welcome back um to the second uh video of the practitioner series for the May release May 2023 release of tax now in this video I will show you how to deploy the desktop assistant how to configure the desktop assistant how your employees will use desktop assistant right so you once you have enabled your again feel free to reach out to me to set up your instance with the decks as an oral product suite and I'll help you to give me your instance details and I will help you to set up the decks it's not just a deploying plugins it is a shared services so feel free to reach out to me and I'll help you to get those get your instance set up with the decks for testing and also for further deployments so go to desktop assistant in the desktop assistant uh go to downloads in your downloads you will see single line installer downloads for Windows and Mac and also you will see exe downloads you can basically download and execute the exe for Windows and also for Mac V support both Intel and apple silicon right so here so you can copy this one and install it it's pretty simple and straightforward or if you basically want to execute yeah you can go ahead and execute that one that installer on your um on your Windows machine now I have done both of these I have basically deployed it on my um Windows Virtual Machine so you can see the desktop assistant is installed on my Windows Virtual Machine and also I could basically see it on my Mac as well so I'm using Mac for my demo so you can basically see the Mac as well now out of the box we will ship couple of cards when I say cards let me show you what those cards mean so if I open this desktop assistant so you see this desktop instead so all you have to do is you have to click on this say open you will see the desktop assist right now once you click on the open you will start seeing cards these we call it as cards and these we call it as section there are two sections one is my items and my resources right in the my items we also out of the box we ship a couple of um uh cards my request card Network test employee Center system activity outages and so some cards are shipped out of the box so you can basically add and remove cards so this particular product is built as a framework where you can add and remove cards um you know based on your requirements right so let me show you how to add a card and remove a card uh from the desktop assistant so these cards are completely configurable even the icons are completely configurable so let's say if you wanna let me show you how to see this data on the servicenow side so you have home go to home of the desktop assistant inside the home you'll see sections these are Dex card sections so basically my items my resources so click on my items you'll see the cards which is basically my request create a request buy assets Live support right now you basically go back to my resources in my resources you will see network test outages employee Center system activity Grant admin again so this is a um you know you can add and remove cards basically you can go and reboot cards you can go to my resources in here and you can basically pick one of the cards here and you can delete it and so on so forth based on the permission that you have right now let's say in this case I want to add a card so you could basically go to new card and add a card it can be an hyperlink card or a record credit card or record view card so you can basically add a hyperlink card and the hyperlink card you can put it in here let's say hyperlink card is basically any website let's say news.google.com right so you could basically news.google.com you could copy paste this one you could put it as a you could put it as a URL in your so and you could basically add an icon to the Google and so on so forth so once you are done with this so let's say in this case Google News right so can you can add an icon and you you should be good right now once you have done that so in this case I have added multiple cards so you can see my asset card which is basically a record view card so let me show you how to create a record view card so you could basically click on new card and click on record view card and let's say you want to show the assets to the employees that they own so right so you could basically pick a table uh let's say Alm asset table let's say Hardware so you can basically pick that table you can put a name for that particular uh card and you can basically say visible fields for that particular table and add an icon and then you should be good right now in this case I have set up my asset card which is a record view card as you can see uh which basically points to Hardware table assigned to me which is basically the employee and then it is the visible fields or display name State configuration and so on so forth so this is basically a record view card so you saw record view car hyperlink card record view card and record create a card record Creator is something where you want your employees to submit a request or submit something submit a form so submit something in terms of the request right so you could basically use the record create a card to help employees to create a request and fill the form and create a request so you could basically refer to a particular table and then the employees will be creating that particular record or that particular row of that particular record in that particle table right so in this case I will show you what are the record um so if you look at create a request card is a it's a basically it's a record create a card right so out of the box we ship this card and you can remove this this card based on once you have created a card you need to basically go to that respective section of the of the desktop assistant and you can basically click on new and you could basically map that card you need to do a mapping a card to a section mapping so you need to basically map that car to a particular section right so let's say in the my assets you can map that my assets to resources if you want to right one then you can basically pick the order of the Showcase right now once you are done with this the setup of the admin so you basically deploy the desktop assistant on the AWS device you set up the cards that the that you want the employees to see now you need to add roles right so you need to basically go to users so we have created two roles for that sub assistant so you can go to users in the user so let me show you one of the users here so let's say I have one user Hersh Kumar is one of the users so I have given the harsh Kumar one of the users on this instance a desktop user role right so you can see the desktop user role here so this Persona can basically access desktopus again login into the desktop assistant right now me as an employee which is Harsh Kumar to serve style or to this desktop to this particular instance I could go in here so let me close my instance I could go in here and here I could basically open it as you saw I opened it already now I could basically close it as well so I could basically open it again so I could see my request I could basically go in create a new request right I could basically let's say Zoom is not working right and I could basically see the status of the request Zoom is not working as you can see and I could see the the the requests which are closed requests which are all I could see that and also I could see the my assets the assets that I own in servicenow so there are multiple assets that I own so these are virtual machine that I own and I could see the the category and I could also do the Live support this is basically an hyperlink card I could basically click on the Live support which would basically take me to the screen meet Live Support and and also I could do Network tests directly from here so I could basically execute a simple Network test in here and then I could also look at the outages so you could basically send outage notification to your employees so so the outages will come and sit here not many employees look at outages so outages can be viewed in here so for the outages you could basically go to the servicenow instance there's an outage table so you could basically click on that outage table let me go back so let me see if I have added to my favorites so not not yet so you can go to outages you could add outages in here so once you add outages the outages will start appearing on the Indus device right and also you can send notification right now it was a pull notification um uh it is not a push notification so whenever your employee comes in years they will see the Bell icon with the notification so for notification we are using next experience notification so you can go to favorites send a notification to the employee right so let's say you want to send notification to the employer you can create a new notification and you can send that notification to that particular employee so right and once you have that notification your employees can see the notification as part of the Bell icon so they can click on it they'll see the notification all ends on Wednesday and they close it right so they can see the notification they can make it as red so they can click on it and then once that is done it'll the notification will go away so again employees can also Access employee Center which is basically an hyperlink card and also your employees can look at uh do Grant admin access directly from here and also employees can search for knowledge based articles so let's say the knowledge base articles let's say I want to search for uh reset password for my machine I could basically look for reset password knowledge based articles in the desktop consistent itself so so basically desktop assistant is mainly built to to do cell service help employees to troubleshoot help employees to easily access service now right now when I say easily access servicenow you can create requests easily you can access the information that you need especially assets you can create requests you can view the the records of servicenow in here and also you could basically hyperlink certain URLs that you want your employees to easily access from their device right so with this I want to end my desktop assistant uh video practitioner video where I talked about setting up with the desktop assistant adding the user to a desktop assistant um creating a card adding a card to the desktop assistant into a pretty close section and how to view that desktop assistant in the employee perspective now employee all they have to do is they have to log let's say in this case they have to log in into um the desktop assistant using their employee portal credentials again employees don't need additional credentials to log in it will be using the same employee portal credentials to log in into servicenow right and it will go through single sign-on we have already if you have oauth set up with the servicenow it will go through oauth and the single sign-on that you have set up on the service now for the employee's authentication right so so with this I want to end my desktop assistant practitioner video series um you know feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions um on the team's Channel or on the uh or email I'm happy to you know take any questions that you have thank you so much
