When developing a low code application you need tools that work cohesively and provide contextual relevance so that nothing breaks your creative flow the Tokyo release enhancements to app engine Studio are focused on just that providing you a new way to transition between your data forms and automation with ease and contextual awareness we've also introduced an awesome new capability that will make working with your data models even easier let's join Josh a citizen developer working through revision to one of his low code apps Josh used to handle all Machinery work orders using spreadsheets but now with low code app built using App engine Studio he uses an automated and integrated custom application instead table Builder lets him continue working with his underlying data in a manner that is as easy as it was with a spreadsheet now that Josh is leveraging servicenow's Tokyo release he can even incorporate calculated Fields using the all-new formula Builder this handy capability lets Josh add anything from simple to complex calculations right in his data model so that his Automation and end user experiences have access to all the specific data points they require let's take a simple example where he wants a dedicated field for total cost that simply sums the labor and parts costs all he must do is add a formula to the field type in sum and formula Builder guides them through the process of adding his desired Fields with auto-populated suggestions he wants a more sophisticated formula for total fee this one uses similar logic but applies a multiplier if a rush order is specified this can be accomplished easily using nested logic within formula Builder by using an if statement The Logical test and then a nested formula for each potential outcome if the rush flag evaluates to true he'll use a multiplication operation along with the sum function we saw earlier if it's not a rush order the standard sum of Labor fee and parts fee will be used while implementing his formulas he has a flash of inspiration for a new bit of automation that will send him a notification anytime a rush order is submitted using the latest table Builder feature set from the Tokyo release Josh can simply flip over to flows without leaving his data tab this view shows all automations pertaining to the table in question and allows Josh to not only work with those automations but easily create new automations using his OpenTable as the trigger these new table Builder features will help more people take advantage of servicenow's powerful data model and intuitively create data forms and Automation in a natural efficient way
