Content Lookup Portal for ServiceNow Hardware Asset Management (HAM) | Now Platform® Tokyo
foreign I am a senior technical architect with glide fast Consulting and today I am going to demonstrate new hardware Asset Management features in Tokyo specifically those in the content lookup portal area of the hardware asset workspace this is a major new feature that allows AI powered searching for models and manufacturers enabling easier access to Content Library data the content lookup portal enables you to search for Hardware products or model numbers and to view the entire list of Hardware products and model numbers in the content service if you haven't already be sure to install the Content Library portal plugin SN underscore item underscore c-o-n-t lookup to enable the content lookup portal feature to start I have opened the hardware asset workspace which was introduced with San Diego and has servicenow's new easy to use user interface next I navigate to the content lookup area which is indicated by the Macintosh looking icon we see that the workspace contains a search box near the top and underneath that it shows when the Content Library will be updated next by default the Content Library is updated weekly by the download Hardware content product and the download Hardware content product models scheduled jobs near the bottom of the page we see tiles to view all Hardware products and all Hardware model numbers let's look at those tiles first the hardware products tile will show all products that have been downloaded from the Content Library we see here that over 81 000 products have been downloaded the hardware model numbers tile will show all models that have been downloaded from the Content Library we see here that over 3 million product models have been downloaded clearly there are a lot of products and models in the library so an easy to use search is helpful in finding the items that you are interested in let's try a very general search for a desktop computer we see a list of all software and Hardware items displayed since we are focused on ham for this demo I'm going to select the hardware content tab here we see a mix of desktop computer vendors device types and models I can then filter on these for example to show those that are from Hewlett Packard and where the device type is the desktop itself selecting the first one in the list we can see that for the 251 desktop PC there are 79 Associated models again selecting the first one in the list we can see that for the model 251-01a0 desktop General availability began on July 17 2015. and that there are no other life cycle dates listed like end of sale or end of life let's now try a more specific search criteria for Dell notebook we see a list of all Dell notebooks that were found if I filter out accessories and keyboards we see just the notebooks themselves selecting the Dell Latitude 7000 series product and then selecting the first model in the list we see that for the 73 7D model that General availability began on January 6 2016. thank you for watching this demo of new hardware Asset Management features in Tokyo specifically those in the content lookup area of the hardware asset workspace [Music]
