[Music] hello everyone welcome back to my channel learn it today we will be discussing about one more Utah feature that is auto populate feature in catalog item variables so if you are new to the Channel please like share and subscribe to my channel learn it so let's proceed further and see what is this Auto populate variable feature in catalog item all right so let us move to our catalog items first and I will show you what is it is all about so I have created one catalog item that is learn it auto populate item so now what we will see we will see already one catalog item catalog item variable is created right so you can uh I will try it this catalog item and show what is created right now so right now only one variable is created and that two system administrator is auto populated now there there is lot of requirement in most of the projects like based on this requested for auto populated manager and department or location should be Auto populated based on this user all right so previously we used to write script include or a catalog client script for auto population based on this requested for Value all right so servicenow has done it very easy for us in Utah version we can directly or we can directly create variable and set some features value so let us try to create more variables uh suppose I will create manager and location so these two variables I will be creating right now I will create location with the reference field to location and type specification would be cmn location all right so this is one variable I will create one more variable So currently nothing is populated so let me create more variable first then I will show you what is the configuration that is required to do so let me create one more value so I will create one more variable so what would be the variable name variable name would be manager reference to user table this is the sys user reference I have selected now we will just submit it and let me reload this item again so nothing is populated why because we didn't configure any auto populate feature for this location and manager field so let us try to do it so I will show you how we can do that so first I will open location and manager variable so this is the location variable which I have opened now you can see there is a section Auto populate so we will click here Auto populate and we will see the dependent question dependent question would be requested for and now what dependent question is requested for since it is referencing to user so we are getting a user reference here and we can select other reference as well but we are selecting for user only so dot work path would be for location all right so we will select location here so we will select location all right and in manager field we will select dependent question again as requested for and this would be manager all right so I have selected manager and I will save this both the variables I have saved now let us try to reload this catalog item and see what is the difference right now so I will reload this catalog item and now you can see the location San Diego and manager Allen Morton is populated based on this requested form so I will I can show you see the location is San Diego and manager is highly Immortal and this will not only work on load it will work on change as well so I will select suppose this user and you can see the location is India and manager is system administrator so location and manager also will get changed using this Auto populate feature in variable right so this will eliminate the use of script include and catalog client script for lot of requirements that would be very easy to configure these variables right so this is quite interesting feature so from Utah version I think people will not write catalog landscape for this kind of requester information requirement all right so please provide your comment if you have any questions doubts or queries related to this session for more information please visit the description section under this video thanks for hearing me out stay tuned for more videos please do like share and subscribe to my channel learn ID [Music]
