okay then well thank you very much for everybody joining today I'm really excited to welcome you to our webinar around uniting design and execution to winning digital transformation we think we've put together a really strong agenda that's going to help us explore the benefits of how we're bringing together business Le architecture management alongside application portfolio management that's going to enable our business and it leaders to make more informed smarter decisions around what they want to do from a technology investment perspective as they digitally transform their organizations now as part of housekeeping I'm Duty bound to bring up our service now safe safe har slide this is just to inform that throughout this presentation there may be some forward-looking statements that are being made and for you not to Bas your purchasing decision based on those forward-looking statements now I'm joined today by an Este steam panel of uh speakers from Biz design and from Shell so before we go into the agenda we're just going to introduce who the speakers on the webinar are now I'm going to start on the left hand side so my name is James Ramsey I'm a product management director at service now and I specialize in the Strategic portfolio management and application portfolio management products that would provide on the service now platform over to you Nick Thanks James hi uh Nick Reed Chief strategy officer at bis design I focus on our value proposition developments and strategic Partnerships including uh our relationship with service now uh I'm I'm the leader of digital Innovation and Technologies with in shelle and also the product owner for our EA tooling stack yep and last but not least certainly not my name is Frank fof I am the lead architect in it for it at Shell and I have the honor and pleasure to work closely with Yun on the business platform but I also have the service now platform in my portfolio right then a quick overview of our agenda and and then we'll get cracking so we're going to start out with Nick is going to give an overview and set the scene around the challenges that organizations are facing in terms of how they're looking to plan out digital transform transformation and as he goes through that uh section he's also then going to provide business designs perspectives on bringing together design and execution and we'll also then touch on how is design and service now look to work together I'm then going to pick up the Baton and we're going to look in terms of the importance of establishing that strong Foundation of information for our Enterprise Architects as they look to perform their future State planning and then we'll hand over then to hun and Frank we will then talk about how they're actually achieving this with inside shell today we're going to leave some time for Q&A at the end of the session so as we go through the session you should all see a Q&A tab at the bottom of your screen so if you have any questions please register in that section and we'll try and answer them as we go through the presentation but we'll also at the end in the Q&A section we'll we'll pose them to the the various speakers who they most relevant to answer those questions so with that Nick over to you to get cracking okay thanks James and uh we're here to talk about uniting design and execution to win in digital transformation and to set the scene you know we all live in a digital world today and that means you know the way we do business has significantly changed both from a a business model perspective in terms of the the products and services that we can offer um including more datadriven products and services these days and but also the way we operate our businesses from an operating model perspective in terms of the business processes that we run and how people and data and Technology interact uh in the business processes and of course digitization enables um greater automation of those processes um but also for more intelligence uh to be placed into those processes and and the analytics we can run both to inform uh actions in those processes but also how we analyze and improve those processes and you know we are very much in the area era of intelligence now and you know it's been a remarkable last 12 months with with generative AI really hitting the mainstream and having a a huge impact on all kinds of businesses and certainly from my perspective it's probably the the fastest the broadest and and deepest adoption of of new technology in my lifetime including you know the emergence of of the worldwide web um with correspond impacts and you know we've been in this era actually for for some years with uh artificial intelligence and advanced analytics you know working under the hood in in the products and services we use on a frequent basis for example in the fraud detection around our credit cards but also in in the user experiences of the streaming services we use what's happened though in in the the last few months is you know that consumability of of AI in the form of chap chap G GPT and and other similar Technologies is it's really open the doors to to everyone using that that kind of Technology uh and incorporating it into all kinds of products and services so it's really making it much more accessible to everyone and all of this digitalization you know with with digitized products and services very often it it makes it much easier for customers to switch between products and providers uh and creating a winner takes all kind of dynamic in the market and in that situation there's no prizes for second place now many organizations are more Mission driven maybe less of a competitive aspect but that pressure uh and demand for better user experiences and more value for customers uh is nevertheless there and in this kind of situation you know being able to move fast and and have real Focus around digital transformation is are the real critical success factors and critical capabilities for successful digital transformation but and there's always a but you know it's really hard um it's really hard to get line of sight across different silos to understand the impacts and dependencies of change there's functional silos departmental silos geographical silos each working you know maybe with their own tools and data and it's hard just to know what's going on in all of the different uh silos but it's increasingly difficult to understand if you're making a significant transformation how that impacts all of these stakeholders but it's also really hard to prioritize when everyone's putting in their demand s for Investments funding resources and and they've got their different gaps and improvements they want to make to their business it's really hard to get all of this competing demand onto a consistent and coherent basis for an Apples to Apples comparison so that you can place your Investments where you get the highest return on investment and then once you've done that it's also really hard to get all the different stakeholders aligned around change so that different diverse stakeholders with different goals and motivations are actually all pulling in the same direction around shared road maps for Change and why is it so hard well there's a a complex data challenge at play here and there's lots of data required to understand this complexity and it typically exists in a range of different data silos in spreadsheets around around the Enterprise cmdbs of the technology that's running in the Enterprise project management systems describing what's going on where in terms of change and execution activities business Process Management Systems describing the processes and operations of the business the human Capital Management Systems describing the organization structures the Departments and functions and roles and financial systems in informing what it all costs and then there's subject matter experts who understand the nuances of the business and understand how you're going to win in different scenarios and of course there Shadow it where the emergence of SAS applications mean business execs can go out and and procure new applications for specific purposes without involving it and in order to understand the digital transformation you've got to kind of connect all this together so you you can see the big picture and and connect the dots to understand how it all fits together and works together and you need to report across this complex connected data set to inform those different stakeholders and give them the answers that they need um to to be able to meaningfully uh fulfill their role in that transformation and of course it's not standing still all of this stuff is is getting updated and refreshed over time you've got keep track of that and synchronize all of this data and existing tooling spreadsheets videos PowerPoints cannot handle this so you need something in place a platform to bring it all together connect the dots so you can make sense of it and get your arms around the complexity and that's where bis design comes in with our Horizon Enterprise architecture platform that has this connected architecture repository at the core connecting the dots across across all these different dimensions of the Enterprise with an integration capability to pull in data from wherever uh that data lives and of course service now is one of those major platforms typically managing all the it but in many cases managing an awful lot more than that that is crucial to inform these connected architecture models and then the modeling and Road mapping capability to be designed in that future Enterprise the target of of where you want to get to in your digital transformation supporting the co-creation of that with business stakeholders who have the business insight and providing that North Star for the digital transformation and importantly the analytical capability so that you can analyze all of these models understand the priorities the gaps the dependencies the impacts of change so you can make the right plans and make the optimal decisions with the collaboration capability so you're engaging all the right stakeholders through the channels where they need to be engaged and the governance around it to effectively govern how all of that happens together and the point of that is to generate targeted insights and decision support for all of those stakeholders who need to be necessarily involved in this change you it's a complex multidisciplinary activity so that they can answer the questions that they have in the in with the analytics in the right form so that they can make the right decisions at the right time and this is just some examples of the kinds of questions that they may need to answer and this is all in support of you know the design of that future Enterprise the design of the transformation to envisage what are the Strategic goals the business model the experiences and the e ecosystem required so that you can understand and map that on to current business capabilities and understand the gaps so that you can plan those Transformations towards that kind of Next Generation operating model where you're taking advantage of digital and data to drive those step changes in productivity and profitability uh in the organization and of course it's not just about the design this is about uniting the design and execution and a lot of that information about the current state necessarily is coming from service now where a lot of that current state is typically managed and a lot of the execution of change is happening and so you can see here on this slide where APM from service now fits the kinds of information typically being managed in service now APM and how bis designs APM Plus Solution uh has a complementary fit with that with a more architectural perspective on portfolio management and of course beyond the specific APM products oops there are um broader platform support from service now and bis design to take into account other disciplines and other aspects of transformation where B design also brings in you know more General Enterprise architecture activity and so the point of this is by bringing together these two platforms were able to unite and have a seamless collaboration between the the business design activities in bis design that bring together those different dimensions of planning and design for digital transformation with the execution and management activities that can take place in service now and with that I'll hand over to James so thanks Nick I'm going to share my screen and here we go right so I really like the the visualization in terms of that that V diagram provides in terms of showing the two halves of what needs to come together in order to form that underlying footprint to enable organizations to successfully digly transform so in my in my two hats inside my role looking at strategic portfolio management and application portfolio management one of the one of the additional benefits to that it's how we can connect what we're talking about here to the overall goals and okos of organiz ganizations as they're delivering it now in my section I'm going to talk about the importance of having that strong foundation and it's going to be no surprise that I'm going to talk about the left hand side of that V diagram and how we are enabling that strong Foundation now I think everybody in this session is allware of the dangers of if we go ahead and start planning and building for the future the dangers of doing that on a on a weak set of Foundations and really when we're architect for the future of an organization when we're looking to have that architecture supported our new business strategy it's equally important that we we start from that strong Foundation Bas to provide the Architects with all the information that they need to provide that uh future set designs now we achieve that inside the service now platform by using a capability we call application portfolio management that's all about establishing that single source of Truth for the technology of state now I think all of you will be familiar with the concept of a cmdb and I would imagine most of of the attendees on on the call today have their cmdb with inside the service now platform and nobody corrects a cmdb just for fun it's got to be there to add value to the business now the importance of application portfolio Management in service now is that it's intrinsic with inside the cmdp and it allows us to provide that business context to what we're doing from a technology perspective and we do that by providing four lenses into the business one of one of those is the application lens so essentially what we're talking about here is centralizing the visibility of our business applications understanding their deployments and the relationships to that underlying Tech Technologies supporting their delivery from that we are able to analyze and make decisions on what we want to do across that a state the next lend is is the business portfolio and this is where we look to align that technology state to the strategy of the organization and we do that via a capability map so as we associate applications to to capabilities we're then able to measure and identify where we have technology gaps or things we need to think about where we future designing where our technology state is not supporting those capabilities we need from a business perspective and also identifying redundancies where we've obvious multiple applications supporting a particular capability all really useful information as we start to do that future State Design the third lens is the technology lens and there's two aspects to this one is looking at it from a a view of the application portfolio and the technology components being utilized there in accordance with compliance and the compliance to our technology reference model what applications are using Hardware or software that are not aligned or not approved to be used with inside our organization and the second area is to look at it from a technology risk management perspective what are our critical Services underpinned by our applications being supported by software and Hardware that are coming end of life going end of support presenting risks to the business both from a security vulnerability perspective the final lens is the information lens and this is looking at it from our information object where are critical information assets and being used across that portfolio this allows us to then see both to guard against you know security vulnerabilities but also plan from a a risk and and compliance perspective because we can quickly identify based on the information being utilized in those applications what policies and controls those applications need to comply with now all of what we we look at in terms of that information state from APM is how as I mentioned with inside the CMD held with inside the service now platform now a key concepts of application portfolio management is then it's then able to leverage data and information from right the way across the service now platform and across all of the other uh capabilities we provide such as service management operations management Etc and utilize that in terms of providing information to the Enterprise Architects and that's where I want to just focus on now so if we look at how we leverage the wi service down platform we've already talked about those use case about analyzing the portfolio capability planning and Technology portfolio management but what I want to pick up on here is what I've ring at the top here the application indicator framework and this is B basically the secret source of APM because what these this indicator framework allows us to do is Define a series of indicators and we provide a series out of the box but then organizations then Define the ones that they' like to use and what indicators do is measure the performance of your applications on an ongoing basis across different dimensions so for example user satisfaction an automatic assessment around cating information around the user Community about how that application is performing sending information to the business own for them to confirm around business value same thing around functional fit we can also be dynamically pulling information around number of risks number of in incidents Etc so these indicators work on the frequency that you define go out and pull that information back and return a score that means we can then utilize those indicators and the the can utilize those indicators in terms of making decisions so if we look talking about an application rationalization for example I can see my application plotted by business value against functional fit and I can see where I'm in where I need to invest where I need to sustain and importantly where I need to decommission so the indicator is all about providing extra levels of information for the Architects to utilize now if we think about how you can extend that framework across a service down platform we can look at how APM connects to those other disciplines so as I've already mentioned we connect with strategic portfolio management around the the goals targets or with inside a business so we can align our our portfolio our invest our investments decisions to those connecting with the likes of service management and operations management allowed us indicators around vendor information contract information number of incidents we've had in a month number of hours we've spent delivering changes across across an application allowing us to assess the and indicate assess the stability St stability on those applications and also from a risk perspective understanding the number of risks and where they those originating from if we take it from an asset perspective we've talked in terms of the technology lens in terms of how we're pulling forward life cycle data and the version information that feeds into our technology reference model and Technology portfolio management but about pulling through information like software and Hardware cost as an indicator as a feed into our rationalization discussions so it means we can have a whole broad range of indicators that can be fed through to the Architects as they start to perform their future State planning so on here for example we've got cost information now that may may be coming from a third party Financial solution we've got the business value cat technical fit coming from APM number of incidents coming from from uh service Management number Integrations for that application coming from the cmdb contract information software installs coming from software Asset Management as an example all of that wealth of information being collated with inside APM to be fed through for the Architects to perform their future State modling and the final element from an APM standpoint is if you're making the decisions you providing that information you're then going to action those decisions so this is where we then connect with strategic portfolio management to provide an overall vision for for the organization in terms of where we are in delivering on that transformation so relating the activities that that are happening moving from where we are as an AIS STI with 2B STI and whether that activity is being delivered with inside service now or another team tool all of that can come together and we got a single place where we can see where we're delivering on that so to wrap up my my section of the presentation I've sort of talked about that importance of having that solid foundation having all of that information ready to be utilized by the Enterprise architect Nick in his section talked in terms of has we got that information how then the Architects can then utilize those capabilities to start to plan with confidence what they want to do from a future State perspective now this all becomes reality by the introduction of that bir directional information exchange between the two platforms so we can continually pass information between the two Platforms in order to ensure we're then delivering on that road map and we're also making sure that the stakeholders wherever they're situated in the business or with inside the Enterprise architex um area have got the information they need at the right time and it's up toate information so they can make better more informed decisions now what I'd like to do is hand over to hun and Frank who are now going to take us through how they're actually achieving this at Shell today so over to you her yes thank you so much James and also Nick for the introduction uh so let me uh let me take you through because um last year we went through an enormous change and we are still in the middle of a turbulence um and we have a strategy that's called powering progress that is all based on uh making the energy transition work now as you can imagine that is a lot of Change by Design and so you cannot just uh uh jump on energy transition issues by just going into the deep not in the business side of the house uh but also not on the uh uh on the it side of the house so what we wanted to do uh and and and Frank and I tried really to lead that in the last years to enable our Architects to really Excel with the right endtoend tooling so uh let me take you through that uh and if you go to the next slide uh of course I also need to say something about here about the cautionary note so anything we State here is subject to assumptions inent risk uncertainties many of which relate to factors that are Beyond Shell's control and precise estimate so any forward-looking statements here are based on management currency expectations and assumptions so please be aware of that uh so let's quickly move to the next slide and and really go into the into the deep why we do this is important to understand so we do not do architect for the sake of architectures uh uh we do not do uh it for the sake of it but we do it to really accelerate the energy transition and that means that all people in shell and people in our ecosystem and customers need to understand what the future of energy is all about and it's shaping up fast and so we really move from a let's call it traditional Energy company to a really sustainable energy company and so we focus a lot about the energy world that has a sustainable production of energy uh and that that's not only electricity that's also hydrogen it is biofuels there's a lot of new Energy Products that that are needed for that we also focus on which is actually a little bit strange maybe for an energy company to save energy so the less energy is used the better it is for the planet what also needs to be there is that we are need to be able to exchange energy uh which means very simple example if I have solar panels on my roof and Frank is driving his electrical vehicle and he's my neighbor it should be able to sell my own solar to the charging station for the Tesla or Frank and that's currently not enabled so we need to enable that it also means that we need to think about flexibility so it's not so we need to be able to shift between the various energy sources that we have so we will have a very Dynamic Energy Mix and you need to be able to shift that in time and then we focus a lot about sustainable Mobility uh not only about the cars the trucks the ships anything that is moving needs to be sustainable as well now the most important for us is it's all centered around the customer basically us uh and our B2B customers uh and we we need to deler an integrated uh service offering based on that to them and we do that in a system that is we really move to a distributed Energy System so where I live in the middle of the Netherlands is different than in Amsterdam and it's different where James is living uh and we need to enable that uh although it's all energy the local context is important to understand because it's different it also means that we need to optimize that whole Energy System end to end and that shell is not able to do that alone we live in an ecosystem and we really we really want to deliver that as an ecosystem partnership uh with all kinds of products and offerings that help our customers to decarbonize faster if you then go to the next slide and then you will see that that is added by what Nick already mentioned a complete new world although maybe Architects already know about all about digital but the characteristics of this new world is that all the service and offerings we have is much more personalized much more real time everything is in full transparency and it's also needed it's not only by what we as customers want but also what Regulators want to have and it's all hyperconnected so everything talks to each other in a digital Manner and maybe even chat GPT is the overlay of all of this uh of this and we need to take combine those two worlds and that is positioned on on the next slide so if we move to the next side you see that we are highly dependent on the digital Master ship so our strategic priority and that's why we invest a lot in this this whole thing is that we decarbonize our customer Journeys with a optim dynamic and a fair fast expanding asset mix so we're not used to that but so we need to have a connected customer where we all the system operations that we do to optimize all our energy need to be AI driven uh and that relies on all the assets that are smart and are connected to our backend systems for to create these real-time asset operations so we want to bring in their specific context the quality data at the fingertips of each user and we live in a world where we really have open platforms that is in that that are working in an ecosystem now all of that combined when you then see on the next slide is the the energy transition and digitization will create a different energy system that we need to cater for and actually shell wants to be at the Forefront of it if you then look at the right side of this picture you see that it uh uh is very complex be slow bespoke it is homegrown a lot of stuff we do and it has been there growing and growing for 20 30 years if you really want to enable this this new different Energy System we need to simp simplify everything we do it must be much faster that we can do much more scalable that we can do so we really want to do that with by by using Market standards instead of developing everything ourselves and only when we do develop things ourself that needs to be on a very differentiating value and then we do it once and then we replicate which means that we decided several years ago that we really need to build digital foundations AKA data platforms uh and much more in the simplified fashion uh and that that also means that the capabilities and the skill set that we work with is different now in order to all this to do this we this this is called change by Design and that is you cannot only do it for upstream or for Downstream or for the power side of the house you need to do it for the entirety of shell which means that we need an integral steer to ensure that it indeed invol and enables this business strategy to the best now on the next slide you will see uh that this is the motto we actually used when we started the whole journey uh uh four and a half years ago uh with with business on a service now uh on the it side and it also counts for the business side so the greatest danger in times of turbulence is not the turbulence itself it is shell is 100 years old or even older it is if we keep on doing what we're doing we will not nail the energy transition we will not create this digital simple landcape that we actually need hence if we go to the next slide you will see that the Architects will come to the rescue of course that's a little bit preaching for the for to the to the to the already converted but what we chose four years ago is to put this design as the central source for architecture analysis and modeling and this is where a real differenti shate thing is for what many other people's do uh we strongly believe that Architects are not only modeling but actually their main product what they do is they do analysis So based on integral value analysis Tob versus S is take deliberate decisions and do it in an iterative man manner fairly linked to business outcomes to do that we really need to have Architects that have the ability to to to to architectural thinking it's based on toe Gap and go through the cycle of toe Gap fast and fast and Fast to deliver value at speed on a Common Language hence we invested in a single source of Truth where we can cooperate not only internally with Architects and with it but also with business and we also put our compliance checks in it to ensure that we have an overview on what's there based on this single source of Truth and that is the part of what we do so Architects use business design as their basically single source of doing their modeling and Analysis and the results out of that on the next slide you will see how we do that uh and let's see if the next slide pops up because it's not enough to do architecture on the single source of Truth what we strongly believe it is if you really want to capture the business requirements management based on the the the Energy System of the future and you think about the the steps to take to go there which is called the business strategy you can architect it out it's changed by Design but the result of an architecture and the analysis is that you create a portfolio so architecture and portfolio go hand in hand otherwise you still do architecture for the sake of architecture the result of a good architecture is that the portfolio is taking it on and make it step by step make that new that new world true so it's not enough to do only architecture and the single source of Truth you need to create the inside to steer the portfolio of your digital landscape based on this single source of Truth and on the next slide I think uh we let us see where we are because I'm now handing over to my dear friend Frank who is going to tell you how we actually do this and so I told you all about why we do this and why it's important and Frank is going to tell you all about how we are doing this thank you very much Jun yes so I I have the as I said in the introduction I have the pleasure and honor to uh be having both of these major Platforms in in my portfolio as lead architect ID for it so we already talked a little bit about beign and to give you some understanding of the numbers um on a daily basis we have over 1100 active users on Bine Enterprise studio and even more viewers on the horizon portal um and from a service now perspective what I would want to share with you is this is basically what our platform looks like we started our journey with service now back in 2016 when we were uh going to rationalize our operations landscape we had many many applications uh that were all converged into it service management um and one thing led to another uh over the over the last six seven years uh the platform has evolved to what you see here today the prime focus of the platform is the it for it value chain and if you're not familiar with that that's that's a reference architecture supported by the open group uh built upon four strategic pillars strategy to portfolio requirement to deploy request to fulfill and detect to correct now what we're talking about here today is is everything that's happening in the uh pillar of of strategy to portfolio where we have on the one hand side uh in the uh uh architecture as deploy uh the application portfolio management APM uh and uh also part of strategy to portfolio is uh architecture management that's also a capability that we have because at Shell we do uh capability based planning a lot now in uh application portfolio management we take care of a whopping 8 8,000 uh business applications uh with over 20,000 application Services as they are called in uh servers now speak not to be confused with the application services that we model in in B design uh but it's it's it's really uh a big platform next to uh Office 365 this is one of the major platforms with almost 100,000 users within shell and as you can see we cover basically the whole Spectrum uh not only strategic planning but also the operational site and that gives us some very valuable information uh to work with um so if we go to the next slide um that's where and Yun already mentioned it how do we drive change by Design in the Enterprise and as everybody is already meing on on this webcast single source of truth that's very much how we look at the uh the data that we master and govern in the service now platform um and it allows us to do so much more than drawing pretty pictures in in in B design as you see on the on the right hand side um these these archimate modeling that that we do um it makes so much more sense if the boxes that you see the the uh the concepts the archim concepts and the elements that we use in the relationships actually represent meaningful data if we want to do analysis we want to model uh we want to do analysis based on our business capabilities and our applications um and that's why we are importing uh data right now from service now into business sign so that we can actually do that modeling with the business capabilities with business applications and deployments with application interfaces so that what our Architects are modeling is actually representative of what has been designed and that's getting back to the vent diagram that was shown earlier it's um bus design architecture as designed serves now architecture as deployed and it's for me it's kind of like a digital twin um and we are going to follow up uh on this integration uh by once we're ready with further granulating our service now environment with uh business and Technical service offerings that's part of the csdm model and csdm capabilities that allows us to be even more precise and more granular on what um the two domains main for each other we see a lot of Architects um going to deep modeling on what a how a particular application service in archimate is uh constituted but that's exactly where you can have a lot of valuable information and reference information when you're using the technical service offerings from uh from a service now perspective now if we go to the next slide um you'll see some examples of uh how we're using that so uh at at various levels whether it's to to start a program or a a project we're using tools like uh a business model canvas but then in in archimate speak uh we're using the iGo principle which is the uh uh initiative the goal um the sorry the input the goal uh the output and enablers and you can translate that back to archimate elements and when these elements are referring to data in service now it even makes more sense uh we do our strategic road maps in uh in bu design obviously uh but also based on uh on using the right uh application components represented by service now data because quite often um and that that of course also happens with us is that if people can't directly find an application because it's not registered correctly in in APM they'll they'll make up their own application but that's yeah that's that's part of the the quality assessment that we keep doing on it so that we can ensure that what is on these road maps is actually representative of the truth uh also from a business sign perspective um and last but not least we we also have our solution design artifacts where basically all our solution architecture is captured in uh in bus design we've started with that initiative um uh more than a little over a year ago in September last year and since then we've already created more than 1,200 solution architectures in bus design uh also very much based on the on the data that comes out of the of the service now platform to keep us in sync now we go to the next slide it's a slightly more um high level picture of what are we actually doing because in the it for it Spectrum um I basically see two flows of of uh of of processes on the top there's the there's the process of delivering Solutions and and keeping Solutions up to date that's where we go from business strategy through architecture design and Analysis to technical design and implementation and all the way to to operate and that's nicely following the the it for it pillars and with each step we produce a lot of information um and especially in the Middle where there's the Handover between uh the architecture designs that we make and analysis that we can do uh versus the technical designs that are created that's where the plot thickens um because if you look at the bottom flow which is basically from an operational perspective um we see that our operations uh teams um are struggling uh identifying what's going on so when when incidents are reported um we of course we have it service management we do also do it operations management with uh U network discovery with service mapping and we we spend a lot of money H and effort on figuring out where particular incidents are happening so that we can resolve them more quickly than we can today just based on knowing there's something wrong with a application and that's also where the uh the importance of modeling uh with the data is comes into play again because if you want to figure out how things are implemented and so that you can determine where the pro problem is that's where the technical design documentation hand inand with the architecture documentation comes into play to also determine what else is impacted and if you take that a little step further uh with your portfolio management you can also quickly determine who's impacted and how are they impacted so these are some some practical examples of how we are using the combination of service now and B design to drive change by Design and I would also say operation by Design in our organization and with that I give back to you run for our final key takeaways yeah thanks Frank and also showing what we do with it um I think for us the the major learnings here are are and the key enablers for change by Design are are on the screen for us it's extremely important to have an endtoend stack you might say the single source of Truth for Value analysis an analysis is the key delivery for an architect it's not the designs that we that are important you use the designs in all kinds of Fashions to to to collaborate and you need to collaborate not only on the it side you need to do it with your business as well and with your ecosystem Partners so you need to have this tool that is open to all of that and what we also learned is that uh uh we we have such a large landscape that the more you automate to uh uh in that landscape also on the for the architecture side of the house and the portfolio managers the more you automate the quicker you get to insights it's not about having the data ready it is creating these insights based on this value analysis and that's for us the most important thing to have uh uh and that is what we learned are the mo
