ServiceNow Mobile Platform - Tokyo Overview

Import · Oct 19, 2022 · video

all right let's get started hello everyone and welcome to the what's new for mobile Tokyo webinar my name is David ha and I'm an outbound product manager here at servicenow and today we'll be covering a quick overview of all the things new to Mobile in Tokyo and I'll do a deep dive on some of the new features here um and then for the folks just do stick around to the end we've all open up to some q a um and answer any questions that do come up along with okay but to dive into this um I'm going to walk you through our three primary initiatives that we're focusing on in Tokyo first is our initiative to build a best-in-class field service management experience for our agents and fulfillers and with that you have our mobile offline improvements starting in Tokyo we've enhanced offlines so that agents can now create update and V record changes without actually having to sync online and then going into offline mode um uh to give some background in context in previous releases you know any crate or update changes made in to records and offline mode they wouldn't really show up until you got reconnected to the internet and then synced your updates to see those changes being made and so this enhancement actually allows agents to be able to see their record updates in real time as they're working in offline mode right so this is going to be another step into building a more seamless offline experience for our agents and fulfilliers okay we've also drastically improved the mapping experience for agents um we now offer a new map look and feel so it's much easier for agents to be able to navigate between their work sites and also have geographical context around all their work sites we've made it so that you know with the top of the button you can actually pull up all the worksites that you need to visit on a single screen um and you know you can also be able to quickly navigate to those work sites from your current location so just lots of improvements made to improve that mapping experience for agents there's also been some usability enhancements so that our agents can get work done faster starting in Tokyo agents will now be able to upload multiple attachments files or images to their activity stream media files as well and in addition you can actually upload these files while the app is in the background that way you know if some of your uploads are taking a bit too long you don't have to wait around to let it finish before moving on to your next task you know so as an Asian out in the field you know I can quickly take a bunch of photos of my work site upload them simultaneously and then you know put my phone away if I need to get that next thing done and we've also improved our error handling experience for failed uploads so you can see here that no there's a more comprehensive screen that gives Asus their file details before upload such as a preview the file type the size as well as the upload progress and so we're giving agents a much more user-friendly experience to understand why their uploads might have failed and then how to resolve those issues on the next re-upload you know before you would kind of just get some sort of CIS ID string and so it's going to be a much better experience okay input form screens um so in Tokyo we've introduced some enhancements that allow some of our business unit counterparts to be able to build out out of the box better out of the box workflows there's now a submit and stay capability on input form screens and what that means is that when a user executes an action it will allow the user to stay on that same screen and continue executing that action as many times as they would like the primary use case for this uh really is for the field service mobile app um you know this will allow agents to quickly scan assets or QR codes without having to leave that submission form that way you're not repeating the steps of reopening that form over and over um this will allow agents to quickly scan that asset um and it's going to be a much more seamless experience to submit several assets at the same time okay we've also introduced a new input type that allows you to execute a function on multiple records at a time as well on the field server side using an example um you know maybe you want to be able to select multiple Parts on a list before you submit or if you wanted the ability to you know assign multiple incidents or a tasks to agent using a single action that is now possible with this new enhancement or maybe even approving all of your approvals that you have that is totally possible okay and then lastly we've also enhanced the search functionality on input form screens by introducing a new search type attribute that supports reference type fields that way it will quickly pull up results without having the users pull down through a large table of values and you can also apply UI rules to those reference references and Screen inputs as well okay moving on to our second initiative around mobile infrastructure as well as tooling enhancements first is you have mobile app builder version 21.3 we've now reached a point where mobile app builder has met feature parity with the now platform up until Rome so what this means is anything that I can configure on the platform UI that's related to mobile can all be done inside of mobile app builder the only configurations that we haven't included in mobile app builder are the New Tokyo features that were just released however all other platform configurations such as push notifications deep links all that is now configurable inside the Builder you know so now um as an admin or a developer you can now start building confidence using mobile app builder moving forward all your core capabilities are there all on a single interface for you so that you don't have to jump between different tools for your configurations and different screens right uh Mobile card Builder uh We've really small card Builder version 21.5 and this introduces configuration support for new icons and video elements as well as additional options for image and container configurations so being able to do things like upload a custom image or adding icon decorators to your cart those are all now possible lots of more options to personalize your cards moving forward there's also been an enhancement for typography Auto scaling and what that means is that you don't actually have to configure the font size on your cards anymore the sizing will actually automatically scale depending on the user's settings on their device and so if you want small text it's going to be dependent on the the user's device if you want medium text normal text large tax so forth okay um mobile notification badging um we've drastically improved the mobile badging account experience for push notifications the first thing to note here is that the unread messages from virtual agent will now be included in that new batch count second is that there's going to be a much more consistent badge count experience across all user devices um notification counts on badges will now be tracked per user and it won't actually accumulate just because you have multiple devices logged into the same account which was the previous experience the intended experience moving forward is that if you're connected to a servicenow instance using multiple devices all of those devices should show the same uh batch count right so you know if I'm logged in if I'm logged in into both an iPad and my iPhone I should see you know three notifications if I have three on both those devices and then lastly unread notifications will now persist even when uh users log out of their mobile app we've had a lot of customers share with their stat you know there are times when users um get logged out because uh their tokens expire or maybe you know they didn't get a chance to actually see their notifications before they disappeared and so we've updated this so that they'll actually persist it is uh if a notification hasn't been read yet um they will not be cleared from your notification inbox even when you log out it's not until you actually swipe all the notification clear or that or you indicate that you've read it somehow that they'll finally disappear from your notification box so a drastic improvement for um uh mobile notifications okay adaptive authentication Mobile support for adaptive authentication is big one here for security um we're now supporting employee mobile access for IP restricted environments there are some customers who have security requirements in place that use IP access control and they were not able to use our apps there are some customers who have um you know they would require their users to install a VPN application and then they would have to configure the device to be within a specific IP range in order for those users to log into their instances and so you would have a user that would have both a VPN and a servicenow mobile app downloaded both downloaded on the device um but users who are connected to VPN would actually not be able to access their instance but in Tokyo we're now allowing users to access an IP restricted instance through adaptive authentication this will actually allow the platform admin to configure their IP restrictions uh in their environment and most importantly you know as that end user they'll be able to log into their instance without having to configure an additional VPN on their device okay if you want more information on a depth of Kit authentication definitely reach out to your platform security team foreign and then our last initiative is around the work that we've done to support our out-of-the-box app experiences um map wise integration there are platform features that we've built out to support the workplace service deliveries uh mobile workflows for indoor refining and asset reservation we've integrated with a new service called map Wise It's a new mapping provider that was acquired by servicenow last year and this will provide indoor mapping capabilities for employees to be able to reserve seats conference rooms workspaces and related workplace resources as well as the ability to navigate offices or campuses and with mobile we made sure that this map wise workflow can be supported natively as an out-of-the-box app um and also switching to this new map wise service it's actually going to allow workplace teams in the future to be able to better handle managing updating their floor mappings uh based on the usage transient uh evolving real estate needs in the future okay and then lastly you also have some mobile enhancements to better support a virtual agent you can see that we're now supporting file upload and the live Asian chat um we're also introducing a display with countdown when users are being routed to a live agent in the virtual agent chat launcher um and we're also giving users the ability to open up the geolocation of their place in their native mobile app I think before in Virtual Asian it would just spit up some sort of sys ID value and that just wasn't very valuable um so actually being able to get the geolocation um and then lastly admins can now configure different menu options for their text and links in that virtual Asian chat launcher okay but that pretty much wraps up our mobile highlights for Tokyo uh and if you do have any other further questions uh feel free to post them on the servicenow community site and we'll definitely follow up from there as well thank you all for joining us in our mobile platform um what's new for Mobile in Tokyo I hope you found this session helpful and informative and if you have any questions as you go through your mobile limitations in Tokyo feel free to reach out to your account team and send us questions on the mobile community site
