were on the germ tube well I was in Toronto which apparently there was like a bunch of so I met up we have a new client lead training I think I saw it on your calendar yes and she well we have a new PTC starting next week but we have a new client lead oh no my teabag fell out does that ever happen to you yes all the time or that that the last part falls off and then the little string Gets In The Water yeah yeah but um our new client lead I am super super super excited about she's awesome like so awesome awesome she's out of Toronto so yes there's a lot of good Canadians out there I know we had me and the other client leads not that I am a client lead but me and the client leads um went and had a drink with her in Toronto before the holid party she's very impressive I am very excited she's going to do great is she start the new year or is starting now yeah she's waiting to um start in January so which makes total sense I mean it's you know mid middle of December so yeah they don't have to deal with the uh crazy sales idiots trying to meet their numbers we had I think four deals closed yesterday cuz me and Morgan were working through some resourcing so one of them was mine I saw it I was like oh that actually happened I'll have to go look at which one it was yeah it's uh SPM okay then I know which one which apparently is David's least favorite David Shake yeah well we love our project management people but they're very particular yes yes and you know I don't know with SPM I feel like more people should start small you know yeah like yeah just don't try to you know we were just talking about this with a client today who is another Law Firm I know you had one that you talked to earlier this week and we were just like you know half the time that the the the um the accelerators I'll use that word half the time the accelerators are an issue is when they're just not fit right with the company and their expectations and fortunately this guy was like no no no we're you know we've got a million projects and this is just one of a million and so if we can just get started and then kind of iterate over it I'm like oh okay see I feel good about this you're not coming in here thinking that we're going to migrate three years worth of data and yeah have some Predictive Analytics available on day two yeah the last it was still PPS or PPM cuz they changed it like four times when I did it and I loved the lady I was working with um like the main lady over their pmo she was awesome but some people on her team were not so awesome and so it was a very interesting experience we got and I got but I got to do team spaces which I had never gotten to do before and so I got to do team spaces on that project because they all have their different processes and templates and so yeah but that was [Music] 20 19 so it's been a while it's changed a lot since so you know on that speaking of that I mentioned the last time we talked um or our last podcast that I met I don't maybe we didn't record this part but I met with the admin experience team oh yeah you Serv now yeah and part of when he started his deck he showed original service now that I had never seen before this is I guess when it was on Prem and people install it themselves and I was like oh my gosh has it come a long ways yeah yeah yeah it has cuz I even was looking even just in our crosses instance at something the other day and was like this has gotten better I can't remember what it was I want to say it was the project planner view so yeah yeah is it the project workspace and seeing all that stuff yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah it's pretty slick stuff um it doesn't perform as well as I'd like but you know yeah it'll get there maybe yeah I think I think well you you may know about this like okay so you're an admin of an instance mhm you've got users requesting stuff you've got applications that are being planned to install right your Implement your road map or whatever that you've just talked about then you've got like upgrades and then in addition to upgrades you've got the crazy store delivery model where they're just rolling out updates every other month right um in fact there's a big bunch of fixes that came out this week or or end of last week and and then you've got um the where was I headed with this you've got uh the actual what am I trying to say the like enhancements that people want to it's not like a request but it's like this doesn't work right or or when I load a project with over 101 tasks there's a delay and I have to wait and it's annoying so there's like this performance tuning that admins can do but I don't think anybody gets time yeah to like go after that stuff cuz all the other stuff for bigger rocks very true but there's a lot of little things like I do for our showcase instances this would give away some secrets to anybody who's bothering to listen um like the default number of rows to display in a list makes a huge difference in performance yeah and with the visual task boards which are my favorite things ever it's defaulted to there can only be 100 cards out a box so until you archive some it only goes up to 100 so I was like please don't have 100 on one of these but I so when I first started here um you quickly realize when you demo that people love visual task boards yeah so people love it people so you have to show that in a demo but if you're not a seasoned demo you might accidentally pull up the incident table and then try to go straight into a visual task board which is not a good idea when there's 12,000 incidents on that table it ruins the demo um I always filter it down to just the service desk and then my pass same here yep no I I got to do a demo on Monday and I was like I haven't gotten to just do a demo and so was fun especially you said that audience was really receptive like they they were cuz so their sharewell end of life and so it was nice cuz they just a couple of them had seen it before either at a previous job or just through sales Cycles but many of them were not involved and so they were very excited to just see anything yeah so I was like here are things I wish I would have known so I'm like navigating and clicking and they're like oh my God yeah it was fun I ask you this question every so often and I'm going to try again um any any Vancouver stuff that has come bubbled up to your attention in the since the last time I asked was trying to think I don't think I haven't been able to do my Deltas yet me neither yeah those are on my list for after this week it's like quiet hours at work so I'm like perfect time for me to get all my training points for CMA done and submit the rest of my points that I owe kind of like catch up on all the office stuff you have to do yeah pretty much so I have to do reviews and gotta love it is that uh you're welcome to that world yeah yeah I mean do you know that I I was a manager in my previous life okay yeah yeah I'm just saying welcome back yeah he back and you get to do the reviews cuz you know someone's leaving yeah I I guess someone will bring me up to speed on that yeah I mean I can walk you it not right now but later it's it's all good I I um I don't know I don't want this turn into a management podcast but I have very specific thoughts about how to manage and especially those subway maps now I was so excited by that I was looking at it again last night and I wrote a note to myself I was like that's just that was a really cool idea I don't know I still huge shout out to Carl good old Carl I met him once Carl's awesome so like I said the the UK team when we have our company events I I I'm in and out um I know not to linger they are party animals and so yes I have now twice been caught with the Brits and realized very quickly that I cannot I can hang but I can't hang if that makes sense like in the moment I'm great but the next morning I'm dying yeah they are marathoners they are not sprinters like yes American I think go and like have a good time get wasted and go to bed the UK team is like let's go till 5: in the morning yes well and we just don't really drink that much anymore like if if we're celebrating something like when I got my promotion I went and got real Wine Not box wine got real wine and then like when he got his new job like we he had some Jack Daniels I had some wine or yeah I think that's all I had but we just we don't drink anymore do you guys ever watch CNN no I I read CNN on the website but I don't watch it yeah so for some reason right now there are like a million commercials around the Medicare enrollment sure that season yeah are they making you cry no they last for 4 hours I sit there and I'm like is this commercial still on and it's this lady named Martha and they're like Martha why don't you just just call she's like I've already called and you're like this commercial is 4 minutes long like you just sit there and you're like w and it's extra loud because of the audience they're trying to I hate that about commercials where like or or um scary movies will do that too where they'll they'll lower the volume before something's about to happen and I'm just like until you're turning it up trying to hear and then and it scares you yeah but my favorite part on scary movies when I will watch them is when they do that and then there's nothing scary like they get it worked up where you're like ready and then they don't do it yeah they're just they're desensitizing you as what they're doing yeah I'm we just finished um The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix okay I've watched two or three episodes of that I think that wait is that the one where the kids are like ones a WR yep okay so I've watched maybe five episodes it's definitely good did have you seen the Usher one yet that we talked about no we have it we have it ear marked because he was going to watch it without me on a plane and I was like uhuh I hope you downloaded something else it's good head placement Alison I what it's good head placement right now yeah there's pornography B around behind you you see all the grass on her I was going to ask what's all her yeah it's grass because her and R look at her she's like she's like what you're talking about me well she we put her her and Riley play in the yard and whenever she makes Riley mad Riley just kicks the crap out of her and they're like having fun but we put her new crate together and so I've crate trained a dog cuz for our for my old dog it was it was his safe space and so we made it a friendly like it was never a pun punishment it was always just his space where he went when we left or he if we had visitors cuz he didn't like people and so I've been like Rory where's your house let's go get in Rory's house and so I crawled in there with her partially I can't fit all way in it cuz I'm Too Tall but so I'm trying to get her excited about it you just gave me the weirdest thought and I'm not high you know on my intro of my videos is welcome to Justin's house like what if she saw me like crawling into a crate welcome to Justin's house say I have a house have you crawled into it to teach her yet I crawl halfway in and she'll crawl in there and lay down with me and so I put like half my body in so she can get all the way in but tonight will be our first test we're going to go down town and meet some friends for a little bit nice good for you guys David totally checked out by the way he's like shorttime remote 100% yeah oh yeah well tomorrow we drive to Virginia so you okay you can go over there thank you oh we got red check behind you too now that I know that that means what Buffalo check yeah I have my Buffalo check yes that's my Giant hoodie my mom got me for my birthday I'm seeing it everywhere now that you've told me about it now I see it everywhere yep I know we haven't watched Fall of the House of Usher yet it's on our list definitely recommend it yes I did watch the Barbie movie on my flight home from Toronto and and I think I had like it was it was good so don't get me wrong it was good and had some good parts and Ryan goling was hysterical as Ken but it wasn't like lifechanging like people were making it out to be and I don't know if it's just cuz I'm old so I'm like not this empowered young woman who's dating a crappy guy I don't know like there were like articles of women were leaving their men after watching the Barbie movie and I'm like okay yeah that's what it took I guess a good thing yeah well I'm kind of like I I don't know which part it was a revelation to them so that's why I was kind of like good for them but also I I don't know which thing it was so gotcha I I mean it was a cute movie and it was well done and there were some like really good like lines and stuff in there especially around like expectations of women of like you need to be fit but not too fit and you need to be this but not to this and you need to work but you need to pay attention to your kids like I was like okay that resonates but it had nothing to do with a man it just I think people need to stop telling each other what they need to do I know mind your own damn business exactly you want be a stay-at home mom or power to you I love my kid but it is not in my DNA and if you want to decate for Christmas in October more power to you exactly I told that to David you got a big shout out on the channel someone actually quoted you in the comments and they were like they quoted you you said I don't judge what brings people Joy or something like that and I was like yep that was my favorite quote from Allison too if it brings you Joy more AR to you it's a good way to live life if you want to have a holiday tree that's I saw you looking at me Rory Rory say hello she's so big I ate part of mommy Santa Claus and I am digging to China is she getting is she going to get bigger still I think she's done heywise but I think she still needs to fill out like girth is that the word I don't know like she skinny she's still pretty skinny but we've got to call the vet to see when we can have her procedure done so I was uh watching the other night a documentary with um uh what's his name Will Arnett he host he did the voiceover it's called Island of the Sea Wolves and they were showing these Seawolf puppies and what I thought was the most striking thing about it is these puppies have giant adult Paws but these little puppy bodies so like you have these huge Paws and I'm just like and this littley puppy body I'm like oh they're so cute that's crazy oh no should I remember I feel like we watched what do we watch the oh we're watching the squid games series not The the challenge The Challenge and it's interesting like it's fine cuz no one actually died guys you know so we finally watched that one show you told me about the 100 yeah it was really interesting did you watch it in Korean or did you watch it in English English okay so you was the voiceovers yeah yeah same we did the same I don't do subtitles like I can't I try but I get too distracted that I'm just reading and not even watching the show so I prefer subtitles but he doesn't The Great Outdoors no the movie you told me about no I haven't watched yeah I just don't know how you haveen it watch Lip lip or and lips or something lips and lips and what hot dogs are made out and why David won't eat them which by the way when I did the video so when you do a YouTube video you have to say if there's any swear words or anything and and because it's not on the list of really bad swear words and it's not in the first like couple minutes I didn't have to say anything I'm just going to let it go so nice nice apparently advertisers don't care how filthy you are 10 minutes into your episode yeah starting it off like hey mfers yeah I won't say that one on our well there's a there's a YouTube show for YouTube creators and so they publish like once a week tips or changes to the program or new features and stuff like that when they did the whole language thing this poor guy he had to say like 10 times if you say blank and he said the words blank blank blank blank blank and just like and then and then he gets to the next part and he's like just to reemphasize if you say blank blank I'm just like oh this poor guy that's so awkward to just sit there and rattle off a bunch of swear words I wouldn't want to do it oh that's crazy I couldn't do that it's better than SP swear words are better spontaneously because they capture your attention because you're not expecting it kind of like the scary movies yeah I used to never cuss like at all like growing up my parents were super strict like we weren't even allowed to say but wow or fart we weren't allowed to say that either passing gas no they instead of like you can say Fanny and my brother's like I don't want to call someone a fanny hit cuz it just loses its you sting yeah wow are there there are are there any swear words permissible for Dexter no no he says crap which I try to get him to stop doing that he does say fart which I try and say let's say tooting cuz you're five you know he loves to talk about farts and I think I've told you about his farting books yes yes yeah so he's getting one from Santa called artsy fartsy the farting penguin or something has no one taught him how to fart with his armpits yet I don't know but he'll come up sit down be like I love you Mommy and then go hahaa I toed on you and run off oh no no no that's that's a that's a wrong yeah that's mean it's a little boy thing it's like getting under the covers and letting one rip no there are no dutch ovens in this house other than the one I bake with oh with my bread I was listening to the when I was editing and you had their cake conversation and um yeah you have you baked anything recently I haven't been home so no because we went to Oklahoma for Dexter's birthday cuz that's where my entire family is then we were back then we went to Virginia for me as birthday then we were back and I went to Chicago between then we were back for one week went to okoma for Thanksgiving back for one week we're in Toronto for the Christmas party then I was in Atlanta this weekend we're in Virginia again so I will be doing all of my Christmas cooking next week so and toffee and I make cheex mix I might make something else this year David D told me about his sausage balls oh they're they sound really good they are and they're easy that's what he makes I don't make those I could but that's his thing all he needed to all he needed to start with is the secret ingredient and I would have been like well I'll eat whatever that is so yeah well I found a recipe for like a Oreo crusted like red velvet cheesecake so I will be making that for Christmas day I love Oreos I love the you can buy the well here you can you can buy the pie crust made out of Oreos well this one I'll have to send you the recipe cuz it's a it was on a Tik Tok video but then I just got the recipe from it but it's the big Oreos and then the little ones in between and their space Stay full I haven't had an Oreo in probably 5 years I bought some like a week ago cuz I was at the store and I was like oh I had an Oreo in a while if I get a sweet tooth it's going to be something sweet and sour or like um Skittles or nerds or something like that and then I'm then it's out of my system for like a good six months I don't it just not interested yeah I used to do like I'd keep chocolate chips in the house so if I wanted something sweet I'd grab like a few chocolate chips and I'd be good yeah that sounds good actually if you get the dark one it's even less sugar so well the Lily brand is like it's obviously still chocolate but chocolate's not necessarily bad for you so it's like the cleaner version of chocolate that tail is a mess she is a hot mess that tail is like a broom built-in broom I know she needs a bath we have a Mobile Groomer and I think she comes the week after Christmas maybe so well this episode is going to come out the week of Christmas so do you have any it'll be 2 days after cuz Christmas be on Monday so this will come out on I'm almost done with your shopping oh crap that was I need to do that yep I was shopping today I've almost got all my shopping done I almost asked David earlier about some tips but I didn't it's okay I didn't want him to influence me one way or the other that's fair it's okay I had him look at stuff for Dexter because I'm like I'm not a boy did you know Lincoln Logs are back no but I grew up with Lincoln Logs I did too so I'm he was like I will send you do you really think he wants linoln logs I was like look he wants me to play with him all the time and I love Lincoln Logs I like that type of thing so we got him some Lincoln Logs and a Lego set because he likes to do Legos D it yeah Legos are cool so we got him those and he's like what if he doesn't play with the Lincoln loss I was like I will play with I mean it's good architecture learning too you know like well I just not I have never been into superheroes or that type of thing and that's all he wants to play other than when he wants to play Doctor which I'm just the patient so I get to lay down on the floor you know or sit in his recline or his little rocking chair but the I just can't do the superhero thing like I do because that's what you do but I'm yeah I don't enjoy it I would love Lincoln Logs I would literally sit and play all day with with Lincoln Log we had Lincoln Logs uh railroad tracks the wooden wooden railroad tracks and constructs I don't know if they still make those was that kind of like the connects or whatever they were similar similar they were more they had these little knots and you fasten things to them and um but connects was one Legos we weren't we W in a big Lego house but as an adult I love Legos cuz they have really adult kind of things now like are hard to put together problem with Legos is you put them together and you're like I already got too much in my house what did I do with this thing and I don't know if you're like David like he's very minimalist like he purges his closet multiple times a year like we have my off now is cluttery because we have so Rory has been eating everything wooden in our house and so a lot of our Christmas like this it's wood we came home it was on the floor and there's teeth marks on it so we're leaving tomorrow so literally all of our Christmas stuff is sitting in my office it's cuz you could shut the door and keep her out exactly so while we're gone I don't have to worry about my Santas that my grandmother gave me you know that are very special to me tell you I have a recommendation I won't send you this for a gift um but Haley loves chewing stuff pieces like you're talking about these have been a game Cher it looks like plastic but they can they can swallow the that come off of it okay you might have to send me a link to it yep and they're super tough and I'm reading the thing but they have a bacon flavor so they're there's a reason for them to do it and here's the biggest benefit you will never have to pay for a tooth cleaning because this clean their teeth like perfectly I to look it up I can't believe I had thought about it until just now she is the digging and the chewing are really the only bad things like she do you see the Tik Tok videos of the dogs like I'm following Mom all around the house or whatever that's not yet no I'll send you one and then you'll start getting them but like if I go pee she's right there waiting so Haley's not an inside dog she's she was an outside dog and now she has like the office right but she's still right I've noticed when I have like a big day outside she will follow me everywhere yeah and it's sometimes it's annoying it's like you're in my way move yeah that's she's not too bad of tripping me that she is right there at all times I I find you can tell me like what you think about this like I'd rather not kill you with a Thousand Cuts throughout the week and like if I know I'm if I'm meeting with you on Thursday I'll just save it for Thursday if it's not urgent I mean do you want to do it like mid week that way we kind of cover week to week like on a Wednesday yeah hump day hump day with Justin and all exactly don't take us to do mornings with Mark morning with Mark and then I had damn it with David I don't know driveby by David yeah cuz he just drive by J with Justin with Justin yes I like it it's alliterative mhm I like alliteration so well yes mornings with Mark were fun except I would literally wake up and see on my phone like an 8 a.m. meeting from Mark and I'd be like dude a.m. you don't need to be awake at 8 a.m. so this just mean to do to people that's when I added I don't know if you cuz I gave you full read writes to my calendar my 8 to n says prep for the day and has walked every single day I did I did see that and I'm similar I'm so my strategy I'll give it away for everybody to hear is and if I've said this before just tell me to shut up at like at the end of today I will look at tomorrow if there were any holes those are getting filled up because the last thing I need is to wake up in the morning and think my schedule is X and wants to talk about you know watch me have him me watch him write an email for an hour at 400 p.m. eastern time yeah so I've gotten really good about if there's if you haven't booked it by the day before you don't get it yeah I usually save like one slot for something potentially urgent but I generally do the same thing and sometimes if I had just a real bad week I look at my next week and like proactively block my 4 to5 every day just to give you sanity yeah yes I haven't done that a lot but there have been a couple weeks where I was like I just I can't I need my mental sanity so I so I remember the last time I managed I think the biggest frustration I had as a manager was I had no time to sit and think meaning like it was just like from this to this to this to this to this to this to back AOG of stuff I haven't got done yet and I think um this time around I'm going to make sure that there's like 30 minutes I'm not going to meditate but I'm going to sit there and let my brain process what needs to be done and come up with ideas right because that's you have to be in a mental space for it that was my biggest frustration there's just no time to think yeah so I was reading one time I don't know if you've ever done this but it's apparently like a actual thing that therapists have said as a thing if I'm in like backtack meetings all day and then especially when I was teaching the past 10 weeks weeks it was like I didn't have a single moment to myself and so even though I was exhausted I would stay up and like do my daily crossword puzzle or scroll Facebook even though I was sitting in bed exhausted but because I hadn't had a chance just for me at once during the day I can't remember what they said the medical term was but I was like yes if I have not had that moment just to for me it's a recharge you're recharging batteries your your extrovert batteries cuz you're like me I'm not naturally an extrovert yeah and I'll take your example if I get a late plane flight in maybe I come home at 2:00 in the morning I can't go to bed I may be exhausted but I'm like I got to watch TV or those I can because I I don't refuse to buy Wi-Fi on a flight but it has to be a really good reason that I'm going to buy Wi-Fi on a flight so I am unreachable for the duration of my flight and so it's I can read I can watch a movie I can binge watch a show depending on how long my flight is so that I don't struggle with as bad I've only bought Wi-Fi on a flight like maybe six times in my entire career because I just refuse most of the time I buy it doesn't work yeah it's like or I can't put my credit card in and I'm stuck Merry Christmas yes well well we are we on Monday are you going to be to do Monday yeah like I said I'm almost done with here shopping okay so I need to get on that I have um I'm excited today cuz I have shoes that came from China o I bought them on Instagram okay because it was during the um turkey stuff the uh oh yeah yeah Black Friday and so I just bought all you may not know this I'm a minimalist shoe wearer so yeah so my my shoes are they're they're Barefoot style shoes so basically I have the to shoes and I have um other ones there's like no tread on them that's that's my style so this must have picked up in the algorithms so I'm on Instagram and it popped an ad for another one that was really cheap and I was like oh cool this is a brain I haven't heard of let me try it so I order it it takes like a week before they even ship it which is weird and then it ships and I'm like and it's like it'll be there in two weeks I'm like where the heck is this coming from so I go online and it's like from China some city in China I'm like you're shipping like a pair of shoes from China like this makes no sense economically like I don't even know what the shipping cost are I didn't pay for it for shipping it was free shipping so they're coming today and I have no idea what I'm in for oh that should be interesting maybe I'll bring them to our next recording so you yes I'll need to see them all right all right happy Thursday thanks for extra recording and uh well if you see you need reschedules that's because I'm trying to accommodate all my new
