Setting up for Success with EAM: Modern Asset Management Principles & Setting Realistic Expectations
hello everyone thank you for joining us here today as we talk about how we can set up for success with Enterprise asset management acronized and eam we're going to talk about those modern asset principles and then setting those successful expectations a couple things to go over as we proceed through uh the state Harbor notice uh if we discuss any forward-looking content most of what we discussed today will be available but if we do get into any roadmap conversations to take Hardware will apply another thing to keep an eye out for we do have a bunch of other future webinars and meetups we'll take about 10 seconds here if anyone wants to pull out their phone and scan this QR code I think in the chat we also got a web link there so we won't dwell too much on this slide uh the point is is we've got a lot of other forums out there not just for Enterprise asset management but other things as well uh some quick housekeeping we save times the end for Q a so as myself and my colleague Colette as we go through the content uh if you have any questions feel free to use that q a button in your Zoom app and post it right there and then we'll address all those at the end um but we definitely want to address as many as possible um this is being recorded and it will be shared on the community so if you have colleagues that couldn't make it they're covered um we'll be posting feedback thank you very much all right so I'm Brad uh I'm an outbound product manager with the asset management team uh my focus right now is on Enterprise Asset Management as well as some of the other Asset Management disciplines and I'm joined here by Colette so Colette maybe you could just say hello real quick um rather than me reading what we got on here yeah use that good morning good afternoon and good evening everyone I'm Khaled nasura I'm the uh the product head for Enterprise Asset Management servicenow good to be with you today yeah thank you so much for being here with us Collide we're really excited to have you here um as the product lead for Enterprise Asset Management I think it's safe to say you know a thing or two about it so that's why we're glad to have you here for this conversation all right so here's our agenda uh we're you know we want to make as much of this hour as possible so uh we're going to start talking about foundational data in order to keep tenants for setting up for Success um we'll probably spend most of the conversation on that we'll then spend some time on the equally important process driven approach you know what to think about with your stakeholders and your partners and then finally we'll wrap up with that data enrichment when you've completed one and two and you've got essentially the people the process and the technology in place what can you do to plan your internal roadmap and you know align with everyone for those uh successful expectations so here we go let's kick off with the foundational data when we're talking about why servicenow Asset Management um it's all about connecting the Enterprise on a single platform and then automating the asset lifecycle with workflows not just for Enterprise assets but for other assets as well which we'll discuss in a second and then you know the key outcome for that uh is reducing cost and risk to your business there's multiple other outcomes especially for Enterprise Asset Management we're going to get into those for a second but for the purposes of a elevator pitch slide you know this is one of the main use cases for why server is now Asset Management I'm going to go over this slide here and then the next slide we're going to bring Cloud into the conversation and have essentially our own little fireside chat about this um but this is a graphical representation of what I was talking about that single platform for Asset Management if we're starting from left to right you can see those Cloud resources and assets increasingly people are shifting um their workplaces to a hybrid or you know Cloud environment um more and more of those things are not running on premise but they're running in the cloud of course the software uh that's ubiquitous in these times whether it's on-premise hybrid or Cloud Hardware Assets Now when we're talking about Hardware assets we're primarily talking about those I.T assets so computers servers network devices mobile devices and then what we're going to be talking about here today Enterprise assets so this is just a sample of those Enterprise assets uh Frontline back office equipment production Machinery connected assets facilities if it's important to your business and you classify it as an asset that's most likely an Enterprise asset so we're going to get into that right here now on the next slide so by way of a simple definition Enterprise asset management is the process of overseeing the full life cycle of business physical business assets to meet operational targets to maximize usable life and minimize risk so I'm going to pause there for a second and bring Colette in here and Clyde when we're talking about those modern asset management principles and we think maybe just back 10 20 years ago and and we think now today um you know how do you think eam fits into that today um you know just to get your quick take on that yes thank you uh Brad so you know many of the uh Legacy Solutions uh they've been out for uh 20 plus years and many of those are still in use today you know I probably can put them in two buckets the first one are the large Erp systems and the second one is are the uh Point Solutions and the point solution systems by by their definition that they're focused on a narrow scope of how do you look at your assets and many of them just simply look at the maintenance of servicing of these assets and they don't consider the full life cycle and the Legacy ones who may consider the full life cycle um are doing it in a very uh manual way that just to put it simply that nothing but a glorified big complicated spreadsheet right where you can track your assets and a modern system needs to one take a holistic view of that asset throughout its this entire life cycle from the moment you plan for for it to the moment you just dispose of that asset but also do it in an automated way to take uh much of the manual work out of the um a day-to-day activities and let that be uh workflow driven to be guided by the system so one you don't make any errors as users but also to to increase the accuracy of that data that's going into the system so now you're reporting becomes far more reliable far more actionable yeah that makes a lot of sense and then maybe just to double click on that what do we mean by physical business assets I gave a high level overview but is there anything you'd like to add to that when we're talking about a physical business asset you you bet so a physical business asset AKA Enterprise asset is really any asset that the business owns um and beyond your I.T assets that you are normally accustomed to uh these assets are often uh Revenue generating assets that are customer pacing assets that are in in some cases Mission critical assets and because of of these are the type of assets that we're concerned with it's really uh it's it's Paramount that you make sure that you you know what you have uh or where you have it so you can mitigate the risk that might be associated with these assets but also so you can optimize the operations of your business and you can do that by uh looking after the asset health so you can minimize this down it's downtime and therefore uh cause less disruption to your business but also these assets tend to be um uh of high value there's large Capital Investments associated with them so what you need to do is to maximize uh the useful life of that asset and therefore maximize the return on your investment in these assets these are the types of physical business assets that we are concerned with take that obviously couldn't have said it better myself yeah that sounds great and and that clearly opens up a lot of use cases um for you know regardless of geography or industry you know looking after those assets yeah and Brad I could give examples of that so if you're a retail customers it's all it's all your retail systems from your uh Point of Sales your cash registers your credit card machines your conveyor belts it could be your your appliances if you're a retail store your business runs on these assets and any disruption to these assets means it's lost up uh lost Revenue right uh so it's poor customer experience if you're a hospital and you and you have uh medical cards and ultra sound machines and MRI machines not only these are high value assets but patient care depends on them right so you want to make sure that they uh the the running at all times when they're needed uh if you're a factory uh everything from your robotic arms to your conveyor belts to your um your laser cutting machines your ovens your plastic extruders and all the connected systems uh your OT devices that run those manufacturing assets obviously if any of those go down if if you don't know what parts there need to be serviced and if you don't have enough of these parts available to you at uh the time that you need them your business can be disrupted and that's why em is is there to solve absolutely and we're going to jump into some of that here uh shortly but that thank you for that you know specification code it's really really awesome um I think we'll go ahead and move on to the next topic here um so when we're talking about positioning Enterprise Asset Management uh we'll kind of summarize what we just discussed here um so coled you know while we're letting everyone take a look at this is there anything you would like to point out you know as a way to help you know our participants and customers you know make the distinction between an Enterprise asset and a hardware asset in their environments and indeed to follow up on what we were talking about in terms of the asset types um not only that the acid types are different but the personas that are responsible for managing these assets tend to be uh different uh at our customers organizations and and hence why we do have two adjacent products yes they do have a lot of similarities they're built on the same uh Asset Management Foundation um from our platform but they are built with the Persona that's responsible for managing these assets in mind our workspace is designed for the specific Persona so the it assets are typically managed by an I.T asset manager that's part of the icam community um and non-it assets all the other assets that I just spoke to you about regardless of the industry that you're in uh there's the different personas that are responsible uh for them if you are a manufacturing a environment you it could be the the plant operation manager that rolls all the way up to the business unit head or the division head and or could be rolling up to the CEO if you're a hospital you're the biomedical engineering team the clinical engineering team that's responsible for the health of of these assets if you are in a retail environment uh obviously could be these store managers the operation managers again that roll up up to the uh Chief Operating Officer those are different not only different personas but they're tend to be different stakeholders and organizations within within the companies and and the products are designed to focus on what's important to that Persona from a day-to-day activity around optimizing the health of that asset moreover Enterprise assets uh from as you saw from 3 previous diagram we're concerned with the operating and the servicing and the main maintenance of these assets and Enterprise assets tend to have a much longer useful life from maybe 10 15 to even 20 years whereas I.T assets tend to have three to five year lifespan and because of that the Enterprise is going to live in that operating stage maybe 90 percent of its life and that's why maintaining that asset servicing it doing work on it repairing it swapping its parts is an important part to managing that asset and that's why we have a module that's designed and focused on that part of the asset life cycle where that's probably less relevant to an I.T asset so that yeah just to kind of highlight some of the differences in that workspace that we've designed for that persona absolutely and we're going to talk about that Workman management module here in a second um as we proceed to the next slide here um but yeah that's that that resonates you know when we're talking about Hardware assets from a general Viewpoint you know three to five years and then you go through that refresh cycle for that laptop but that's really not an option for some of these Capital assets especially manufacturing or facilities or medical environments where you know you want to use them for longer than that so uh yeah very well said coed um I think uh you know as we proceed ahead um we're going to look at a slide here shortly for uh you know when we're talking about the data foundation for Enterprise assets I think a high level thing to keep an eye on is the model and asset types for Enterprise assets um there's a lot more that we can double click into here but for the purposes of this um high level conversation they're simple which is essentially you know that one asset itself and then or model itself and then there's those multi-component models and assets where you have various uh you know parent and child relationships that make up uh that multi-component asset and then they can of course be pre-assembled or user assembled depending on the use case and um out of the box uh Enterprise asset management application supports a lot of its functionality before we get into that um Colette I'd like to get your take maybe on as our viewers are getting ready to start on their eam implementation Journeys what would you advise them to be on the lookout for to help them decipher what is trustworthy data or not so much of you know setting up those realistic and successful expectations depends on you know ensuring that we have the most trustworthy data what would you advise them to be on the lookout for yes so if an excellent question Brad so you know depending on uh what the customers and environment is like whether they have the connected or non-connected assets that may drive the sources for that uh trustworthy data right so if they if they do have connected assets obviously uh that is the should be the uh the first choice that we should be looking at we can bring all this data through uh the various Integrations that we have uh on our platform via the service graph connectors that can come in into the cmdb and then those assets can be then uh created from from that Source if they're non-connected assets uh obviously some of our customers what they have done is that they leverage the data that they have in in their existing systems today that some of those Legacy systems some may exist in spreadsheets um and they bring this data in into servicenow after they have reviewed it they've cleansed it and they've they've made sure that it is the right data but this is the time uh as you are building this foundational data into your asset management system is decide on how you want to represent your assets in in servicenow eem and and because uh we're concerned about not only tracking the the assets but also tracking about optimizing the health and operations of that asset as I spoke previously that we want to make sure that we we are servicing and maintaining that asset during this operating stage that means that you need to know what parts uh may exist in those assets because if you want to replace these parts you need to have visibility into into these parts and that's what we bring uh here is is the ability to model these Assets in various ways they could have multiple components they could have multiple tiers of components regardless of of of how that asset is constructed we allow you to model it so your assets can be now created based on these models these sources of Truth and they're two types that you can follow there's a pre-assembled a model type and that represents the how you receive the asset from the manufacturer from the vendor uh with the parts that might be that make up that asset so if it's an MRI machine it could be the MRI machine itself the uh the the bed the table pad uh that are used with that MRI machine if it's a uh it's an appliance in a retail store it's it's the condensers it's the the filters it's the the drain pans all the parts that need to be serviced and looked after that what would be considered a pre-assembled model that represents a pre-assembled asset but in in many other cases um you may build your own assets um uh based on assets that you receive from a variety of sources and manufacturers so think of that retail store uh example that I mentioned uh the point of sale where you have the cash registers from perhaps from NEC you have your credit card machines from Verizon you have the the scales from Toledo and you have your conveyor belts all these are assets that you acquire from various sources and you assemble as a kit and you provide them to your ship and pure stores that is what we call a user assembled uh assets and so we give you the flexibility to Define them as as it serves your use cases yeah that that's really exciting to know that um those type of use cases are being covered by our product and so as we go into the next slide we can perhaps look at that a little bit um this is you know just an example of you know when we're using Enterprise Asset Management uh to cover those multi-component model and asset use cases and you know allowing whatever the use case may be as cool I was just speaking to whether it's user assemble or pre-assembled to have that defined in the product and then as you um support that asset um throughout its life cycle you're going to have workflows behind that so you're going to be in a position to really increase your data accuracy for some of these more um complex Enterprise assets that are multi-component um and that's something that you know we're already seeing a lot of our you know as our customers are going live you know eam's been on this Street for about a half a year now this is one of the things that's really a game changer forum why would a customer want to dive into their assets and kind of drill down into their structure into their components and parts and the value that they'll be extracting from that uh is again linked to that outcome that I spoke with before it's about how do you minimize that that downtime how do you uh cause less disruption to the business if you have visibility um into your asset and how it's constructed or what parts of uh uh uh are inside it when a technician's gone out to service that asset he has that visibility into that asset so he knows what parts make up that asset uh he knows what parts he needs to Source prior to him arriving at that asset location to service it better yet he knows if that part for example is hot swappable and if it is he does not have to schedule that asset to go into maintenance mode and bring it down and again disrupt the business in this in this case it could be a planned disruption but nonetheless it is a disruption if he knows that part is hot swappable because we give him that visibility to know that he does not have to schedule that downtime similarly if he knows that part is not repairable he should not go and try to repair that asset without bringing apart in in hand and sourcing that ahead of time in order to repair that asset so all that it kind of gives great visibility into the community that's maintaining and servicing these assets so you can increase that uh uptime and cause less disruption to the business and that leads to the next slide here um when we talk about work management you're talking about you know the servicing of um you know our Enterprise assets and this is a new module that's coming out on the Utah release Utah I believe is GA the 22nd or 23rd of this month so days away and uh there's two key parts to this uh we'll we'll discuss this slide on the second slide I'm going to ask Claude another question on this but I'm talking about Work Management you know we're taking that data Foundation that we talked about and now we're really expanding it to the servicing the maintenance um the smart asset actions on those simple or more likely multi-component models and assets so if you're an Enterprise asset manager you're going to have the ability to set up these maintenance plans in the tool and tie them to all of the Assets in your environment and then be able to track that whether it's based on a duration or another type of trigger um to really increase that data um accuracy and integrity and then as we move to the next slide uh the other great thing about this work management uh module is when we're talking about part sourcing and asset actions um you know a key a stakeholder or participant really an Enterprise asset as a discipline are these technicians out there that may be referred to as field service technicians or just technicians the point is they're the they're the people on the ground that are maintaining these assets and so what this module brings to the Forefront is the ability for those technicians to work simultaneously with those Enterprise asset managers from the same sheet of music um and so if they're in a situation where they know that a part needs to be replaced or deployed or swapped they're going to have in real time the information they need to not only find what they're looking for but also to let that Enterprise asset manager know right away and I think collab this is a great time to maybe get your take on you know what exactly Workman management maybe you know level said anything I just mentioned and then what we're talking about here how does this compare to existing uh the acronym of cmms products so there might be some people that are familiar with that acronym and that terminology so maybe we could talk about how what we're talking about here compares to that yeah thanks Brad and and there's a bit to unpack in that question uh one I would like to highlight that this work management functionality that's available in eem um uh because we we pride ourselves at service now that we have a single data model uh every time that we bring new features to you they're they're built on that same data model that's available on our platform so in this case this work management functionality and EM is built on the same uh field service uh management of Maintenance planning and and work orders and tasks that you you have been uh accustomed to it is the same uh uh module if you will the same data models that the products are completely um uh integrated uh and they work well together out of the box um if you will but what what I was referencing uh earlier when we're talking about that cycle diagram that this was different about the service line that we are not a point solution and this is a great example of that that we are looking after the entire asset life cycle uh including the uh work activities that take place around it but we're maintaining that uh best practices around how you would manage an asset and in this example that Brad you were talking about how technician would would need to Source a part and how he would use that we followed the same uh Asset Management best practices that found in em and our other uh Asset Management products so when a technician needs a part one we give them visibility to the fact that he needs Parts because we know what parts are in the uh assets and two when he needs that part we'll enable him to request it and then enable the asset manager to make this the best decision on how to source that part every time a technician needs a part does not mean that we need to go out and procure it new we could have it available in a nearby stock room and if it's not a nearby stock group it could be in another stockroom where we can transfer it and initiate a transfer workflow at the end of the day we provide that technician uh with the uh with with that asset provide them with within the automated task go pick up that that uh that part or parts that that he needs moreover we give them an overview of all the work he has to do not specific to a single work order but all the work orders are coming up uh for his day for his week and Beyond and he can prepare and plan and order these parts in a very uh uh systematic way following Asset Management best practices now with respect to the second part of your question Brad is you know uh what do customers call it a cmms eem all these names are for many of our customers are synonymous right um uh probably the only distinction that maybe when CMS is used some customers are thinking about it in a very narrow way that they're only thinking about servicing that that asset maintaining that asset they're not considering that full life cycle uh and the other Asset Management best practices that we're speaking about so in in in some contexts eem Enterprise asset management is a more encompassing uh term and a more encompassing product category than cmms but I do understand that some customers use those um interchangeably great definition thank you for providing some clarity on that Collide and you know it just is the key takeaways we keep moving along here um you know with with eam we're really offering that whole um life cycle um support um so it's not just a matter of servicing it the matter of also having that foundational data as well uh across the life cycle of that asset um I know that there's probably some questions I want to maximize our time here you know having this great conversation with co-ed so we've left time at the end for Q a so um if questions come to mind feel free to type them in there and uh you know we'll do what we can to answer all of them but uh let's go ahead and talk about um the process driven approach here uh we'll start with stakeholder management I think this is something that regardless of what you're implementing whether in this case it's Enterprise asset management or stakeholders it's a key thing to keep an eye on and as we come to the next slide here this goes back to what we're talking about a little bit earlier when we're talking about some of those key personas for Enterprise Asset Management you can see on the left hand side these are the people that are commonly involved and then you know we've got other stakeholders that depending perhaps on your geography or your industry uh some of these people may be involved or some of the other ones may not um so you know I think Colette maybe this could be a goal a good time as the kind of shifts we've been talking a lot about data more of the kind of technology stuff as we shift to you know people in process considerations for you know setting up for Success um what would you advise on ID and stakeholders in an organization um we'll start there like you know what would you advise our regardless of Industry of geography um our audience to keep an eye out for as they're trying to ID those stakeholders and then indeed and um when we're talking about eem uh earlier and maybe how it's it's different than a hardware asset management the stakeholders indeed are different right because uh many of these assets are business assets and the business owners the business unit has the division heads the uh operations has had vested interest in the uh not only in the successful deployment of em but also they have a vested interest in that these assets are are running uh efficiently and and they're and they're up when they need to be right so engaging those uh personas um uh that roll up into into these uh stakeholders uh would be of Paramount importance uh during uh deployment and implementation of eam um moreover not only because these are business assets and they involve some of the business functions but also since em is looking after the full life cycle of the asset right we're concerned about uh uh how you procure these assets and potentially how you would integrate uh eem with your existing uh procurement systems your procurement system of record where there's the saps the oracles the arrivas the Koopas of the world so engaging with with those stakeholders and procurement department is is very relevant and it could provide Great Value to you so your users can have a single pane of glass within em when it comes to their assets and how they can request the procurement of these assets and how then that procurement can uh continue uh in in that system and come back to em through that bi-directional integration so engaging with finance and procurement would be of great importance and similarly many of these assets need to are used by users who have workspaces associated with them so any when we integrate em with four mapping Technologies and and where are the assets are located uh HR have also has a vested interest in participating in that because or perhaps the facilities Department that's in charge of running your facilities it needs to be engaged so you can have better planning on how you define the locations or the location hierarchy that's associated with these assets so these are really just some examples of some of the personas that you need to engage with right risk is is another one these Enterprise assets because your business does run on them and the risk of any risk of failure of that asset may have an impact on the business right you want to consider assessing that risk so you need to talk to any of the personas uh within your organization that are responsible for not only assessing your risk but but mitigating that risk and they have a vested interest in how em is is deployed successfully absolutely and um just to summarize this slide before we move on to Partners I think that's where you know the criticality of executive sponsorship comes in it's just when we're talking about Enterprise assets there's so many stakeholders that have a stake in that game and so the more that we can get that alignment organizationally for everyone to understand that this is really gonna benefit their own uh unique departmental organizational needs and then also you know the wider Enterprise as a whole uh that's going to help everyone steer through this towards that common goal um so that's that's really great Insight Collide um why don't we go ahead and go to the next slide uh when we're talking about Partners so we always encourage everyone on their implementation journey to you know work with a partner we recognize that there may be reasons why that isn't possible um but we do encourage it and from a high level uh when we're talking about Partners um you know you've got those technical partners that are going to be perhaps a bit more focused and more of expertise and you know Implement implementing the product and then you have those Partners they're going to be a bit more strategic you know a bit more people process focused of course there's partners that do both um or do some of one and one of the other uh it runs the gamut and so that's why we wanted to talk about this because co-ed you know based on a customer's own unique needs in their environment I mean they may have people internally that check off some of these boxes um what would you advise you know for a way for someone who's in charge of an eam implementation uh to understand what type of Partners need for them yeah that's a question Brad so no many of our customers are uh highly technical highly capable of of implementing Solutions on our platform and uh that that I think will always be the case but in in many cases right our partners are super valuable right to the planning uh for an em implementation and for these the successful outcome of that implementation because they really bring in that deep knowledge not only about our product because we have trained them on it but also deep knowledge more broadly around the platform uh as a whole you know they bring that strategic Insight um that they would the subject matter expertise that where they can align uh business outcomes with the solution that that they're implementing essentially you know they're integrating product with process but also they they bring in their operational knowledge around uh governance models around training they've been through this many times so they can leverage their their lessons learned create training materials right so they can do in training in-person training sessions they can create knowledge articles that can really augment the deployment of em and and bring this knowledge forward beyond the immediate of uh users of em but to The Wider uh stakeholders uh within your organization right yeah and then as you go through that deployment they can bring in that functional experience where you can they can help you move up that maturity scale right from the basic tracking the foundational tracking of your assets to how you would automate that how you can leverage more of our out of the box workflows to drive that uh efficiency that accuracy in how you manage uh your assets and all that is really aligned with the uh outcomes that you have initially signed up for and then they make sure that there's great alignment between this strategic operational functional uh uh side to the outcomes whether you need to optimize the operations reduce your costs both your ongoing expenses around repair service and maintaining these assets but also around reducing Capital expenditures by maximizing the user useful life of your assets and you know not to include the minimizing downtime and disruption to their business sounds good yeah no I appreciate you providing some um some insights on that Collide and uh as you said you know all of our customers out there we know that you have a lot of expertise in this um our partners can really help you know take that to the next level especially you know when you're talking you know about some of these strategic considerations and ensuring that you know you're getting the most value out of your Enterprise Asset Management Journey um I think we're going to go ahead and move on to the next slide here we're only a couple minutes behind schedule which is amazing um so this is the last part here and then we'll get into the Q a uh what we want to do is just spend some time talking about you know what regardless of your industry or geography what you can do as a user of Enterprise Asset Management to plan your own internal roadmap for your own journey and then you know setting those successful expectations as we move on to the next slide we've got some um pretty cool uh high-level value claims here uh in a line with some of these strategic initiatives there are many more for eam as well and as we continue on our own Collective Journey a lot of this is going to really focus on things like work management and things like that but in terms of getting started you know these are four that can really help you prioritize how to make eam a strategic priority and then you know Colette as we wrap up uh the descriptive part of this discussion before we get in the Q a um I was wondering if maybe if you had any high level advice um for customers on how they can fit their own internal roadmap you know we talked about data foundations we talked about you know how to interact with Partners how to interact with your stakeholders now put that together a little bit where would you advise you know a customer that might quite simply say where do I start yeah so I think I would relate it to this kind of uh uh asset maturity uh model uh you know crawl walk run um so to speak right really the first step is the foundational stuff that we spoke about earlier just make sure not only you bring your assets into service now but you're modeling them properly making sure that you're taking advantage of the uh enhanced functionality that we have available to you in the EM around managing uh complex multi-component multi-tier assets because then you can begin to extract that value As you move into the second level of maturity and you bring the uh Automation in the form of the out-of-the-box workflows that we make available to you and how you um uh work with these assets so that would be the second uh level if you will is how do you begin to automate the operations of these uh throughout their life cycle and and thirdly is them as as you matured into that is how do you then begin to look after your cost structure of these assets how you look at your total cost of of ownership so not only you you know how much money you spent on the uh assets initially through the capital expenditures but also all the expenses that you have accumulated throughout the life cycle of that asset so you can begin look at the total cost of ownership and and Benchmark it against uh any baselines that you have established and decide when should you stop servicing and maintaining that asset when should you stop sending technicians to work on that ass and perhaps now it should be a good candidate for refresh right these are the the uh I would align uh all of that along these kind of crawl walk run uh model yeah absolutely and that's something uh for everyone on the call if you want to delve a little further into that you know recount in the community um we can provide some more resources on that crawl run walk but from a high level uh it's definitely always a great practice to start with your data you know everyone wants it I know I you know want to get to uh you know the outcomes that I have planned for myself and you know of my organization um as quickly as possible but we always want to make sure we don't put that cart for the horse and start with um you know the building blocks which is that data and that's of super importance in any Asset Management discipline and then you know when we're talking about Enterprise assets and the multi-component nature of a lot of them um it's especially important uh I think uh one last question here Colette before we get to the Q a and so um we'll get to that here in a second but when you're talking about I'm glad these things we talked about and customers making uh their own internal roadmap you know how would you advise them on how to align with the various parties involved so decades stakeholders Partners any any uh you know anecdotal feedback you provide on what you found uh would be good practices regardless of industry or geography foreign yes so I think many of the customers are going through that implementation right now uh you know they they started with that goal setting right in in mind and they've had that road map of what they want to do in their first phase second phase and and so on so really uh is what's important is to make sure after every phase you go back and and and and revisit your goals and and and discuss that with the stakeholders to make sure that they are seeing that uh business outcome that you have established and and and by doing that I think you would get uh uh more momentum more resources to go into the into the subsequent phases in in this deployment because now your stakeholders are seeing those business outcomes as you are delivering them uh to them that's a great note to end on with um the the plan part of this presentation uh the next part is of course plan but it's going to be dictated by your questions and so I've got these questions opened here um if you if you have one uh just be sure to put it in the Q a section um I know that there's two sections in Zoom there's the the chat and then there's the Q a so if you have a question uh feel free to pop in that q a so I've got these pulled up here Claude I'm going to answer the uh this one here we got a question about um eam unique in that it's delivered as a store app rather than a standard uh package that's correct um eam is a store application so the way that all of our customers are able to obtain eam is of course they'll obviously um work with their you know our sales teams to then you know Define what the the correct number of eam licenses for them and then once that's settled they're going to go to the store and download the eam application um so that that's you know how we as serviced now are are finding ways to you know continually Drive our Innovation and make it as easily accessible as possible so eam is indeed a store app um another question we got here and Colette I might call you in on this one here uh for work uh will the workflow configuration and sign excuse me will the workflow configuration an assigned group be controlled by the asset and or location also using the mapping feature yeah so um uh I read that question and I'm going okay I'm going to uh interpret it and and speak out loud my interpretation of it so sure if you're speaking to if uh Lillian if you're speaking to the uh uh integration with floor Maps um and that's what the question is about then the answer is is yes right your your floor Maps will uh will have will be part of a location hierarchy campus Building floor and then places within within these floors whether they're rooms and offices and cubicles or if you're on a manufacturing an environment it could be the the cells within that many manufacturing floor regardless of that location hierarchy that it will be uh this now will all the workflows that are available out of the box will understand that location hierarchy and they will take advantage of it so when a user is submitting a request for a new asset not only they're submitting that request for an asset but they will be able to specify specifically that location um uh that where that asset needs to be deployed and that task from that workflow will will be aware of that I will take advantage of that location on the map and then that location hierarchy and and that will apply to all other workflows as well right that's a big part of our upcoming Vancouver release when we integrate with the floor Maps awesome another question here that Khaled accused to get your thoughts on uh resources for integrating with third-party systems for procurement we got a question about that yes so there are multiple integration and methods with procurement systems whether it's sap ariva Koopa and and others there's integration uh um spokes in in our integration Hub and also there's a uh uh there are other integration methods available on the store in the form of connector uh apps so depending on which procurement system you use there is an integration uh tool for that and and many of our customers have done that so you you can have uh buy even bi-directional integration between servicenow and your procurement system of record awesome another question we see here uh how would you implement eam in an on-premise instance so I I you know obviously the majority of our customers are are using our cloud services you know cloud-based instances but there are some customers out there for you know various reasons uh they may have an on-premise instance so Colette could you maybe speak to how eam would or would not be able to be used in those use cases yeah so I would say that em uh uh is designed to be installed on-prem if that's what the customer requirement is as as for many of our federal uh uh uh you know customers uh do that and and in certain cases so em can be installed on-prem and we could uh you can connect with us so we can walk you through how that can be done and how more important how it can be supported as well awesome uh while we still got some time here before we wrap up I do want to mention that there's going to be some eam sessions at k23 so k23 of course knowledge 23 uh in person this year we're really excited about it obviously it's been remote for the past few years uh we're back in Vegas we've got some sessions lined up uh for those of you that are playing to 10 or you know that attend um definitely if you haven't already go and register um and then once you do that you'll be able to see the complete listing of schedule events um and we've got some great eam events there um you know hope it would be great chance to connect with people that are on their EA implementation Journey but then of course uh with some of our early adopters I mean you all on this call are really adopters as well but shall we say the first wave of early adopters um that are uh you know out there uh you know Finding you know a lot of success with this product and it's a chance for us to really connect with you um and get your feedback on how we can make it better I mean we have no interest in and uh you know sticking with what we got we want to continue to uh stay hungry and humble and continue to expand on the product and um that's going to be covered in our roadmap session a couple weeks from now so if you're if you're wanting to have a deep dive a bit more into like well okay we've talked about people in the process and and setting up expectations on this call but we want to also know you know show me what you got coming up here next service now that's going to be the forum for you so we're really excited about that and you're going to be able to hear about that in the community um Colette you know as we wrap up here is there anything you'd like to add that maybe I didn't ask you about or uh something to just double click on maybe I'll give you a 30 second commercial but uh em on our platform um is is real and customers are already deploying it and using it and and they're happy with the outcomes that they have uh gotten from it and I saw one of the comments on the chat already we've got one of our customers uh attesting to that so we would love to have more conversations with you as to how we can share some of those successes and and bring them to your organization as well so I think there's a lot of uh outcomes that can be achieved by deploying uh a process driven workflow driven approach to your asset management absolutely and as we wrap up here one more thing that I'll mention is you know another great thing about um the various forms that we have obviously we love to see you in person at knowledge you know that may not be feasible for everyone um definitely a great place to meet Partners um and other practitioners so that you can get that informal advice and then if it makes sense to make that more formal you're going to be able to establish those relationships uh with that said you know I want to be mindful everyone's time here we're we're just about at the top of the hour um we just kind of you know as a takeaway here for how you can continue to set yourself up for Success um if you haven't been to now learning there's a whole bunch of training on there um so definitely encourage you to take a look at that um our product doc site that you know it's certainly not designed to be training resource per se but a lot of those um articles do have prescriptive steps on how to complete action so you know between that and um the training you will be able to you know definitely enhance your knowledge as well and then you know in terms of you know how to really take that to the next level is uh developing those business outcomes and developing that EMA roadmap uh establishing those relationships with implementation partners that work for you everyone's use cases are going to be unique it's all about finding those partners that are going to work for you so as we discussed they're really going to help you with um you know making EA and strategic um and you know as you get up to speed on your understanding of the am and what the product can do for you those partners are really going to help enact that vision for you and then I encourage you to bookmark the search that Community page for eam resources and live events of which this will be posted so if you've got colleagues
