Export to PowerPoint from Application Portfolio Management
[Music] foreign [Music] it's Justin thank you for watching and welcome to my house that's Justin's house in this video I'm going to demonstrate the New Tokyo feature for application portfolio management to export your APM data to PowerPoint that's right PowerPoint so if you need to take some of that helpful information you're gathering on your business capabilities your business applications your application landscape and present that in some format to your team to your organization we now have the ability to export that to PowerPoint and it's not just an export of images it's actual export of data so you'll get you'll be able to get in there look at the charts and look at the data sets behind them so let's jump into it let me show you what's going on so you can see it first let's talk about the report types so I've got a PowerPoint report type for APM we'll cover the other ones in a different video but let's go ahead and pull up that APM report and you'll see it's got some no related tables for this one but it's got some scripted elements so basically there's some scripts pulling in and you can't see it because it's behind my head pulling in these various bar charts so these are bar chart Graphics that are there for application portfolio by app family category install type platform technology stack and that's just what's out of the box so obviously if I was in the right application scope I could come in here and copy this particular template and configure it to my heart's content but I want to actually show you how this works so I'm going to use this export to a PowerPoint for APM all I did in my menu is search for PowerPoint and now to get this to work I had to install a plugin upload a manifest to Office 365 to get my templates there but that's all in the documentation so let's go ahead and select that APM report click download and that'll start the download for me so I can open that PowerPoint file locally now you'll see here I actually have one for another attempt at doing this video notice they're coming through with no file extensions I haven't troubleshooted this yet it's not happening the other export capabilities but that's okay I've got PowerPoint over here on my other screen so I'm going to go ahead and pull that up and it's initially going to load with this little yellow Banner because it's Microsoft PowerPoint and they're doing a security check to make sure it's safe to actually have on your computer so while that's doing that I'll just take you on a tour of what this looks like we got a title page we've got a section page for the application landscape there's those bar charts that we were looking for so I can click on portfolio by platform by technology stack by category by application family here I've got install type and platform I've got another section for capabilities landscape if you're not familiar with APM this is about what your business capabilities are and how you're meeting those with your different applications there's my capabilities by the number of Assessments that have been done so helpful information that you may need to communicate to the business but let's take a look at this application portfolio by category I'm going to click I don't know yeah you can see it on my screen this enable editing button and PowerPoint so that I have the ability to see what's going on now remember I said we had the ability for a long time to create a report and then save that report as a picture into and copy and paste it or insert it into PowerPoint that's not what's going on here if I click on this this is a chart in PowerPoint so we've got data behind this and I can come in and do something like filter maybe to change what's showing on this so maybe before I present this I might want to go change something or select different data change the values change the names and maybe we want to turn off empty so it doesn't show that Big Empty bar at the beginning so it's not just an image it's actual data that you can use in PowerPoint to kind of tailor this to what's business appropriate not necessarily what an Enterprise architect's going to be doing in application portfolio management so that's it that's the new export to PowerPoint feature for application portfolio management I hope you found this video helpful if you did please like Please Subscribe or share it with somebody who you think is interested in presenting all of their hard work and servicenow and a nice PowerPoint friendly format to the organization and to their Executives until next time don't forget to always be learning [Music] thank you [Music]
