ServiceNow Scripted REST APIs (2026): 11 – Table settings

Secretary of Simplification · Aug 12, 2026 · video

Our Vehicle table currently has two ways in – the API we're building in this series, and the Table API that ships with every ServiceNow instance. In this video we close that second door, so the Vehicles API becomes the only route to our data. This is the first video in the security module. *You'll learn:* - Why the baseline Table API is a problem for a table you're exposing through your own scripted API - How to disable web service access on a table, and why the change doesn't apply until you flush the cache - Why this module moves its testing from the REST API Explorer to Postman *Chapters:* - 0:00 Introduction - 0:40 Concept - 1:35 Demo - 2:50 A note on testing - 4:04 Outro *GitHub:* https://github.com/jnichols-servicenow/SN2026-Vehicles-API *Links:* - ServiceNow docs – Table API – https://www.servicenow.com/docs/r/api-reference/rest-apis/c\_TableAPI.html - ServiceNow docs – Application access settings – https://www.servicenow.com/docs/r/application-development/c\_ApplicationAccessSettings.html - Postman – https://www.postman.com/ *Series navigation:* - Previous: 10 – Versioning - Next: 12 – Web Service ACLs - Full playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrhqGp3sUzhvp1sfgP8OZjXRxKOP\_cyBU
