In this video, we show you how to add a step section
or question to a catalog item wizard. As a catalog administrator,
you may need to add a step section
or question to a catalog item wizard. So catalog
item editors can enter custom details while creating catalog items
using catalog builder. In our example, we want to add
an ownership step after the detail, step by exposing the ownership field of
the catalog item on the catalog builder. We allow the editor to change it now
or later. In this step, we need one section. Define ownership with one question
Who is the owner of this item? We'll start by adding the question. Let's access the catalog wizards list. We want to edit the Create Catalog
Item Wizard, so we select it and then open the associated producer,
which holds the data behind the scenes. This is where we create the new variable
for the question. In the question field, we enter the label
that will be displayed to the user. The owner would be a user in the system,
so for the type we select reference. Since we want the value to be copied to the owner
field on the catalog item table, we check map to field and select owner
for the field. For the reference field,
we select the user table. Note that you can control
whether the variable will be mandatory, read only or hidden. When we submit, the variable is added to the variables
list. Back in the Create Catalog Item Wizard,
we're ready to add the new ownership step. We want this step to appear
between details and location so we give it an order value of 150. If you need a custom step, select
the custom step checkbox in a mac proponent, which is a reasonable building block
in the next experienced UI framework. We're not creating a custom step here,
so we clear the checkbox, populating the feedback
panel with instructions for the catalog. Item editor helps them
with the editing task to create new feedback content. Navigate to catalog wizard
feedbacks and click create new. Back in the new record screen, we select the feedback
we just created for this step. Now we save the step. With the step saved, we can add a section. We need at least one section
within a step to display questions. But you can add more for the style
we choose card, which will display the section
as a white box on a gray background. Flat displays the section without a box will leave order as is. Since we only have one section,
the short description, if given, will display
under the name field for the width. You can select 50 or 100%. 50% is useful when you want two sections
side by side in the step, as shown here. For our example
will choose 100% and save the record. Now we add the question to the section now that we have added our step section
and question. Let's
see how they look in catalog builder. We have an ownership step
and the catalog editor can change the values in the question
field. These values will also be changed in the underlying catalog item because we added ownership
to the catalog item wizard. It will appear while creating a catalog
item as well as while creating a catalog item template on the template. The catalog admin
can initialize the question with a value, make it non editable or make it mandatory like other questions
on the catalog builder. If you want to add the step section
