foreign [Music] you're with and your current role I'm Adam Mason I'm at Glide fast and I'm the VP of strategy the vpf strategy tell me a little bit about what that means and what you do day to day so day to day right now I'm really focused on our RFP and proposal process but in the larger picture I'm trying to help us get to our really big number that we're going after in the next five years glypaths has some ambitious goals for sure I'm curious about how do you start to conceptualize and create a road map from getting from point A to point B what is your process if you have one so we have to start with point B we have to figure out what we're supposed to be let's say in five years from now and then we have to work our way back on what do we look like at five years well what do we look like at four years what do we look like at three years and we just kind of walk our way back until we get to the present and then we make sure that the way that we're going gets us to where we thought we were going to be in five years I love what you're saying when I was a school teacher we talked about backwards design the name didn't really stick because it sounded kind of weird and then it later changed to reverse engineering thinking about well where do we want to get the students to land and then kind of work back to get there tell me about the type of skill set that you need to have for the role that you're in uh you you have to be very open to different thinking and to think about things that we don't do today that we could possibly do tomorrow and then we also have to think a lot about what we're doing today that's really good and how we can make it even better yeah and how do you analyze assess maybe things that you're not doing so well how does that work into the picture well you definitely have to be aware of those things that are issues or things that aren't as good as they are and then you have to make a determining factor of is that something we need to invest a lot of time in getting better at to correct it because it's being a detriment or is it something that we really just need to kind of keep moving on from and get better around it instead as I'm listening to you talk I'm hearing in the the background some ITIL framework about failing quickly getting up and going you know failing quickly and moving on is that some of how you're thinking about this is that your approach or maybe this is something that I'm misreading so I would sure you could say that but I'm more focused on what are our strengths of the company instead of what are our weaknesses and so if we can amplify those strengths then I think that we move faster because we're doing really well in a certain area it makes everything better we're bringing in the revenue everybody has jobs to do work right so I think that's the way we have to look at it right on now I'm curious about I know you didn't wake up becoming our ads vice president of strategy tell me a little bit about your servicenow journey at Glide fast so I've only been a Glide fast for about a year now but I've been in the servicenow ecosystem for about 12 years and I was a customer first and then Mike and I actually got started together at another partner and we did servicenow work together for a couple of years before he spun off and went to start Glide fast but I've been in the partner space for going on 10 years now okay question Adam Mason what is your superpower not getting too frustrated and you heard it here I'm Kylie Alexander we're in the midst of Glide Fest 2023 season and knowledge 23 season I actually lied Adam who's gonna win and make it to the NBA finals the Lakers Laker Nation let's go oh
