Enhance your APM with the Enterprise Architecture Workspace
hey Mark uh we already have 29 folks in the call uh we are three minutes up or should we get started yeah let's get started perfect thank you so welcome everybody um today we're going to talk about Enterprise architecture workspace um you may have caught our um workshop on it last summer things have changed and we want to show you what it's all about uh thank you for joining us today so as we begin um we may we will be discussing road map and and forward-looking statements so we have this safe heart of her notice so that you understand that we intend to do certain features we intend to BR forward but of course we can't make guarantees things happen so um as a part of this series we have all kinds of workshops in planning we are doing them consistently pretty much every single month so if you want to click on this uh little QR code you can get a a link to our schedule sign up uh all kinds of good things the SPM team here is is really trying to give you the information that you need to to use our products so little housekeep in um we've saved time at the end for Q&A um but if you have questions at the bottom of your screen there's a Q&A button click that ask your questions there and I actually have an extended team with me all of my team members from product success are on and they'll help answer the questions while we're going through the presentation and some of them we may um if there's some left over we'll address them in Q&A and like I say at the end we're going to have live Q Q&A um this presentation is recorded we're going to share it on the service now Community takes a couple of days for it to get up there but it will be up there along with the event and if you would we're going to send out a little survey at the end if you would please fill out the survey let us know how we did let us know what you need or how we can do better so we can improve these um we're doing these for you we want to make sure you get the information you need to be able to use these capabilities so my name is Mark Casto I'm a principal product success manager in the Strategic portfolio Management Group uh I specialize in application portfolio management and as you know or you'll find out today the main user interface the the UI part of APM is now Enterprise architecture workspace this is where we're putting all of our visualizations and management capabilities and we want to go through what you can do with it it's extremely configurable we want to understand where you can configure how you can make it your own and all of the value that you can get out of it so after today's Meetup what we're hoping is that you know where are you in your APM Journey that's where you're starting we want to give you an understanding of what workspace will do and then boost your program add you know let's hope that or we believe that the features that we've added will boost your program and I think we got some really good stuff for you so this is the agenda this introduction we're going to go through really an overview of it then we'll talk about configuration um there's several areas of configuration list insights dashboards we'll talk about the road map and then we'll get into Q&A so well for a start here though we wanted to ask a quick question are you using EA workspace yet and we appreciate if you guys would let us know we'll give it a couple of minutes for answers y so far we've got 52 responses let's wait for another 15 more [Music] seconds okay got stuck at 60% so let me end the poll and publish the results then and looks like most are just beginning uh there's um somebody that's using it out of the box and we've got three have done some minor configuration changes uh we appreciate your feedback and it's great to see that we've got a few people using this so on with our show Enterprise architecture workspace why did we build it I mean essentially as a part of the whole user interface upleveling and service now um all of the products and service now are moving to workpace style interfaces um using the next experience and this is apms um there may well be other workspaces of the part of APM because the Enterprise architect is not the only persona but is the EA is the key Persona that we're targeting it may not always be Enterprise architecture also solution architecture it owners all of them are viable this is the the key place as opposed to the old uh APM home that was you know originally in the product so you know the idea is we want a modern user interface here's the old APM home you see here on the left side and um we're just trying to up level what we can do we have a lot more flexibility and capabilities with the new uh user interface capabilities in platform in service now um so you can you see now um if you're seen uh EA workspace before it started off we just had two little icons over here in the left we now have six so we have the home the next one down is dashboard it used to be we had a tab where you would switch between homepage and the dashboards we've split out dashboard the little suitcase looking thing that's business portfolio rationalization that's that new feature I think you're going to really like we also have lists like most of the workspaces in service now and then finally we have configuration those various tables like categories or application families indicators Etc that you configure as a part of APM we allow you to manage them here from EA workspace as well as the traditional forms and lists that you found in service now for years now so one of the key parts of our homepage insights this is a very configurable section we're going to talk about how you configure it later in the presentation but this is where you can Target your persona Target the user users with information insights that they need to act upon based on whatever it is and here we see for example a list of applications with open quarterly certifications you can view the list we see candidate business applications for retirement you can view the list we have a whole variety of insights and again you can configure it for yours these insights can be placed under each of these four categories just General application inventories things business portfolio that's going to be around the business capabilities alignment between the applications and the business and business capabilities information again that's application and information portfolio level alignment and then Tech portfolio this is the new TPM we'll touch on this a little bit we can demo it a little bit when we get in there there have been several workshops this year on TPM hopefully you've caught some uh but we'll take a quick look at it today as well needs action we have a variety of requests tasks certifications uh te TPM audits technical debt out of trm these things can be viewed at under needs attention next down and we're still on the homepage below all of that we have just a general listing and you've got a set of smart filters here that you can use to to get a idea of counts counts any of these can be clicked on it's going to always take you to a list so all of these are active they're not just numbers on a dashboard it's like the traditional dashboards this is effectively a a um UI Builder style dashboard although it's not exactly that but we do use UI Builder dashboard components to buildings these are score widgets so we'll talk about how you can configure and add more if you need um portfolio Health as it says these are Health type insights again very configurable next the dashboard we move the dashboard for more room and you see we now have the ability to add your own dashboard with this little drop down you see next to the name you could have multiple dashboards here a little futur looking uh tidbit is we're going to change this dashboard into a tabed dashboard so we'll we'll divide up because it's actually getting quite big um you see we have a whole variety of widgets here things like business by Tech stack by platform by install type etc etc um here are more that are listed we get off into trm um applications with normalized TPM risk so there's risk technical debt from trm there's risk from TPM and if you've attended some of those Works option though TPM is what's installed and that's your software obsolesence risk technical risk or technical datb out of trm is use of technologies that not on your approved technology standards business capability so this one was a major change and is so much easier to use we've added uh we created a modern UI for business capability you see the old one kind of here off to the side um but we have a nice hierarchy display and we tell you this is It's a capability or it's an application so we're showing the capabilities and applications in one list it's expandable it represents that hierarchy and then for the capabilities and even the application we show the score but for the capabilities we show those classic people process and Technology scores by which you want to evaluate your capabilities on the leand ellipses vertical ellipses you have a menu you can create a subc capability just straight out of the UI you can align a business application you can create a demand so these three are really great timesavers if you've used the old one and worked with it it was pretty horrible you had dozens of clicks and forms you had to go through to do any one of these so we really uplevel of what we can do here you also see we could create a new capability ility at the top level with this button and then update the hierarchy if you are letting service now managing your manage your hierarchy IDs clicking that would update it after you've maybe added or moved a few capabilities so we can easy access it as we said right here on the left side now um clicking on an application or a capability is going to bring up this kind of a summary form summary Insight down at the bottom of that form that little fly out you can click and get the full details and what it'll do is it'll and we'll demonstrate this by the way but it'll bring up in a new tab here in the workspace the fullblown form for whatever it is the application or capability that You' clicked upon um you view the scores here you can edit details of the capabilities Etc the next section and this is this is the big news for for this release about um three or four you days ago we had a new store release and now we have moved the U old bubble chart functionality that was under analyze in APM home it's moved into EA workspace it's far more visible and it's far more usable so you have a bubble chart you also have a list view we have them separate so you switch between them rather than trying to cram it all in the same UI we want to maximize the space that you've got for your analysis um you get to it by clicking the rationalization icon you have a set of smart filters up here so that you can slice and dice your inventory right now the way this screenshot was done I pretty much brought up everything I only have a few uh applications it is limited to 100 applications in the bubble chart so what it's going to do based off of whatever however it pulls it from the database it's going to bring up the first 100 applications you need to use these filters to filter down what we're showing here are based on the APM indicators the scoring and and um values that we're seeing these are all indicator scores so when you filter by fiscal period what you're filtering is the indicators for a certain period so if you wanted to look at um Q2 FY 23 you would set that here in the physical period application category of course that is a general indication technical function of the business application so here's where you could find all of your HR related applications and simply look at them application family that's for application Suites such as service now SPM it's a whole Suite of applications that you find there so you can slice and dice you can one of this is one of the most biggest ass that we've had over the years we have business capability so you can you can filter down this list or divide what you're analyzing by your business capability and then finally with Vancouver we've released plan disposition which is a indication and you see our disposition value sustain invest migrate retire these are some pretty standard throughout the industry means of declaring what is your intention for this business application it's intent it's owned by the business owner and maybe the it owner but more so accountable would be the business owner what is the intent with this application we're going to Su sustain it we're going to invest in it we're going to grow we're going to put money in it we're going to migrate it to the cloud or to another application we're going to retire it so all of these things can be manage not only here you see in the the little uh pop out I can set the plan dis position from this screen I could also create a demand or I could set the life cycle this life cycle data and the plan disposition as I mentioned those are new with Vancouver but it's some powerful stuff for managing your business application inventory the bubble charge we'll see in a moment this little gear will pop we can pop out and we can select what are the X and Y AIS and I call it the z-axis the size of the bubble is determined by a selectable value by an indicator plan disposition one thing very important when you first bring this up everything's going to be gray until you start setting the plan dispositions once you set plan disposition then you'll start to get the colors here's the color palette that at this time is not configurable but um it's something that that might change but for now we're we're showing plan disposition notice that the quadrants they and this is part of your bubble chart configuration they actually show what you know an indication of what should happen based off placement in the in a quadrant so here we want to sustain over here top left or top right we want invest bottom left we want to retire them and so what you might do in an activity is you might go through and set the plann disposition of all of these apps um this is just based off of these indicators and maybe other indicators that would prevent you from doing it but from here you could easily manage it next section in EA workspace is list so like almost all of our workspaces we still have the list view there's a lot of power in list View and we recognize that so we have a variety of list capabilities applications process um technology portfolio management this is where you can see list views uh from TPM technology reference model products this is where you can see uh the the trm products and also the technical deaths they're created as TR RM is used to analyze what you found in TPM um architectural artifacts Etc um you can easily access these tables and you can create your own list click my list and you can create list of things either based off an existing list or if you know the table name simply created it against a particular table then finally we've introduced some of the those common things categories category groups families indicators scoring profiles trm phases and categories um information portfolio data domains those are all setup or foundational data for APM and we've introduced this in the setup section so that you can do all of your work here from EA workspace so how do you activate it how do you get it go out to service now store and request the Enterprise architecture workspace um once it's approved you install the plug in the latest version as of last week is 2.2 and uh here's a note that there is a functionality called the unified map so unified map is repl placing that old relationship form matter and dependency view so the unified map gives us a real nice view and we'll we'll demonstrate it in a moment but um for unified map you have to have cmdb workspace for plugin working so let's talk about configuration what can you configure we've mentioned it a couple of things Insight port portfolio overview portfolio Health all of these sections here except for needs attention but all of these sections where you see the little tiles those can be configured U within APM to show what you need uh to show to your to your users dashboards can be configured you can go in you could add widgets you can create a whole new dashboard and add it as a part of it and then finally the bubble chart you can configure the bubble chart and indicators we're not going to cover indicator configuration today U but that will probably be a future Workshop or meet up from us on how you configure indicators um for those that aren't familiar with it indicators are are the metrics by which we measure the application inventory and the indicators can use almost any data source that you can imagine within the service now platform performance analytics custom scripts to follow whatever chain you need directly from a business application table or capability table um or even a combination of indicators all of these are possible oh and assessments don't forget your subjective evaluation of applications and some cases subjective is as important as objective measures all of those are can be um set up as indicators we measure the the business application by these indicators we score it and that's what we're seeing here in the bubble chart so let's kind of delve into what we can do with these how we really do it so to configure the insights or the portfolio section or port P folio he um in the under all you'll find the APM EA configurations again we're going to go and look at this for real in a moment but you'll find this list of EA configurations each configuration translates into one of those little square tiles that you see on the page you see here where we have the section this is how you tell it where it goes does it go into overview does it go into health or does it go into insid technology portfolio so this defines where it goes in the workspace we Define access so we can manage access groups users so we can actually tailor that output to particular users and groups so if you have particular particular interest or functionality that you want to govern by groups you got the capability to do that what kind of configuration is it we have two types one is a script and we're going to look at how that script is generated what you do with it um next is a visualization and this is what we call uh it's a UI Builder visualization using the analysis workspace um which everybody will have access if you have the the next UI enabled using the analysis workspace you can create um sharable reusable VIs visualizations and those visualizations could be a dnut chart they could be just a number whatever you can configure those and you can and basically reference one of these APM EA workspace homepage widgets can be tied to that visualization so an example of what the scripts do you're outputting if you're familiar with program in programming language a very common data format a a object in JavaScript is is called Json so we're creating a Json object here so here's an example of the output notice that the data that the script is going to return it's going to set the label so an Insight we give it some size how many lines um a count of applications so this would be set dynamically you would have some something like a query that would set this a description you can set the description again that might be dynamic based off of what the Insight determines or you could just uh hardcode it here you have a label for the count you have a button label view list so we noticed you had that view list button on all of them that you could click um the tool tip um again is just going to say view list but you could add more to it if you wanted to and some coloring some highlights navigation if you click the button where do you go what does it show this is showing an example of where you might go and then this there's display text again that can be dynamic so you return that the result is you get this Dynamic Insight Card on the um EA workspace home so for portfolio Health here's another Json example so there is a script if you look in and we'll kind of look at this for real in a moment there's a out of thee boox script include that you can use you could extend U but you don't want to modify them so you know I think we all know this best practice don't modify out of the box you can clone you can extend when it comes to scripting extend where you can um or for these insights is honestly it's easier just to put all of your your JavaScript right here in this so you know the options are really unlimited you could create your own Library if you have multiple uh configurations that you're going to set up so you see here in this example we have access management configured so only members of the Enterprise architect group are going to see this particular widget so that's an example of how you'd use it if it was user specific here would be the list of [Music] users so visualizations as I mentioned these are designed in the platform analytics workspace so you create a sharable visual visualization tied to its data source Etc and then you add that visualization to one of your APM EA configs and it'll show up in this case business applications is shown here there's a saved visualization which is just a score style visualization and we've told the config type is visualization instead of script we tell it where it goes it's in the overview section and the end result is we show 96 business applications here over in the analytics uh workspace you see here's all of the visualizations you see where you select data visualization and here you see the actual configuration of that particular visualization so bubble chart bubble chart's been in APM um almost from the beginning back in 2017 um it used to be or and it still is in the APM home all of that is still working um the word that we're getting now is deprecation is probably going to start next year but that doesn't mean that it's gone it's still going to have a few years it's just it's deprecated we're not going to invest or change it or do anything with it anymore um so it is what it is all of the new things again are going to show up in EA workspace and I think hopefully that makes sense to everybody so we create indicators the out of the box there's probably about 40 different indicators now that if you have Cloud insights turned on or or the cloud analysis uh plugin installed um but there's a whole variety of indicators we also encourage you to build indicators that match how you do work or how you want to measure your application there's a lot of different ways to go at this that's why we've created a flexible framework but out of the box there's a ton of stuff so you set up the indicators you run whatever it is to it might be an assessment so you do your assessments you run the indicator to to generate indicator values from the assessment scoring once you have your indicator you can go into application bubble charts again we'll go look at this um and you create a configuration of wat by what x by Y and Z axis the size of the bubble um and you indicate um what labels you want bottom left bottom right Etc what colors you want so really you're just configuring how that that bubble chart's going to show up and so now let's pause for a second and I'm going to bring up a um a system all right make sure everybody can see give it one more SEC here we go Enterprise architecture workspace so the easy place to navigate to it is right there from the workspaces menu but you can also get to it down here in APM under APM you know once you have it installed again it's a Store install once you've installed it you're going to see workspace home and you're going to see configuration we're coming back to that that's the configurations that we've just looked at so you can launch the workspace from here or you can launch it from this menu item right here and here we see we have our insights application portfolio here's some insights that we have there here are some business portfolio insights information portfolio insights again if I drill into it it pops up a list of things that qualified for that insight and for me most interesting here technology portfolio this one's a little bit different and it's designed with a planning and management Viewpoint here I want to understand where my technology risks are um not just now in the next month but I want to look out 12 months because I want to be able to make my plans for upgrades or whatever uh 12 months out so that I can set things up for next physical year I can get my budgets and all that in order so we can go up to 18 months out and it's going to show us where we have risks these risks are based off of the life cycles that are found so again I encourage you to go and and uh watch the recordings of our technology portfolio Management Facility but this is this is and we'll see some of the data but essentially if I look at it here here's two applications that have a problem so this application I have two Hardware problems this one here I have some software problems and what's the software problem the problem is a life cycle that's going to end May 23 this is already passed right here in the earliest life cycle date just for convenience we show you right up front um what date is causing this thing to be flaged as a risk other information that you we show you is in of support in of extend support end of life some products you're not going to have end of life um we also it's not on here it but this is a list view so we can add more to it um this used for this is from the application service that's involved so see we have the business application we have the application service we have the server that is installed on the hardware model if found of that server and if it's a hardware record that's kind of where it ends we're showing you the hardware live Cycles but if it's a software record or software risk that we found and it's we don't just capture things that are at risk we capture everything so not only does this serve as a list of places where we have software obsolescence it serves as a list of the technologies that are in use by these applications so where software we show you what the product is um we show you the server the system that's on and then here we show you the particular version information so this thing can be exported you it's a list so you can slice and dice and everything you can see the thing is already grouped by the business application but the idea is this lets you make your plans so from here here I might drill into this business application I would then go to the ellipses up here in the top right and I can create a demand which is the beginnings of a project to do upgrades for this particular business application as you can see there's all kinds of information here in this application um I can see cont cont ract information I see the names numbers all of these attributes that you manage plan disposition there's that plan disposition that you would set reasoning behind it if I set migrate I actually have a migration strategy that pops up and I can set that again I specify my reason here's my ownership assessment data based off these are from cloud assessments compliance data and of course work notes and then across here we see we have all kinds of things information object architectural reviews um architectural artifacts digital interfaces digital Integrations trm technical debt that's been identified because of trm here is showing me that um I don't have any products here and it's telling me the software is not defined in trm I'm actually now this is not realistic because these would all be Tech standards in most companies but in my particular system I don't have these configured technology standards in trm so I'm getting flagged with technical debt here um I have GRC risk etc etc so lots of valuable information about the application but most importantly what we were talking about is I can create a demand I can also for this particular system actually I'll pick another system to demonstrate the map with um I go to my applications I pick this application here's our dependency View and it's using that new UniFi that so quite a bit different than the old dependency view um that was used that's used in itom and everywhere else this is the new version of it and you see it's quite powerful so back to our home um we've talked about the homepage let's talk a little bit about the dashboard it's a modern dashboard built under UI UI Builder with the correct permissions I can actually edit in UI Builder I can also create new here this is this is something that last summer we had to go do some UI Builder configuration to be able to do this now it's been updated so that with proper permissions I can add a new dashboard and that my dashboard would show up here my new dashboard easy setup so all I did was created new built my new dashboard maybe you have a a longtime APM practice and you had some dashboard boards that are that you're using you can convert those over to UI Builder dashboards the the modern ones and you can add them here so that you have them available if I switch to a new dashboard I'm going to and this one you can see it hasn't been nobody's done anything with it but it's going to remember that's where I was so now I can go back so not only is this thing going to be tabed you're going to have multiple dashboards you can add your own that's huge business portfolio I'm going to get rid of some of these tabs just to keep it clean this is the new business capabilities View and you see we can expand the hierarchy as deep as it goes have our hierarchy IDs I can maintain those by running update if I'm using the automated job that updates them or if I'm if I'm maintaining myself then you set the proper system property so that you can do that if I click on one of these I get the information level is automatically set and here because we're autogenerating these you see this is grayed out and since it's not a leaf note it's not going to show anything if I want to go to full details of it I can switch over here to full details bit back over here on the capability um capabilities that at the leaf level like this one see it's a leaf not this is where we do people process and Technology assessment that rolls up the chain to the top level capabilities underneath these where you have an application you see I get the application score um also get other common dat like business unit Etc if I click on it I see the application I can always go to full details right here notice how quick and easy it is to get to the information that's one of the keys about this thing is so that from wherever you are in context you can jump and drill in and then you can go back and you can look some more you can do things this is going to enable capability based planning if one of these capabil like here Governor manage product Service delivery uh or development program it's it's yellow it's struggling a little bit I want to do something about it so I'm going to look at maybe what can I do with procure it maybe I put a demand in there to uplevel the capabilities of this particular application it gives you a quick easy way to do capability based planning you also see that we have summary scores up here number of capabilities how many Leaf nodes are there how many have been assessed and not assessed out of the leaf noes 90th and C3 NSS how many have a major Gap medium Gap no Gap so I can quickly jump to places where I have a gap where I got a problem I can deal with them it's all about being able to quickly investigate and manage again if I want to do a a new uh subc capability that was pretty difficult you had to go mess around a bunch of forms and stuff here I can do it right here right now and there we go and then I want to associate an app to it a line of business app I just have to go pick it compared to the way you had to do this in the past it's incredibly easy so next again our favorite feature for this presentation um rationalization so you gathered your inventory you've started measuring your inventory you're running TPM to understand technology risk so you have all of these these facilities working together to measure your inventory and manage that inventory so that you can make good strategic decisions now you need to do something with it you notice that you know most of these are colored the reason they're colored as I mentioned they've already had their plan disposition set if uh I change plan disposition here it's going to change color and so this one's on to migrate I don't think I'll migrate I think I'll retire it so I update it it now turns red or a kind of Fusia and and shows that we're going to retire this so one of the activities here is you might create a demand and go ahead and start the process or you might just set the plan disposition and the thought the process behind this um from our product team is you use this to evaluate your your inventory again I can I can subdivide it by category application family capability this is pretty powerful so I can subdivide by [Music] capability or I can subdivide by plan disposition what I if I was doing this by say category and I'm just going to do HR so here I've got my human capable Capital um applications I can see where they line up and based off of the information I have remember I can go change my X to Y right now I have customer set functional fit but you know maybe I want to look at it from a regulatory score versus business value and I picked a good one because it didn't have any information let's see if I have uh traditional risk and business value there I get a little bit you can see how I can configure this and also you can see completeness of your indicators is really important for this thing to work and give you the power notice that the uh these almost disappear they're so small because I pick business value for my bubble size if I go change that to something else like uh let's see let's just I'll do none just so they show up all the same size but the the activity the process here I see how these things stack rank Now by business value technical risk I can go in here and I can set my plan disposition this gives me a nice tool as owner of this portfolio of applications I can go specify the plan dispositions if I want to see a little more detail or I just want to work in a list I can pop over here and look at it at the list level what these are is the indicator scores so you see you have the application and you also see that that we're again what we're showing is all the scores so a little um preview of road map one of the things that we plan on doing here we have the scores but also we plan on adding um the actual value so it's nice to know the scoring that's the apples the apples comparison but also sometimes you're going to want to know the exact score so we're going to ex extend this and add the actual values the raw values so that's rationalization we'll look at configuration just a moment list views these are pretty simple straightforward everybody is hopefully very uh familiar and comfortable with list views my list I can create a new list if I need to add a new list I click on it I can start from one that exists or I can create a new um let's see oh yeah I have to give it a name so T no just keep it simple and it's going to be a little bit slow we won't waste any more time on that you get the idea I create my new list those are personal lists by the way it's not shared with others this these are only like it says my list those are only for me to use um So currently we don't have capability of sharing those next and finally we have the setup list these are the same things that we're going to find under Administration in the old APM module administrators module and rather than wait for that we'll keep moving on let's get back to configuration that looks like we have stalled out on so um there there it is here are configurations we're getting short on time and I do want to have all some time for questions so I'm just going to drill into one of these scripts hopefully you've gotten an [Music] idea you see this has a a script that is used using a uh script include basically a library so that is one way you could build it you wouldn't want to modify this particular script include uh as that's an out of box but you could certainly create your own library to support what you're doing with these these particular scripts what they return is that Json that tells what needs to be set and where we have order control that controls how it's going to line up in the list going back to our list here's a visualization again a saved visualization where you create these if you look you will find platform analytics workspace data visualizations um you shared created all the things you might expect and you see there's already you know 250 of them out of the box probably more I don't have everything installed on this system but you would create one of your visualizations once you've created the visualization back over here in configuration you would create a new configuration you'd say the type is visualization obviously give it a name you tell us where you want it to go maybe in health and nope I Health we see only does script there we go that's behav so I can pick the save visualization for most list over there so You' want to use a good name so you can easily find it then if you want to manage access you can manage access a by groups and by users it doesn't support system rows at the moment um if you did a script you could incorporate a system role and you might have it show nothing um if it's and the way insights will work if there's nothing to show if it's zero um they may they will be hidden you can configure them to be hidden in your script next um we want to go to we talked about indicators so again here's all of the outter boox indicators assessments query condition groups other in other indicators summed in and and average together or group together performance analytics and then finally custom script a lot of power in fact most of our indicators are done with custom script so we have our indicators the next thing we do is we create a bubble chart configuration so we create a new one we give it a name so top left label we bottom right label top right level might be um sustain we can quadrant the quadrant label colors and then the X and Y AIS indicators so functional fit regulatory implications here we might pick um technology life cycle risk versus business value and our indicator um cost are something that's coming back in this demo system you do see that we have cost so we might put application TCO in there so and we specify our [Music] colors and we submit it when we go back to workpace and I always when I'm working with these things I like to go to my link here because this will pop it up in a new tab and here I can do my two here's my new one little size I'm going to pick inst count and we don't have much information here but you see a little bit so that's our configuration uh final configuration I wanted to touch upon again we talked about um the dashboards dashboards can be edited in UI Builder I can add a new dashboard from right here and to be honest the proper place to go manage your dashboards and and build them would be to go to platform analytics workspace you see data visualization so you would create your visualizations first you create your dashboard you would go Enterprise architecture dashboard you go build it out here and then add it add it back over there so that's our demo let's talk a little bit about red m so next big things that are coming um and our goal is to have this for the February store release remember that EA workspace is a store application we're going to release updates to it uh four times a year in in February in May in August and in November and so one of the big things is coming is the ability to import and set up application TCO and it's not just total cost of ownership it's also cost Towers like software cost Hardware cost all of those are added up to be your total cost of ownership but we're we're building a facility um it is not going to be like the old Financial modeling where we actually take took general ledger lines there are Partners out there that can help you with that um one of our most recommended ones would be proven Optics there's others but what we're doing is from whatever Source you have you will be able to set up your Towers your your financial cost types if you will um some call them buckets we some call tm4 we call them Towers so you set up your financial Towers you enter your data on a whatever periodic basis it would be maybe by physical quarter uh physical year whatever makes sense according to your processes you upload the data to the particular towers and we sum it up and you have TCO so we're going to have reporting for it it'll be incorporated into uh the business applications incorporated into those analytics that we've been looking at so this is going to be a big enabler for rationalization EA workspace uh here's just a summarization TCO rationalization we just released TPM and trm Gant VI so for those who been around APM for a while trm and TPM had a nice colored lines Gant chart Style view for life cycles um with the new TPM and now trm also out there as well we don't have any good visualization right now um that's coming next year second half of 24 is what we're expecting so it would look so these are some mock UPS this is what it's liable to look like is is a nice grid view showing you um that same kind of breakdown business application the app Services the associated software products and and the uh vendor life cycles if you're in TPM or the usage life cycles if you're in trm and that's it for our presentation what we want to do is transition into Q&A and shaan or team if anybody has live questions um shout them out please yep we to have uh few of them I see raw Rob is typing but I think one of them is something uh L wants to know and it's a big one Mark so not sure if you can pop up the Q&A on your screen it's a big one to read out or maybe L if you want to come out of mute and actually I'm reading it I'm I'm reading the question here so so when will that so one of the things that came out in this release so we did not add we have not added the life cycle stage life cycle step as uh smart filters yet um we're talking what we really want is an extensible and this is way out in the road map we have no dates for this even but what we want is that those filters to be configurable you we would like it for you to be able to add your own filters the way you want it so if you want life cycle status life cycle stage you can add it what we did do in this release is applications that are markers retired do not show up in the list so that's what's come out now so when you upgrade you should be able to um you should you should see the number reduced so you shouldn't see your retired applications now what is it looking at it's going to be looking at life cycle stage life cycle status for retired so um next question can you recommend a user to impersonate in PDI that has data available in the Insight section all right so that that's actually a really great question in order to get insights to show up and we'll go back to it you actually have to go take some action you got to have some things for it to generate insights on um so look at these uh open certifications uh open uh demand certification Etc candidate for retirement in order to get these all working you're going to have to go out and run some of these just so that you can play with it if nothing else run the certification schedules you notice that there's a couple of on demand ones run these um go into desired State and run the audits those sort of things that will get you some insights back over in the EA workspace these insights will start to show up technology portfolio um you got to have the proper data set up and again there's a whole um we did a whole workshop on how that's set up but um you should be able there's a job that you run to get this to show up so it's not necessarily A Persona you could uh if you're emulating somebody out of the box data if I'm going to impersonate I usually uh impersonate able so good old able tutor that'll give you you know the prop the insights so it's not really a particular person it's you need to have the dating your system in the PDI for it to show and let's see architectural artifacts that are part of the EA workspace so this these are architectural artifacts are actually part of um just APM in general uh you do see them as a part of the application here but they're also exposed in the regular forms so if I go into one of these architectural artifacts um most companies many companies are our customers they have certain artifacts and documentation that they need together and you want to have a nice way of associating with that business application the application represents it's a model representation of the application what about all these architecture documents diagrams plans Etc that are generated in other systems or whatever architectural artifacts rather than just using the old traditional attachments which had no context to what the attachment was this gives you a context of what it is so if I look at this architecture application architecture I can categorize it so I can very explicitly tell you exactly what kind of artifact this is this allows me to do workflows if you have particular workflows for upgrades or for planning or whatever it is um your EA board might have certain workflows and you require certain documentation you can capture that documentation here in the architectural artifacts so the artifacts so you have a shell called the architectural artifact you give it a name you specify what kind of art fact it is that allows you to specifically classify it then you create a version of it it can indeed be an attachment or it could be a URL to Something in another system so it's pretty powerful it is based off of the document Management Facility that's part of the platform but it's specialized for APM it shows up in business applications digital interface faces digital Integrations and business capabilities Mar can I add one thing there sure so there's also an integration with Lucid charts that will automatically generate architectural artifacts uh well you have to choose that for it to do that but yes correct yes if you if you go into your business application or your capability you can use that integration to create either a CI relationship app from the from the business application or just a hierarchy of your of your business capabilities that can then be uh you can generate an architectural artifact it will automatically attach to that to that external record in Lucid charts yeah so you can create a new artifact um if you did it here I'm doing it in general but if I do it from the business application and by let me go back to uh let me go back to the workspace that's by by the way that artifact type is going to be a URL because it's pointing to a chart a diagram that generates over in Lucid chart and thanks for that Rob so if we go to business application and we go back to details right over here you see create diagram this is where I create a diagram that's associated to this I can tell it what I want to see in the diagram um I can say I want to create Associated to a new artifact or an existing one so it lets me pick it um if I create a new artifact it's going to put it in underneath this and it saves it as a particular URL so uh Lewis is asking uh will there be performance issue when we have tens of thousands of software Technologies to be approved improved and you know how how are we going to manage it yes so if you go back to this level and this list has thousands in it there will have to be filters but you have you have filters here that you can apply U but there will probably need to be an easier way to filter and slice and dice this so next question uh that LS has after scoring profiles in indicators are configured and surveys are executed scoring the profile scores are generated what jobs have to be run to to show the bubbles in the bubble chart so you have to actually generate the um the indicators and so if you go to this is one where guided setup is always your friend in APM still uh we're moving away from it we're going to see more of this up in the uh oh it's not going to let me see it because [Music] I'm not iners the right guy now I go back to it there's a there you need to run the indicator jobs is is the short answer to your question was is you've generated the assessments they taken the assessments incidents and all that stuff has happened once the scores the indicator scores and the profile scores are in place then it should be ready to go and so you see load application indicators and compute application scores that's the job that needs to be run once those are generated then the bubble chart should be ready to and so the uh csm5 will track repositories uh Rob do you have thoughts on that yeah I was hoping you would know that answer so Justin yeah could you uh either type in the add a question or come off mute and tell us I think he was just asking whether we're GNA we're going to support repositories in the future and whether it's part of csdm 5 so not that I know of um by repositories I assume you mean like artifact repositories well yeah so um I think I saw at at knowledge they had the csdf 5 you guys had all the work items and today inside of agile you can't have repositories as part of those like tables but it would be nice to have that as a repository object to track to see whether you know things like SE Ops we having scanning there's just a whole bunch of inventory stuff so I didn't know with the new work items coming if that's going to be part of that like system I've not heard anything on that um that's something that we want to we we can push that question back up to uh the CSD M guys and see what's coming I do know like repositories for like code repositories is something that are part of it's part of devops yes so if you have devops that those tables get added but that's more to support like change velocity and things yeah so work items in SPM um I mean service now is the repository for work items that are in SPM I mean you know where do you keep your stories where's your your you know story repository now code repository um I haven't seen anything on it but um it may well be that they are going to introduce something again that's that's something we'll need to ask about it is not part of APM Goa yeah I I think probably the easiest use case and I'll stop here is just just like we can attach digital interfaces to the EA workspace and then have those on the relationship map wouldn't it be nice to show where the repository to the code you know gets pushed and pulled from yeah I and to be honest I've seen several customers at least two or three that I can remember that added a um repository list and they just you know they created their own attribute and they call out where's the repository in the csdm model that really belongs on the product model not the business application um now if you did it as a CI and you Associated it that would be a very uh low impact uh configuration versus um versus adding a new attribute so that's possibility but again I've not seen anything on it we'll we'll I think shaan took a note and we'll see what we can find out for you um and Joshua do we answer your question all right other questions please oh feel free to raise your hand instead of typing and yeah uh you can come out of mute and talk nice please go ahead so my question which was the digital Integrations in the interfaces and um service now so if the digital integration represents the different you know systems and applications working together seamlessly so for example data sharing workflow automation Communications between various tools and the interfaces are really represented the user interface itself the UI the graphical user interface that allows users to interact right in you know like go to a site actually the user the digital interface represents the API the integration represents the subscription to or the use of that API so you could have say you have a business application that's data Lake and it's got 500 different individual apis you would document those apis as digital integr digital interfaces the systems the business applications that consume the various apis would create a digital integration representing that I'm consuming that API and using the information objects underneath here here's the information that I'm going to pull from it um and and whatever other kind of details there are like frequency is it is it scheduled or is it event driven Etc what is the middleware that you use to implement it so interface is the API integration is the consumption of that API so it's okay two-piece thing there's also uh if you're interested in this we've just released um in September a whole new set of CI types CI classes for apis so in APM digital interface digital integration give you the design view you can do the ownership you can document what kind of authorization authentication it has what kind of of format it uses and protocols um is it rest and is his what's it exchanging as rest always exchanging Json okay and then the integration is going to say that you know application a B and C are using it each one would have its own integration down below and by below I mean down in the orange part of csdm operational side of it you're going to have a cmdb CI API representing that digital interface and if there's components of it you would have cmdb C API components you also have API gateways you can really go to town so to speak in modeling out how that integration is really built or that interface and how it's consumed that allows you to be extremely explicit and represent the real world at the operational level while also you have a nice summary design level management of it at the digital integration digital interface level up in in design domain coming in I think this spring we're hoping for this spring those digital interfaces will have relationships to the cmdb C API and component levels it also should have uh relationships to the sdlc component as well so in that model you have a digital interface it's built by a sdlc component that represents the configuration and it's represented operationally in the cmdb CI API and other such elements that model out how that integration really works so we're headed towards in fact we're almost there for this really robust model for API management okay yeah so that makes sense because you know the digital integration as I described yeah yeah it it basically can be done through apis or you know middleware which I think is a fi form too or other Technologies to assure the data you know but that your aner really clarified it for me that if we look at all our apis and lifts our apis in the digital interfaces section and is that that's what you're saying and then the integration is the pipe between two applications you know the subscriber and the provider and it is using one or one of those interfaces you got it you got and you might have a overall interface and then you have specializations so children of that interface again it's a super flexible model um and I think your question calls out a really good topic for a future workshop and meet up like this yes thank you appreciate the answer mark yeah thanks thanks for the question also have rohen yeah all right um so my question primarily is related to um you know having uh overall uh how to say picture of uh you know like a service graph where as of now we are just looking at the component of Enterprise Architects which are dealing with application portfolio right so if I just present one example here where for example we have just different vendors we a company has bought these different applications from and they own boed them which are running on vendor slas but let's say if uh it within a company has different slas agreed with a business um how do we differentiate between vendor slas as for the application and business service slas which are basically by giving to the business so those vendor applications have a business application representation but they also will have a business service and offering representation offerings is where you put your slas so even though it's a third-party vendor like you guys are licensing service now service Nows third party at SAS yeah you got some stuff in the data center if have mid servers or whatever but mostly it's SAS uh you got some Integrations going on but there is a business service and it's whole set of offerings that would fall under that business service representing the delivery of value the delivery of service from this system that you've you've created so where do you see that all together best is take a look at digital portfolio management that's where we're bringing together the service graph View and it's very much built around the concepts of service graph if you look at individual entities you can see the plan build run info uh you see insights uh metrics like incidents you see activities um it's it's where we really have have brought out APM tying it together with the operations and the services world so you can see it all together right um and then just from your you know expert andian standpoint the activity of let's say offboarding a business service which I believe will trickle down underline everything like multiple task for multiple teams um let's say if we have five different render applications and two local applications built by the company ending up into a one business service or five business services which at the start of the year they identify to be offboard so the trickle down effect of you know offloading the business services and the underline applications and closing up the contracts and infrastructure and everything um the again it comes down to my lens of overall service crafts right whether IFI can reflect that within the whole platform and the full picture that this service has now been off-bed yes so you would start with a demand it would be tied to that top level service that you're offboarding the process for offboarding is something you would probably want to put a little design into so it reflects your processes but the service graph that's you can find by looking I mean there's there's multiple places to see it part of it now this this map is showing the business application view of things but just same map would work for a service so I could see that interconnectivity the service graph is represented right here we see this people soft service RMS service that's actually a a uh application service but if we had a service out there that's associated to one of these application Services then we could see that dependency in the graph so you could follow instead of from the business app application using unified map You' be able to see the lines or there's there's other that's really what excuse me that's what digital portfolio management is all about letting you have that visibility of what that service is what its offerings are what the offerings depend upon um you know csdm is the key that's your service graph so starting from the service you have a pathway a service consists of offerings the offerings they're all going to be offboarding so following the dependency lines the relationships from those service offerings to the appropriate application Services says that this application is either going to be retired or at least removed from service for that particular service you would build your plans from there but it all starts with a demand and a demand points to the
