I think you know the best part perfect thank you thank you so much for uh recording it out and you know this is one of the good part that I've seen of you know a post over situations you know covet has been tough for all of us but one thing that we have all learned is getting connected virtually and you know uh this Meetup meetups like this you know really shows us like you know offline meetups we are in a stringent with you know the amount of count that we have and all the budgets but this and all admit up Saturday morning in India and across the world I think it's amazing to see so much of people still joining I think in the 350a stations that we already have almost and we hope that you know people are joining at that much count but anyways I think you know good morning everyone and you know thank you first of all thank you for joining us and we have exciting agenda today we have exciting people I think you all are seeing many of them already on camera right now we are super excited for this Meetup we are going to be having lots of discussions lots of networking lots of connections that are going to be made and uh really looking forward to it and to start it let me introduce myself this is I have almost 11 years of experience in this I.T World almost 10 years into service now have been hosting the small emitter for almost five years right now and you know just excited with all this new content we have new like you know content this time and just to keep you all you know aware we have couple of surveys at the end you know please stay tuned please fill it up because there are some goodies that are going to be shared or buy service now exclusively but just for answering the service so don't miss them at the last okay and again I think it's almost four minutes into round so anubhav I will let you drive the first session that we have it's all there anything and Sarah is the course that we have and you know just a meanwhile thing it's just a request if possible you know I will request everyone to be on mute and maybe just to switch off your camera in case you're not speaking just because it says the bandwidth for all of us you know with the camera so thank you so much and please go ahead yes uh so let me introduce myself so I'm also uh host of this Pune Dev Meetup so I am also hosting for past two plus years I am also a recently Rising Star community so you can find me very active on community uh so let me start with the first session so uh like uh first session will be taken by Sarah so uh when I mince the reason I reached out to Sarah is like we are using service no Community for long but there are so many things uh people are still not aware of or maybe uh needs more details uh so uh that's the reason like we are having Sarah here who is uh running the service now Community who will be able to spread that awareness or something new coming up uh so Sarah let me know like do you want me to take it one by one uh topic or should I just call out all those points and then you want to start yeah so I actually have a deck that I'd like to share and I have prepared uh some responses to the questions that you provided okay okay then uh Sarah you can now uh start so that you you can cover yeah thank you sorry okay cool thank you awesome is everybody seeing my screen okay yes one years old okay cool uh so I'm sad to see that we just have 48 members online I saw that we're anticipating somewhere around over 200 so uh for those of you who will be listening to the recording I'm sorry that I couldn't see you in person but we do have a post on the community live right now where you can go ahead and add your comments uh for any questions or feedback that you have today so that will be shared later by pranav but I'll go ahead and get started so I'm really excited to be here with all of you today um I do have the mic for about 30 minutes and I am here in Maryland USA so it is close to midnight and it's also a Friday but I'm so happy to be here with all of you as many of you know um a lot of you are currently in your Saturday morning so I'm going to try to be as energetic as possible uh but uh just know that this is a little bit late for me so uh I may not be as energetic as you normally see me but a few things I'd like to share so as you uh already know I'm from Maryland and we're known for the Old Bay seasoning and blue crabs because we're right by the bay the Chesapeake Bay so I love OB seasoning I love seafood and uh I love to basically spice up my meals with uh Old Bay Seasoning as much as I can even when it doesn't call for it uh also too um I started as a servicenow customer back in 2017 uh with the company that I was interning with and then I officially joined servicenow back in 2020 at the start of the pen endemic and here I am in 2023 I am Community program manager specifically for our rising star and MVP programs a couple of fun facts about myself I do love people uh that's kind of why I'm in this role today it really does bring joy to my heart to be able to hear from people from across the globe to learn about what it is that motivates you to keep going in your daily lives in your career within your families and your your friend networks so uh yeah I would say that I'm definitely in my dream job I do love concerts any kind of music um anything with like theater I love live shows and I also do appreciate the outdoors so I will go ahead and move us along um so one thing that I wanted to ask you all today um is by a show of hands how many of you have visited the community before and I know we don't have everyone online yet but just for those that are here how many of you have actually visited the community you can raise your virtual hands nice I see we're approaching 10 so that's cool 11. that's awesome so I'm glad to see that you all can put your hands down now and how many of our rising stars are MVPs former MVPs how many of you all are here today by sure virtual hands let's give it up for our experts wonderful I'm so happy to see you all here today so um if you all don't know this is actually my first developer Meetup um but I am super excited to be here and I'm so glad to see uh so many familiar faces as well as new faces and names you can go ahead and put your hands down wonderful and so regardless of where you are in your servicenow journey today I put this deck together mainly this slide here because I wanted you all to know that just like I love people the team that I'm working with they also greatly love people and they really come together with the common goal of ensuring that every individual has a wonderful opportunity to feel a sense of belonging to know that they can grow and to also take charge of their Journey with us so that's the team that I work with and you may have seen a lot of these faces here uh and it's because we are out in the community uh virtually in person doing great things making sure that you all feel heard um and we really do appreciate everything that you all are working towards in your personal lives and in your careers uh and so the team couldn't all be here a lot of them are on vacation um and you know they're doing different things it's a weekend but I'm here today and hopefully I can be a good representative for the entirety of our community team so with that I will go ahead and move on to basically what our main discussion will be about so um mainly when it comes to the servicenow community of course I saw that a lot of you raised your hand saying that you have visited the community before uh and visiting the community is different from logging in right so the community is vibrant it's welcoming and we bring together people from all over the globe so that they can become more than what they were yesterday what does that mean that means that we're able to uh help you all to get resources to be involved in the right activities and to network so that you can grow uh also too I get asked who is the community for do I have to be an expert do I have to know all about what servicenow offers to jumpstart into the community the answer is no you don't have to be an expert to join the community we currently have over 500 1000 members from around the globe and that means at any point of the day there's excitement for you you can log on you can sign up and when you do just make sure you're ready to collaborate and learn so again collaborating and learning is the key thing here that you'll hear me say a lot uh because we're bringing together so many different minds and people from all different backgrounds who are passionate about servicenow just like you so you don't have to be a master of everything or anything you just have to be motivated with the purpose of wanting to grow and wanting to learn and when someone says to me I don't know what to do in the community what they're actually asking is how do I navigate the resources available to me on the community for example we have our servicenow user groups which we call snugs so you'll see here the screenshot there servicenow user groups if you don't know already they're geographically focused and they help you to connect with the world of servicenow by letting you find others in your local area so this could be a place that you just happen to be traveling in for the week and you want to meet with some servicenow people or in your hometown and you want to kidnap with others in your backyard who also happen to know and love service now or maybe it's a place that you've never visited and you're just curious like what is servicenow like where you live so the servicenow user group program is a great opportunity for you to get involved with you can also discuss uh different Trends observations challenge is Solutions these are all things that you can talk about when you're amongst people who are also in your local area and of course all these things are free with the community you don't have to pay anything you just log on and you sign up using your servicenow ID and we use SSO so once you sign in you're able to navigate to all the offerings that the community provides um and you'll be recognized with that same unique profile so that is something wonderful about the servicenow user group and also too as you see there you can meet in person or online so there's anyone here online with a servicenow user group or is this something totally you've never got interested in before okay pranav wonderful colleague great awesome yeah so again there are over 160 snugs so um that's represented across the globe and you can simply just Join one um and you get to see all the different things that are being discussed um and I highly recommend that especially if you're like in transition in your life and you're moving to a new town uh or you know you realize that all your friends are somewhere all at once and you really just want to get connected then I highly recommend that you start using uh the servicenow user group because it'll really connect you and people have said that they've made lifelong friends so definitely recommend that and then also too as we're talking about the resources available to you and how to navigate that we also have our Rising Star program so what exactly does it mean to be a rising star so a rising star is someone who is passionate about their servicenow expertise they may not be complete experts in their field they may not be long time um users of service now however with the amount of time that they have been able to be exposed to servicenow they really do take the time to continue learning and growing and sharing that out with others um you literally can join the community for like a month and maybe participating like let's say three times a week and it doesn't have to be every week but any sort of contributions that you're making on the community whether you're asking questions uh or answering questions or following events listening to podcasts anything like that that is showing that you're actually interested in servicenow and what the community is offering then you're on your way to being a rising star and so basically any of you here today whether you're currently live or you're listening to the recording you can be a rising star uh we really put this uh recognition out there because we noticed that there were people who uh you know showing that they really care about servicenow and they care about the community they care about learning more uh they acknowledge their challenges um but you know they still were not in that top contributor rank we still wanted to show you know hey we're seeing your efforts we want you to keep going we want you to keep growing we want you to keep doing what you're doing and therefore we created the rising star program so that has been uh active since 2020 too so you can certainly join our Rising Star program we have availability coming up uh this July for you to join if you're not in it already so you saw a few Rising Stars raised their hands today but if you would like to be a rising star or you know someone who um is showing what I described before which is basically being active in the community being active in their networks then um giving back to others and of course they can um qualify to be a rising star there is no one pathway of what it takes to be a rising star uh is simply your motivation to want to keep growing keep learning and that's what makes your horizons start so feel free to go ahead and nominate yourself or someone else if you feel as though they would make a great Rising Star so uh that will all that information will be available uh starting in July so in a few days because the nomination window will be opening then um and some of the benefits of being a rising star it's a great resume booster you know the Nate it's in the name right a rising star uh so you don't have to brag about yourself because the name brag is for you uh and also too against you uh credibility within the community uh because you see that badge there on the right this badge here uh it gets displayed um in your community profile uh when you're logging um different replies or answers or questions or anything really uh you'll see that uh badge there and the name rising star and we currently have a 120 Rising Stars so and we're looking looking for that number to grow after the end of July so that's a whole new network of people for you to get connected with who are also passionate about uh learning and growing within their servicenow Journey so uh wonderful and moving on so a lot of times people also ask okay what can I do within the community like what activities are really there so Community has grown a lot from the tumble Beginnings starting in 2015. so as I mentioned before we have over 500 000 members and to accommodate everyone uh we know that everybody has a different way of learning everybody has different interests uh there's so many uh different platforms out there not like related to Tech but just living in the social world where people are finding new hobbies and talents and just really deep diving into the world of learning um and so one of the things that we have done here at servicenow is provided a space for podcasts so podcast gives you an opportunity to learn directly through just listening right you can be cleaning in your house you can be in your backyard if you have Wi-Fi uh you can be on a morning run and you can listen to experts break down exactly step by step what needs to be done or what worked for them or just simple advice as a related service now in their Journeys and that is something incredibly valuable uh and our podcasts continue to grow uh so you can see here the screenshot right there there's an opportunity for you to uh learn more and again in that blog post which purnov will share a link to uh it also includes a link to getting access to those podcasts and also interesting enough uh Chuck tomasi who you saw earlier who's also on the team that I'm working with um he has compiled a great playlist of beginner friendly uh developer podcast that you can listen to uh which I find really helpful and a lot of others have found it really helpful so highly recommend uh even if you like I said before you're not really sure where you are in your servicenow journey you don't know if you're an expert you don't know exactly you don't really know what you don't know right but when you when you try new things when you see all that's being offered in the community it gives you the motivation and the courage to try something new and to believe in yourself and Chuck he absolutely loves people and I mean he has grown to who he is today from the fact that he loves to help others and so that playlist um on within that podcast series that he has it was really helpful and I highly recommend uh that you visit it and I provided a link to that in that blog post which for novel share here so yeah definitely recommend besides podcasts we have of events of course we also have blogs we have articles and both of these blogs and articles are basically areas in the community where you can hear directly from uh serious not employees customers Partners basically anyone who feels as though they thought leader meaning that they are generating ideas they're confident in the things that they're saying and they've really practiced and presented themselves well to be able to go ahead and cut out uh thoughts on paper uh to be on community in an audience of over 500 000 just so that you all can benefit and see the different Journeys that they have gone through that they've experienced and what's working for them and uh you know extract those different pieces and be able to take it back within your own network so highly recommend that you check out blogs and articles and events podcasts of course as I've said uh but moving on so we also have our MVP program so MVPs currently make up the top one percent of those contributing uh on the servicenow community and this has been the case for many many years um and the interesting thing about the servicenow MVP program is that if you talk to any MVP they will tell you that there is no one specific cookie cutter journey to becoming an MVP a lot of times like even at these large events like knowledge we get questions like oh you know how do I become a VP um I'm an MVP right it's not necessarily a title that you give yourself it's more so what the community TV has given you right MVPs most value professionals are very humble in the things that they do throughout the community and also within their networks and our community uh most value professionals including the ones that are you know not in the program today but they will count as MVP Alum all of them are very humble and they're very focused on helping others uh what's interesting between rising star and MVP is that most value professionals they tend to have been in the industry for a very long time and they have built themselves up to have a following of people like yourselves who trust in their advice who have seen them start from humble beginnings and have grown to be as big as they are a lot of you who have been with servicenow for at least five six years you know that Chuck tomasi actually started out as a service now MVP as well and he has grown to be a master of many things uh but for our most value professionals basically these are top contributors so where anyone can be a rising star with our MVP program you really have to sit back and think about like all the things that you are contributing to not only within the community but also in like your personal life as well so LinkedIn uh how are you contributing to the servicenow ecosystem on LinkedIn um how are you talking about service now how are others talking about you uh these are all things that we consider when someone is nominated to be it and BP and also too if you think about it when you become a top contributor helping others is like a daily routine so uh it's on top of your day job and it's something that you're volunteering to do uh there is no singular Journey or recipe to being a most value professional uh but if you do what you're passionate about and you enjoy yourself while you're doing it you will certainly have the opportunity to be an MVP whether it's for a year two years three years five years uh to Infinity um it really depends on your knowing yourself and being passionate because once you get that title of MVP it doesn't stop there right it keeps going so um you have to have the mindset of a growth mindset uh not necessarily a destination mindset right where okay I got the MVP title that's it you know you cross your arms you're done people are this is the time where people are going to be coming to you even more right because you have that uh title and people are looking to you for your expertise so uh it takes generosity uh it takes humility it takes patience it takes flexibility uh I could go on with the different qualities but honestly if you really want to be an MVP you know and you want us to make sure that we have eyes on you certainly apply because we look through every nomination submission um and even if you don't make MVP re we do recommend you for our other programs as well so uh if you're doing something you will get recognized uh and also too with our MVPs I highly recommend that you are able to um find as many opportunities to to meet with them I know that a lot of our MVPs are mentors many of them also attend some of these meetups uh and so if you can be in a crowd and uh have the privilege of being in their presence then highly recommend like you know just ask questions they're really open to sharing you know the challenges that they've gone through uh what they've done what's worked for them how they have balanced being a MVP or top contributor and also on top of their family responsibilities their day jobs and other things that you know life brings us so uh certainly a very esteemed program and we really do appreciate everything that our MVPs continue to do whether they are in VP Alum or MVPs today and to apply to be an MVP the nominations do open in December so the upcoming nomination for that will be December uh of 2023 and that will put you in the 2024 class and for Rising Stars just again uh the nomination window for 2023 uh will be July of this year and then we also have a another nomination window in December for you to join Rising Star 2024 so that is also a wonderful opportunity for you in both programs you do get swag and so we want to thank you for that now uh the last thing I want to mention and I'm not seeing the time on my uh thing oh I'm a little bit old for my 30 minutes I guess I'm so excited uh but uh pranav is it okay if I just mention rise up and then we can move forward I think you know that we'll be having very you know informative session please go ahead and at least okay great okay awesome okay great so also Tierra I just wanted to rise up so this was one of the questions that was brought forward uh to me uh so basically rise up is a new initiative and the mission is to bring people together um and also to allow them to uh start a specific Journey we understand that you could be transitioning meaning that you're coming from a new career or perhaps you just graduated uh you know the servicenow ecosystem is comprised of a variety of people right you have people who've been in the industry for years people are who are just now joining um regardless of where you are in your journey we we do understand that it takes guidance to really get you to where you need to be right it's really difficult to do it all on your own and we know that everybody has you know again their personal responsibilities and you all can add your questions there uh but yeah I'm so happy that I was able to uh be here with you all it's so amazing just to see the wonderful names faces uh from across the globe and I really like that you all are meeting one another like this because really networking and connecting with others is really the start of a great uh servicenow experience uh and being able to exchange knowledge and experience is wonderful so uh so glad that you all are meeting up like this and so sad that I that I can't join all of these uh because you know every person that comes to these has a unique uh story and background and so just really happy that I was able to uh talk to you all today it's a great feeling to see all these people joining down from across and all the backgrounds all the knowledge capabilities and you know expertise that they have coming down in one place and sharing their knowledge and you know just I think I have a couple of queries that is over here I think you know mandar has asked like you know is there a way that we can share this details or recordings about the meetups on the community like is there any way that you know because in Pune there's a big influence that we see of the meetups that we do so is there a way that we can share you know recordings or details uh regarding this meetups in the community to answer this question like going forward we I'm planning to upload all these Meetup recording to our official developer channel so that it reaches out to a bigger audience that's why I started the recording and also like in future we are also trying to bring the developer program to the community so we'll be having a separate space for each particular group that's there so that you can post your videos also your feedback or photos and everything that you do for the meetups and that is coming up very shortly we are planning to revamp the website for developers program and merge into community so you want to add on it or it's there yeah I I would totally agree with pranav on that and also too um if you're interested in just sharing the Meetup link for today um you could also do so in uh the comment section uh in the blog post that I created today for this Meetup uh which I'm just going to put the link right here in the chat so uh go ahead and try your questions there uh and I also see that we have a question from garav who's been patient so thanks karov uh in the chat about developer MVP and Community programs uh being combined so that is something that is in uh discussion uh is not uh anything official just yet uh but we do recognize a lot of the feedback from people saying that um you know it can be confusing to have two top contributor programs right like how can we say that there's a group of one percent uh that is contributing phenomenal uh work and contributions uh but then have another one right so I was like okay well is that two percent or you know then it gets a little bit interesting so uh we are uh having that discussion as stands today because we do recognize what a lot of you are saying which is you know if it's servicenow then there should be only one servicenow top contributor program right and there's lots of benefits that come with combining the programs um and so certainly that is something nice in discussion uh but uh yeah so that's the answer to your question uh but today as it stands there is not a One Singular uh MVP program there's the developer and there's also community so very good question thank you so much how can we contribute to Rise Up program very much interested in it thank you Amit uh so admit is also one of our MVPs uh so definitely uh go ahead and visit that uh rise up uh Forum link there uh we currently started our rise up event series So based basically there's people from all over who have signed up to learn more about rise up and they're learning about it through an event so we have Selena zamor on my team as well as um I believe it's Chris I'm now learning team who are working together along with rose from rise up they all are hosting events and we also have guest speakers some of them Rising Stars some of them MVPs who are basically doing like a deep dive into rise up and how now learning is supporting that initiative so certainly MVPs have opportunity to be guest speakers at these rise up events which have just launched this week uh and also to of course as it relates to the questions that people who are interested in rise up and we're starting their servicing on a journey or um you know wanting to help others in their Journey definitely that is the space the rise up form for you to visit so uh certainly and I can put a link to that in the chat uh if that will be helpful um but yeah I would like to add on for what Sarah you said about Riser so rise up is our pledge to train 10 million like 1 million people by 2024. so the how you folks can help is like if you see people who are new to service now or who wants to learn service now you can share them the rise up link in this there is a training content that's available which you you can utilize and uh like they can learn the basic Administration and development of the servicenow platform and they can go ahead and do the CSA exam and we already finished a campaign in India like I think two months back Sarah and I we were working with fellow Indian developers and I think Shaquille was there he's here right now so probably for the chat up show like that will happen after this you can ask him question how was his experience and shakeel if you have some pictures that uh like that we shared with you go ahead and share it with everyone and show them how it is we are so proud of our Riser people like there are six people in India who were there one is Shaquille is there and uh like there are other five people so really proud of them so if you want to contribute go ahead and share it with the people who wants to be part of service now and be among this passionate group of people yeah that's that's what I wanted to add back to you Sarah wonderful so thank you again uh if there are no more questions uh again it has been really nice and I'm glad I made it to an hour with you all [Music] um it's a very odd time for you and you've took your time out to share your like all this information with us it means really a lot for us and we're really thankful and you know we're really happy that this is the first Meetup that you're joining and you know hopefully we have some good timings later on and so that you can join us in future meetups also thank you so much and thank you pranab for sharing all those insights also I know of any final comments from you uh no thank you only Sarah for uh accepting this proposal and for uh means extending your time also we know it's you have taken two days I would say to come to it 23rd and 24th both for you so thank you only uh Sarah and pranav for this thank you so much Sarah and thank you pranab again yes and I I think you know Sarah shared the link also on the community like you know feel free to post comments there any suggestions or anything as Prana has also shared I think a couple of you know link posts that are there feel free to go through them you know it's it's just not a one Meetup that we communicate through it's always in you know always a thorough channel that we have maintained that in a service now is maintained that we can communicate with each other and you know keep ourselves updated and informed of this session and thank you again Sarah you know hopefully you join us again in future meetups and thank you for all the knowledge that you shared today okay sounds good I think you know one of the valid points that you know pranav suggested was you know the way that you know he has also grown I think I remember like you know for enough and joining us for as well like you know presenter uh like in a few years back and we have seen how he has grown and I think you know the journey is all about that you know growing you know and today we are starting something new what is this so this is something kind of a talk show and chat show we where you know we are gonna be having one another topic that can help the Meetup group or the community to grow learn and you know not a like in a knowledge sharing session but moreover informal casual talk from which every one of us can benefit into so we're thinking what should be the first topic to start with I think why not start with those people who have given the Kickstart to the service now I think you know we already heard our shakil's name we know Kali a lot like you know we have been sharing and you're hearing a lot of her contents we have khushboo today so I think you know we thought that lots and lots of people are joining service now there are rise up in our programs coming up you know there are many people in the like the market who are really looking forward that you know how can they grow how can they learn service now so we thought that you know we have veterans you know we have veterans like Manda we have veterans like Prana we have veterans like Amit over here like and many more like I can see many over here that who are very veterans but you know these people had their experiences whatever people who are learning Fresh Market what are their thought processes how are they approaching service now you know that's just something that we can even we as then experienced people in service now can learn from them and people who are thinking about learning service now you know that that can also benefit them a lot okay so I think you know we have our three guests you know Kali Shakil and kushboo today I think are you all through there or yes indeed I am definitely here first they take I'd be good to see you be here good to be seen perfect thank you and before I jump on I will request that you know there is a small survey that we are going to be sharing at the last please stay till the last you know we have some goodies that has to be shared out from service not based on the service that you're in response so someone randomly will be chosen from those server responses and equities will be shared with you so please stay there and fill up the service it means a lot to us to have those feedbacks coming back okay so let's start Kali you know 100 days of service now we have all been hearing it out we have been seeing a podcast from those you know knowledge you know are already a phenomenal Journey that you have seen and you know we have also been in a part of it you know you you always been sharing knowledge doing this podcast with us you know it doesn't mean a learning session from you it has been sharing session for me throughout what did motivate you like what thought process thought brought you into service now like you know why service now how did you begin how's the journey going on and you know how do you see in like a virgin in past and coming future that is coming up absolutely well so John I want to thank you so much for inviting me to this I have been excited for the past few weeks when since you invited me I'm like oh my God I'm gonna get a chance to connect with people all the way in Pune India so this has been exciting just the lead up to this so thank you so much and all of you thank you so much for having me I don't take it lightly um this time last year I never heard of servicenow so June of 2022 never ever heard of servicenow I'm a single mom of three children my youngest is uh just graduated from high school just a few weeks ago I knew at the when they when I got all of them through school that I wanted to Career transition I was a classroom teacher for several years and then I eventually became a yoga teacher for several years and I led International yoga retreats to beautiful places throughout the world but I knew that I really wanted to have a professional career once I was able to get my children through school my sister was servicenow platform owner and at that time they were going through an implementation and she said hey I know that you're looking to Career pivot I have an idea there's this thing called servicenow knowing how your brain works I think this will be a good fit for you and so when I learned about I went to now learn learning and I dived in I took as many courses through now learning as I could I would study every morning from 3 A.M to 5 a.m when it was really quiet I called it my genius hour so like I feel like I'm a genius before the sun comes up so and then as I saw every day at that time Monday through Friday I would take a break on Saturday and Sunday but then I would also spend time in the afternoon on Saturday and study Sun Saturday and Sunday studying so I continue learning and continue learning but I wasn't in any type of boot camp I wasn't any type of cohort or next-gen program so I said well how can I learn this so I found a syllabus and I matched my own learning as closely as I could to that syllabus the only thing that I could not replicate was the potential to get in front of potential employers so I said well we're employers ah employers around learning are on are on LinkedIn so I started going through my learning and said well maybe I can document my learning because I knew that I needed to get a job quickly because the job that I had was the company was beginning to close so I said okay well I have we have all these people going through these next-gen programs how do I get ahead of the pack right and so I knew that I had the support of my sister at the support of my partner and so I said well I know I'm comfortable being on camera I love talking to people I'll just leverage video in order to make myself visible on LinkedIn so I was listening to CJ and the Duke podcast they were talking about different things that you could build so I said to myself well I bet if I can't get a job after a hundred days of producing content of what I can do and the type of fit I could be for an organization then I know this isn't for me but I bet you I can find a job within within that time so I just started documenting my learning through what I called 100 day of service now and I use that hashtag to this day so so I started creating content and the very first video people started giving me some type of acknowledgment saying hey good job good seeing you nice meeting you by the seventh day of service now I had gotten my first job offer from Glide fast consulting which is where I'm at today and I continue going continue continue continue until even today I uh now interview people on 100 days of service now and I hope to interview some of you all to learn more about your stories and what you're doing and how you're making an impact on the ecosystem so that's how that's how it all started it first was about me documenting what I knew how to do and then after I got my job after day seven I said well what I can do now is open up my platform to other people so I started this thing called live speed coaching and what I did I created a Google form and I said hey if you're looking for a job and service now fill out this form and I would love for you to come on and I'll pair you with someone who is more seasoned in the ecosystem and you guys can talk live on LinkedIn and maybe you think you you can get some coaching and perhaps expose yourself to potential employers so I did that for several episodes and then I started wanting to interview people I wanted to learn about their Journeys and then eventually I started doing something just recently about a week ago called show me your app so these are for people who were also new to the ecosystem still hadn't gotten a job but they wanted to show what they had built on service now and I was like okay well I have this platform let me invite you to come on so you can share with potential employers what you're able to do what you're able to offer to potential to a potential employer so so that's why I'm using my platform so it's not just about me that what started with me but it's now also about creating more Community bringing more people in whether they're brand new people or whether they're seasoned veterans in the platform so I hope that answers your question definitely Kali I think you know Amazing Story to be very honest and I am motivated with it that you know within seven days if you could you know land of a job with you know right first I think you know that will motivate many people over here whoever is listing this thing live right now even in the recording I think an amazing of a journey you know you said about like you know certain like you know training modules or something you know how do you thought about that you know which one to Target and what to learn like you know because you know service knowledge is like an ocean of knowledge like the main is models and things so how do you thought and what to start with like what was the thought process behind it yeah well initially I just wanted to be a really great system admin and what I mean by when I say that is that I wanted to get an overall understanding of the functionality of the base system what it could do what are some what are the main differences between like a client script and a business rule a UI action UI policy really understand the power and function of lists how to use filters really knowing some of that base understanding right because my feeling was when you can understand that really well then understanding some of the other things comes a bit more easy right so once I got my job with glide fast now if you remember I was had experience as a teacher I taught trigonometry I taught fourth grade I taught what we call Primary School here in the US I don't know if it's called differently um in in India and then I also had you know had three children of my own so I was brought on to Glide fast as a technical trainer which actually really worked well for me because it allowed me to firm the knowledge that I was already building but then learn it really really well so that I can then teach it to other people within the organization at that point that's when things got really interesting for me and the reason why I laugh is because Mike Lombardo I don't know if you all know him he's a CEO at Glide fast he was like Kali you are really good talking you love to talk to people I bet you you could sell anything and so that's how I got into the sales side of of service now so it was a quick transition where I was starting to go in and starting to learn hrsd itsm and then my CEO saw something in me and then it was also quite honestly a more lucrative path for me as well which was important to me because I have children still though they're young adults I still want to be able to support them and provide a good lifestyle for them keeping in mind that I've been a single mom for so many years that I was really living a very meager lifestyle and I wanted something that would be a little bit more comfortable and then also to be able to provide a bit of a nest day for myself later on and so I made that transition a couple months ago into the sales side of of uh of service now to answer your question in terms of what to focus on what someone told me and this is what the the rule that I follow is focus on something that you're interested in so I started talking to all the people in the organization of the various pods like the hrsd item item all CSM Telecom and then I was like okay I think I like hrsd but I also need to have a foundation in itsm so that's kind of how I chose what paths that I would study further perfect I think you answered very correctly like you know it's about two things choosing what you interest on and choosing your superpowers like you have a superpower of you know amazing talking and you know presenting and you know teaching of the world showing the world that how it has to be there and you mix it perfectly with service now I think this is what you know we should all should be learning from you is that you know everybody has that power in them it's just about identifying along with your interest and driving it I think Kai that's really really helpful of sharing you in case you do have any links that you found in a useful and you know you know beneficial do share with us I think that will be beneficial for us and I think for intercept I'll just keep you hold while in a connect with other guests and I'll get back to you with the rapid pattern that we have scheduled thank you yes thank you for having me are you there hello hello how are you I'm good thank you how are you doing great doing good and really feeling good and really honored that you joined us and I share your knowledge and your time with us it's really means a lot and I think you know another success story that we all see like you know I will speak less over here I'll let you speak let your journey you know driven through your voice you know how has been so far like why service now I know you have been you know being an intern starting from fresh why servicenow how did you learn service now and what motivated it and how you're seeing your journey like going forward you know thanks so first of all I want to say thank you so much for giving such an amazing opportunity to introduce myself in front of amazing techies so thank you so much hello everyone uh good morning uh how it's going so my name is currently I'm working as an associate software engineer at hexaway Technologies uh I have completed one year uh in service now domain and it's my total experience also um earlier I did an internship in various domains like quality assurance engineer uh engineer and perhaps developer associate during my bachelors and now I started my journey as a service now developer uh in hexaway Technologies so uh the learning part which I followed is like the career Journey which is present in the normal Army I started from there like uh as Carly mentioned like uh whatever topic which you felt interested start from there like I started from developer Camp uh anyone wants uh like admin implementer there's a very systematic path uh which I saw in the learning so it helps me to get the systematic path and uh like it also helped me to get full flesh knowledge of the platform and the entire features so uh I did first and I tried to replicate uh simultaneously in the PDI also and it if I face any difficulty in any terms then I go to the product documentation and I also followed the micro certification which play a very important role in a learning because it is not about the certification it's about the learning the particular feature so I followed this and if I face any difficulty in learning the terms or maybe any technical challenge then I followed uh YouTube tutorials and also the Articles and blogs in the community it helps me to get the full-fledged knowledge of the non-learning platform then I started with the share project iweekly uh explored two shared projects which is a in a share site of the knowledge so it helps me to know about the custom uh thing which we can develop on the top of out of the box so uh I saw the people are posting their projects in very simple manner in the like small UI action or maybe some interesting widget I found very interesting stuff there in sharesight uh it helps me to learn uh the customization which which is really possible a very small use cases which helps me to automate uh the things and I also adapted this in my projects uh in my work and it will also help anyone in the future with their project so follow this the share project and on monthly basis I targeted one store application which is out of the box present in the nor learning platform so like any application like uh service Bridge anything whatever you like I just gave an example or any platform feature like a UI Builder uh workspace which are not the part of your uh project or maybe client requirement just because you are curious to learn more and more so I followed this on a monthly basis and uh I gave 45 minutes daily in the community only the purpose of a contribution so it helped me to get deep type in my skill set and to the second thing uh I learned from there like it is uh builds my uh debugging skills getting strong and also the different type of use cases which people are using and also keeps me updated with the new features which are upcoming features because I registered with various upcoming events which uh excites me more so uh in community there is a lot of things which we can learn and it really helps me a lot and I I built a huge Network in the LinkedIn so Network play a very important role in the uh LinkedIn I built uh various uh connect with the people with the service not developer know about what they are doing and also the what is the market requirement apart from the organization and the network plays a very important role so this type of things which I followed and for any technical challenge we have high support we have YouTube tutorials Community WhatsApp application so these things I followed consistently from the last six months it helped me a lot so I think these things it helped me so anyone can follow the spot what properly planned you know sequence this is why you have been so successful and so less than amazing like you know pointed or all single things that can be done and I think in a that I really found really interesting that you know you are going down in the store and seeing the applications from there that is amazing and the concept of learning new things and even the lawn molding like you know the from the ages that were you have been using now learning has increased and grown a lot I think it has been very helpful for all of us you know learning in every aspect that has been the good part of service now I think you know uh not only service does an organization but also the entire community that has been sharing knowledge through and through for all of us and that this has been growing because the people have been sharing and I think in a prime example of you know how sharing and you know has helped to grow each other I think in a fantastic issue and of course we do share I think you were talking of some you know Links of share light also I think you know feel free to share them and drop those links if you have handy and you know I think you know Kali also in the correctly you know pointed out that you know hey this is the LinkedIn LinkedIn plays a major part nowadays and we get to see all those you know amazing YouTube channels that we we have the amazing blogs that people write we are really thankful for all of them any other comments that you feel that you know that this community or people like who are like you know planning to join service require Human Service now you know any Finance additions for them like you know how can they grow further so uh like the the most exciting thing which I liked about the service noise we can automate anything any business workflow and also it's a curated experience we it allows to create curated experience with its local feature and also uh we can uh innovate anything at light to speed so this excites me more so I think uh I followed this path uh and I think anybody can follow this path and it will really help uh we'll get back to you again for the rapid fire and I will jump on to our next guest thank you so much Mr Shakil Sheikh would you like to rise up yes I want it like everyone to participate in like the program I think you know it's really great to talk to you to be very honest you know I I have been following your success story very closely you know that it has been amazing you know just been amazing you know again what what has you know prompted you like you know and you know you know getting a service or something you know else what you know the way that you have grown in service now what has been a thought process like you know uh what motivates you like what where do you go when you think about learning at something like you know what has been the thinking what has been thinking that you see in future for yourself hello hi everyone uh I'm Shakila I'm from Hyderabad and currently I'm working with uh currently I'm working with this service and I have around like two years of experience and service medical system and I have been like awarded with a rising star community and also a service model for MVP when I graduated when when I was in third year of my 2010 I spent a lot of time with my family and I thought I need to get I need to do an internship and have a multiple paths have like first I have two possible one is multimedia and otherwise like like I think and like after a lot of discussions with my brother and my family have like my brother suggestion like he has his friend like who is his developer unless few next coming which is going to start and like study slow training and I was like yeah I was like okay okay I will like I don't want to hurt my Credence and so I decided like to go to the program and let's make what is service now before that I don't know about services and I and I joined in a friend for like two to three months and then I'm very like interested to to build something in it and after like few months a few months after this to this sort of training uh it is going on like I need to build a project for my final year okay so then I decide like why can't I use servicenow and I build a portal foreign the great response from my professors and I decided okay the statistical committee given like I I successfully completed completed my project and now I need to look for internship and I started searching but I got an internship from cloud action which is like based in Pune and like I'm very happy that I'm playing as guess and after the completion of internship I gotten full-time offer from in more space and like before this happened before my even even graduated I felt like yes everything is possible if if you know like a traditional platform or we just need to know how to use the platform I like this and after after joining in my face I was like okay it's going like it's going properly I'm learning I am learning on its module Meetup and a place for uh okay uh when a place for mentorship mentorship program I I my mentor is my mentor and he recently guided me like I'm little bit uh I'm like little bit worried like in front of camera this is my first uh as a guest uh he's you told me like he will keep it simple and you can do anything and it has been like has been like what model should work I said like yeah just I do I don't run any modules this because this one is fresh since full time as a as this financial developer programs uh I'm like you only you told me like just learn the basics like Basics is important like any module if you're taking um this is important just like server scripts and like clients paid service which these are these are the basics of the any module and you can learn the modules in like Wheels if you know the like basis and yeah this is uh I came here and then I spent like I spent on some uh a participator on Community First I learned like before answering question I I started so I think like is there already a question is already there okay is there like how how they how many people I have how they helped with this question and I reviewing the question there are many articles articles blogs like I'm big fan of like prenup Bugatti also he has also my uh one of my mentals and and yeah I'm following these people like they have like they are like perfect roadmaps like uh fellow is now so previously the customer to service law and there is like a developer Advocate just like crazy like how how he included his career that works with him even more because like it's not like in one year like two years yes we need to focus on the basics and definitely need to know need to need to learn how to use your platform and I feel like it's uh sometimes I feel like it's a service noise like don't come under it because just we need to drag something if you use floridism this we need to drag and drop so many like out of the box this will I can select just we need to learn how to use the platform and yeah yeah but you know I I think you know you have been very lucky that you have got very good mentors like you know ishan in front of like you know definitely I know them also and you know they have been always been helpful and you know sharing with each of us you know and definitely very inspiring story and uh like you know how you know how Riser has helped you like you know if you like to focus that a bit like you know how being a part of rise up and there's a big you know already we heard about things how is that helping you to grow like you know can you just you know yeah yeah rise up is like it's overall like freshers like whoever joined just joined the service or just learning the service now or who are searching like searching for job then some people don't know about service no and their link that's actually we need to we need to learn something that gets like quick quick job opportunity that provides job opportunities just like Instagram like in less than 10 days yeah he started learning the service line less than this in in this journey in transition he got opportunities from glide first like that the rise up will increase the opportunities first is for freshers who want to learn the new modules or who want to excel Excel their skills and other like another categories like who who don't know anything about anything about service now and they if they involve well first few it's just a few weeks just if the Giants Rise Up program they can learn the platform because they are like medium orders they are providing medium orders like ideas and they are free for like rise of programs numbers and yeah they will if if you join they will really get interested in services like because I said like it's like multiple multimedia platform just like we use Photoshop uh Ms word just like just you need to use like how how efficiency we are how efficiently we are using the platform and like traditional like taking the great initiative like they are like in one two two years they are like Millions like there are millions plus people they want to train them uh yeah if anyone joined that one they can see the whole path like what is there like what is next month what we are getting like you know I think this initiatives have been phenomenal from service now like and this has really helped many of us to grow I think you know I I mean one point that you know I really found is that you know we're talking when you were like in a third year of you know in in engineering degree I guess you started learning service now that is also Knack that I have been seeing a lot you know where you know like you know people who are still studying or in the diploma courses or like an Integrity courses are already getting the service now and you know this is across India that I've seen a culture and I think you know as a senior as a mentee is like you know mentors like you know I think you know feel free to motivate such students also in future if you know someone who has that potential to a growing service or feel free then teach them out and it's just about in a growing that Community is just helping and you know sharing with each other that will eventually return back like as I always say like you know sharing is just not making others grow you're making yourself I think an amazing story I think Shaquille you know I still remember your poster knowledge 23 like and I did not attain but I still remember that pig that was there and that that speaks your success story and and this is the thing like you know we have three amazing guests you three have your own like you know plans and you had your own way of getting in a successful but you know amazing amazing like you know and I hope like all of our participants and whoever is you know listening this in future you know meetups uh recording like and I hope you get inspired and get learned and it and we have limited time and I just have four minutes I know to you know continue here feel free to connect with them on LinkedIn I think you know they will always be available to help you out you know to connect and guide you it's not about the people who are new to service now even people like me like you know I I have a little bit more than happy to correct and ask them like hey hey I don't know this kind of help me out so feel free to connect with them follow them on LinkedIn and then adjust our Channel sharing with each other so okay so I have the final line of four minutes with me and I know I have been overshot and I think Kali is you know I think it's over time for her also it's quite late for her and thank you Kali again for being so late but just last in a round of rapid fire that I've kept it you know I'm trying to be a good dinner talk show host so just you know just learning experience for me also so all right you're doing great thank you because you are you there and we will go with the rapid fire and uh just a round of question for each of you so still feel free if you don't wish to answer it out but yeah just a thing okay favorite module for you in service now Kali say that again which is a favorite module in service now my favorite module is definitely itsm that's the foundation perfect I hate first one only itsm okay yeah I will go for the ideas I'm sorry I missed it yeah it is um perfect the basics always win perfect okay so who's the person that you look up to in the community like who inspires you most in the community name a person like that you feel well if you could begin it out I mean there's several I mean I know Rob fedoric CJ Wesley and Chuck tomasi oh perfect oh Mark Chuck if you wish to name one yes you should perfect okay oh you know what there's someone that I forgot I have to mention his name Gara from SAS with servicenow he's one of the people that I started following first and he was the first one that I could really understand like how servicenow actually works so he seems to be like I can't really find him but he is someone that I absolutely look up to oh fantastic I think you know people notice names that they just spoke connect them follow them I I am almost activated each of them are the Fantastic people to connect and learn from next query next rapid fire question for you if you were to decide a name of a service no version that is coming in future like we have Tokyo we have in Utah coming up okay what would that be one name maybe anyone could you to start with sorry uh India sorry let me answer like is it yeah NASA is like India India India perfect what would you choose if you have that kind of superpower with you absolutely I'm in the city of Los Angeles but Los Angeles is Spanish for City of Angels so that's what I would like it to be City of Angels ah fantastic uh it should be like I liked Oreo then it is a Oreo okay Oreo okay fantastic okay okay so suppose in the next amplifier question suppose the genie comes up and it gives you one wish to choose between any of the Mainland certification or an MVP tag what did you choose me oh my God just one wish to follow you know the genie is here what did you choose any of your certification that you wish or to be or like an MVP tag Shakil to start with you yeah I want to keep my everything okay I think people not both no the genie can just fulfill one of her wish so I you know I think MVP Tech MVP Tech Kali yeah I think I'm gonna have to go with MVP as well that that is an incredible honor yeah but I think I could work my way to MVP so I I wouldn't do that with either one of them okay the last query that I have it is more of a generic thing really suggestion that you have to service now as a complete organization like you know do you feel that you know any suggestion that you think that you know it's not only Improvement but anything that you see should be added or something like anything that you feel that you should give a suggestion to service them yeah you know one of the things that I would really like to see you know because I say this all the time in my streams that there's a big initiative around rise up to scale up one million people on the platform by the end of 2022. what I would love to see in the ecosystem is for there to be a clearer pathway for these one million people to move into jobs that can keep them gainfully employed because it's one thing to say that we want to scale up these people but it's also another thing to say that we're going to get these folks jobs as well so that's the thing that I would like to see more clearly defined within our ecosystem any recommendations or anything suggestions that you have so I think uh like communication with the service no uh like new thing which will be or like of from the next version which I saw like generative AI com and the Vancouver in the vancouverly so are like more content will be available uh till in that or in the first version like uh I saw there's only two three blocks still not because AI excites me more so that's why uh I found like only two and for the uh it will be start from the November right so uh we'd like to learn more and more so it will be available soon before the next days like learning content at least it's a good idea Shakil any suggestions from you yeah like I requested like to conduct knowledge event in India yeah why are you listening all the stickers that we have from full of house if it is in India all the seats were will be booked within one hour correctly pointed I think in India we have lots of you know you know interests in a learning service now in a growing with service stop perfect I think with the interest of time you know I'll just wrap up the session another big thank you and it means a lot that you know it's not only just about your time but you know you have inspired us you know this session will inspire us since long you know three different successful journey and you know we wish you all the best that you learn more and grow more in service now and I wish to see you all back in the middle meetups with some other contents you know sharing more knowledge with us but for the time being a big thank you and you know we are obliged with all your time and all sharing thank you so much so much for having me you all have a great weekend stay dry thank you thank you Krishna thank you perfect perfect I think we we have had a very good internet working station and in all the sharing sessions already but you know there's something that we should always prefer you know sharing the technical knowledge and I know I think we have got an expert today the person are you there with us hey hello yes I'm here how are you doing I'm doing great and thanks for a great host I'm talking to I apologize I know thankful that you're taking a time out on a Saturday morning and sharing your knowledge with us means a lot I think Tapas has a very good and interesting technical session with us you know I I will not consume time I know I've overshot a bit of more time so Tapas please go hit the mic is always I think you'll need rights to share your screen yes I think I have that already please yeah uh thank you for that so it was a wonderful session so far and I started enjoying it um this is the I have attended a few more but this is looking special because we have wonderful guests like Sarah pranav and Kali who have said their experience and uh I think this is the time for me to Deep dive into one of the topics the topic is software Asset Management I think most of you or some of you would have heard about this uh but what I have is uh because I will also look at my time and just let me check how much time I had I think the time is around 30 minutes but I will try to uh cover the things like if you need a couple of moments I think we'll more than happy to learn from you no worries so but I will try to keep it precise and one more disclosure before we move on all the things that I am presenting even I have also learned it from the now learning okay now learning is the phase from where I started learning all this gun change and then I try to summarize it and I'm trying to present it here so that's what I'm trying to introduce here and when I say that so I'm going to start with a quick introduction of myself so currently I'm working as a practice manager in the service now and my journey with service now is also amazing so far and what uh total I have around 15 years of experience and when I talk about this 15 years of experience those two nine years is with service now started as they had been implementation specialist and developer with Unisys Corporation and right now I'm leading a team of around 25 members who are situated globally and total 120 member team where I'm working as a platform architecture practitioners and when it comes to the different modules that we have implemented we have implemented almost all the basic as well as the advanced modules started with the itsm then the itbm and also the hardware asset management software assessment management performance Matrix if someone asked me the question Susan didn't ask me that question okay which is your favorite module so far then software asset management is my favorite module including the two other Concepts like the hardware asset management and the primary item space the iksh management space even I have a book published for on that which is available in amazon.com as well so why this module is more interesting and why it is something that I always look at as the core part of any organization when they look at saving the cost now the market if we look at everyone is almost all the organizations they are trying to save the cost they try to set the cost in terms of software Hardware travel hike by the way so but when you look at these costs of incomes they need intelligent tools to help them and in that area these servicenow soft reset management is the right sheet what does it do we try to give a quick overview of the entire business what is currently available okay let me rearrange the taking the email out okay so what he's saying and what does it do it systematically tracks and evaluates and manages the software licenses compliance and optimization and also helps to orchestrate the reclaim process of the unused software rights which has been purchased or has been installed in one of the machine and not in used proactively and it includes the cost and budgeting strategy and decision making processes in the acquisition used and disposal of the software resources whether it is internal external on-premises or in the cloud mark this one this is very important because internal there are a lot of software that has been installed and consumed and also we have the external systems maybe the partner systems customer systems and other systems where it has been installed or has been given as on rent or these programs and also on the cloud because most of the Assets Now moving towards the cloud space what are the different softwares that is there in the so in the system or in a business organization to talk about some examples we have the operating systems we have the Windows operating systems we have the Linux operating systems and there are so much Solaris there are so many different types of operating systems that is available also have different types of database starting from Oracle to SQL Server to mySQL and so on and also a variety of applications those applications could be for the internal use or has been installed in some of the other systems for example we are talking about the monitoring then some Monitoring Solutions also we have implementing the customer space maybe that license we are bearing the cost okay so there are variety of softwares maybe millions of different types of software that has been available in the market and it is very important for the organization to keep a track of what are the Investments the ROI they are looking for Investments they have made and how much return they are getting out of stock that's something the same application that comes more handy for the organization uh feel free to ask the questions if any time you get I'm just looking at the chart window and now there is a note here so what I am going to present here that is based on the uttar reviews and in this case there are some changes that has been made from the previous releases if your organization or your developer instance is in a different instance then some of the classic features that has been available that has been now moved to the workspace so that may be it it will change now what is the importance of the same practice in the organization so when I say the same is focuses on balancing and accounting the software licenses and agreements purchased in addition to the software being used and the software assets are managed to ensure and excuse me ensure all the uses of all softwares is in line in terms of the conditions of the software and the other conditions from the software vendor which I am going to Showcase to you okay in the servicenow platform and all these strategic goals that the organization want to achieve that also has been taken carefully on for example suppose we the organization want to negotiate the number of volumes again I can give a classic example here okay and I'm going to take it from this service now only recently we got a invoice from the service now saying that we are over utilizing the number of licenses that has been purchased by us both for the it om space as well as for the itsm space now if I look at your then we can track as the organization we have to be compliant and the same applies for other software as well suppose we have bought around 500 different Windows licenses and we are consuming less than that or more than that in either case the organization is not utilizing its resources properly if it is over utilized then it's a compliance if it is underutilized then the prediction that has been done some time back that we need this many licenses we invested for that that amount is also getting vested here apart from that there are many Securities if a unauthorized software has been installed in any of the machines which expose some of the critical data to the uh to the external world so in this cases it is pretty much important for the organization to keep the compliance in mind and fulfill or fulfill all the compliance needs and also make sure that they are not under utilizing some of the software that they are paying for one of the examples which I can give here is let's say Microsoft projects that is one of the software that everyone do not need that but someone has requested it installed on the laptop but it's not used for over a period of time let's say close to eight months then companies paid for that but that is not been used then how to track that there should be a notification or there should be a widget or death book where that data will be captured that how many such people are there who have used that software but has not used for a longer period of time then they can be notified that whether you want to use it or we will reclaim that so all those features that has been provided by service now so that the Roi the rest whatever the investment that company has made on purchasing the software and its licenses that can be better utilized what are the different terminologies that is there in the same practice but before I go there let me pause for a moment and go to the service now screen and try to discuss about the things that I just now spoken about in the serial platform sinach any questions okay let me move on so or if you I have already installed the plugin so let me discuss about what are the plugins that has been needed for the software Asset Management so in the developer platform I'm talking about it from learning perspective if it is Enterprise then automatically it will be bought so when we go to the activate plugin and in the list of the plugins when we type software then we will get two or three different options so the option that I have installed here is activate all software Asset Management professional plugin and I have installed it with the demo data you can also do the same and also what I have installed is the software Asset Management professional for engineering applications so engineering applications are a set of softwares like CAD which we have uh and that's generally used for the engineering company so that is also if you look at AutoCAD that something is there here so I have installed both I'm going to talk about both here also what I have done is installed with the demo data so these are the two plugins that has been installed and what brings to the uh to the platform with activation with this plugin so once I install this plugin it given me these tables so these are the different tables that got installed along with this uh plugin total 2 11 different this is again may not be the exact number but I just search with Sam and I got 211 table that has been installed after this plugin enablement and these are the different tables which is going to hold the data and its relationships which is relevant to the software set management table and one thing you can notice here that these tables are extension of this cmdb table we know cmtv table is the best so cmtv table has been extended for the soft preset management practice what else comes along with it it also brings different types of roles and to talk about different roles that got added after this same model has been installed so I okay so what are the different plugins sorry what are different roles that added with the plugin installation let us look at that so these are the different roles which got added after this plugin has been installed again here or so I'm searching by Sam so these are the primary plugins which has been available and most widely used is the same user which gives the access to oh which gives okay so there are some questions let me take that one before I come to here dot Sam provide the alternate tool asset say the asset is being under utilized yes obviously that that is also is provided and also we can integrate with the third party tools as well uh to bring that data as well just to give an example we have one more tool which is frequently used in many organizations like flexera that also does similar kind of work but many organizations and what they try to do is to to have a single window that means a single dashboard where everything can be tracked starting from cmdb to itsm modules to the software set management is going to the good things that's why what they do is they integrate the flex error with service now so that a single platform will be utilized in place of users being going to multiple different platforms okay sorry for that yeah nope that's right obviously that's uh I think that's the question that was looking for anything else that uh specific that he was looking for did I answer your question I would say maybe if you wish you can unmute yourself okay that's fine okay now um okay obviously that's okay you can flexor that's the example I given because we can integrate flexor with service now as well flexor is also a very good tool and it has its own benefits but generally organizations do not want to go to multiple tools and that's the benefit of servicenow as a platform right we can integrate multiple third party tools to the same platform so that the people the people from the management and from the delivery side they no need to go to multiple tools and keep watching them in place of that a single uh single platform will be there for all kinds of monetary okay perfect okay so now uh if I look at what are the different roles that has been coming and what type of users that user personals that we have so the primary one that we can look at is the same user and the same okay this role grants the user access to the software assessment management module and included in the asset management okay so there are no doubt different roles and by looking at that we can understand that admin role definitely is the little higher higher privilege and user role is between lower privilege and the indicator role people who are working with the integration with different thought qualities they are going to use it okay so these are the different roles that comes by out of the box and based on the user Persona what kind of activities they are going to do based on that the roles has been granted to that the primary difference or the primary role that we have here if you look at the administrator role what is a system administrator or as a same administrator what are the different activities people managed to do and this is something I will be talking in detail as well the normalization path okay so when I say normalization so we understood that there are multiple different types of software that is present in the ecosystem but when and how we are going to bring that data to the servicenow platform and what are the different components of that let's talk about that so when I come to all and I type software then we have a whole lot of applications that has been available for us here so what I have done just I added the whole set to my favorite so it is now available in my favorite so that I don't need to come and search for it every time and then I will be talking about the critical elements of weight okay so let's Deep dive into it so when I come over to the system then the first thing that I can look at here is the overview and in overview there are two things one is the publisher and second is the engineering license overview and if you remember just some time back I discussed about the plugins which I have enabled one is the engineering same license plugin and second is the normal plugin that is for the all these different softwares management related things okay let me go and show you that as well so if I go to the list of the plugins which has been enabled here so these are the different plugins which has been it's there in my PPT as well so by the time it comes let me show you that answer so these are the different plugins that has been installed first one is software set management professional and along with that some publisher specific when I say publisher these are the companies which which are providing different types of softwares like sap sap has a whole lot of different products that has been available VMware there are a lot of products available from that similar for Adobe and Citrix and IBM there are multiple products that has been available okay and along with that the performance analysis content paid which is specifically built by service now for the soft Asset Management has been professional plugin that is also been activated along with it and also we have the asset management performance analytics premium plugin that is also been added and this is a new thing which is software systems and UI components because a new UI that has been introduced from the latest releases so that is also is getting coming over to here so if I look at here and I just type my uh I can just little bit navigate and if you look at under the asset management we will have this one where all these plugins are available I think let me go for a software easy if you look at these are the different plugins that got automatically installed here along with it so we have the IBM related software asset management and all the activate all the software plugins for the same module that has been installed and uh specific modules like partner scientists premium for software administer and content spec and also along with that Playbook we need a store which I have not installed and then the professional and also along with the engineering applications and ibms VMware and ey components so these are the different plugins that got installed when I installed those two plugins from each other now when I talk about the different uh when we talk about a different uh modules primarily the overview modules that is coming what does it provide to us so when I'm coming to the overview then I can see that all the different applications that has been installed through the plugin and the here those are called Publishers like Adobe is a publisher IBM is a publisher like that Microsoft also is a publisher so the company which is providing the software we are referring the term publisher for them here and if I look at how much the organization is spending for that specific publisher the amount is being displayed here in this case if I talk about organize on XYZ for which this data has been represented for IBM related products they are spending around 14 million dollars same thing for sap around 954 okay that's the all are in US dollars so these are the different costs that have been there and if I look at these are the true up costs and what is the software spend breakdown that has been available and also we can break it down based on the publisher or by the product products are from the publisher if I Want to Break It Down based on the products then I can see that so these are the different products and for which how much the organization is spending and also what we can see that how many products that is and it means approaching the end of life all the product has been end of life but still it's been used if I take a classic example the Windows operating systems some people are still using suppose XP then it will be part of the end of product which will be notified here if I take one more example which has recently been done the Microsoft uh Internet Explorer that is also one of the product which is already end of life so those products if it has been still in use that will be available under the and the light products that have been available okay and also it's going to give us a complete figure that within this week from 2023 what is the total true of cost and how many Publishers they have gone out of compliance and how many products that has gone out of compliance and how much savings the organization can do by optimizing the different licenses that has been used if I hit on that particular number let's say 10 it will show me the list of those specific Publishers who are out of compliances of now suppose if I look at Adobe system currently we are out of compliance either we are using something more than that or some of the products that has been not up to Mark suppose I want to see which are those products you can just click on that and it will give me the list okay so these are the different Adobe system related products and it will give me the product number and also it will give me that whether we are compliant or not if I take one example here let's say Adobe InDesign which is currently not compliant why it is not compliant so we can go and we can check that detail and we can take the necessary action for that one as well okay I can here click so when I click on here then it will show me the non-compliant non-compliant and there are different versions of that so if I click on that info it will give me that what is the problem so if you look at here total writes on 200 rights used is 200 and allocated in use 184 and currently we are not allocated 15 so that number is there and it is per device and for user that count also we can see so 40 more licenses are also has been consumed so total 15 is not allocated but 40 more is in use so total if we count then it is more than 240 minus 15 still it is non-compliant so and what are the different features that servicenow provides because this is something they can do it using multiple other tools as well but why service now is special for the organizations there so that they can do it if I take and here I think the question that obviously cause some time back is going to be more useful we can have multiple different tools to track the uses of different kinds of products if I say that how they utilization in the cloud products that we are using that is a separate tool which calculates start or that provide that information but we have other tools as well for different different uh different other scenarios so in those scenarios we can connect all those tools to this service now so that we can have the clear picture and also we can do the automation from here so let me take some questions which is where here while you're sharing this screen uh on this particular Adobe CC 2017 you see it is it has non-compliant right correct and if I look at the uh name device rights it's 200 and I'll updated in use is 184 and not allocated in use of 15. so yeah it's showing non-compliant because the devices are being used without being allocated or is it because it's exceeding uh I don't think it is exceeding the right right it's a it's an awesome question very good question look at your total is bought 200 okay but it is per device and per user as well okay so you have to you have to add both yep because the organization in total has bought more than around 240 right yes no no they bought 200 uh okay sorry 240 they probably 240 rights are different I I say that and the total utilization is just 239 if I 184 plus 15 is like what 199 and 40 rights uh which are look at you look at here on the top you will get the actual figures okay so uh this is also we have the information currently licensed installs 290 on license instructions look at this number as well okay we are non-compliant because there are people who have not used the authorized version of the maybe they download it from somewhere and install it let's say they downloaded from some third party websites without using the original version that has been bought that's the reason it is showing on licensed installs and there is a number here okay and we also get those people named and on which message it has been installed it is non-compliant because until unless we fix this one the it's not only about how many numbers it's about how many original softwares that we are using and how many on authorized installs that has been there in the system we need to calculate that as well okay uh if you go to remediation options uh what what all remediation options we have for this uh yeah very good question again so if you look at this contains two type of people one is unauthorized and those people who are installed it but not using for a very long okay so if we do the remediation here so remediation is again one of the beautiful features that that is provided by the service now here which in the back end uses the orchestration okay so we have the workflow that has been defined here and if we go to any of the remediation options again we call it Reclamation okay so it goes through a step up the steps first is attention required where we can notify to the people and the same team that these are the different things that we can save the cost and then we can notify the user that what is the justification that it will be there with you do you need it or you don't need it or maybe it was his manager for approval all those things that will go for and after that if we do not get a satisfactory answer we can directly revoke it from using the orchestration that has been available from this servicenow and there is a point based on my experience I'm saying this one sometimes we need to deploy one of the third party tools as well to kick off this orchestration some part of it will be done from the service now again servicenow is going to servicenow workflow is going to call that third party tool and if primary in those cases where there is a secure network and servicenow do not have access to go and remove that because some of the devices are highly protected right so in those cases we use a third party tool as well service now orchestral kickoff and it will instruct that tool to go and remove and give a confirmation message so there are different tools available for that as well thank you so uh click on that remediation options tab the second one or from after the license matric results on the top screen write a book this is the one okay yeah so uh like these are the different remediation options right correct um excluding the purchase rights and um remove unallocated installs what are the other types like create allocations uh would create those extra unlicensed install as licensed one right or what what's the uh what was those three options very good again one one of the very good question now look at your 15 people have done the unlicensed install okay so in that case what should be happening but they are the people who are actively using it in that case what should happen is remove the unlicensed version and install the original version which is service company has purchased it okay so basically this logging with these companies email address or whatever the mechanism the company has in place right absolutely absolutely okay so in that case what will happen the on license version will be removed or it will be okay I will give a very good example here okay sometimes when you look at your Microsoft Office you installed on your personal laptop office laptop won't happen so in your personal laptop suppose you look at it will ask for the validation key please provide the product key okay but your product is already installed in your system it's now asking for the product key to validate yes you have a licensed version which you purchase from the Microsoft okay so that product key now is available with the organization suppose one of the employee has installed the unlicensed version of the MS office on the laptop now the product key has been asked then the product key will be allocated to that device so that that will become a full version and the employee won't get that message again it's a allocation of the right product to the person who is currently using a unlicensed version make sense yeah got it thank you I have one more question if you don't mind I have one last question go ahead go ahead so um I have a real-time situation where we had to face a client like they have purchased this bundled license like uh if you purchase Office 365 uh based on that uh EU gets at another softwares for free right like I mean not for free but their bundle with that particular software right okay so uh one of the situation we faced is like we were trying to calculate the licenses okay uh and the bundle software uh one of the software is bundled with office 365. but that's being calculated as an independent software license and every time we run the reconciliation it is showing as non-compliant but the company or I mean the executives know that this is a bundle software and this is not exceeding the rights we have purchased so like we were like in and out and we're not able to figure out a solution like how how do we remediate I mean there are like create an entitlement record and say okay this is from this particular bundled software but is there any out of the box solution like which automatically remediates that bundled software issue excellent uh classic one actually actually the similar kind of problem we also faced when we were implementing it for one of the customer okay and usually this is uh happened sometimes when our our see at the end of some logic has been written okay in fact logic is not been upgraded based on the current product suit that has been available from the Microsoft just to give the example again that's Ms office now has six products one seventh one they given three along with it okay but our engine that is in currently there if it is not upgraded then we have to wait or we have to report it uh so that they will upgrade the I have also came across the same thing and or we have to raise the exception inside the suppressant management module for that specific use case Okay so this is uh so most of the time people may come across because immediately when the product is available in the market maybe in the back end our Logics has not been upgraded so that that is expected sometimes okay thank you okay so either you have to do it or you have to ask servicenow product team to look at that part and it is a pretty common scenario do we have any blog or article uh like where we can have the troubles to shooting steps for uh the Sam Pro module basically like reconciliation beat um license management Etc uh some of the trouble string steps that I have noted down in my PPT which I will share across after this I will put it two-way drive and you can see that but that's not complete because when you set troubleshoot there could be 100 yeah okay so whatever the 10 or 15 scenarios which I have came across I have documented that but there could be more but in those cases either we have to try or we have to raise a high case with that service now support team to help us in that scenarios and what I've seen is all the cases like this whenever I found ASU it proactively I got the support from the high team and we fixed that account really good to see same stand out from different other same tools available in the market and how we can motivate customer to opt for this service now same excellent and let me tell you here there are two scenarios and this is the scenarios which I'm selling in my recent conversation with one of our customers so the customer uh they wanted to go for uh service now same but there was a high boost from the management uh from management of when I say customer again customer has multiple different departments right the management wanted to go for flexera and the department the delivery department these software search management director he was more keen to go for the service now same module okay so in that case he asked us our help to go and give a pitch and we in that case we also hired service and service now team also joined and that's a good thing about service now whenever you need support they are always help you and even in terms of presenting so uh our account relationship management manager as well as the uh the same material expert from service now just joined us and they're given a presentation and they try to say show us that the difference between what service now provides the additional benefits on top of your other tools that is available just to give the primary benefit that we highlighted there your cmkb sits in service now okay when you say cmtv all your CI and CI related applications along with the discovery when it runs everything has been captured and it's a central repository for this cmtv that's available inside the service now and all the iksm modules are also consuming that CI information and also we have the Cs also we have the service mapping related capability csdm is also available if some people are using that so all these things are already available with us if you go for a third party maybe all this information are not available there and also you have to build another hands like the integration to consume from here and do some action there so when you do that maybe that may be 100 or may not be 100 okay so in place of that either if you want to go for that specific software go for that but you integrate with service now same module or directly go for this service not same module so that you will have a central repository connected to the servicenow platform and the different modules that has been available okay that's the benefit that provides when you have a single platform all the modules that you consume are connected to different tools that has been available in the market to your central which is service counselor platform then if that answer your question yeah Tapas thanks a lot for giving more insight yeah no problem thank you and another good question from that uh Services integration with other workflows such as itsm hrsd Content Library is quite comprehensive hrsd I don't think we need to directly do it because HR USD module is little different maybe you have a specific use case which I am not thinking of as of now but yes when you have all the modules of service now consuming the base tables and the best platform capabilities you are always have a upper hand good point and replacing okay replying to servicenow same same application system it tracks evaluates here that's something gaurav has posted uh okay I think uh one more I can see that there are not much questions after that okay thank you for you guys uh kids are saying or for it like other things okay so in the best interest of time just I'm moving a little faster here so this is going to tell us how the Publishers are available how the products are available and how can we get the compliance data that has been available and how can we orchestrate from the back end so that it can be better used okay that's something is available here what are the other features that is available with that the other features that is going to be there and I want to talk about it just now given a hint about that now I am going to get more into detail into that discovery when we have a larger system in place then it's not possible to manually track each and every device and the applications that has been installed and servicenow Discovery is really capable of finding all those informations and put it into the system okay so if you look at here we have the discovery module which is also as I added the direct servicenow mode software Asset Management module to my favorites this is also getting part of that so what are the discovered engineering licenses what are the models that has been discovered so when I say model what are the different softwares that are referred as model 3o and also it provides the normalization suggestions let me talk about a little bit here suppose when I go to the Discovery part for engineering application licenses so these are the different applications which is available for engineering companies to do different kinds of graphics and the designing things okay suppose I talk about one thing which is Autodesk here if I'm talking about the Autodesk Inc which is the publisher and this is the product which has been available by them so this product has been installed in one of the machines or more than one machine which has been discovered by the discovery tool and it has been created here now tomorrow if there is a new version of the same product which is available like 2019 and then let's say 2020 then it's also going to detect the same and it's going to be available in our Discover it will be discovered and it will be available in our same DB so all these products their versions and all of them are going to be available in the system and and how many devices and how many users has been tagged to that that can be directly seen from here and also you can see what type of Licensing that we have gone for whether it's a floating means more than one person based on the uses or it's a fixed license so all those things are also is available inside this and if I go to the product I can see that how many different product models that has been available and also I can see that what are the different electrons and what I can see here is that what are the different information about it and also we can see that whether it is the okay let it download comes okay so now what I can say is all the information about it and also I can see I think it's taking a bit more time yeah so how what are the different project information and also what we can see here is the life cycle of all the versions that we have and also we can see that the discovery models if you look at your so matching Discovery models sometimes similar kind of product may be the version will be different will be available for us and we can do the normalization also in our system that feature is also available okay and also one of the beautiful features that I liked is if any of the user anytime want to request this product to be installed on the on his or her machine then we can directly create a catalog and that catalog will be available in our self-service portal so people can go and they can request for it from the self-service portal itself so in that way a request will be going to the respective team and the the team when they approve whether it's manager or the software assessment team once they will approve it then only that product will be available for them if the product is no more in use we can deactivate that catalog as well okay so that is one of the another best feature using the platform capability with a software set event module that is also available with us any questions okay good so now uh this is about the discovery part I'm just going little faster here but there are so many things that we have and one of the best feature that I have seen here is the license workbench so this is going to give us the complete uh complete again this is something I shown sometime back I'm just coming up here we can see the complete view of all the products their Publishers and how it has been used and what are the different uh different cost and how much cost saving that we can do each and everything that you've been there here what brings this data from means how this data is coming up here so we have the data available in our different cmdb table that I saw you sometime back around 200 plus tables that we had and the data is then analyzed using the performance analysis capability that is coming along with the software supplement module it calculates how much the spending is there for each publisher or each product how much is the actual bot and what are the compliance related thing and if any user is not using that or not properly the ROI has been realized then that something can be shown under the potential savings so that the uh using the orchestration capability we can leverage or we can release that for any other person's use so these are the different features that has been there but just to admit here so the software set management has lot of lot of things in it it's not a it's a complete bundle of product for the SAS based products like Office 365 sometime back we have spoken about it that is also available for the cloud products when I say cloud the Ajo related products along with the CMP module the cloud management platform module of the service now that also we can relate and we can use that as well also we can look at the help and we can schedule the import and we can create a lot of things like integration options that is also been available so a lot of features are there here I just try to give just a starting point but uh you know I will definitely post a complete video on it in fact I have a 18 hour video which I given training sometime back so I will try to publish that one in uh and I'll provide a link so that all of you can consume that you know thank you like I've just posted the survey link over here please feel free to you know share like a survey details responses this will help us to you know grow learn and improve our meetups you know please you know and you know there are some goodies also that are expected to be shared out on a random business with the responses that we get I've seen very few meetups where you know attendees have been so long till the end you know attending and I think this is one of those spit-ups and we're really thankful I know there are many queries coming up I think one of them we I think we can look into is you know is there any limitations that you see currently that you know you should be aware of yeah that's a very good question again yeah all products have their limitations and the same module has its limitations as well but I am sure that service now as we know is more Innovative and they take the feedbacks from the people and they try to give all this information so slowly today or tomorrow definitely all those things will be taken care uh but yeah there are limitations but when I say limitations I want to be cognizant about the fact that maybe service now is aware of that and they're working in the back end to fix them exactly exactly and and thanks for sharing the link that was the next thing that I was suggesting that you know please feel free to connect with the person like you know I know there would be many more queries that you guys have and I think you know the course is very amicable very approachable and I've always known about him so you know feel free to connect with him and uh if you get a chance to share this in a slide this Meetup is also getting recorded you know we will be sharing the link very soon as soon as we have it uh but you know for the interest of time I think and a big thank you Tapas for taking out the time I know I've been following up a lot for you for this session and I'm really thankful and we all are thankful rather that you know you came up you know shared all this knowledge you know that's not about just sharing the knowledge it's it takes time to build all this you know uh all the ppts and everything so thank you for all the knowledge sharing and putting up the time for all of us thank you for giving me that opportunity you know the this is very important for us to have the feedbacks from you all and it's really really means a lot you know obvious to know to at least understand if you are doing good or which all areas where you know we need to really improve perfect I think before we wrap up anything that used to add up uh no it was uh great to see so many people showing the interest uh I think uh we do we have got lots of responses 330 plus uh have uh are we paid uh for this event and I can see like um uh 90 plus people also joined and still we rarely see people still in the sessions uh but so many people are there so yes thank you all for uh taking time and attending this session like and I'm really happy to see like it's almost 100 that I saw that they were unique you know people that you know joined us and we are really thankful that you know taking your time and we hope that you know the time that you're inputting is you know giving a good Returns on this feel free to connect with meal in any of our hosts also to you know give any suggestions that are there you know that can help us to improve our Solutions or do you see like you know as I said like you know there's one chat show that I'm starting with what would be like the next you know topic that you used to see in the next Meetup feel free to you know connect with us recommend us you know anything that you feel you know we are quite approachable you know on the LinkedIn it's always always there to connect and help okay before we wrap up I think you know the virtual selfie that we always take you know I will request everyone if possible to switch on your cameras if you know if you're comfortable with it and you know and meanwhile maybe I think I'll stop the recording here uh anything that you wish to add I don't know if you're talking you're talking on mute Maybe you can stop sharing you know so that we can have all the
