foreign little breadcrumbs that appear as you build out filters on lists wouldn't it be nice if there was something similar for related records did you know there is it's called the parent breadcrumbs formatter and as the name suggests it works off the parrot field on a record let's take a look at an example using test records here we are on the incident list and when we filter the active incidents related to email we see the parent field not only connects a couple of the incidents together but there's also a problem record involved as well now let's go into incident record 58. we'll use the form menu to navigate to configure form design in the form designer we'll create a new section make it a single column and move it to the top over on the left under all the fields we see formatters and there's one called parent breadcrumbs let's drag that out to the new form section at the top and Save now when we reload the form we see that the parent record is incident 47 and the parent of that record is problem 55. pretty neat and this isn't limited to just tasks any table that has a field named parent can use this formatter the cmdb is full of them and we could even use it on a custom table the parent breadcrumb formatter is a handy way to help users navigate around the related records that's all for this time don't forget if you've got a tip about the platform an app or capability share it with the world and don't forget to use the hashtag servicenowdyk to be part of the community I'll be back soon with another servicenow Dyk thanks for watching [Music]
