Platform Analytics Academy - February 7th, 2024 - Getting Familiar with the In-Line Editor
[Music] welcome uh to platform analytics academy uh thank you for coming if you are a returner it's always great to see you see a lot of great names in there uh if this is your first time we welcome you as well hopefully you're able to get some really great things out of uh what we actually are going to share today and then going forward you'll come back for a minut minut more so with that quickly I'm going to go through some logistical information and then we'll get directly into the content so we'll have plenty of time to look at that we got a great demo for you today and and definitely want to get some Q&A and things of that nature in so with that as usual these are always for you that is the reason why we do them we try as hard as we can to bring fresh ideas and better understanding and practical guidance to everything that we offer from a platform analytics perspective uh this will be recorded it'll be out on the community later on today early tomorrow morning um and then also it'll be in on YouTube in our channels that we have there so you can definitely sit back enjoy watch take it all in uh you don't necessarily have to take notes because you'll be able to watch it again but if you choose to we totally understand that as well Q&A please ask questions please ask as many as you would like and then also make sure that you put those into the um Q&A rather than the actual chat because I do have others on the call that will Monitor and actually answer questions as well trying to promote one of them to panelists right now struggling with that that's GNA be bad if it doesn't work um but yeah ask all the questions ask questions that are relevant to the content that we're actually covering today uh and if we can answer them while we're actually doing the session we'll definitely do that if there's other questions that are unrelated to the content we have time at the end we'll try as hard as we can to get to those but if they're in the Q&A other people that are on the call May be able to do that uh answer those so real quickly uh Safe Harbor so everything that we're going to be showing you today is in Washington so uh there obviously will be some things out there that you know you'll see and uh maybe been on some calls prior to this because we've been talking a lot a great deal about this towards the end of last year and even um this year early the first session that we had this year so there there obviously are things that you're going to be able to see today so uh Safe Harbor make sure that you definitely keep that um in uh mind as we do this so my name is Thomas I'm going to be the host and presenter and then I also have ogga here as well she's going to do uh some printing presenting and also she's going to do some great demoing later if I can get her promoted um Dan I see that you're on if you can work at getting Olga promoted I'd greatly appreciate that um we do yeah thank you and then um as you can see Dan is here um Tara and Adam may or may not be here I think Adam will uh Tara may not uh but any one of these three will hopefully be here to uh work that panel or the Q&A for us and get those questions done so with that as I said today we're going to talk about getting familiar with the endline editor in the platform analytics experience so if this is your first time even hearing the phrase endline editor or platform analytics experience or anything like that uh this is going to be a really good session for you so this is a getting familiar it's not a um great Deep dive per se um with you know doing some really advanced things I guess you could say inside inside of the inline editor it really is um getting familiar and then the idea behind it is hopefully this can be a nice reference tool for you as you begin your journey or if you're already doing things that are inside of it it'll be an opportunity for you hopefully to learn some different things you know quite often um as with anything else there's many different items that are within menus and things of that nature and we get very comfortable with using the ones that we know uh and what we want to try to do today is as we look at the inline editor actually talk about all those different things that are there and what their purpose is so it maybe will encourage you to start using them or at least a light bul brain moment like oh I didn't know that that was what that was for I've been trying to figure out how to do something similar to that so hopefully as we go through this you'll be able to uh take some away from it and then we'll do a demo um a little bit after we'll have some small video demos that are actually embedded into the slide deck but then Olga is going to really get into a demo of actually you know creating a dashboard creating a uh adding a a data visualization two or three or four of those depending on how many she can get to adding a filter showing how those things work and things of that nature so again just sit back enjoy and um hopefully we'll give you some things that you can take away so there are obviously some reasons why we are at the point that we are at and why we encourage you to use the inline editor so now what I would tell you is that if you were around for um Tokyo Utah Vancouver if you're in any one of those you probably have seen what we're going to show you as called a platform analytics workspace so that is moving in Washington to now we actually have an analytics sitter and you'll see that here in a minute um but it really is about getting that allinone location for everything that is related to analytics so unified filters so this is something that has been asked for a very long time hey can how can we have multiple data visualizations with different sources and not have to have a old school interactive filter and also a breakdown now that unified filter is going to give you the ability to to change all of that data that's on your dashboard which is really really great I actually remember last year at knowledge if any of you were there and old and I actually did a session and I remember when when we talked about that and announced that the room kind of went uh kind of abrupt and very excited about that that's something that we've been talking about for a long time so uh unified for data visualization so improve that experience when creating D data visualization so now the same data visualization can use multiple different sources and we'll talk about that as well and at the end of the day it it is easier right it's easier as it look as it goes to configuring directly on the dashboard faster creation and configuration that is you know right there and then sharing sharing is so much easier there's uh and Olga may show a little bit of that later on in the demo but you know saving a data visualization to a library so other people can use it that's a way of sharing that information out there no need to share individual reports and things of that nature so there are really some key reasons of why we're trying to encourage um to use the endline editor especially if it's something brand new so it's a great idea if you're just creating a brand new dashboard um use the you know what you have in the analytics Center that you'll see in at platform analytics and create all of that information there so here you can see well how do I get to this so from a watching perspective all you need to type in is platform analytics and you'll see now that there's an analytics Center that now has the library dashboard data visualizations all those different things that are directly in there let me back that up so you can actually see it and pause it maybe there we go so you can see the library so that's anything that is saved dashboards all the different dashboards that you may have that you've created inside of the platform analytics experience uh and then any of those data visualizations kpis filters scheduled exports any of those type of things so it's all right now from Washington will all be inside of that analytics Center rather than having to go to multiple places to see all this information it's directly right into that now so next super simple Now to create a dashboard this is a small demo Olga's going to get into much deeper dive but when you go to dashboards super simple to create a dashboard now right you create it and then it takes you directly to that editor this is what the editor looks like if you have not seen it and um again you're going to be able to create and drag elements put elements directly onto the dashboard that you'll see here in a second and do all of this right in your your editor here so this is your space for uh everything as a Rel relates to that so one of the things that you maybe saw and and I want to make sure we talk about this is when we went to actually create the dashboard there was a couple different options right so inline editor and then technical editor and then of course the name and description what I did in that previous demo was I actually created an inline editor now that is where you need to be unless you are a developer if you're a developer in the sense of you need to do some scripting you need to do some really in-depth type things then that's probably when you'll want to go to the technical editor but if you are the one that are training up people within your organization to you know encourage them to start creating dashboards because anybody with you know an internal role can actually create a dashboard you're going to want to tell them the inline editor is where you need to be that tentacle editor is is strictly for developers you have to be familiar with the unified um Builder uib so if you're not uh familiar with that then the best thing to do is stay away from that now can you go to that to do those Advanced things absolutely and and if you're comfortable with that or even navigate your way through it you can definitely do that but I would say that if you're you're just talking to your standard users within your or the inline editors where they need to be and then also if they're going to use that technical editor then they would obvious obviously need the UI Builder admin role for that as well but again understanding between the two right inline editor is very what we want to call very simplistic super easy way for you to do everything that you need to do the technical editors when you want to get really deep if Advanced type devel developer type things is what you want to use that for um so I see a question came in will the technical editor not show up for no it's there for both ogga correct me if I'm wrong on that I mean when they go to create that it's there right it will not show up it's um if it's only if you have admin role or you Builder admin role then okay so it actually user they will never even see they will just okay great well that's even better right description and they don't know it exist oh okay well that's even better I probably saw it because I'm an admin within my instance so that's a great thing I appreciate the question Steve so uh hopefully that answered it for you so um yeah but just you know if any of those people have those particular roles then hopefully they have that role for a reason but if they have it and they're just kind of moving around in it then you know they just need just need to be aware of that type of information so let's see so what I want to try to do is again like I was um talking about earlier quite and there's a lot of different things that are on within something but do you really know what all of those things are so there is an info for the details of a dashboard and I quickly just want to talk about those because I think they're important to actually use so here you can see the the easy list of what all of those are so obviously the name is the name of whatever the dashboard is I think it's very important to use descriptions I've been a proponent of that for a very long time it helps the next person out when they go and look for something maybe something's already there they're not aware of uh certified which ogga may or may not speak to that is something that is really great now so that gives an opportunity when something is certified it gives an opportunity to inform the user that you know the dashboard is recommended for use across the organization so you do have to have the admin rooll in order to Mark a dashboard certified so keep that in mind uh dashboard visibility so View and add or remove workspaces in which the dashboard can be viewed so if you have other workspaces within the platform you can embed certain dashboards and visualizations within those so that will kind of uh let you know whereever it is if it's in multiple spots and then obviously specifying user information so you know the requested by so who who actually requested it by they would kind of quote unquote be the owner of that since they requested it they'd be the owner to understand that they're they're the responsible party of what's going to actually happen there they might not necessarily be the owner they could be somebody else that own it but I think the requested buy is a good place to put the person that's responsible for what actually is going to be uh on there and then of course you can you can um there can be an owner group so this is maybe a group that has been created and everybody within that group you know is uh has access to that um do you who created the dashboard quite often that's a question that I've heard many years in the past well actually who created that dashboard and if people weren't putting that in other methods that were out there here is a great way of actually seeing that and then also who's the last person that updated the dashboard so this is information that you can see and then down there under us should so if it's been shared with anybody you'll actually be able to see those names there um as well I see o is typing one so we don't need to do that one live do we faster um so the question what does it mean to make the dashboard certified what would be the criteria for this um so there's no technical criteria so as a dashboard admin you can certify every single dashboard the idea is more from the business standpoint your bi team AIT like more to help user to understand this is dashboard I can trust it's coming from the central Team all data on it is correct it's not just some person in the next department created it it's it's provide that it's official company dashboard it's just like away and because dashboard admin is the only uh role who has access to it you're sure that if it's marked um you can TRW this dashboard okay awesome thank you Olga so next what can you actually do uh when you go to actually create something so you can create a new dashboard uh super simple right it's self-explanatory create a new dashboard within it you can um edit so if there's a dashboard that you have that you're currently in you can definitely edit that uh share share gives you the ability to share the dashboard with other users groups and roles uh you can create a shared view of data that you can use to collaborate you know Grant viewing rights or both viewing and editing rights you can share a dashboard that you created you can share a dashboard that has been shared with you uh if sharing is allowed you have the right to edit a dashboard that has been shared with you you can pass that right along to whomever you share it with users with the admin or dashboard admin roll can share all dashboards uh printer friendly so you want to print a dashboard this is a great way for that uh dashboard to sort of be cleaned up a little bit so you can actually create a printer friendly copy of that and print that out um to copy from your browser if you choose to clear all filters is just what it's exactly what you would think it is so it it gives you the ability to remove all the filters on the dashboard from the filter component that we have uh clear filter so it's like going to all the filters and pressing pressing clear filter manually right it'll just do it all for you and it also if you if you have a chart that acts as a filter it would also remove that filter as well um add to bookmarks so if you have something that you want to book you want to bookmark a dashboard so other people can see it and find or you can see it and find it easily in the analytics Center you can do that uh open record is basically it gives admin the ability to open up that record directly in the par dashboard's table uh um where is the other one that had yeah we already talked about that and delete is just as you would think so if you want to delete that dashboard you can click on that button and definitely um delete that so looks like we have some that are answered uh there we'll keep moving on the sake of time so um when you go to actually create something right when you click on that add new element there's some different things there that you can actually do so the first one is a dashboard visualization right or or data visualization so that's when you actually want to create any type of visualization that we have that we'll talk about here in a little bit you click on that it'll add that over uh to the editor and onto the dashboard and then you can actually start adding things into that data visualization filter if you want to add a filter you would click on that uh heading if there's a heading information that you'd like to have on your dashboard you can do that you can add a simple list uh I'm sorry let's go back you can add an image so if there's an image that you want to put onto the dashboard you can add that if there's a simple list that you want to do that shows table data you can do that and customize that dashboard for the dashboard uh audience and then Rich Tex so this gives you ability to add elements that hold text that you can format either either as text or as HTML including font selection text size highlighting highlighting and hyperlinks and things of that nature so that's what you can actually add to the different dashboards I guess I could have clicked on those so next is how do you add a data visualization so here you can see just clicked on that new visualization and boom it's added that simple and you can go and you can actually edit it's kind of repeating here but then after you've edited it you can actually go and let me back that up just a little bit here over here is where you'll actually go and do all the editing for that data visualization directly to it and we'll look at that here um in a second so real quick as we talk about the data visual visualization types you can see that there are a lot of different ones I feel like more and more getting adding all the time and I think that that is super super great there is a obviously a a doc that actually talks about that that shows all the different data visualization and what their purpose is and why you would use them I also did a or we did a session last January of 2023 where we actually talked about which visualization where it's about okay I see all these visualizations but like which one should I use I think people quite often are creatures of habit obviously and they'll continue to use the same one and think that its purpose fits everything but obviously that's not the case so if you're interested in what visualizations you should use and why you should use it I think you should definitely check out this Academy session if you weren't on that it'll give you a lot of clarity into what the visualizations are why you should use them and things of that nature but again there is a doc that's out there as well that talks about all of those overviews uh and again a lot of great uh visualizations that are out there so as part of that data visualization and what you can do there's some menu options when you go to configure or edit it right so header right displays the visualization header what you want it to be you can create a separator um which is basically just a line that separates the header from the rest of the component chart title so whatever you actually want to name it to be again there's that description again highly um you should definitely use that uh wrap the title so if you want to wrap it around whatever's going there and then of course you can show a border super super simple but maybe you've not used any of those different things understand that those great things are there for you uh data now right here's the really good stuff how do we get into the nuts and bolts of what we're actually going to be showing so data you can add a data source and we'll look at those in a second if you have a metric that's out there that you want to use that you've created you can add that directly to that visualization additional settings you can show the metric table you can show the score update time how often that it's updated you can use a relative score time you know that that that shows the last update of that particular single score you can you can uh show a zero if there's no when there's no data available if you choose to do that some the data update so you can tell it to follow the filters obviously show if a filter is set for the page one enabled the visualization will actually change the filters on the page or the daily visualizations that are on the page based on that filter you definitely want to do that show the filter icon so if it if it is actually connected to the filter you can show that and and let that person or anybody else know that it's actually filtered you can enable drill Downs so if you have a um uh when selected it'll enable event handler that allows you to click into a visualization so that's sort of like that drill down in reporting that we've had in the past you have that ability to do that uh the refresh rate so how often you want it to refresh you can do that in minutes one or two minutes It'll continuously refresh and then if you just want to use real time updates uh that updates the score in real time whenever it's there looks like we're answering them all via type so I'll move on so the different data data sources that are there the really really great thing about doing things inside the inline editor is now it doesn't necessarily have to be an IND indicator as it way it was for the WD widgets back in the day I mean you could use a table and source of all that different stuff but now it really gives you a lot of flexibility on what you want to actually use uh to populate that data visualizations that's out there go directly to the table you can set filters directly on that table when you actually create that data source and Ogo will probably show that here in a little bit and then if you have an exist indicator that is out there that's been created you can use that so the process just so you know the process for indicators that doesn't change so you still have to create an indicator source and an indicator but you can definitely grab those inside these visualizations you have user experience analytics that you can grab metric base if you using that health log uh analytics all that information can be pulled directly into any visualization directly into it and again if you're not familiar with all the different data sources and the power that they have there's a really great doc that actually talks talks about that uh as well so definitely check that out and then lastly the last part of um the menu or the editing capability for a data visualization is display settings so what how how big do you want it for the score size there's some predefined ones so small medium large extra large things of that nature uh the score icon so if you want that to actually show you can put that out there there's a really some really great things that you do can do from a color perspective so you can do the default which would be whatever the def fault is but if there's some rules that you want to actually apply and change the colors of that particular visualization you can do that by selecting a single color and choosing that color and then actually setting up the rules to do that and then chart uh interaction so allow the chart to be an interaction meaning that you can actually click into it and it can go to something else go to a data view or go directly to um you know the table source and things of that nature so really great things that you can actually do uh with that so are there any that we need to answer out loud are we good uh let's see I think there was the one question about sharing a dashboard with a self-service user um and Olga you can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe as long as they have does the self is the self-service user is a role then you should be able to share that sure what is what do you mean maybe Rose if you can say what do you mean by self service service yeah so I'll let you so let's see who is that Rose I will try to grab you so you can go off mute and you can clarify that question for us here uh there you go Rose you should be able to unmute yourself and talk now yeah so we love dashboards and we share them with um itol users who actually manag to work but sometimes we would like to share it with a director who doesn't have any roles in service now but they want to see what the group is doing so sometimes we would like to share that and public doesn't give give them access to view it we have actually give them a license so they can view the dashboard and when I say license an iil role right I feel like we've had this question very similar question in in the past when we talked about this and and I'm just not recalling what the solution was so it's basically a user that's that's not inside of the platform has no license to it how could they see that same Dash information without I guess potentially having to take screenshots and things of that nature is there a way for them to and and the printer friendly doesn't really capture the full view of the dashboard so we tried to do that but the director may have may be on an assignment group so they can see the full you know you can use Dynamic so he can show show everything for that director but unless we give them a iil license they can't go through and look at the information and if we don't know the uh answer to that or if there's not a solution currently for that then we can definitely get back with um rose on that yeah they have access to dashboard or to the data on the dashboard the data on the dashboard I when I say date on the dashboard they can't view it even if you set them up as uh director's Dynamic to pull the information unless they have an Ito license they can't view the data now there is a role called uh public and as NC internal which you would think that's how we Grant access to our self-service users they'll be able to view but for dashboards that doesn't work and and I am in Tokyo so I see someone said uh maybe it's in a a future version but it's not in Tokyo today if if he has access to the dashboard itself and he has like containers but don't see the data like you have no access to data message you can check the the security it's the it's the read ACL on the tables which you buil on you can check if um if you give users P role and create indicators performance indicators maybe they will have access to it but we can double check and follow up okay thank you so much yeah Dan if you can if you can jot that that down real quick we can definitely follow that follow back up with that uh to see we get it because it's it's obviously based on the chat a question that a lot of people have so it's something to definitely if it's not available then talk to the developers about it and see what what the possibilities are for the future definitely got it great thank you all right so for the sake of time so make sure that you all can see this stuff let me go ahead and finish everything we have here so the next thing we have is you know adding a filter to a dashboard so I quickly just add a filter drag that thing over new filter super super simple and then now we're actually going to talk about what that means for that menu right so single there's multiple here so you can do a single select so that's one choice a multiple select you can have multiple choices you can do a date you can do a true false all those different things again based on the data that you're actually looking at based on the type of filter that you need to do if you're looking at a state or something like that then obviously date wouldn't work for that true false probably wouldn't work for that either uh but a single select or a multi select will give you that option so those abilities are there so uh the filter type so you can have a pill you can have radio buttons obviously you can have a label and then you can show values in the p in the pill so that means that when you select something it'll actually show you the values directly inside of that pill rather than it just saying uh whatever the filter label is it'll actually give you the ability to show what's actually been selected in that uh the data so you can use uh whatever you know you can use uh uh the table data so if you have uh pointed directly to a table you can select in this example incident do. State uh you can do the date to filter you can actually add multiple to filter on that things if you can if you have that ability based on the data that you're looking at and then you can also select a default default value if there is one that you actually want when someone opens up the dashboard maybe there's a default value that you actually want them to be able to see so uh directly connected filters so these are filters that are automatically added to and uh removed from the list by availability both followed and unfollowed filters uh are listed and available and then filters with table connection this be a filter that matches more than one record on the Target or vice versa so they cannot be connected directly but uh selecting a connected table which has unique record for each match is something to think about there as well and then Advanced options so allow a user to clear the filter if they choose to this may be important if you uh have a default value and you want to give somebody the ability to clear that off uh obviously sort Direction ascending and descending and then the number of elements that you would actually want to load based on what the filter cra criteria U is and um before we get to so those are the main two obviously you still have image and um you know uh single list and things like but I think the the bulk of what we're going to be doing is data visualizations and filters and those are the ones that we're actually going to want to show uh but I just want to say this before we go into what Dem um Olga's going to show so with Washington become uh comes a dashboard migration Center so this gives you the ability to take any existing Dash s that were from the core UI and actually migrate that migrate migrate those over to uh the platform analytics experience uh so that different look so there are a lot of out of thebox uh dashboards that come with the platform I can tell you that all of those teams are working to migrate those over so understand that some of the out of thebox ones will probably are obviously still going to be in the core UI uh but those teams that build those out of the box ones that um are released with when releases come are working diligently to get those migrated over for future releases as well so with that let's go to Olga so so she can actually we can actually see some of this stuff in action if Olga's ready there we go very just have to stop answering questions yeah let's let's look at this so um just as Thomas mentioned um you can access I'm showing it in the vashington version so in the Wasington you will access it from the all menu you can go to the platform analytics it's a new module available um for you uh from the vashington if you enable uh unified navigation uh so you will have this new module available you can go here either analytics Center or the dashboard just a quick reference if you're not on Washington yet but you want to start using this functionality it's available for you you will just find it from the workspaces you will have here option platform analytic workspace um as um since Tokyo if you have unified navigation enabled these options will be available for all users with rols um so here uh we have an overview of uh the dashboards you can see all the certified dashboard will have this tag so you can see that you have uh quick options it's very similar to the uh dashboard overview in the you had another responsive but we have some extra option like certified and bookmark as a separate tabs you can easily book bookmark some dashboards maybe you don't use them so often so you don't want it to be ever gone and you don't want to look for it so you will find it here and if you uh want to create a new dashboard you go here let's do um you of course will have much better names and description uh description will be shown sh here on this card as well so if you add description it's really helpful because right here U you can have very similar names like Incident Management my teams dashboard and given the uh description can give some extra uh information of what it is for so recommend to add that um so once you have an empty screen you have this uh empty canvas um and to add different elements you go to this add new element section um and let's start with the adding that visualization you have two options to add data visualizations you can create it from scratch so you don't need anym to go to create P widget or report first before you can add it to the dashboard you right away you have an idea what you want to do you go here and you can start creating right away or if you know that you already have something saved in the library you can of course go here and all all the visualiz safe visualizations which you have access to are here so you just type maybe I know I have few um maybe I want to have several they very nice thing that you can add multiple in the in the classic experience you had to add one by one so if you already added you know you have 10 visualizations maybe you already saved them um you had to do 30 clicks now you just select everything you need and you add them all together um but let's um let's go ahead and create uh the new visualization from scratch um so the structure as Thomas explained you first select your visualization type or whatever you want you select data first or chart type first depending on the way you're thinking um so let's select the the data let's start with the um uh with the report um the incidents you have the suggested so it's anything that you recently used up to 10 recent um data sources will be here doesn't matter which data source is so you can see um based on the what you you will always have tables of course if you have uh any indicators you have access to as a users you will have all indicators um you don't need to be the um PA u pa power users to have indicators so now your business users as soon as you created indicators for them and they have uh the view access to them um they can create dashboards with this information as well so they don't need uh the admins to do it for them anymore you can have even your usage data or metric based data if you enabled it on your instance or you have license for for it by the way the sh shout out for the usage data if you don't use it most of you probably already have access you just your admin need to activate it on the instance and you have different usage data you can see different session users so you can analyze them the usage of your application but there will be some collateral from Thomas from the uh old Academy which we uh which we had for this so you can learn a bit more about it um so let's let's select a table uh again you can search of course if you don't have it in the suggested um it will search through all the data sources uh one you select the table you have a preview so you can have here the predefined conditions those are your report sources if you guess used them in the classic so all the report sources which I built on top of this table will be here so let's select uh incident open and you can right away here open it in the new window if you want to to view it or maybe you need to adjust it you can also have a quick link from here so you can addit it and of course you can add any custom conditions it's a standard condition Builder so you can add any any conditions you want here um and here the previews that you can easily make sure that hey is this is this the right set like yeah okay it looks correct 144 open incidents sounds about right um once you add it since we have single score selected is visible here right away um let me select um donut and we have different settings in the metric you can select the standard the aggregation so count sum average uh all the things you used to be able to do in the in the standard reporting uh we keep it as um at account count of records and let's select a group by by state again similar settings you can select your group buy uh you can select your um the maximum number of group if you want to show other also if you want to hide elements with zero values especially if you do some average aggregation you might want to hide those uh and you have your visualization um you have some extra options you can sort it uh by default it by value and I think it's really nice for the donor to keep it by value but in case you need it by uh by element order um this is the the order in the choice field table right which is logical order you have new in progress on hold that's also could be a good option [Music] um and um you have different styling settings uh let's add the title of course uh um um in case you want to quickly add option to um to have to change Group by so it's not just by state but you have a different options you can add it here so let's add also option to add it by um by a few different options you can choose it to be visible by default or not um let's make it visible by default and I have here my quick rby available here um very nice things in the next experience dashboard you can easily duplicate uh quite often I'm not sure how you do it but when I create my dashboard I have very complicated filters and it's very painful to recreate it manually if I have two SIM visualizations so it's solved here you can just uh duplicate your visualization um so all the filters which you had configured and all configuration are saved so so you can just adjust it so um let's say I I want to have maybe this as um uh at a single score um let's drag it a bit up um again you changing the chart type everything is uh still persisted and uh just might need to add change the state and it's ready and let's also add um visualization based on the indicator let's [Music] do aage H open incidents uh very similar again the same logic you have instead of table you just have have preview of the scores you have right away to see which type of indicator it is um uh the formula If U if it's formula indicators you will see the calculation you can see which breakdowns available and some extra information you can apply filters here same way as you do uh for the table and we can edit uh and let's change it to the to the area chart and add the description and of course it's not a fun dashboard if we don't have filters so let's add also a filter um similar if you already have Pro probably for the most cases you have the same filter so you will have already existing filters so you will just add safe filters or multiple filters uh but for this demo let's just create a new one um let's put it on top let's do the multi select filter um you can have different options uh I will keep it as a pill um let's do it um assignment group The integation of filters also much simpler in the next experience um you don't need to think too much about how where the data is coming from and how technically uh it's done so you don't need that you don't need to know for example that assignment group is stored in the C User Group table you know which data you are filtering so you select um you can select just incident table I want to filter by assing group and system will tell you right away hey uh this is coming from the CIS Choice uh CIS user group so it will do it for yourself if you are get used to select this user group you can do it as well but for most of the business users it will be much easier you just select your data table and it's automatically will populate uh data to filter you can also have some um configuration um so maybe you want to CH limit um limit available fields you don't want to have all the assignment groups but maybe you have only assignment group where uh for example manager is is me right or I don't know I will not actually do it because I'm not a manager from any assignment group will not have any choices as an admin but yeah so you can limit the the choice here from this from this menu and it's pretty simple if later on you decide let's let's go let's go see uh how it works um so if you add visualization from the library and maybe you changed something in it on the dashboard upon because you can easily change it here right on the dashboard upon saving dashboard it will give you a message hey there's one um the number of open incident strength has been changed and it's uh used in the uh it's coming from the library so you can decide if you want to change do the changes to the library so any other um dashboard which using us using this visualizations will get the changes as well or maybe you just wanted to save it directly on the dashboard in this way it will just be disconnected from the library and you will have the local copy on your dashboard so we can do that um and exiting the edit mode I have all my uh signning groups so I can select assignment groups uh probably should have checked which assignment group has has data but you can see um um the indicators uh this is uh coming from the indicators and it's also filtered so you don't have any more uh this was this is by the way is not filters because it's formula and this formula doesn't support multi select so if I go and select just single element you can see that uh all indicators and table data is filtered by a single uh single filter you don't need to worry about break dashboard breakdowns interactive filters it's a single unified experience for any any of your data um and um in case you want to add uh additional tabs here how you goes let's say I want to move some of my content to another tab I can easily do it as well I don't need to recreate it again like later on you see that it's a bit too long of my um of my dashboard so maybe I want to move this one to the um move to the different tab um and this one I will move above the tab so it will filter both stabs let also move and it's now my simple uh and you can easily uh filter out data on both of your tabs uh any if you want to share um you can share your dashboard from here um kind of similar with a classic but uh experience of the responsive dashboard but a little bit more flexible again you can share with user groups and roles um to share with roles here um you need to be uh a dashboard admin to make sure that user don't overshare um but if I want to share let's say with a tutor and maybe or you can select if uh if they want if you want the U to give view access or edit access and separately you can see uh if if you want allowed to uh for this users to be able to um to share as well um so you can just add as a viewer later if you want to change it like hey now I actually want to allow to share as well may be allowed to edit access as well for the a then when you confirm uh the uh the dashboard is uh is shared um if later on you decide like hey I actually want to use um this data visualization um to add it to the library to use it on my other Dash for um you can easily from here add it to the library the only thing you need is to give it a name and it's done um and again a much simpler think I have my Dev instance is not so good so I have this error you will not have it on your instance but yeah that's uh that's as simple as as is so um if you are upgrading on the rington we are uh strongly recommending you to start using it because uh before that it was a little bit separate experience but uh as as we mentioned before and we'll have another sessions uh next month again from the Washington release you can migrate all your dashboard which means that when I'm you going uh that all your dashboards you have already today will be right away able here you don't need to recreate and you can uh all the compatible content will be migrated automatically to the new dashboard if you have some dashboards which may be have functionality we don't support yet and you want to keep it it will be available as existing dashboard um but you can start using the next experience for all of your users and get much better uh efficiency better user experience and tonight say you do we have some questions you want to answer live yeah yeah yeah we have we have a few here so uh Dan you did you have one that you wanted to do live first or you changed your mind on that there's one there you do that one live first yeah and actually it's probably I'm gonna be want to kind of uh be the the group of us together um Maggie's question on showing to create the dashboard as a user who has online editing access um other users don't have this and in that case they are not forced to add the title of a dashboard that is um once you migrate once you complete the migration process and again you can do that in Washington zanadoo um Yokohama or by default it'll be on by default in the Z release but once it's migrated um that is the only way to create a dashboard is the either the inline editor or through the technical editor so my understanding is yes you do need to give it a title just so it can be found J just so it can be found and distinguished from other dashboards and Olga correct me if I'm wrong with that um yeah let me just show you uh it is mandatory right yeah [Music] yeah so I I'm now logged in as an IT user uh so I don't have any admin roles or uib admin roles so when I will go create new dashboard I will just have the simple pop up so I just put my name which is mandatory and description which is optional and then you don't have you don't see this options to create like a technical dashboard that's true it wouldn't be technical if you're not an admin or Dash ad and just a shout out because like Thomas was mentioning I think stressed it enough that um you want to stay away of technical if you're not a developer user I will go even further even if you developer user you you shouldn't like default to the inline like unless you really need to unless you have like custom Ur widget or very complex interaction don't go to create technical dashboard because you cannot convert it back to the inline dashboard you will have to recreate it and if it's way harder for you to create technical dashboard um you don't have any default drill Downs or functionality like the the interaction functionality which you get automatically um more like insights and other stuff you will hear about New Washington features in the future it's a bit more cumbersome to configure there all possible but it's takes more development time right and you will never be able to give the maintenance of this dashboard to your end user so like hey I created dashboard for you now you can customize it you will have to maintain it so if you have a strong use case for this go for it but don't think like oh I'm developer I'm a pro let me go technical I know it's like really plan B right if you if you need to go like extra mile like okay you can do it but um check first if you can achieve it with the inline okay awesome Dan is there any other ones that you want to take oh let's see there's quite a few there are quite a few I just want if we can grab a couple of these well I know one that maybe answered a couple that we can just talk about real quick so forced migration went from y to Z right Olga yes forc migration be in y it will be in the Z release Z or whatever it will be yeah so you have an exra release based on the popular demand from both you guys get an extra release of re and keep in mind that even with the migration there is still a you know we are obviously strongly recommending that you that whenever you are whenever you want to start considering migration you do it on a sub production instance and just kind of see what you want to what you want to migrate and what you don't and then you just got to try the process matter of fact we even recommend that in W in Washington before you even consider the possibility of migrating in X or Y for example go ahead and go ahead and do a migration in a sub fra environment in W to start to get start playing around with it seeing what the seeing where the challenges are um and you know so that's so you know things that you might need to might have to overcome keep in mind that we are adding more resources and enablement materials as we go so Washington will have some we're going to be learning from what you tell us I mean we can only get so much information based upon migrating our own stuff we get a lot of information but we need to hear back from customers too so as each my as each version goes throughout zadoo and Yokohama there will be more more information and enablement and clarifications made for the data migrations but you can always roll back too even if you do a migration the uh the old tables don't go away they're just hidden so it is feasible to completely roll back if you absolutely if you absolutely absolutely have to so always that option available I'd like to quickly answer a few more questions um Steve asked like about the breakdown based visualization like breakdown scorecard so we have this component that resolation called indicator scorecard so by default you will see list of all your indicators and you can um have few option condition based and it's it's just um condition Builder on the indicator table you can filter Maybe by name or by some other attribute of indicator which indicator you want to show here if you don't want to show all you have indicator group you will show indic um all the indicators from specific indicator group or the manually selected let's do that for the example of the breakdown scorecard uh so let's again select number of open incidents um and then I can here select uh breakdowns let's pick a category again number of [Music] groups um by default you will see it uh under uh indicators because you can have multiple indicator the same way if you want to just have just for one IND indicators you will have here show breakdown only option and you have information so here you will control which columns you want to see maybe you want to show the uh uh Gap also and maybe previous scores that's previous three scores um with closer here uh and that's how you can see the uh the breakdown uh widgets uh if you want to show it in any other visualization like in the time series that's uh that's going to be simple right you selected indicators and you just select your breakdown here uh and then it's I don't have any data um and then you see your uh your information and then we had a question which I lost from Jane uh about the um the filters so I showed the configuration the filter for the single table right it's just filter the incident and she has asking like what about if I have multiple data let's say I have that the incident problems changes and maybe some other not task related table um so here you can add other tables you want to be filtered so by default you select incidents and let's say I want to also filter the the maybe the the problem table like then you can select uh problem and then in the field you will only be able to select the field which is ref because this is reference field right uh you will only be able to see the uh field which which is reference so you need to select some assignment groups you can also dot work and have more complex logic but by default we have your assignment group probably you will filter it like this you also have option to apply to all tables in hierarchy like if you want like hey for all task related table right anything that extend tasks um you can do it as well um so that's similar options we had just a little bit in the simpler user experience [Music] um okay let me just say this before we continue just for the sake of time so because I want to try to if we can get to all of these questions I definitely want to do that so if anyone if anyone needs to drop I apologize that we will go over but I think if we can get to these questions I think it's it's important so if you can stay or if you need to drop feel welcome to come and go as you please but we'll try to make sure we can get through all of these questions if at all possible so Dan is answering that one via type let's see do you want me to answer it live the the then are you answering the the ux analytics data yeah go ahead so the question is user experience analytics data source is it available for the all users no you need to have a special role and um I don't remember on top of my head so if you go to the documentation or maybe then you can post yeah I can that but I wanted to get some of the other answers it's something with user experience in there but it's a special role because you have access to pretty much all user experience data so by default admins will have it and then you can have this uh user experience uh uh role for your users and um it's it will be then available and you can have but not everybody has it yeah that's going by default like every I user will not have it of course so you will probably in the organizations nobody gets it by default except of the admins of course um so you will need to request the role for you to to get access to it if looking up rolls here right now there is the I believe it's a user experience analytics viewer yeah yeah that one yep that's the one that's the one and the prerequisite it you need to be able for for the data to be collected you need to make sure that your you are not opted out from user experience as a customer I think very few customer did and to make sure the data is collected um your configuration based on the privacy settings of your user experience like um the the specific application should be col should be enabled to collect data um different regions have different privacy policies so it's could be different from company to company how you set it up um uh know question on the function field supported via the PA workspace um they they could be applied in a workspace however the act the actual creation of a like you have the report function field inside the report designer today today and and still and at the moment you still would need to use the old report designer um to actually create or manage function field at the report level but then you could apply that by selecting whatever table that report was based on and those function fields are available to you in next experience yeah exactly either either from the report designer or if you an admin you can also do it directly from the table dictionary and then once the function field is added we see it as a regular field so it will be available for you as a metric um depending on the type of this function field e as a group biometric Etc um reports application going away and its primary function is and that any just just creating data visualization with table queries that's really what we're talking about um in the in the uh um analytic Center you know either on a dashboard or in a data visualization that you're creating it the actual report application is my understanding is no correct me if I'm wrong is not actually going away it's just that the um the the functionality of it is really designed to be moved into the uh into the ne in the next experience into the analytics Center that so yeah that's and again correct me if I'm wrong with that I don't know if we want to go in order with these or the relevance of these so um well there was a couple of questions about the stakeholders I know that uh and I think we that's one we're going to kind of combine as a we're probably just do a followup on the on the academy page probably yeah I'll find out about the business I actually look for it uh but I need to I need to find out some more information on that one definitely so so we'll come back to the stakeholder ones yeah uh report Source up take yet this interface is very similar to UI Builder but not exactly the same how do you enable click through to either list or secondary visualizations if you you would need to use the technical editor if you want to configure the actual clickthrough event so uh if you want to configure so for example on the inline editor it's a um a a table query based a data visualization that uses a table query as its data source will go just to the list view of Records a a data visualization that uses indicators will go go to The kpi Details page and then you can get to a list of records from there um that those are all set if you want to customize that that would be in the technical dashboard which is for all intents and purposes the same as UI Builder but it's you know there there's some differences but it but it's essentially using the same functionality that UI Builder does we'll have um so from the Washington release we have a bit more options so um on the inline dashboard your chart interaction are defined here so Bas the data visualization you you can have enable or disable if you just don't have any drill Downs you can disable it fully before Washington you had the settings um you only can enable and disable theault drill down then mentioned either to the list of QP ID dos and it was in the data update setting so if you disable you will not have drill down by default if you don't do anything the the it will go from the table it will go to to the list uh and you have some other options you can uh make it act as a filter you can uh go to the URL and we will have uh option coming it probably will be in the next Academy session talked more about this how to configure build down from chart to chart it's not available in Washington yet but it is available from the February story lease which you can install on demand if you need drill down from chart to Chart good clarification can and that's for Brian's question right yeah I think I believe it's it's um yeah it's already live uh the um the release from the last week we can uh once you update to the Washington U you can download it and here will be also option to configure drill down from chart to chart um in the good so so that some capabilities in in line editor yeah all the most of the capability standard capabilities which you used to have are available uh here in the inline editor um then we have a question from Beth is like is there's an audit look of who made changes in the data visualization um we don't have it exposed in the nice UI yet but like if you and understand the table you can go to the table and see the logs um the a logs ised it's it's just you need to enable like relate Leist and see it there um we are looking at more ways to expose it directly here but right now it's uh on in the tables not not from the not from the UI itself yeah and there's a question also from the Ryman who can update that the the visualization I'm not sure which that uh but if you saved visualiz if you're talking about visualization in the library there's um two ways so to be able for who can update visualization from the library I think I added this visualization to the library um so if you add it to to the library uh you need to give permission here who can edit it by default who else can edit it dashboard admin can edit and you if you want your team to be able to this this artifact itself uh you can share it here specifically to be able to added so it's not to it's it has nothing to do with visibility on the dashboard so that one once you share dashboard everybody uh able to view it but this is this this View and edit permissions Pro visualizations is who will be able to find it in the library and who will be able to edit it in the library so are you sharing your screen because if you're I can let her share go ahead okay all right yeah I was Shar sorry I took it I'm sorry I just want to I just want to plow through these I know Karen had the question there and I know she's I don't think she's here anymore but it'll be on the recording question had to she had some questions about the um ask a question capabilities and that is still there you can still ask a question like you through typing in a question it's just at the main analytics Center or at the when I'm creating a you know at the main analytics Center you'll see the option to just type in a query to say you what do you want to see and that can that can generate a report or it gives you options to generate reports from there yeah get this from yeah so that was there uh Kurt does this all get collected in an update set or will you need to unload there should not be a need to do the unload if you create the dashboard and I'm I'm actually working on some some docs to kind of work through that specific use case on recommendations because you know not everyone going to create all of their dashboards in production um so we want to be you know but uh the creation of dashboards and the the creating the content in them that all should still be captured in an update set as opposed to the the previous environment where all of the components of a dashboard you know you're widgets your indicators all that those were part of an update set but the actual arrangement of your widgets on the page were not captured an update set unless you chose to unload the dashboard that should not NE be necessary any longer let's [Music] see I don't know keep coming in or yeah there's new ones coming in so we're going to probably have to stop new ones after the top of the hour but um and I apologize for that but uh Karen said these Library shared across your user base or are they team specific that you have a choice as you share a data visualization within the library you can say whether you just want it to be available to a certain group uh that's V both visible and editable so you can make it so it's not even visible you know too you can set it up so it's only visual edit so it'll be visible to certain groups if you want to so it's it's what however you want to set your share settings right it's it's and it's way more flexible than classic reporting that really which users which roles which groups like uh who can who can who can change sharing who can view who can edit same as a dashboard same level of flexibility you can do it for the library content to make sure that you have very clean library for targeted to specific users and you don't overshare it as you had to be Stephen's question on the on the groups within how you would responsive dashboards you had groups not like assignment groups but just you know dashboard groups that is not available as a functionality yet in Washington I just uh I I and I believe so that is uh but um I'm going to want to actually I I have a kind of a note to actually talk with you Stephen and a couple other folks who talked about that use case so we can actually dive into that use case in a little more detail because I I think that is important um you know you're not the only one that talk about that but Olga if you can I don't you we don't have any details on where on the road map that is at this point though right it's not it's not on X we do expect it to be on the safe harbor on the yakoma um based on the popular feedback from stepen and other people yes we are looking into it uh will'll reach out to get more use cases company use a lot of PA widgets and I'm conc concerned that they will be not available in uh as long as go ahead no as long as they're not custom I mean any PA widgets that were created in on a responsive dashboard will be brought over into the next experience so in the that you migrate dashboard once you migrate your dashboards all your widgets also get migrated at least everything which is used on the dashboard maybe there's some widget which never were used but then I believe they were not so important important if they never were used but there's way to migrate them so you can easily have them all available and it's way simpler now to just if you have indicator just to configure your visualization in any way you need all right and then we'll I think we'll get um Stefan but and and I think we talked about this a little bit earlier but maybe AA if you want to kind of just show it is there a way for the data display and visualization be filtered initially on a field and that's that default thing that we talked about then use a dashboard filter to further filter on that field for instance I want my incident visualization to show data for 10 assignment groups only and then the dashboard filter lets me f further filter the the buy those assignment groups does that make sense yeah so you would uh add filter on your visualization itself right you would go uh and uh add your uh yeah that's not a good example but if it's uh if it's allows multi select right so if it's um table vation so you will select uh on the VIS itself you will uh filter the uh your default assignment groups uh and then you can um filter further uh you have also an option in the um on the on the filter itself to have default values so if if you don't want to filter your visualization so you can filter the elements in the filter plus you can apply U default filters so there's multiple option to do that so most of the things you can uh you can achieve uh in in few different ways um still I have the ability to say another there's another filter on the page that I want to that I want this this filter to to follow like if you apply the filter here on the data source uh you can select assignment group right uh one of these 10 assignment groups uh and then any filter on the dashboard will be applied on top of it like the end condition um so you can then filter further yeah and I think that's what he's talking about if if you set one at the visualization level by default can the the UniFi filter that's on the dashboard itself still further filter that and here can be also right can be also Dynamic for both um PA and Reporting is also could be dynamic if if you have this element filter um available or the dynamic filter so you can also Dynamic like one of my so you have can have more Dynamic dashboards as well and because I just I don't want to be that guy I see that that John is still here and he has had his hand uh raised for a while so let's let's get his uh question definitely John you there you have to unmute yourself if you want to speak I just well while we're waiting there can you see what um yeah mirel yeah I can I can answer the question from the m is is there's way to keep people from creating new reports in the report designer once the transition next experience version yeah this will be done automatically once you made the migrations and you switch to this new navigation menu of platform analytics um all the many options from the reports and uh permissions to create responsive dashboard and um and reports in report designers uh will be removed from the regular users only so it's important to say hid yeah so you yeah exactly so but by default like admin will still have all the access but every regular users will just be uh directed to the new way of creating and Dan can you try to unmute him I'm having difficult I can just ask to unmute yeah I've clicked that a couple times but so John Henson he if you are still here I don't know if you're multitasking um you have you are eligible to unmute yourself and ask a question if you would like but otherwise I think we're just going to assume you probably uh either left or you are multitasking and do not hear us so yeah and and for the sake of time let's I want to go ahead and real quick if he can get unmuted then he can interrupt us but so real quick just to to close all this out so all of the fil all of the uh links that you saw within the presentation and things that Olga talked about uh will definitely be in here and it'll also be in the community event as well uh thank you to Olga for stepping in and doing this uh for me she knows how much it means to me so I truly appreciate it uh and real quick just to for those that are still here she talked about this as well we actually now have a collateral L Library that's going to actually give really quick videos that actually go through a lot of the things that she did today so these are really quick hitter videos like how do I share a dashboard how do I duplicate a dashboard how do I add a data visualization to a dashboard how do I do a filter so these are all out on the community they're actually already there so the link to that will be there as well and then of course all the community is there upcoming events uh now learning is out there and in two weeks we're going to do the what's new in Washington for platform analytics so you definitely want to come to um that to see the really great things you've seen most of them already but there may be some more that you'll actually see as well so with that thank you I don't think that we can get John to work so uh Dan Olga thank you very much for your time and everybody else that came great questions everybody thank you
