What Is a ServiceNow Fabric Table? | WDF Series (Episode 3)

ServiceNow Dev Program · Oct 23, 2026 · video

A fabric table is the part of Zero Copy concept in Workflow Data Fabric. It shows up in Table Explorer like any other table, you can run GlideRecord against it, call it from the REST Table API, point a workflow or an agent at it. Fabric table is projection of an external data object. The process is simple: A data steward sets up a fabric table through a Zero Copy Connector. The metadata collector scans the external schema, then you map those external columns onto ServiceNow field types, pick a primary key, and name the table. Then a query runs against it. The Zero Copy engine translates the request, goes to the source system, and brings the results back to whatever asked. No data copied! Karteek and Sujan walk through how the setup works and why the table stays at zero rows.
