Technology Workflow Utah Release ITOM Instantly Manage Containers via Cloud Native Operations

[Music] thank you hello and welcome my name is Kyle Stefan and I'm a solution consultant here at servicenow focused on all things it operations management or itom and today we'll be focused in on the now platform Utah release more specifically drilling into it operations management and our Cloud native operations a quick notice here this presentation may contain forward-looking statements that here into our technology workflows and with itom in particular so we have a few additional updates with our Cloud operations workspace enhancements and our Automated machine learning service mapping which we have additional videos on as well but today we're really going to be focusing on instantly managing new containers with our Cloud native operations so jumping in here it's going to show a video that shows how to deploy Cloud native operations to a cluster is going to pull up the terminal show that process and then show how you can manage them within the kubernetes Explorer but really let's talk about the value here and so with our Cloud native operation solution you can use cloud native yaml or yaml scripts to deploy containers with agents and mid servers built in and this ensures that you have all the elements needed to gather Discovery and Health Data from the moment that container is created and you'll be able to keep your operations service aware and your seemed to be up to date while also automatically scaling Discovery resources as you add and remove instances and containers our cloudnative operation solution is available with professional and Enterprise level subscriptions to itom and it really helps address some of the challenges that customers faced when trying to get Discovery working in Cloud containers this includes things such as penetrating containers and writing collected data to an available mid server managing multiple different sets of credentials and configuring new containers which can be ephemeral to actively collect needed operations data so by implementing Discovery and health architecture at the same time you stand up a container you ensure that your operations management runs at the same speed as your development and as your business and this is particularly important in Cloud native operations where timed values critical and so our solution is designed to be easy to implement and easy to scale so you can get this up and running quickly one thing that's also important to note here in summary is that container-based Innovations truly accelerate cloud value and so with our solution we aim to help enable your operations from the start by deploying containers with built-in visibility and health while also automatically scaling Discovery resources to meet demands and drilling a little bit deeper here in addition to our Cloud native operation solution we've added a new feature that helps increase the visibility with kubernetes Resources with our new kubernetes Explorer and this is going to allow you to manage the visibility of kubernetes in the same place you manage visibility of cloud resources so you'll be able to visualize kubernetes resources Trends over time easily drill down into kubernetes components to manage specific resources and this kubernetes Explorer is going to be particularly useful for Discovery admins cmdb admins Cloud native operations owners devops teams and to activate it you just have to go to Applications go to all and then search for cloud operations workspace and install version 1.4 or higher and our new kubernetes Explorer requires a Utah release which is why we're talking about these new Utah updates today and it can be used with agentless or Cloud native operations deployments so before the release of this feature ultimately the k-8's dashboard was separate from the cloud operations workspace and had limited reporting capabilities but now with this new feature K8 data visualization is now available directly within Cloud operations workspace and has increased reporting capabilities so in summary our new product releases help address some of the key challenges in Cloud native operations while also providing Innovative new features that improve visibility and management for these kubernetes resources another last piece I wanted to touch on here is the auto scaling of these containerized mid servers so we see a few bullet points here from being able to leverage CPU and RAM usage to automatically scale up and down containerize mid servers the flexibility to choose which mid server clusters are automatically scaled and how as well as being able to Define minimum and maximum numbers of mid servers to be deployed for each cluster and ultimately we're targeting this point of value of being able to kick off this Auto scaling of containerized mid servers because before there was a struggle to dynamically set the number of containerized mid servers needed there was manual intervention needed it was the only way to really scale up and down mid servers and when mid-servers were set to a status of down you get that risk of losing data so now with this in place only CPU and RAM and the number of replicas is what you need to set in advance containerized midservice can automatically be scaled up and down that is configured out of the box and before a midserver is set the status of down we added in the status of draining which will help save data so in summary the reason we added this is that you can automatically scale the number of mid servers up and down on K8 and this was not previously supported and in addition we want to help reduce that administrative overhead to help your organization accelerate time to value so thank you for tuning in today to our new feature release update video for our Cloud native operations
