Workflow Studio & Flow Designer - Live Coding Hour Hour - ServiceNow Developer Program

Import · Feb 13, 2024 · video

[Music] w [Music] hello everybody and welcome to live Cody happy hour the show brought to you by the service now developer program where we break down the newest features the newest tools and do so in a relaxed chill way to kind of un unwind from a nice long week typically we do this also with a beverage in hand so please don't use this as the gospel of how to develop but just kind of enjoy and uh roll the punches as we showcase you know kind of the more unpolished and more realistic side of building as well I am joined by some familiar yet phenomenal faces here today so before we dive into our drinks let's do a quick round of introductions I will start things out I am your host my name is Laura McManaman I am one of the developer Advocates alongside Chuck tamasi ear UK and Prana buot who is doing the very gracious task of behind the scenes doing all the switching at three o'clock in the morning his time so please give a huge amount of love in the chat for him for being such a great teammate I'll kick things off for the gentleman to my left Mr Daniel how are you today I am doing great how are you guys fantastic give us a little SPI about yourself oh sorry yeah yeah yeah it's live coding um I am Daniel I am a technical consultant with glide fast Consulting uh today I've got a menaa from Italy so I'm excited to try this one out oh hold up I didn't know we were doing drink oh are we are we are we not usually how it goes and I guess below me is uh llo Hey below Daniel is llo indeed um I work as a solution architect for dxt technology and Today's Show I have a Baltic Stout oh that's a cool well as CAD you mentioned that because this beer was picked out by my wife because of the L logo it's an owl so um we'll see um PR looks promising tastes prom promising so looking forward to heck yeah and I'll polish off the rest of the beverage options today I don't usually drink alcohol but after today's week I said why not and so today I am doing the Waka ebisu H sake I love sake it's my fave so I always try to rep it this is a hanono meaning that there is added Brewers alcohol and it has a relatively uh large amount of or small amount of rice shaved off so it's not like the the finest um Ebby sue the guy that's on the label is actually one of their gods of Good Fortune which we will need today because that was intentional um we are really taking this back into its real form because this is a what we call a real live coding appy hour today we have heard the comments of like hey you know we love the show but you know you still kind of plan some things out right we liked it when you did off the cuff stuff so I'm here to uh answer your prayers today because of all the intense planning around the up upcoming knowledge conference so quick shout out to the registration it is currently live uh we have not done a tremendous amount of planning for today's uh show on workflow Studio as well as flow designers so this will be what we call a true live coding happy hour now gentlemen have you seen any of the improvements made to flow designer and did you have a favorite from the list to start things out while I get my drink poured yes I'm actually looking at it right now and I think my favorite is like the the UI the new UI that comes along with I just it feel to me it feels a little bit snappier I'm not sure if anybody else gets that but to me like when you're clicking around and you're going in and out of flows it just feels better like just quicker in in general it is a new engine behind it so one of thep of things that were updated behind the scenes like you don't really see them uh there are like flow designer engines that power the product now it's on engine version three so you'll see this a lot in also flipping back and forth between the diagramming View and the normal like natural language view it's pretty seamless anymore so that's yeah because I remember like back when flow designer was just coming out it was like the clunkiness of it and it just made you not want to use it and now it's like night and day difference yeah I'm guilty of blaming conference Wi-Fi on the slowness of flow designer in the past I think we all and lasso do you have an have a Fame yeah I mean just um thinking of do you are I then just mentioned UI I was actually thinking the same today just just clicking around and in my PDI and I was this is so intuitive it just immediately it's it's not like you need time to get used to it it just makes sense from the first minute in my opinion but hard to pick a favorite I haven't had a chance for example to try out um the AI in flow designer yet um but I I really like these minor improvements as well like at additional features such as uh breaking out of the flow logic or returning to previous tabs and and also in decision Builder there are these little things just makes my life easier with copying decisions and decision tables and so on I don't want to spoil the whole show but um yeah I'm just R for Studio as such I think it's it's fantastic it it really um I think makes everyone's life so much easier absolutely so what I'm going to do is I'm going to move my streamyard video down so that we can see my whole screen and I'm going to have a little setup okay thank you so much pav so I wanted to First have like a basically like a scavenger hunt of features today what we're going to try to show as many of these as possible I also want to set the bar though that we're not doing now assist features uh currently they are not available on pdis there is a plan to hopefully change that in the future but for now I want to kind of showcase things that maybe you could follow along with as well and for audience members that don't know every ACM Under the Sun the service now has a hundred of them uh PD is refer to personal developer instances so you today can get a free instance of service now at developer. servicenow.com that you can play around with it's one of the best developer features I certainly have used it tremendously in the past to learn I bet these to and have as well so highly encourage that so a quick rundown uh workflow Studio that is the new uh interface kind of like the home if you do type in flow designer it'll take you to workflow studio now so you don't have to worry about remembering both nomenclatures um there are a few things regarding kind of safer editing of flows under redo I think I embarrassed to say like that's probably my favorite feature of Washington is just being able to undo the the you know Kaka that I've put into my own flows um as well as autosave so that having in your back pocket to save your progress is really nice go back too uh Keen viewers will remember this as a Vancouver feature it might have been adjusted and republished in Washington so we're gonna kind of showcase that today as well as well as the newest addition to the action list which is the ability to fire events this is really Monumental you could only do so via code before so having the ability just kind of or excuse me a custom action before but now you can do it intuitively through through the list of actions and a lot of cool stuff added to flow diagramming I don't know if we will make it all the way to proactive triggers we will do our best so let's dive straight into my little PDI so on a uh instance or your personal developer instance this will be your home and so like anything else you can dive into app engine studio uh to dive into this screen but we are not working out of app engine studio today we are working out of Flow Design ER so under all under the application navigator we are going to H let's let's examine workflow Studio first and then we'll come back to today's use case sound good yeah okay so typing in workflow Studio or flow designer will open up this new interface so couple of changes that I see right off the bat is the inclusion of processes and decision tables now in this new environment this was something that actually got a pretty big facelift in Vancouver as well did you happen to use this the Vancouver version I have not personally not too much but um I'm getting to like it actually so I'm a little bit late to that party I guess yeah I've used it uh a little bit myself very cool so in summary uh for older users of flow designer or maybe people that kind of wrote flow designer off you know flow designer came out around six years ago so maybe you haven't looked at it in quite a while this is the new homepage the homepage before was just a list of flows but now it really does a great job of consolidating pretty much everything quote unquote automation wise on the platform so here we've got processes so process automation designer processes your flows subflows actions and then decision tables as well I personally like the fact that it links uh where you left off that's probably the nicest feature because God knows that most flows on a system you never touch a lot of stuff comes out of box that's just standard you don't really touch it at all um and you can also see what teammates are doing this is a big shift from when I was a full-time service now developer everything was kind of made in the mind of just one person wearing many hats sadly but now it's really focused around the entity of a team so you can see exactly like obviously I'm the only one doing anything on my personal PDI but if others were doing things that would pop up here as well um also links too so if you need help they're embedded directly inside of it uh the operations tab is also something that's new I haven't spent a lot of time analyzing it especially for flows a flow operation seems to be all of the running instances of flows on an instance that seems to be it's I think it's the replacement for executions so um it's really cool um also showing processes now can we remove that uh that hide screen yeah at the bottom there yeah much well I clicked it and it did not go away it's a stubborn one ah interesting uh maybe not it's not letting me remove it it's not letting not letting you thank you for catch but yeah h no interesting I've actually haven't seen it until Daniel mentioned and hour that's all I can look now it's gonna ruin the whole stream guys no now we're just gonna yeah I can't remove it um and then Integrations so uh also you it showcases all of the active Integrations that you have so if you've purchased any or if you've configured any on your own they will also be appeared appearing here in also the status of them so maybe you've purchased them or downloaded them and they aren't set up it'll indicate that as well from your list of connections it's I I will always say it's always a little funny how certain Tabs are named things and then they're titled others so I apologize for the confusion because in reality these are all just Integrations from what I can see just a quick note uh on the Integrations if you go into view details it it also gives you the possibility to to look at the connections and credentials configured which uh it's not very visible here but I think yeah it it makes a huge difference exactly takes you immediate to the connection ales record yeah um um I work a with these U custom Spokes and um flow designer integration Hub and for me this is this is a big support IMM yeah I I um I really like how service now manages the connection credential aliases so having them now be within flow designer is just at least it's a couple clicks remove it's very nice um I do see a question in the audience I would love to address the irony of naming this workflow studio and there being no workflow so for uh bris bris doll I apologize if I'm mispronouncing your name that's what you're bringing up and you are correct uh it is called workflow Studio unfortunately workflows themselves will not be available on this platform and there are a couple reasons why so for developers that have kind of started developing on the service now platform in the last couple of years you might not be aware probably so though because they still exist in the vast majority of instances flow designer had a predecessor called workflow editor it was a phenomenally powerful in uh way of automating on the platform it just simply aged out um however a lot of our applications that even we release still have the Legacy workflows inside a lot of customers have developed some really powerful workflows over the years unfortunately because our company has moved ahead with flow designer um it we flow editor unfortunately reached its natural end so none of the new products will reflect any of the things that we have determined to be end of life so I apologize um I do see the irony in this of course so so for Daniel and lasso do you still use workflows or have you moved fully Beyond into flows themselves for myself I like yesterday I just recently had to uh migrate a workflow to a flow so um what was that how' it go oh it was it was a simple simple workflow but uh it's nice when you can move like an older process to the newer flow designer so yeah I I I am in workflow still moving things in and out and just updating old processes that uh need they need to stay in workflow for now until they can be upgraded over to flow designer so true I will say that people another common ask we get is for a automatic converter um it's something that customers have asked for a lot I encourage you to keep asking because a lot of times if there is a very highly requested feature it will be prioritized so if there are things that you would like to see help with that transition I encourage you to always reach out to our product team that they have a very strong history of listing so if anything um I would encourage you to do that as well so today's use case for testing out all these fun features I wanted to play around not with bot Butler that is actually something that we are planning for knowledge so keep out keep an eye out for uh what that could be for knowledge conference but today I thought we could do something fun you know we we haven't done a completely wild and crazy um a live coding happy hour in quite a bit and so I wanted your help with a app that I use so gentlemen I am highly highly requesting you to help me automate my Pokemon sleep application so do either of you or anyone in the audience know what in the world I am talking about if anything I will explain anyone no one you're you have to explain you're gonna have to explain it I'm so excited to teach you about a fun new game so this is not let me be clear this is not a Nintendo plug or or ad or anything like that is literally out of sheer desperation for a fun use case so oh pronab uses it awesome that makes me so happy so Pokemon sleep is a sleep tracking app that Pokemon company or game free came out with a couple months ago and it just tracks your sleep but if you sleep like quote unquote really good it gives you Pokemon so it incentivizes you to sleep restfully um and then you can collect Pokemon as you go and so there it's actually quite a sophisticated data structure for something so stupid um it has like eight tables wow well because you can you can cook for your Snorlax and that attracts rare Pokemon so um I figured that for some we of this data we could automate something right there's got to be something so first of all um doesn't it track your sleep uh yeah it's actually a very accurate sleep tracker I've I'm kind of humbled to say that it does incentivize me to go to sleep on time so if you need some form of incentive for sleeping on time might I suggest Pokemon sleep so one thing that you can do is um track your like the Sleep style so every Pokemon has a different type of sleep style and then a location where that sleep style could be found so a very simple flow I can think of is that when a sleep style is found it deletes the kind of checklist item to find it in that area so that's what we're gonna be just start just a nice Easy Flow to kind of start off with sound good hey Lauren can you zoom in a bit uh I'm pretty zoomed in already it greatly distorts oh wow I'm already at 125 um so anything larger than that will really corrupt the interface unfortunately unfortunately yeah sorry those highres monitors kind of really make uh live streaming the screen a little bit difficult so we are going to create a new flow so quick little pause here if you were creating a flow where now assist was enabled this would be a different screen so on my list little here build with now assist if now assist is enabled here you would have a text box that would allow you to basically describe the flow um Jing feay demonstrated this for us in Creator toolbox episode of um the Creator toolbox episode for flow designer so if you're wanting specifically to see the geni flow designer capabilities check out that live stream I'll link it in the description if you're watching this in the VOD um But be sure to check out there if that's what you're looking for so we are just going to call this the uh close out uh sleep uh style sleep style location uh no additional properties needed and we uh flow priority is something that came out in Vancouver that's actually pretty cool um if you're a company that runs a tremendous amount of flows and you want the ability for you know if one has taken too long for it to be paused and then resumed after the fact that's where flow priorities um can come into play so encourage you to check that out if you're interested now gentlemen uh couple of things to kind of cover here a couple new buttons these guys being the highlight of the day uh the undo and redo button something that serving us now in general is lacking and I'm loving seeing it in flow designer so not only can you create a bunch of stuff let's just kind of add in a bunch of you know Malarkey for now just to kind of showcase how it works and then we can go ahead and click undo it removes it undo and there it's gone so first test is the day it works out fun little fact on the Creator toolbox it did not so it's nice to see that the first patch uh fix that little tiny bug no the other thing that is kind of developed in tandem with these undo and redo buttons is the fact that it's Autos saving as you develop so I'm not sure if that's on by default because usually there's a little Cloud icon to indicate that it's Auto saving H let me let me add in something first just to say hey when a uh let's so our trigger for our flow so if you're if you're new to building flows there's basically two parts a trigger that turns on the flow and then a series of actions that happen as a result of it being turned on so for example in this case we are doing this when a sleep style so that's the one that's me checking which Pokemon I caught in the middle of the night uh which sleep style and the condition will be when it's uh studied is uh become changes to true so I if I Mark the Sleep style as true this flow will kick off now I'm going to click done but I don't see any little Cloud icon but I do see that it has been saved so let me look at properties very fast CU I know that you can turn off and turn oh well that's quite fun did that just completely go nope it's right here okay good thank god well this is a great test of hey a great natural test of autosave so uh it was a little unpredictable there but good to know that autosave does in fact work now another thing uh that was heavily Improv approved over the last two releases is the diagramming view so um one kind of one offering of piece to the large amount of people that still really really love and value workflow editor is creating a view of flow designer that more closely resembled workflow editor and it was this diagramming view um so you can now see that a massive change to it is that it reflects the natural language that is reflected in the in the uh this you so where it actually types out what you are configuring it now does that in the actual um diagramming view to it didn't do that before it just had like the big part and then you had to click into it to see what it was doing so that has been added as well as annotation so I'm going to add an annotation which just says um when I'm not add I think maybe you have to go to edit mode a so we're going to go ahead and say uh when I Mark a Pokemon sleep style as found going to click done and that will be reflected as an annotation also an annotation in the other view so uh this is what Danel was reflecting on like how it's acting better it is so flipflop between these that quickly was not a uh could not happen before so also the undo redo Works in both view so there goes the annotation nice to see that working um so I'm just double checking my little listy here I'll just bold the ones that we have done um let's try well one thing I also want to look up is events so gentlemen do you deal a lot with service now events and if so can you communicate where they are most valuably used I personally mostly have to deal with events when we want to fire notifications based on some very specific criteria um yeah and traditionally yeah that's the same thing for me like with specific criteria for notifications that's when I use mostly USE events very cool so how uh so just just so everyone is clear um uh what is the difference between triggering a notification off an event versus doing like a notification here from flow designer for example so basically when we fire an event we pass in a bunch of parameters we want our notification record we still have notification record right and we want our notification record to consume those parameters and and use that so and these can be dynamic um I mean one one recent example I had was we had to create a notification for um whenever the record gets updated certain fields on the record gets updated but but that's a list of fields but not not just any field right so we had to monitor those fields and um and we fired an event and as part of the parameters we we told the notification record what got changed what's the value what's the previous value even and then you can just use that go yeah if you fire a notification from flow designer It's Kind it's I mean you still have a load of options and uh I guess for the majority of notifications use your real life scenarios it's enough um but not always yeah yeah so it is also just like a much more minimal like to be honest like app engine is design or app engine studio is still like the low code environment right so there's always going to be options to for the pro coders like Daniel and llo to like really take off and and shine and going into these much more complex um artifacts allows them to do that too so um a lot of these not only have a capacity to like utilize code and things like that but like he said have the capacity to be much more conditional too like the ones in you can you can trigger emails and notifications from flow designer but they are pretty cookie C you know what I mean anyone in the audience also use uh any events and I'm always curious because events especially when I was in SC were always almost exclusively for emails but sometimes people use them for other things I'm just I'm always curious about that type of stuff so let's showcase how you can fire an event so beforehand if you wanted to trigger an event from flow designer you had to create a custom action so all these actions here are out of the box you can create custom ones it's not entirely you know that complicated but uh you it's a it's a proc coding skill like you have to understand the what's actually happening behind the scenes um so having the ability to kind of anytime have a interface like this is always it always democratizes who can utilize them so for example if we want to assign a specific event like this approval I don't know just for the sake of argument this and attach it to our trigger record so our sleep style our sleep style table oh I just I just threw in the wrong bucket and then you can add your parameters so that's what llo was saying so now you can not only have the event but also attach the necessary parameters to what you are trying to build so that's pretty Dar cool but we we are going to do is I'm trying to think of a use case to do the go back to again I'm trying to think I mean this disapproval rejected is maybe a good one one of your why you just used for the um for the fire rewind one yeah true approval is rejected then go back and I don't know do another L up or make another decision or something okay I'm down to try that so what we're going to do is we're gonna ask for an approval so let's say I've now changed this okay let's say I've I've I've confirmed so usually so when you do Pokemon sleep if you've SE so each Pokemon has four sleep Styles and they're in increasingly rare to find and so it takes a little photo so maybe it needs photographic evidence that I have in fact found the Sleep style so it's going to ask for an approval of our sleep style record um it does not have an approval field um oopsies well we'll just say we'll just skip over that click done so after the approval what why is it mad at me approve when oh anyone approves done uh we are going to then Gad and flow logic so again if you're new to flow designer flows ex exist as both actions so things being done on behalf of people and logic so different Pathways that can be followed I will argue flow logic is where um this interface really shines I think that the initial push back especially for flow designer for having multiple Pathways is at times a bit difficult in the written text form so if you're finding it a bit difficult to understand okay which path is this process taking flip it over to diagramming view it makes it very very easy so um let's go ahead and you know I'm going to challenge myself I never use diagramming but let's let's Lan into diagramming VI since we're talking about it we're going to add a piece of logic and that logic is going to be if it is rejected it's going to cycle back to a previous step so if um if the condition and now my knowledge of the diagramming view is exposed so maybe we flip back maybe flip back back to the other one just just for Comfort why not um like I said a real live coding happy ey for everyone to see uh we're going to say that well we never added in an approval field so actually let's do that really quickly that shouldn't be too hard so um or we can just say the approval State because the approval the approval itself is its own record so it technically doesn't need to be stored in that field correct it's up to your Pokemon tables really but when an approval is generated it's also its own entity correct yeah it is it is a separate record okay that's what I thought I was just double checking um so the approval status or state goodness yeah you're gonna want State here y State and we're going to say if it is rejected it's going to cycle back and do something else let's add in another step here just so it has something to go back to um we're going to go ahead not stage good Lord we're going to add in red guy right here we're going to update um a record we're going to update the Sleep style record and we're GNA say that uh let's say that its name is its name plus found or something simple like that there you go done okay so if it is rejected then now go back to I believe aha it is in the logic section so that was where I always got tripped up before is whether or not it was in the logic or in an action right I mean lot it makes sense for it to be in the log in the logic portion but because it's like physically doing something I always get a little confused um just to kind of call out what else is there so if else and just regular else are kind of the standard for any type of flow Logic for each uh that's really helpful if you have a collection of data so let's say that I look up a set of all users where their email is gmail.com for each of those you can just cycle through them and do something for every single one that you found uh do the following until I used very infamously at service now um quick story time so one of the apps that I built internally was for the management of of so one of our customers gives us tickets uh to help other customers in like in the area and establish a sense of community and so the person that worked on that account he basically became like a pseudo party planner as the result he's always managing these tickets and it was for a really nice venue too in Dallas and so I was like let me just build you an app that not only people can check in for these events but also it can bug them until they check in their people because that was something that people people would get these really nice tickets and then sometimes not show and so he wanted some like basically way of accountability right and so I made a workflow that did I basically belligerently emailed them until they did it and so uh first people got really mad and they're like oh my gosh you got so much spam I'm like well then check in your people dude I don't what to tell you you got a couple hundred dollars worth of tickets for free the least you can do is check in the people so if you want to be a a corporate fiend you can do that too um but go back to is what we're going to be using today so we're going to go back to step one and then we're going to click done and so now if it is rejected it will go back here I like how it's indicated by this little icon and also like let's play pretend that this is a much much much much longer flow if you hit the button it'll take you all the back way back to the top any questions thus far have I missed anything that in the chat recently I don't have the window up I think we're good think we're good awesome I do see a question of what is lasso drinking today from Matrix who came in a little bit late I don't mind repeat um it's a Baltic Stout thanks for the question nice that's my a very nice owl image uh as we established nice all right so let's so now I want to try something else this was something that I don't remember if it was so it was initially in the last store release of Vancouver but I think it actually came out in full availability in Washington and that is to create something as a oh unavail so it's to create basically all these and turn them into a subflow so subflows are really really helpful on service now um one question that we get a lot too is uh how many actions can I populate my flow with if you're asking that question you're probably not building the flow as well as you could because the the best practice is to not have aund action flow right that's that's kind of hard for people to read that's hard for people to manage and so the best practice is to kind of bundle them up either in things like decision table so a really common reason that workflows get really long is because it's a bunch of if El's right like it's like 25 of these of if this if else if else that um so one thing you can do to cut those out is decision tables those are phenomenal another thing that you can do though is subflows what are the difference subflow are just something that are kicked off by another flow sizewise they are exactly the same setup wise they are exactly the same they just don't have this trigger that's the only difference so one thing that we did to incentivize that behavior was make it so you can select act like logically usually the need for a subflow pops up after you've built the flow right that or at least that's what happened to me where I build something out I go man that's something that we could use elsewhere or that's something we could use in the future I should have made that into a subflow so now instead of having to rebuild the whole thing theoretically you should be able to just do it uh unfortunately I forgot that you can't do that when it has a go back to in the middle of it so um that's why I was like why is select multiple uh false well that is why so I am going to Nuke our lovely little go back to or actually let me just do the undo button huzzah another very fancy to Showcase this and so let's see how this goes so we're going to select multiple we're going to select all three of these and then this tiny little eel looking button man they really could have made that a bit bigger uh this says convert to subflow so let's see how this goes we're gonna call this Lauren's awesome that's a bad word to misspell a sflow uh this is also where you can build in input so it's not just selecting actions if you want to carry over specific inputs from the logic that's already occurred within this flow you can um have either of you utilized subflows heavily at your L of business oh yeah like you said is so this is actually where you want to start normally um yeah like and like just passing the information from your subflow back into your main flow is very intuitive as well nice so oh we'll ask eie Sue for some luck here and see if this works last time we did this live uh it was a big fat ill on my part so uh ah okay lighting fast this fantastic okay so Lauren's a subflow oh my gosh this makes me so happy um so now we have a subflow it carried over the appropriate actions it would showcase here any inputs that and and of course outputs as well that we were supplying back so that's the other thing too is that subflows don't have to be the last thing of your flow they can also pass back data to the main flow itself so you're not just reliant on it being um the end part you can have multiple ones and they can feedback the important information as well and it now shows Lauren's awesome sunflow how fantastic so um here's the real question because it created another physical entity What Will hitting undo do let's take bets what do we think hitting undo will do when it created a physical um record outside of outside of this should we guess I mean I think it's going to be fit I don't think it's gonna do anything I think it's gonna have a fit I think it's gonna have a little aneurism but we'll find out let's see because this again we're still in the EA period of Washington that's what makes these live coding happy hours so fun GA is not until quote unquote later we can't disclose when it is but it's not now um so all these are effectively us kind of pseudo beta testing the release as well so let's see if I click undo oh oh man so it brought back one thing got back one thing anything after the approval it was like no dog I can't do that so it didn't didn't even fill in the the correct information it's was like here you go you're just an update record it gave you the shell of my give be like the carcass of my of my update record but well that's good to know so hey uh so fun fact the UN now you best redo what happens oh another soft flip no it's gone it's dust it's Dust in the Wind nope well thank you Martin for the encouragement just it did change back to an update sleep style record it did oh that's fascinating okay from the spirit realm it found the table and Fields it needed but it's like no those that approval is is dead to us that's quite funny but this still exists so it didn't EXT because that was my question is will it exterminate the record of the subflow that we just created because this is a whole other entity now on service now um I gu the answer is no yeah that' be against everything sacred in service now they just delet it from from your screen and everywhere yeah just n yeah that's quite funny um another thing too is that the diagramming view for sunflow is a new I believe this is a Washington Improvement as well uh Maybe not maybe it was Vancouver uh but that is nice to see that that all works as well so quick question um where are we on time I don't not have a uh a watch in front of me how much time do we got left in our we have about 15 minutes left okay perfect um I don't know if we have enough time to go into proactive triggers um I will leave a a bit of a I guess a teaser for some upcoming content that proactive triggers exist as a means of triggering flows off of data within your reports so this is something that I personally this is probably I joke that unded is my favorite I would argue proactive uh proactive triggers has the most capacity for developer Improvement because not only now do you not have to like stay hawk-like vigilant over your work like dashboards and things but those can automatically trigger um a variety of things because because they're hecked up with flows so for example you can say due to this report if this piece of data at this time of day reaches this value do this that's phenomenally helpful like usually um I I don't even know how that would be done I mean I guess if it's being read in you could probably trigger something off of like um uh what's it called we just changed the name of it that's why I'm stumbling um anyway there was ways to do it before but this makes it a lot easier and kind of opens it up to low code development as well so let me see if it's even enabled on pdis I'm not quite sure um uh is it under proactive this would be a trigger oh thank thank you very good catch so the trigger would be on um it might not be enabled on a PDI by default because it's part of proactive insights which is a product damn okay well it's worth mentioning and it's something worth investigating in a future Creator toolbox so stay tuned for that um let me think is there anything else that we could kind of quickly show we could do try catch so try catch is a means of kind of like making sure that specific spefic edge cases are handled so for example if you wanted to try an integration and if it failed out do something else um that's a pretty common use for a TR catch block do y'all have y'all used TR catch in in flo or um I think it's been part of Flo since Tokyo but it's just now now available on um diagramming view yeah I think it's daron's maybe you to I'm not sure but honestly I haven't really maybe once or twice I'm I'm still or like using it in scripts but just yeah I'm the same I'm the same I'm definitely the same thing we need time to Evol as well so I uh let me see I don't I'm I'm trying to remember how to do this in this is Lauren learns diagramming View turned into it's FL oh that's that's interesting I will say zerus Now does not like a zoomed in interface it's like no make me make me small okay fine I'll make you small okay um try try so but where are my properties where where are my properties no you you I think you don't have anything there it's it's creates a new Branch basically doesn't it and you just add the actions on yeah so it would be like the integration information would happen in between and if an error occurred it would Branch out and if not it would just keep on moving into your other part of the flow correct that's my understanding of it okay so uh I I will say we have gotten a few fun comments of like why is true the one that branches off like usually it' be false um I don't know that's just how that's just how it's done on both sides so at least it's mirrored the same on both sides I will say that so at least it keeps it pretty um consistent with that said uh gentlemen are there any questions or comments about flows in general that you'd like to leave the crowd with before we do our kind of final drink review of the day just a quick mention since we were talking about try catch and the different branches so now you can also break out of these if else else if uh branches in flow designer which means certain conditions M and rest of the steps in that Branch are not going to be executed but your flow or suppl is just going to continue just like in scripting again just like with the try catch you can just break out of a loop I think it only works with with the for each and and your favorite one do the following until uh logic yeah but that's that's something that is that is also a great addition to flow designer in my opinion and I think the uh the addition of the fire event is great because now you can actually schedule because there's that there is that GS event Q scheduled but now that you can have the fire event in your flow designer and you have the schedule you can actually schedule people can actually schedule their events now through flow designer which is a great little feature to have as well and do it on a relative time basis too like 24 hours after exactly yeah yeah so yeah you can actually it that way but yeah that's that's nice it's also a lot easier to maintain and just look up you know what old events you might have scheduled just manage through F designer interesting also I will say probably The Unsung because I in sales we talked a lot too about like the values of flow designer and one thing that I think is is not talked about enough is that you can export them as a file right or that sounds stupid you could export them as an image right I think that flow designer one of its best strengths is that anyone can look at it and know exactly what's happening whether that is in the written view or the diagramming view a lot of other ways of automating things on different platforms or just code in general require like heavy annotations for people in business to understand or management to understand and so it kind of cuts out the middleman and it brings everyone in on the conversation um not even having to use things like process automation designer like just for flows um so one thing that I it's always like a best practice I do is like if you're ever uh working on developing flows and people are asking about them just send them a picture of it it's pretty easy to understand um and it's a good conversation tool for the logic too of your application uh one question I have is is it possible to broadcast to a flow the same way you could to a workflow I'm not quite sure what you mean by broadcast I don't know um I'll keep it I'll keep an eye on the chat in case you post post again Andre but I'm not quite sure what you mean by broadcast gentlemen I think it's time to give us a drink review So Daniel do you have a review um we always round up an extra point5 if we were successful I don't know how successful I was today if I'm being honest I mean we didn't completely fail on anything but we weren't hacking through a complete use case so use your best judgment on if we deserve the extra5 I don't know I what's the what's the rating out of let's say uh zero to five zero to five oh your undrinkable five absolute favorite let's go with uh three and a half okay very nice and that's the Italian wine or Italian that is a is a it is a beer a beer okay it is a beer but uh yeah it is a blonde in a Brea from Italy so yeah I was gonna say three and a half very cool lasso how about you yeah my um Baltic Style with a nice owl image is I would say solid four it's it's pretty good it's a little bit heavy but just just what I like so perfect oh the sake so I have not had uh I have not had this one before Waka eisu um I would definitely give this probably a four or 4.5 it's very tasty um it's designed to be drank cold typically um but I think it I think so usually so fun fact about sake if you're ever purchasing it on the back of the bottle they'll usually indicate what temperature range you should you should use it or um serve it at um this one however does not but fun fact I didn't know is that this is from the m prefecture which is where Ninjas are from so that's pretty cool fun fact fun little historical that's where a large portion of ninjas are from so thank you Ebie Su for the luck that you gave us today on showcasing the workflow studio and flow designer if you have any more interest in Washington content we have a we're about halfway through our content release cycle which is bizarre um where I mean today is March 1st thank you so much frof if you'd like to see the rest of our Washington cont content please go to Dev lake. snw Wasington or Washington DC um for that full list of what has already come out and what is yet to come another quick plug there is a humongous awesome conference less than 75 days away it's called the knowledge conference you will hear service now incessantly speak about it for the next 70 days or so it is a phenomenal feat that my team and a bunch of other teams cheaper it is that's what I always say so if it's 70 days to go you probably are gonna get still a pretty good discount any uh final thoughts gentlemen or places where everyone can find you if they'd like to reach out um nothing else from my side um I would say there's still a lot to discover in ver Studio obviously we didn't even look at decision tables and just proc these deserve their own sessions probably um if anyone wants to look me up I'm on LinkedIn um I think relatively easy to find llo B um and usually on SN slack you can you can find me with the same name llo easy to just uh just Bing me happy to connect with anyone yeah you can find you can also By Me on LinkedIn um but yeah I've been playing around with the process the the processes bit and I really like what the what what I've seen so far with that um I could say it does need its own little Channel as well um or or video as well yeah um but yeah it's it's very promising what I've what I've seen so far very cool are I remind me are either of you putting out content for for knowledge if so you can shout it out for knowledge me know okay well Ju Just as part of the MVP sessions uh but it's still early in the planning so um stay tuned for that nice stay tuned for MVP sessions um fun fact we just welcomed in an entire new class of MVPs so uh huge shout out to these guys there was uh so many awesome people
