Platform Analytics Academy - January 24th, 2024 - Platform Analytics "Enablement & Collateral"
[Music] okay we are at the top of the hour so we're going to go ahead and get started so uh welcome to a New Year and welcome to platform analytics Academy I know it's been a few weeks since we have talked and seen everyone but I'm glad to see that we have people that are coming back uh if you are new here welcome if you're returner um welcome to you as well greatly appreciate all of you coming uh our intent is to really give you some great uh content that you can use throughout your journey within uh platform analytics and all of the supporting things around it so I'm going to go a and get started with some logistical information as usual and then I'm going to turn it right over to our speaker so he can get directly into the content that he has so as usual um these are for you we try as hard as we can to bring fresh ideas and help you with a better understanding our product as we can and of course practical gu guidance using it this is always recorded uh it'll be out on YouTube later on today or early tomorrow morning as well as in the community as well so um you really have the ability to sit back and just listen and observe uh if you want to take notes obviously do that but just know that it will be there for you later on uh to do that type of stuff please ask questions ask as many as you would like uh the one request that I have is please put them into the Q&A because there are other panelists that will be on the call as well that can answer questions via type um if there is a question that we feel is relevant to where we are in the content sometimes we do stop the uh presenter and actually ask that question that way it can be fresh in your mind wherever you're at but please ask questions and if you can like I said put them into the Q&A because we're able to grab those from the zoom recording and do some other things with that rather than putting all that information into the chat so um Safe Harbor uh there there may may not be some things in the content that our speaker is sharing today but we always like to make sure that we share this with you so you'll have an idea as you're listening and seeing the things that we'll be discussing today um obviously you've seen a safe har before so please keep that in mind as you're watching and listening today uh my name is Thomas Davis I am your host I'm not the presenter I meant to change that and RJ is not a panelist he is the presenter so forgive me for that but um if you've been here before you have uh heard R.J speak he is magnificent a great speaker and always shares really good information and I believe that um some of my co-workers are going to be on at some point they'll they'll join and one just walked in right now so uh Tara Adam and Dan may be here uh throughout the thing and again they'll be there to answer questions via type and also out loud uh going back to the questions real quick if there is a question that's unrelated to the content please feel free to ask those as well if we can get to those uh at the end after we finish the content that we're covering today we'll try as hard as we can to do that if we don't get to that question please feel free to ask that in the community and tag any one of us in that question and we'll try to get you the answer for that so we decided that it would be a great idea to kick off 2024 with just talking about some enablement and collateral that we've actually been working on and creating uh to give to you all as your journey continues inside of platform analytics so if you're a returner some really great stuff that maybe you've not seen before if you're new some really great stuff that will help you with that Journey so with that I'm going to turn it over to RJ if he is ready and let him go you there RJ I am there can you hear me yep all right thanks Thomas and no pressure what you uh what you mentioned and I I did see that you were the presenter so you can also take this one if you if you feel like or no no you can you can have it it's yours okay let me let me grab the screen H I think I'm sharing the screen right you are y all right um okay thanks again thank all for being here I am uh privileged to be hosting the the first one the first Academy of the year um I I love being here I love being here as a panelist I love here to be to speak to talk about the specifically platform analytics and like like was that Thomas also just mentioned the the journey that we're taking there and today will also be about that so it's it's about that extra enablement material that we're making available for you to utilize um yes we talked about this in some of the previous sessions H but now we will go a little bit deeper on on what to what to exactly expect there um this one was already shown thas already showed it I I actually think I'm not sharing anything forward facing or forward looking um but I I do know myself I I might just say something so in that case the Safe Harbor also also applies today uh three things three topics first I want to quickly recap on uh what is happening uh to to really set in context why we are actually talking about enablement um two what are other initiatives currently in play to sort of support you within that journey into platform analytics and three in particular I want to talk about something that we internally call and and now almost also externally call the enablement toolkit um what was it again the uh platform analytics um with with the platform analytics we're bringing these what we call these modern intuitive analytics experiences uh really these these new ways to consume analytics to work with analytics to configure your new analytics it includes many new analytics features and capabilities in this modern look and field personally I think the the biggest Improvement of the whole thing is that that finally we are truly bringing all the analytics together in um this new sort of analytics home in in new navigation but it it really feels like a single analytics home no more disjointed tools that kind of feel like they are these these separate applications um all the new things they all all they are and they they all feel unified and consistent so yes with using them it does require to um you to really start using a new tool um but I think that too is by the way much easier than the previous multiple ones that we had and once you know that one it kind of works the same for any type of analytics data source that you use within now I did mention new um is it really new not not really um most of it has already been there in parallel as of Tokyo where you saw the experiences as um part of those workspaces we called it the platform analytics workspace so during Tokyo Utah and Vancouver it was there and now in Washington we are position positioning it more separately as the as the main analytics environment um and yes we did hear and we did see people using it but of course it did not have the full adoption yet and the reason for that was simple that it it it missed one major thing and and what it missed was was your data so as of Washington there will be this new navigation where platform analytics will service directly inside your left side menu it's no longer workspace and the reason for this is that we we don't think analytics is a fixed workflow for a single user Persona analytics is this this full experience consisting of of many multiple experiences for many multiple analytics personas that go there to do many different things and some just go there to consume some analytics some data some reports that you might have or others go there to create something for others and others go there to really dive into their analytics kpi their indicator data and see if they can can see what that outlier or that that anomaly um to really do that slice and dice so our goal was to really make it part of the entire platform just as as for example data is part of the platform so your records your tables um is the it should be the same it's it's the same what you on top of that data now it brings that new analytics Center UI which we position to be that analytics home the home of analytics um see this as the analytics landing page to quickly get some insights or to from there navigate to maybe your bookmark or certified analytics content could either be a dashboards or or maybe a single analytics chart like a data visualization uh there's this new data visual designer to configure your analytics artifacts there's a new dashboard edit to configure the data visual storytelling dashboards to really do that storytelling dashboard there with with multiple data visualizations together and then there are these exploratory uis which are kpi details kpi signals to really do that slicing and dicing that I just uh just talked about and then as I mentioned before in in the previous slide there there was this one thing missing now with Washington it's there it's the migration tool itself uh which we call the Mig ation Center to really make sure that you can bring your existing content over so this all brings us um strategically um that we are also sort of piffting our messaging during Utah and maybe you currently being in Vancouver that messaging was always hey that platform analytics is there platform analytics workspace is there you might have it in parallel um try it out get comfortable with it uh put your toe in the water if there's a new chart that you need to build U maybe do it over there if there's a new complete dashboard you need to configure to build maybe consider building it over there and maybe tell your power users to consider that building that in new but don't start to manually recreate all your existing content yet we'll we'll we'll get you a tool for that and and that's the tool that I'm talking about with that migration Center so now being in Washington with having the two over there and also that messaging for us is a little bit changing it's it's more pivoting now into hey consider moving consider um your migration and and the transition of your analytics users to those improved experiences um we we know it's better it's it's better in in every form we talked about it in some previous Academy sessions and and not just the things that I mentioned before with with look and feel and the fact that it's unified and that will absolutely increase the adoption and support you in creating these these better meaningful analytics but it it's also more feature Rich uh we we solved long awaited issues and needs there for example around filtering uh around sharing and immediately added a ton of extra charting options that we that we often heard through ideation process but then again we also acknowledge that RJ I'm gonna interrupt you really quick um because you're talking about this I wanted you to answer that question live of just explaining what is getting migrated when you talk about the migration tool okay um I'm thinking of whether I'm showing something like that I don't think so um there there is by the way an amazing Academy session that goes Super in detail on the migration itself uh what we're migrating is your analytics content being your reports your performance analytics widgets that you might have uh your dashboards um and your filters so you can basically through the migration tool either um opt in to do everything at once um of course always our our messaging there is do that in a test environment first but you can also choose to First go into a a more of a a a try out area like a Sandbox area to see what actually migrates and how it migrates and how how the new um the new content will be thank you you answered the question so perfect the um what I wanted to mention is we do acknowledge the fact that this is still a change uh we we say it's better but it's still different right so this is this is still a change for you there there there might be migration work there might be planning for that migration there might be testing I just mentioned it um and and also you most likely want to prepare your users for those new tools you want to enable them for the best analytics adoption um I do have this slide and this slide we also showed before it's it's still the same um we do understand that you need time for it uh but we do want to emphasize that the plan the strategy that we have is is to eventually just move forward to get everyone across on what we call platform analytics H we really want to prevent the situation that maybe in the further future we will still have customers that would be in the in the new experiences in the platform analytics as well as still being in the old and now with Washington you still have the option to opt in to platform analytics that's what I just mentioned with that migration tool you can actually opt in to move everything to platform analytics experiences uh so you run your migration on the existing content and from there it basically makes platform analytics the default experience for your users where they will then use tools like the data visual designer for chart creation or the the new the great new platform analytics dashboards over there there or those kpi details and signals for that kpi exploration zanadu will actually be the release for our net new customers they will actually from zanadu by default only get the platform analytics experiences so they will actually not have the old ways for example think about the the old PA widget form that that you might be familiar with where you use that form to create a performance analytics widget they will not have that anymore they will only have the the new similar as with core UI dashboards they will not have those anymore they will only have the new improved dashboards you as an existing customer you would still have that opt in possibility also in zanadu and then coming Yokohama we want to move forward and and really upgrade you upon upgrade of Yokohama into platform analytics um so one thing that I do want to mention is as as much as your decision could be to go in zanadu or maybe even wait it out till Yokohama is um always consider to um to to already start thinking about your enablement like that is something that you might not not want to wait until until Yokohama or just prepping for Yokohama to start enablement can already start similar as I was mentioning before is you could potentially already let your power users maybe maybe work in some of those environments and and maybe try out some things and and really start planning for for that um for that enablement um this slide is is is is basically to tell a little bit on how we approach it ourselves and and what we encounter as the personas as the main users and how they see the uh transitioning to platform analytics now what we learned uh very quickly is that we needed to support basically the full wide spectrum of users uh we learned this from you we had several calls with with some of you directly we did a focus pack actually in Q4 last year um but we're we're also learning internally as we're going through the same transition ourself uh we internally surfice now we have several instances which we basically treat as as our own customers um and that makes us actually as the analytics team actually also end users in some of those because we're we're using those instances and this all having all those conversations they really helped us to really uh understand the needs and that with certain roles come certain expectations around the information available for for better enablement and so for example the person on the left the person that does the actual migration and who is often the maybe the analytics admin maybe a CIS admin or an owner they will of course have different needs on enablement than any other end user and maybe one specific specific information on the migration itself what will actually happen technically um are there possible risks involved of course where the user on the right has far less needs around the migration but but more Mo most likely needs help in understanding how to how to use some of those analytics tools like how can I use consumption of dashboard of of analytics best so for us this wasn't really an exercise to to see what we needed to have and because we we quickly found out that that was basically everything but it really helped us with targeting certain enablement material for certain Persona end users and then and then setting priority on those and just to share a little bit more of those insights of our approach that we also use internally um again we are a little bit ahead of of on those because of those several instances that we're actually moving not just to Washington but we are we are also up into the platform analytics uh uis to the to the experiences there um and this is this is some some approach so therefore what to think of of how we are approaching it ourselves internally now first USS so what type of users do you have and what would they need and in our case we um let actually many of power users that we have on those several instances we we let them already create content during Utah and Vancouver to already get some some feedback of course um often those power users they can be your um your your best ambassadors they can be your accelerators when it comes to changing uh and they're they're absolutely amazing around feedback they'll they'll tell you honestly what's what's going on um second you want to communicate and you want to communicate early and often so you want to get people excited you want to talk about the amazing new features that they're going to get and the and the struggles that that are going to to be solved but you also shouldn't sugarcoat it and internally we mentioned that it's also still a change that that needs um that that needs preparation and that needs planning and everything and then third um start with your enablement material as soon as possible so maybe documents maybe an internal SharePoint and PowerPoint decks and demos um one thing that we are actually currently doing is that we have the power users actually test their own dashboards the own content that they created in a test environment because end of the day those are the users that of course know their own dashboards and know their own analytics that they created they know it best and and um they again are going to give you the best feedback okay um second part is to explain a little bit on the focus areas like what are we doing to uh aside from the whole development and everything around enablement what are we else doing to support your move to to support that transition into into platform analytics um this is actually all part of the usual go to market strategy that we're following and and enablement that we're doing in platform meaning one of the best ways personally I believe this is one of the best ways with the most potential is actually try to do your enablement in the platform itself so um the question is in what can we do in platform aside from just building what we believe is an improved intuitive experience that is just easier to learn and easier to adopt and easier to use for our end users um other things are also things like guided tours may maybe you can use guided tours to actually help that enablement or embedded help in in the side panel uh one of the things that you will actually see in a migration tool the migration tool itself already gives a little bit of more in-depth information on on the value and on frequently asked questions so a lot of that enablement and a lot of that information can actually already be from the solution itself um the last one that's mentioned here out of the box we are currently actually also improving our out-of-the-box dashboards uh that are related to all the different applications and workflows from the platform and all the application teams those we are changing into improved dashboards within the platform analytics uis as well second documentation uh of course we are updating our doc. servicenow.com um to be fully up to date on platform analytics experiences and specifically the migration so absolutely expect information in our documentation on that one uh Partners part of our goto Market strategy is we are also updating our partners to be aware of this transition in the near future and to also be able to of course support you during that move and aside from partners of course also the uh I I usually call them the the more internal enablers uh for example the account teams um they are aware that this is coming um solution Consultants product success teams as well as impact so if you are an impact customer know that they are also aware and that we are actually currently also updating their own materials to be more in line with the experiences that come with platform analytics as well as the migration specifically learning so of course learning now learning training material will be updated with the content around platform analytics experiences like the visual designer the new dashboards how how they work as well as um kpi details kpi signals making sure that they use the same messaging as as we do as as the product teams whether the the outbound or the inbound product managers we message this thing to you and we were're really aligning on that same messaging similar of course with with marketing um making sure that we communicate the right message at the right time um information in the site as well as of course events like knowledge customer support another one um as with every release they are updated of course on the latest um now the tools itself as I mentioned at the start they are not completely new they were already there as of the Tokyo release but we are now specifically updating also the support teams on the fact that usage of the these tools will actually quickly increase because now is the the moment that that um that you might be considering moving towards the new platform analytics uh uis and and experiences and with that actually um the the usage of those tools will increase and then lastly um the enablement itself so this is this is this is also this team this is uh Dan and Tara and Thomas and Adam and everyone um we learned so many things from you in the previous sessions in in the the specific meetings that we have um and we are actually continuously adapting the training material that we have based on that we're doing that through the community we're doing do that through our customer facing programs like the design partner program research product advisory Council but of course also this Academy like these Academy sessions which are always Super Active a lot of feedback that we hear from from from here and based on that we're adapting to the enablement that we can do um based on all that we um already had I think it was about mid last year that we said let's see if we can do something extra like what what can we deliver more to to basically support you on that Journey understanding what's coming but also uh the migration and moving you into these new experiences um one of them was actually the um a separate set of Academy sessions that we did throughout 2023 this slide is actually showing those um we had many great Academy sessions of course in 2023 I think all of them were were amazing but specifically highlighting these fours because they were so related to to this topic um so the 2023 in this deck is actually clickable it will immediately bring you to the Community website where those Academy sessions are stored but if I highlight a few of them or if I highlight these four um September 6 and 20 we actually did two sessions on the question like why should you move what what is new and and and what are the benefits why why should I actually be moving into these platform analytics so two sessions there if you want to have the full in-depth information and November one Marta did a great session on the migration flow itself I mentioned it uh just before really in detail where going through the migration showing the migration too but actually going through a migration um presenting what will happen and and and also answering the most common or frequently asked questions around that um November 5th I think it was Tera and Dan that dat the great session with was actually more generically targeted as housekeeping your analytics content but it's very applicable as you can utilize that and those tips that were discussed in that in that Academy session specifically when preparing for a clean start so for example in relation with with our migration and then on November 29 we did this um generic Q&A session but with with these topics being so relevant most of the question that you raised were actually related to this so also that one highlighting over here that if you want to understand more um these are these sessions to really go more in detail okay which brings me actually to the third part um and I mentioned we we we were thinking about what can we what can we do what else can we do to really enable you and to get you better adopted into these experiences to be to be able to create good meaningful analytics um if there's one thing that we often heard from you is that um that one you need the content to of course learn yourself but two often you also internally create your own enablement materials to communicate that content to your users to your end users um this part exactly is the thing that that really triggered us like how can how can we support you with that knowing also that we create a lot of that information like documentation and demos and videos ourselves so our goal was to create something like an um enablement Hub that would help you to just um one if you want to learn yourself but not only that you should also be able to reuse that content so that that is actually what we did uh we we decided to build this um what what I started to call I think the enablement toolkit that's full of information around uh platform Analytics as a whole uh but also the the migration in uh uh specifically and all the content that is there is not just to um consume and to learn but also considering that you you are building all your own enabl material H why not have a head start with using ours we already have it we're using it internally we we just said feel free to reuse ours and modify to your needs so there's a lot of content available there H think about key information on things like uh what are those new features what is the migration tool how is it different than before like side by side comparisons um what will what will not change for example and and there's much more so what to to really more in-depth expect um we're we're putting blog posts there with some key information and messaging there uh we decided to build these um often two three minute video Snippets and they are short because they they're super easy to consume and we it is the fact that we currently live in a video consumption world and considering the fact that the moving image is nowadays the best way to pass information that actually sticks we just wanted videos we wanted a lot of videos and we wanted those videos to be publicly available so we we made them not just part of the community pages but we actually host them directly on YouTube from our platform Academy playlist um in case you actually want to actually have the original MP4 files um then of course we can also figure out a way to actually make them available to be uh to be downloaded somewhere um and another thing that we did was we uh wanted to support everything with uh PowerPoints that you can download uh and all these Powerpoints and the image here on the right is actually an example of one of those slides within one of those PowerPoints uh they're following the same sort fixed template um it talks about a certain feature um and then on a detailed level not so much being the new dashboards but for example sharing a dashboard on that feature level it's it's um is a deck that gives a lot of information on things like value things like what what are the benefits what is the USB um who is the target audience what use cases does IT service a highlevel product uh walkth through it's mentioning key functionality impact on setup and Licensing best practices support and resources and FAQ now what we did was within the community we we grabbed all that enabl material and we actually divided them into these M main areas and the first one you see here is a simple whates um so how do we message certain capabilities and certain features and what's the intent and what's the value and then there's a how to uh that goes a little bit more deeper um for example I was just mentioning how to select a uh how to share a dashboard or how to select the data source and then there's the what will happen which is actually to answer more of those common questions that you might have for example what will happen with my analytic sources what will happen with my indicator sources or my PA widgets and then the fourth one being the the before and after something that you also specifically L asked for but give us a sidebyside comparisons how was something before and how is it after something like analytics uh Hub in the core UI versus the kpi details within platform analytics I can actually quickly show something uh more enhanced so this is an example of the content that you can expect uh within that Community as you can see here uh for many we have videos available for many we have PowerPoints available uh but uh it is all there to be using uh the videos are Glo or are publicly available and the Powerpoints are ready to be uh downloaded as you can see with this one uh for all of them there's a video and a PowerPoint available okay um what more to expect because we are actually not done yet uh we are I would say in those things that we identified we are at the 80 85% state but there is more to come um some we already identified that there is still a need for that remaining 15% things like um tell us more about governance and roles during uh Washington zanadu and Yokohama how is Security in platform analytics handled uh there will be more howtos for example howto on um scheduling uh maybe more in depth on on targets and thresholds and how to use kpi details how to use kpi signals how to use proactive insights um so expect more how-to videos of those there will be more what will happen for example with the outof thee boox analytics Solutions the content that we put out there but also with um homepages and Portal information um there's a known list with known I mean um most likely it will be either a Word document or a community post that will just mention something as in what are the the known differences just to give you a little bit of a head start there it could be things that we maybe accepted that we by Design created differently it could also be things that are not supported yet that we're actually still building but already giving you that information and then of course there's an FAQ so we heard a lot of questions throughout these Academy sessions or in conversation that we had with you we're uh putting them all together and we're making sure that the the FAQ so the questions including the answers will also be hosted over there and just to kind of re follow up on that like yeah the it and even if you talk about the remaining 15% honestly I this is really an ongoing effort as we learn more things from you over over time we'll be updating what we've already published and you know as we get your experiences and our own experience as well we'll certainly be updating a lot of this content as we go yeah exactly Dan that's that's that's a fair point this is the 85% um and and the 15% remaining of the things that we identified now there are many things that we will still learn and that we from you that we immediately want to add um so the question can we already use it um I mentioned soon here I know and and maybe as we speak as I'm giving this presentation Thomas might have the the latest and the greatest information but we are actually trying to put it live today uh what we will do is so there is a link here so in the in the in the slide that will actually go there so hopefully soon it will be there once you click the link it will also be a very visible generic place within the community so you will see it you will see it once it's there uh but we're trying to put it out there as soon as possible yeah and I anticipate it being uh being today or early tomorrow morning uh would be the latest so as I as we actually get this recording of this session and I post that out there I would expect that link or QR code to be attached with that that and it it will be featured on the main platform analytics uh landing page of the community so uh you you'll definitely see it so we're in the process of getting uh approvals and all those things to get all of that information out there and we expect that later on today or early tomorrow morning okay um almost closing out there some more tips and tricks and then with this just sharing the approaches that uh we take that could plus possibly also help you in in transitioning to to platform man so these are things that we um see internally that we do internally uh first of all and I mentioned it before stting time and make sure to build a plan even if you decide to upgrade with Yokohama there are things that you can already um maybe not can that you should already start on enablement so so think about some of these things that I mentioned as in hey may maybe already let some of your power users start using the new environment and and really get familiar with it and maybe have them support you with actually building the content those type of things um do the messaging to all your stakeholders so not just the end users um in in your case maybe also discuss this with your service now counterparts maybe with the account teams and with the solution teams as in hey we we heard this um are you aware of that this is our plan going to be um absolutely start using that enablement content we put it out there um for its content we use ourselves but we we put it out there for you to give that that Head Start in building that enablement content reuse those videos reuse those Powerpoints and um hopefully that will will really help you with that Head Start also as mentioned uh trainings and other materials they are being updated on uh the uh um on on a future that is all platform analytics so so absolutely keep an eye on them they will be updated with the latest H and obviously what I'm mentioning here is keep visiting the community and the academy sessions uh the team that's often here is also the team that's actually driving this enablement so we're we're building a lot of that we are driving a lot of that um a lot of the latest messaging that we will do will be put on that Community uh website on that Community toolkit as well as what we do here in the academy we will immediately once we learn something we will mention it here in the academy sessions I also I just want to add real quick on that too and if you don't if there's some information you're looking for that you think would benefit others that you don't see go ahead and you know post it on the community and tag one of us so if it's you know enablement material that would really be useful that we don't have that we don't have available to you yet and we'll try to we'll get it on our list yeah nice SE Dan also into this slide um do that in the community um tag tag Us in the community we we can add it but also to maybe open up the floor here for um I think there are still open questions but maybe maybe you already know of something that would be super helpful on that Journey as extra enablement content that you would expect to see there so we can immediately start working on that and make sure that it's there for you to uh to reuse so anything that you would like what you would further need in that in that Journey um in what would help you with that and they won well I know that we have um quite a few questions here uh RJ if this is a good time to kind of slide some of those in and then also I would say if um dant or Adam have anything to add I know that this slide is probably directly to correlate to the the ones of us that are on here as well so if there's any thoughts or anything that we want to share as it relates to going in this direction I think this is a great opportunity to to share those and we we can even do that before we ask these questions if anybody has anything to add Adam all right okay sorry I was trying to resist but I can't can't uh this is great I I one of the things um R.J said which I I really want to get into is that this is a transition for everybody this is not a technical just switch things are different they're better they're just better they're better they're better a few things um maybe we need to fix to come through but uh it does doesn't matter even if everything was perfect and better it's different we you know we all have tens or hundreds or thousands of people who create reports and so making sure you understand who who has been creating reports or the PA side's much easier but on the report side who's created reports and to make sure that there's some internal messaging about about the benefits of this and here's how you get used to it um to me this this is very analogous um to moving this is may be controversial but moving to the ribbon in office many many years ago for those of us who are old for a new user it's way better it's better even for an old for an existing user but it's different and so making sure we we address that those soft sides with our organization about here's how you do it here's what we're helping you for the videos we have we have lots of resources for you uh for you to pass on to to your to your users but make sure you take advantage of that and don't just uh swap it one day and catch everybody off guard okay great is that it Adam yes that's it for today all right uh Dan I I see that you have around four of those tag live so go for it and I really wanted to address this really to the whole to the whole group here that's most of these I I wanted to answer live just got think it's going to be something that's going to apply to almost everybody and uh maybe putting Robert John somewhat on the spot but I but anyone here who can who has the answers particularly there's a couple of questions a couple of themes here one big theme is around capabilities that are not yet available at least as of Vancouver that uh you know that you say functionalities like the uh like dashboard grouping um like year-over-year comparisons in the you in the data visualizations um do you do we have any specific uh and any specific dat I know the dashboard groupings I just got an update that is uh that is not yet does not yet have a timeline but I'm working on uh working on getting that in the time in the road map um but the year over-year I don't know if we can speak to that yet Robert John if you have any thoughts on that to the or that the period over period comparisons yeah I think that's the um um so so first of all from for the for the things that are still um being being developed when when we when we created the new platform analytics experience and and build the not not just the the whole new tool set but also the charting and all their charting options a lot of new options were added but of course one thing that we always mention or that I always mentioned it it needs to be feature improved it doesn't need to be like feature parody like feature parody would be the same and and the same is is basically going going going back so it it needs to be better so one one of the challenges that we always had was okay at least get it um feature parody but immediately improve one or two uh or or three things um while we're doing that we're we're not there yet indeed a few charts are still missing a few chart options are still missing uh things that will happen through the migration as if if something is not supported it will actually migrate it as what we call in compatibility mode uh in the session that Marta did for migration she she Ted talked about that so you would still be able to consume the old chart as you would used to but it wouldn't be the the new component that we're using for it so one thing that I'm thinking of is because we actually have the road map to deliver these things uh planned out is to get that road map also in this same enablement toolkit to make it to make it visible at least everyone is aware of okay when is a certain thing coming and when when can something be replaced um the year over year I think is actually something that is planned but I I yeah I got to check Marta isn't in the call right no yeah Mar Marta would immediately have known but I that's something that I would need to check just as a heads up for that I know Robert JN is talking about you know some some of that material becoming available yeah I am right now actually putting together and looking to publish on that enablement site a uh kind of the the known features you know kind of what what we know is you know is not available yet when it is likely to come available um and then any in some cases as Robert John said the some of these features may be uh things that we have different ways or better ways to accomplish what we used to do one way in in the core UI so we'll try to be marking down those items as well we'll try to keep and we'll be keeping keeping a running list of that with the big understanding that it's always going to be dependent upon you know always have the disclaimer of the uh of the Safe Harbor dis you know so if we say that you know we're expecting something to be available by zanadu it's possible that could change we and we will update that information as soon as we know that so along with that um there there was a couple of questions along those types of things uh there was a specific question also around the workbench widget and my and uh my understanding Robert Yan I don't know if you if you can speak to that but correct me if I'm wrong but my understanding is that that's something that uh that is likely not going to be directly part of the migration but it's but we're looking to have something that you could that you could have to to you to to recreate or to build um correct yeah the road correct correct so so the work the workbench widget itself which we which we really like um but it's it's hard to see that as a sort of single analytics chart it's basically an experience by itself and therefore it makes it a little bit harder to uh to take it over into platform analytics and immediately also make it a better better experience um that is one that is still uh planned um I I would not be able to say any release uh for it uh what what also for that one will happen is in case you upgrade yourself uh that one will also be in compatibility mode so it would still be there and there will even for the coming releases still be an option for you as admins as as report admins or PA admins to modify it um but ideally we of course also move that into an improved new um charting experience being the workbench so so yes we we we are aware for sure and and it's coming but it's uh we need to figure out the best uh the best way um another question that again anyone is going that you know certainly anyone else can add on to the answers but one question is from Colette saying is this mean that eventually all performance analytics and reports created by users must migrate to the new platform analytics yes the answer to that is yes uh we are um and we and we'll post I'll post the uh link for our for our migration some of our migration previous sessions in the acmy where we talk about that in great detail but the the point is that it's will be an optional migration through Washington and xanadoo for for sure with the idea being that Yokohama would be migration would be turned on by default so we uh so that we wanted to give you a couple and you know so yeah why won't be out for I mean it's going to be going to be a couple of years before most customers are upgrading to why so we want to give you at least a you know a couple of years uh for those who who want to spend a little more time in planning for it and getting ready for it so uh we we want to give you at least a couple of years for that you for that transition but eventually yes everything will move to that all of our new functionality all of our new features all of our improved features are all being built within the platform analytics context and and just to add to that one then and I I kind of when you were when you were mentioning the question I understood it in a different way I I thought like yes you you will have the option like what if you would be in the migration Center in the tool itself you will have the option what on uh to decide what you're going to migrate or not so if there's a thought on clarification yeah yeah on on Old dashboards or old analytics artifacts that you might have that you know they aren't used anymore then consider maybe not migrating at all that would be your immediate cleanup uh there was another question that thought would be good just I think quick one will the migration tool be available on pdis personal developer instances and I don't know the answer to that Robert John do you by chance wants unless somebody wants to correct me yes they'll be available with Washington which our pdis are not on Washington yet but that's that what I do not know the date but that's normally a right around EA so I expect in the next couple weeks uh pdis will have Washington available and then this um uh this app should be available then anybody want to correct me no I I Echo that it is part of just the the family Washington release and and it's there it's I I've seen it so I've seen it um yeah it so everything you here in the next you know in the next few weeks um it once it's available with the pdis um all of the store apps or the vast majority of the store apps gets become available um February 1st I believe is the target date for the store release uh for this quarter and uh Washington EA I believe is the same date it'll be in uh available as pdis then or shortly thereafter um I don't think before I think it's going to be shortly there thereafter I think documentation rolls out right around then uh as well um and uh yeah I believe right next week we'll start seeing the documentation rolled out as a as a choice and then we'll have GA in March but all this stuff should be available the only uh caveat that I know about that the big one at least is um now assist features are not available in pdis but everything else should be if you have a specific question um for analytics I everything's available to come through but if you have a specific question about something it should be available next week otherwise ask your accounting and they can track down uh when how how to get it okay are those all RJ I think you had one that you were gonna answer live yeah so um there are um well I actually marked too um the one on potential risks and things to be aware of transitioning so if there are another good example of one of those things that we will just put out there if if if we know about things uh we will just put as part of the enablement toolkit um yes also to what I mentioned before is do not sugar Cod that's also the same what I don't want to do I want to be honest of course with any migration there are always um things to be aware of and yes there there would always be risks the ones that I up till now saw going through it they all went super smooth um of course there's always a percentage of um dashboards or certain widgets that might not migrate in a certain way uh well because of the fact that it's maybe a um a custom component of something um even then we do it in compatibility mode so for the end user it might not change that much um but yeah there there are for for the majority I always say because most analytics out there is always that dashboards with either simple reports or with PA widget with with also using the most more common use cases let's say like that that bar charts or Donuts or scores and lists and everything and that all works super fine um but but again if there are anything I will we will absolutely mention it as part of the enablement toolkit just to be uh fully transparent on that one y and we do we want to be very transparent I mean our our goal is to make this as to make this migration as trivial as we can possibly make it but we also recognize it's a big one it's a big transition so we know so hopefully hopefully you know 90% of your content will be very trivial will be will just be a very very simple migration hopefully more than that but uh there we know that there will be a few and we'll try to address those um in regards to the compatibility mode is it fair to say then Robert John that anything that does not have a direct migration into the next experience like content blocks or the workbench widgets they will still be in the new dashboards as compatibility C is that that most most analytics or absolutely all analytics charts will be um then there are always these more specific um content blocks or other custom components that that might be an issue um I I don't have actually the latest on that I think we were also still supporting um content blocks by the way if it's just content block with text we we are migrating those into new text Fields but often there are of course other customized code or anything else being put in that and that makes it a little bit harder um there was one actually from uh Anonymous attendee on will platform analy be getting the ability for custom sord columns I I picked this one because this is one of those nice examples where we we where I set feature improve uh one of the things that we imediately wanted to add for our charts was the ability to uh have a more sorting flexibility before this was always on value or on N which kind of makes it um very rigid you didn't have that much flexibility uh with the new you will actually have the option to set your um your your custom sorting uh based on preset values of what those those need to be so and then you can actually later in the data visualization sort by buy your own customized option okay awesome thank you um see uh we'll we'll do the one at the bottom because that does have something to do so any update on content blocks moving into the next experience does do you know anything about that or just said that right yeah that was what I just said they they they will um either as as compatibility mode if it's if it's a simple content block that just has some text uh it will it will nicely migrate if it's something else like custom code that generates something else if frames of web pages or something like that that might be an issue okay sorry about that that's what I get for no worries um the the variables one I I I actually made a screen copy of that one um I I kind of feel that it is might be more of a variable type of issue that we need to look into specifically I haven't seen it before that that uh when when you click it keeps on this spinning loading and if you have something that is that is loading that looks broken to you then you know feel free to ask in the community and screenshots really help or put in a case absolutely if you're you know if you get it the the putting in a case allows us to to talk to you a little bit more closely about what's going on um our support team can come in and maybe just fix it or we'll be able to get all the documentation so that we can recreate it and and get that fixed in the software um but don't don't suffer in silence um if you think it's broken put a case in that's that's why we have our support team um we want to make sure you're getting you know up and working as as soon as possible okay great thank you Adam um and then I'm wondering Adam if you have any sort of insight on that next one uh it's how are you feeling about growth and new metrics in the pi Ai and generative AI spaces we have about three minutes I don't even know if you can get it in that time um the growth I I don't know what we'll talk about in terms of of met you know new metrics and that stuff I I I mean I'll say across all of service now across all of Technology probably the whole world AI has changed everything right what's uh the generative AI unlocks an amazing amount of possibilities for us I think the philosophy that that I see us have I work a lot with um the now assist for Creator um which is pretty pretty related to what we do here it's not it's not going to replace what any of us do um and if you my experience just with with uh AI in general it's not replacing what we do but it's going to help us do it a lot faster um and that's going to be really nice um and whether you know whether it's something as simple as summarizing a case where I I can read all the stuff and summarize it or just do it for me um or I I use it a lot for code generation with code generation it's it's pretty clear it'll write 95% of the code I need it writes 100% of the code 95% of it is correct but it still takes somebody who knows what the other 5 perent is or you'll spend a lot of time spinning but it can be a huge huge Time Savings for us um we are seeing that um again across all of service now and as the technology is ready as it's doing more good than harm um I think you'll see it roll out more functionality I I don't like to talk about what what we're specifically doing or commit to it because we can't release it until it's good right and until it's usable and it is saving you time and so we have a lot of testing that the the the training and the tuning that's where we spend a lot of time doing that and then we can really sit when it's ready um so that's why I don't have a road map you probably won't see much of a road map um about you know text to you know PA indicator when's that going to happen text to dashboard when's that going to happen you know we can do it now but it's not good enough um and so so we'll spend a lot of time working on that and we invest a lot of time and money um and efforts um to make something really great for you to make you more productive okay great thank you Adam and it looks like Raymond is a followup to something else um was that something that you had answered yeah RJ or thank you no I I I think I typed the answer um and and RJ was talking about it but I'll I'll go in because it's easy and thank you I want to end on an easy one um yeah Rich text Rich Text is HTML I think it's HTML in the background to come through but they're in the inline editor um there is there is a rich text block you can just go in and put type in whatever you want put links in um you know link to a KB just put in some text explain what's going on whatever you want to do we did this before with content blocks in in responsive dashboards but you had to have another role you had to know how to do it um it was possible it was never easy and I think this is a great example of where by by talking to you getting your feedback about the need for this we just built it in and made it incredibly simple to do no extra roles uh no having to look at a different place you know you can add a widget you can or you can add a data visualization you can add a filter you can add a rich text block um it's just there and simple y we want to simple is better simple is good simple is better simple is better and and I I think it follows up this was one that we saw lots of people doing it's important that you share with us um when we're asking in the in theems tell us what you're trying to do um tell us where it's hard we want to make it easy to do the things that you do all the time um you know I think in some of these sessions Thomas will explain how to do really really difficult things um and sometimes it's possible but but challenging um but if you're doing it every day you're doing it on every Dashboard please share um so we can figure out how to make it even simpler if if in the rich rich Tex is incredibly flexible but if you know no I need to show the contents of a a KB article um I I need to include a service catalog item we can make it easier but it's it's really helpful when you share what you're trying to do why you're trying to do it so we can help build a solution that makes it easy and simple and fast for you to do that okay awesome thank you Adam so we are over by a couple minutes so quickly let me kind of just go through some things and get you out here um again you're aware that the community is out there make sure that you're checking that out I'm actually as we speak getting the uh videos that R.J was talking about getting those uh posted I got uh teams messages from the one who's uh looking over that and we got the blessing so that'll be going out here shortly uh again check out theems that we have we have a couple more planned we have a lot planned I got to actually get those out there as well but um in two weeks we're actually well again now learning has some stuff but in two weeks this is a really great place to start for yourself or even uh other users that you have to get familiar with the inline Eder that's actually going to give them the ability to start creating a lot of this stuff that we're actually talking about so this will be a really great session that you'll want to check out and then after that two weeks after that we'll actually have the what's new in Vancouver that or Washington I'm sorry for you to actually get even more information about what's coming in that release so with that thank you as usual sorry for going over a few uh minutes but it's great to have everybody back for 2024 thank you RJ and all the panelists as well for answering questions and presenting and we'll see everybody in two weeks thank you
