[Music] hey everyone it's Justin thank you for watching and welcome to my house in this video I have some more new Vancouver features for you and these have to do with building and maintaining your service catalog that's your catalog items your record producers and there's been a couple of tweaks two of which I want to show you in this video number one um you're going to see this in the documentation site where it says create topics or taxonomy this has to do with employee Center or Employee Service Center in catalog Builder to enable discovery of catalog items on employee Center well you can't create them but you can select them so I'm still going to show you that but this is incorrect you can't create them you can just configure and you can select different topics and the next thing that I'll show in this video is that you can easily get to the old way that we used to configure catalog items or record producers in servicenow from catalog Builder which is nice for those of us that are kind of trying to embrace the new but still may need to know something that's not been brought over future wise to the new one so let's jump in to catalog Builder now this is catalog Builder if you haven't seen it before welcome to catalog Builder I'm actually going to open up my servicenow store sync catalog item this is what I use to generate my Friday episodes of servicenow store highlights and I'm going to edit this catalog item to show you what's new so if you go to the location tab that's here on the left hand side location on your catalog item or record producer there is a new section here for topics this is the taxonomy or topics that those release notes we're referring to if you click on browse it opens up a new window and you can pick that taxonomy that you'd like to use and then you can pick the available topics it legal risk and compliance I have like nothing installed in my PDI except legal I installed the other day so you can C employee Center has like nothing in it if I go to browse all of it I think I just got a knowledge base or a request to knowledge base right okay so let's go ahead and add this to it now we see the selected topics is it and that's it we're going to save the selection and that should go ahead and update that and I'm just going to save my catalog item and that should be done there and then um the last thing to show you before I review and submit here and go ahead and finish everything I hope there's no approval attached to this I just thought about that if you look at the upper right hand corner just above my head there there's an ellipsis the dot dot dot if you click the dot dot dot it will take you or give the option to discard what you're doing or edit in the advanced View and this is where I was talking about it would take you back to the old way we used to do things and edit it in the advanced view now I think uh yeah it's actually going to let me edit it so I could come in here and do my assigned topics which is just behind my head there and do the same thing that I was just doing in catalog Builder and notice here too I don't have the ability to create topics as well I just have the ability to add existing topics so I'm not at all surprised that the capability wasn't there I was just surprised to see the release notes say you could do something that you can't but anyways let's go back to catalog Builder uh where I'm lost oh it took me out of my catalog item isn't that interesting um but it saved it here so I think we're good to go um because I see my new topic here for that so let's go to employee Center cross our fingers hit the refresh button and see if we see my catalog on an adult um it makes me think I need to so I got kicked out of the actual catalog item I was working on it says draft now so I'm going to edit the catalog item and I'm going to review and submit let's check the location again yeah I still got it review and submit interesting that I couldn't do that from here I can update it but that's it and I think it's because I've got it in draft mode in catalog Builder it's not gonna let me do anything here um so that's probably good you don't want too many places to do things so we're going to review and submit I'm going to submit and see if we can get that out of draft mode your item has been submitted return to my dashboard thank you and it is still checked out um shoot let's go here and reload the form record not found so close that and I bet you were okay let's just refresh this now there it is there's my servicenow store sync showing up on employee Center in the it topic and now I can go request my service now store sync which I actually don't even do anymore it happens automatically uh for me so I don't have to but those are the two new features so one you saw me hop over to the now platform from catalog Builder so just be aware as you saw with me there's some funniness there with it being in draft mode and what you can do in the platform and then two the ability to select a topic for employee Center not create a topic or taxonomy like you see there on the screen I hope you found this video helpful if you did please like
