[Music] whenever you want to create some new analytics content you need to select the right chart for your data and the information need in our platform analytics visual designer this is pretty easy you can either select a data source first or immediately select the chart you want to build in the side panel all the charts are listed Cate ized by their charting type you can use the search field to directly filter toward the chart you want to use let's select a vertical bar chart in this example the visual designer will open the configuration side panel right now it doesn't show the chart immediately as we haven't selected the data yet so for this example we will quickly select some demo data from the incident Table after we added this Source it will show the same visual designer UI again but now the vertical bar chart will show some data it will group it by the first available field if we change that for example into category we will see the vertical bar chart grouped by category on our incident table with these settings already in you can of course still decide to change your data visualization chart type into something else for example a donut chart or any other chart whatever chart you choose make sure the chart really enables your end users to find the Insight they are looking for the chart type can make or break how meaningful your data information can be also it's good to understand that the chart type you select will Define the chart options you have available or that certain other charts first require you to select some other settings or input for it to work for example this heat map where you need an additional field configured for it to show the data within the columns versus the rows this all was from the platform analytics visual designer but of course this works the same from the side panel you use within your dashboard configuration so from the platform analytics simple inline editor dashboard you can easily add a new chart once you added a data visualization to your dashboard it will directly open that same side panel for you to start selecting the chart type this is consistent with the side panel in the visual designer you can select the charts select the data and set the chart options to show specifically that data information in the way for it to be meaningful for your end users as mentioned before chart type selection is very important selecting the right chart for your need will Define how easy it will be to understand the insight there are many best practices and guidelines online that help with what chart type to use in what situation always make sure to spend some considerable time for this chart configuration [Music] he
