hi everyone my name is Evans Nicholson I'm from the products and solutions marketing team here at servicenow and today I'm going to talk to you about servicenow AI Ops but first I'll answer that question then about at least some of you have what are you talking about what do you mean AI Ops it's a good question AI Ops which stands for artificial intelligence for operations is the practice of using the principles of AI to assist and help automate the work of today's it operations teams it teams can solve issues faster with AI Ops tools that's the bottom line but they can also increase performance and reliability and this Cuts back on budget burn rates and helps avoid costly system outages lowering budget burn rates and cost avoidance have long been top priorities for it the servicenow's AI Ops solution helps in this area and allows teams to move away from fighting unplanned outages and being more Innovative move towards being more Innovative and being that trusted technical advisor to the business now it's still a little fuzzy probably for some of you so in a minute I'm going to show you exactly what we do here at servicenow with AI Ops but first let's talk about something that we're all probably familiar with by now flight delays now I have nothing against the airline industry first of all I just want to throw that out there but the last time I flew out of San Jose my flight was delayed by two hours I get to the airport it's delayed I'm thinking there's a lot of reasons why this this could be happening could be weather in and around SJC the weather's usually pretty good it wasn't weather turns out my plane wasn't even there no airplane so yeah you can't get on an airplane it's not there a lot of reasons why my airplane wasn't there at the airport could be a lot of reasons could have run out of gas could have run out of gas it didn't it could have been crashed on a deserted desert island with a volleyball but it wasn't it turns out it was equipment failure there's a problem with the plane and to be honest I'm glad they fixed it before I got on it so because my plane and my flight crew for that matter are stuck at this airport my flight is now delayed not only my flight but I was supposed to fly to Chicago that flight is also delayed so you can see there's a domino effect when things go wrong so let's look at this through an IT lens let's say there's a service outage at your company it's a mission critical service you need to get it back up as quickly as possible it's an emergency it could be a lot of reasons why the service is out could be DNS domain name service turns out it's not that that checks out and remember this list could be very wide there could be a lot of things a lot of paths to go down could be very complicated now in this in this case we found out the disk was full it could be a lot of reasons why the disk filled up could be that scheduled task didn't run but it turns out the SQL team left on Trace logging to troubleshoot their database which makes sense but that caused the disk to fill and cause the service to be out think about how much time and how many people you need to throw at this problem and it needs to be done quickly right so that's where we need help that's where we need AI Ops today's it operations teams need to utilize data science models and workflows and they also need to work towards utilizing more informed and intelligent automation using AI fundamentals like machine learning pattern recognition and continuous Improvement servicenow's AI op solution helps in this way and so let me show you exactly how we do that Amelia Bryant who's on the operations team is troubleshooting an issue with a mission critical service thanks to itom event management which uses AI to group alerts from many different sources together she can troubleshoot as one issue and not 13 different ones like in this case itom's health log analytics uses machine learning to help Define patterns and identify anomalies by parsing logs logs are a great predictor of events to come and in this example you can see this HLA alert was received well before the other issues started to arise and digging into this HLA alert Amelia sees that there's a 358 percent increase in logs associated with SQL DB scrolling down we can see that HLA has parsed out the content of these logs and is showing a large percentage is Trace data the ability to view log data in This Way saves a ton of time and also helps reduce human error this helps Emilia and team speed up time to resolution this is a great example of AI Ops and here we see Amelia is focusing in on a group alert which is related to Payment Processing a service that is stopped scrolling down we can see the probable root causes section and thanks to service mapping we understand the cause and effect relationships between different configuration items the probable root causes section uses some AI to determine any recent changes to configuration items that may have caused unintended consequences well I hope you enjoyed this brief demo and brief explanation of servicenow AI Ops for more information check out the AI Ops product page and for more longer demos check out the demo now section of our website at this address thanks very much and I hope to talk to you soon
