve your business goals and if that sounds like something that you want to be a part of if you think that there are one or two dollars of your technology spend and one or two risks that maybe aren't optimized then reach out to service now more than happy to help you and start this journey towards Excellence so thanks everyone for joining us Nua Adam thank you so much for sharing your insights thank you
