[Music] hey everyone it's Justin thank you for watching and welcome to my house in this video I want to talk to you about an idea that I got from a YouTube video comment it was actually from Joan pilot aut and they asked me about how they can make hyperlinks in the navigation menu so if you know service now's navigation menu at the very top there's the ability to create your own menus and add things to it and at first I actually made a video about this it's a longer comment response video at first I was like nope I don't think you can do that um it looks to just be menu items only and then I went oh wait I just need to make a menu item and then I can add that to my menu so let's check it out we'll go here to my menu and see I have a link here for Bing and I click on that and it opens a new tab this could be a link to something in your environment like an internet in his example or their example or it could be anything you know to external website and you just want to provide people with the link to get there so the way you do this is you have to go into um the application menus definition or system definition for application menus and you need to create a menu that you're not going to actually use right so I think I did mine has the word demo in it we'll search yeah demo for YouTube and what I did is I added a module to Bings you can see it right there on the bottom it's a URL from arguments that points to Bing now the tricky thing is that I figured out while I was recording the previous video is that I needed to open it in a separate tab in order for it to work so here I've got the arguments going to dubdub dub. bing.com and then the window name I needed that to beore blank and set this title to Bing and I was in business and all I did after that is I went into to my menu maintenance to go do that so let's go to um now if you do that se have your application menu mine was demo for YouTube and you can like set a roll to say nobody can see this um and then I added an or added a module for that you're seeing here for Bing and then if you go into unified navigation menus we'll just search for it here unified navigation menus I had one for my menu right here which I can edit and for some strange reason has an order of 100,000 but in my menu I can then have another item in the menu and this time I chose a menu model now let's move to Justin's house application so that we can um so I can show you this so when you're building these menu items to show up here right there my menu you can select whether you're going to do link to an application or a module cuz that's where we were just were creating that if you choose module then you pick the Bing module then it shows up in the menu right here where I can click on Bing and open it in a new tab that's it it's really simple and thank you for that question on YouTube cuz it sent me down a path where I figured something out that I didn't know I didn't know um if you found this video helpful please like Please Subscribe or share it with somebody who you think might be interested in putting links to external things to service now in the top menu and until next time don't forget to always be learning
