Whats New in the Tokyo CMDB, CSDM and Service Graph Connectors
hi welcome to the session today we're going to be talking about what's new in the Tokyo release of the cmdb cstm and service graph connectors I'm Mark bodman senior product manager here at servicenow for today's agenda we're going to be talking about the product Evolution the overview of major new features and enhancements and demos overview of minor new features and enhancements this is an overview of the product and how we've evolved the cndb and csdm over the last number of releases you can see here in the Tokyo release a very brief outline of what's there generally this follows our family release but you'll also see added in here store releases family releases happen every six months store releases happen every quarter so you'll see those items in the store release are maybe with the family or in the quarter following the family release so first we're going to cover our major features this is the cmdb workspace this is an intelligent search capability that we've added just recently in Tokyo and it allows you to enter natural language queries to query cmdbcis and their related tables or related Ci's so it's pretty powerful so we'll go through a little demo of that to show you how that works the next thing we're going to be covering is also in the cmdb workspace called attestation the feature really allows you to as tests to the CI is in the system it's a little bit different than what you find in the platform capabilities for attestation it's really specified around the ability to attest a large massive amount of data of CIS for customers that need to do this kind of work a lot of them have created their own Solutions but this is an out of the box capability it also leverages the CMD data manager feature to be able to set up policies for attestation and to assign those to various owners here's an overview of the minor features and enhancements that we've added in the Tokyo release now this is the first page first is the IH ETL version 3 multiple improvements there a lot of our service graph connectors use the addition Hub ATL but it's different than integration Hub by the way this is a feature that is out of the box but you may require licensing for these cm to bcis being created so we'll go over those improvements next is uh the data foundations dashboard update this is a store release and the update that we are going to be talking about today we've added 12 additional metrics and so I've reorganized it a little bit to be a little bit easier to use next is the data manager this is a Cascade retire feature one of the things we've been doing is automating some of the cleanup of CIS and just more intelligently manage them so when there is a retirement activity on a CI we want to retire anything that's dependent on that CI as well so this is a new feature that we've added in data manager next is up is the cleanup of orphaned dependent CIS so one of the things that we've done is to clean up how the dependencies are processed when a policy is executed against the sea ice in any of those dependencies last thing on this list is the IPv6 support IPv6 is now a strongly typed field within the platform and of course the cndb we store a lot of IP addresses so uh We've we've addressed that capability and added that to the cmdb as well here we've got the CBD to manager new dependent record delete policy so this is where we are processing dose dependencies and making sure they're deleted when the main CI is deleted the next is a CMD Health dashboard performance improvements this is the out of the box help dashboard that comes with the cmdb helps to identify problems with the quality of the data and it's been there a long time this is a different capability than what we have in our cmdb data foundation's dashboard which I mentioned earlier this one has been out of the box for a long time the improvements are really around those instances that are domain separated so with any large customers with lots of domains this will definitely improve the experience there the next item is irony capability for optional identifier conditions but that really all is about is when the CMD receives information from external sources sometimes all of the data is not there and so we need to identify the CI through alternate means not maybe the the primary means that you specify for everything else so this just gives you more flexibility for erroneous or different types of data conditions and the ire process which is part of iagtl too last but not least is multi-source report Builder improvements multi-source is a feature of the cndb that when you turn it on it allows you to process and create rules for how data is merged together on the same record so what values to take from what source a lot of folks have that have multiple sources of data they need to be able to report on that data and to be able to understand where the data is going differently and that versus in One Source versus another source and compare and contrast that data so these reported improvements allow you to use the out of the box reporting now and gives you a lot more flexibility on how you build those reports and use them that's an overview now let's jump into the detail well the first thing I want to kind of go over is the CNB workspace capability for intelligence search we have an advanced search capability which is a basic CI search functionality um and this intelligence search is really more around natural language statements that you would make in a search phrase just like you would do in any kind of textual search context this natural language query allows you to search the CIS and dependent CIS and related records within the system it will basically take time however to make this a robust feature given the learning experience of what people might have as as aliases or the synonyms for certain CI so we're looking for folks to use this feature and provide us feedback which there's a mechanism to do that we'll talk about in a minute we also want to be able to process those queries based on the cmdb query capabilities the cmdb query Builder allows you to create a visual graphical query and set things like relationship types and conditions filter conditions grouping and what we want to do is in this particular feature leverages the CNB query Builder capabilities so anything the query Builder can do basically this particular intelligent search capability just creates a query Builder to run in the background so it is subject to whatever the query available capabilities are and so when you do use it and you do experience any problems you need to really look at any of the cmdb query Builder uh limitations for example it's limited to 10 000 Ci's by default that can be changed but of course performance may affect that so the key things here to to think about is it's easy for users to use the cndb Now to create queries and get data out it is just by default part of Tokyo you don't have to do anything it's activated as part as version three of the seem to be workspace and the nice thing is just type in a question refine the results and basically get data I find it very nice because you can learn about the structure of the data and how things may work or should work within the system but you'll also have to be wary about the data quality so if you don't have data of course you won't have good results in the search so let's jump into the demo here you can see I've got the cmdb workspace open you just go to your workspaces and you'll find this in the list of workspaces I am the system admin so I'm just coming in here as an admin to be able to show you the features and what you'll see here is the top is the search area I'm going to close this top area just to give us a little bit more room on the screen and what you see here is the intelligent search capability so right next to the old conditional search capability which is a little bit different so we're going to focus on intelligent search here but you have here is an open text area where you type your query and then you basically just press search and the results are returned you'll have some search tips that you can also learn about how to search and get more valuable results uh single table searches kind of what you're looking for there if you do have multiple tables this gives you some hints about how to do that any kind of advanced filtering criteria that you might want to add these are things that uh you would want to do to kind of restrict the number of results coming back and then of course there's relationships do you want to specify those relationships so you do know need to know a little bit about how things are related but you don't have to you can basically just ask for any relationships if you like to now in the left hand side of down below you'll see sample searches to get you started this is also configurable as an admin you can kind of put in searches that might be more popular or more common within your organization so this is an administrative feature to change those and on the right hand side of the list you see my recent searches and some of the things that I have searched for in the past so we're going to start by just typing in a simple search just to get us started and I'm just going to ask for all servers and hit the search button so what you're going to see here is a little pop-up dialog that confirms the CI type that I really want to query and as you can see here servers is the best guess however there are other CI types that it may be related to people call virtual machine instances servers too now those are basically set up based on synonyms and so those synonyms can be adjusted and this is the feedback we're looking for you to provide as a customer and we want to understand what are the synonyms that we need to add or change based on your situation if we have industry specific data that sort of thing so when we hit the certain view search results on this confirmation what we do is in this case because it's just a single table we get a single table view here and then we can export this data work with it however we want um and then of course go into each of these records one at a time if you want to or take a broader action based on the permissions and your privileges at this time on the right hand side just want to draw attention here the results feedback allows you to give us that feedback in the local system so if this results for not what you expected you can come in here and say you know the filter didn't work right or you know something happened with the table or node Builder um and then other so if you just have some general feedback like you know uh virtual server servers aren't really called servers we call them VMS you can Prov provide that feedback and then of course that is queued up on the instance on the customer's instance and that needs to be provided back to us by the administrator so the administrator needs to harvest this feedback we don't automatically collect this because there could be sensitive things in the search criteria or the results or even typed in here so we don't want to basically put any customers at risk so let's go back to the intelligent search option let's do something a little bit more sophisticated and I'm just going to choose something I've done before all servers with log4j software now again when we hit the search button what we're going to see is a confirmation screen for the servers that's that word that I used and then also software and here you'll see two possible software choices as well software packages or software instances I'm going to choose software instance in this case because I just know that's where my data is going and these choices will basically change based on the actual data that's populated so we try to allow you to choose data that's variable versus allow you to choose something that is probably not there so when you hit the review search results in this situation you'll see a slightly different result set and in this case you're going to see a different type of search result this is uh where we have all of the different uh objects that are included in that particular search but we also have this view in query Builder option so let's say you wanted to get some attributes from this particular Ci's that aren't available right here if you just go into the query Builder you can come in here and tweak those results and add attributes change the filter criteria add criteria add new objects but that that gives you sort of a path into the query Builder and allows you to kind of manipulate the query but that you had just built through a natural query language I'm seeing uh maybe I want the product name in addition to that information uh tags you know maybe maybe uh other things like when it was created so I apply that filter and run it again I will see a new column as a result of running this query and I could also say the query in the system but anything you can do uh basically in query Builder is available right there and you can see I got the new column there associated with the software instance so um this is really nice powerful tool to learn how to do searches to also learn their data kind of uh jump into other features like query Builder and continue to get value from your cmdb so for the last section I want to just show you a more sophisticated search so you can basically Traverse the I call it the whole thought Trail so let's try something even more sophisticated business all paper abilities I could spell related to the applications related to application services so in this particular query I've got a number of related items that are in a specific order and in a path when I do the search here you'll see is that familiar dialog but now there's three items to com to confirm capabilities right business applications right and also the application service and this uh this there's some things to keep in mind based on the data that you have the application service may not be in the auto table directly it may be actually something underneath that but let's see what happens if we do run those search results the application service types depending on what the data condition is here within the system picks up all of the other types and just to kind of show you that you see the capability the business application and you've got the application service down here you know these are the relationships and how they're actually related I didn't have to actually specify the relationship types I just want to know the where they're related and let's go on the carry Builder and let's take a look at one more thing the application service types are can vary depending on how they're managed and when I go over here I can kind of Select which column just to be able to get an idea what class I'm looking at and I can add that as a as a column and run that query again and I'll be able to see exactly what kind of application services are are to find that relate to that business capability and you can see all of them in this case they're not uh in the Base Class they're actually a calculated application service which is not directly related to the table that I chose it's a sub class of of the application service that I chose so there's some nice powerful features and I think if you when you play with this I would encourage you to get familiar play with it provide feedback and get to know your data you can see where there's issues you can also see where you have some opportunities to do things based on the the data quality and the data itself so that was a demo of the intelligent search capability so just a quick couple of slides that kind of outline what we just walked through we have a search phrase that you have to enter once you search the CMD you have to refine the CIS that might be chosen based on the the text that you entered and how those match up with the actual table structures then we have the review of the query which is optional if there is a more sophisticated situation with multiple tables involved and of course then you can see the results and go back and forth between reviewing the query and looking at the full results set so we added this of course be simply because customers really need to use the data in the cndb we want to liberate that we want to democratize the cmdb so anybody can basically come in within reason and get value of course how you activate this this is just part of Tokyo the CND workspace version 3 which you get when you upgrade to Tokyo or install though there's no license implications for this feature and anybody within the organizations can pretty much use this if they have access and there's no problem with that technically just a couple things to really note here the query syntax still requires some cmdb knowledge so you have to know what you're looking for and there needs to be some starting point feedback from customers will of course improve this feature over time so we really want folks to to use it give us that feedback we can only process what that seem to be query Builder feature allows and of course pour data in pour results out so that's critical we think customers that will now be able to take advantage of the cmdb much more liberates that and I think you know now that we have this natural language query people can learn as they go they don't have to be experts coming into this thing starting looking at you know over being overwhelmed by the class manager you're in figuring out where to start you can just start with basic text and learn your structure as you go so the next thing we're going to talk about is CI Anastasia this is basically a feature that leverages the CNB data manager policy for attestation that was added recently as well and when you set up a policy for attestation you define the criteria who gets the tasks when either station criteria is met and the different parameters like the due dates it does not replace the irm or APM manifestation capabilities that we have out of the box it does require the cmdb data manager policies to be set in order to be able to execute these station tasks and the plugin in the cdb workspace for the San Diego release is 2.2 or the Tokyo release which is version 3 of the plugin uh there is a neat feature called Auto attest basically it's a smart detect feature that allows you to look at anything that's been discovered and allow you to just take that for your at a station criteria so if you trust your systems a record that populate the cmdb for those situations and you have discover your service graph connectors you can take that out of a test option how that looks right here well when you do get your attestation tasks you'll see those tasks assigned and then when you have a situation where we have a detection that you have brought data in automatically from an automated Source will provide an option to Auto a test so we'll show you that in a minute in a demo but the key thing here this allows CI owners to attest that their data is accurate it's there things are working as planned they does require that data manager to be users and turned on so something to keep in mind and it is policy driven so you have to think about this in terms of attestation policies very similar to how you'd want to enforce any rules uh for audits for example a lot of people need the CIS in order to execute audits in GRC or irm for example so let's go look at the demo for attestation okay so here we are we're going to look at attestation and we're going to start with the servicenow home screen for the workspace cmdb workspace and then down here there's a new button in the version of the workspace on Tokyo and version three when you click on this what you'll see is all of the assigned tasks again once these tasks execute they're assigned to you and in this tab you'll find the attestation tasks down here at the very bottom you'll see one for infrastructure and it's to me the system administrator and this one is Tesla notable computers that I might have the responsibility to manage within the organization so here when I open the task you'll see a overall highlight of the activity on this particular tasks you have some people doing work on the background my colleague Tony Branton was in there you got the CIS to review total of 56 of them and none of them have been processed yet so up here at the top you can of course cancel this tasks if it's something that was done by mistake I don't want to you know it's not mine that the policy will run again and be assigned you can also resign to another specific user or basically send back to the admin to reassigned to somebody else if this isn't really my job when you review the CIS to a test this opens up a new dialog and what you'll see right away is a smart detection that says wait a minute two Ci's were automatically detected and the criteria for that detection is based on how long ago it was automatically created through a integration or LCM which is a service graph connector or Discovery process and that the smart detection will detect this and you can just say you know this is something I want to do auto attest this what we're doing is we're just looking at the fact that this data is coming in fresh from a data source hasn't been around for years and I can just rely on this to test those CIS that are fresh in the system uh so I just want to also caution you if that system is also reporting inaccuracies uh we can't do anything about that we won't know we'll just know that it's being discovered or that came in through a service graph connector and we're just uh trusting that that's real uh so of course when you go ahead and you can say we want to review it those CIS that we've identified as automatically can't come in and there's two of them that were looks like they were discovered and mostly at least in Discovery date was 920 so just recently so this is something we can go ahead and auto attest we can just say attendant Auto attest all those assets that just came in and that'll get rid of the two of them out of that whole list have it tested the other ones might require additional work or or validation because they might be older so this allows you to export the data if you want to run around or you can kind of open up these records one at a time investigate what's going on um yeah so now this kind of opens up the whole CI record and you can see activities and other things that might be associated with it just like any other CI record um when I come back to the to attestation tasks and I'm just going to refresh the screen you can see I've already taken a few down from the 56 and we're going to go back into the the list here and we're just going to pick a few of them uh you can also change the rows that you see so let's get it all of them on one on one page so all 54 are now available so you can basically say yeah you know what I know these haven't come in through Discovery but you know just kind of browsing through those these all look relatively new they were last updated a few years ago but uh so that might be a trigger a problem but that's something I need to be able to investigate or test to I can also reject the 54 and that will actually go into the record and that can be used later for any kind of audit purposes you can exclude them if they if you want to if you say you know these two I know I want to exclude from the assessment process and of course you can explain why that is and I would capture that information as part of the iodization process um I'm not sure why these are here uh and of course you you can remove duplicates if you want to if there are duplicates obviously with good quality data there should be no duplicates but that can happen from time to time if not you go ahead you can attest all 54. now you'll see on the right hand side my progress has gone to 100 attested and I should be okay um I'm going to submit that and there's a little bit of an overview on what we've done we've tested for 54. we've excluded two some of those were Auto tested that's great because we have discover your service graph connectors in the background close this dialog and we are done with our task yay so that's the uh basically cmdb CIA test that it at a station in a nutshell uh there's not much more there's a little bit of on the uh administrative tasks to worry about but that's just setting up policies dealing with people that may not get to their tasks in time like that you know never happens and things like that so uh that's that's pretty much adaptation in a nutshell okay coming back to our at a uh presentation let's go down to the next thing this is just a quick overview of that attestation process uh the fact that you'll get these tasks in your queue that's part of the CNB data manager's job to assign those tasks the attestation tab is on the left hand side of the cmdb workspace you'll see the task there as you open that and of course there's a bit of a break on the trail on the user experience and then of course if there is a smart detection situation a little dialogue it comes up said yep some of these Ci's were Auto automatically created or refreshed from a Discovery Source or service graph connector and then of course you you see the list of Ci's to a test and you basically see your progress on the right so why did we add this attestation of CIS is an important aspect for some customers not not all of them I do look at those customers that are in highly regulated Industries this becomes more and more important because these Ci's are the basis for regulatory based assessments that happen as well so no good CIS you can't do the other regulatory assessments well you don't want to confuse this with other attestation and other features in GRC or APM for example where attestation is part of an audit process and so just keep that in mind how you activate this again just period of Tokyo just upgrade it is uh the cmdb workspace version 2.3 from the store so that's the other option and there's no license capab needed for this so you don't need any kind of special license but a Target is really those CI owners in those regulatory highly regulated markets um so that's kind of where it's used most and the technical some of the technical things to keep in mind is cmdb data manager does need to be turned on activated to Historic so you'll need to learn about that how to set up those policies not not terribly difficult but they need to be done and of course the data manager requires a CNB activation plugin to be turned on as well some people have asked about life cycles do I need to migrate to the life cycles when I turn that on no you don't have to turn on that lifecycle migration feature but it is something you want to look at as well so before really we have a lot of customers that do this with their own custom solution or they try to use the out of the box out of station features they don't scale they don't handle things like smart detect for massive amount of automatically imported data so those are the things that you want to keep in mind and now they can just use the CND data manager and get the job done foreign features that we've improved on ihtl version three and so here just a Litany of things that we've done here um so what you'll what you find here is we can now filter and complete data sources so when we do have data sources that aren't complete don't don't have complete data we can filter those that data out we can also run ihtl in what we call a read-only mode that's when you don't have the data source available but you want to test the the connector just to make sure that it seems to work previously it would only run when the connected Source was available so this gives you sort of a a way of looking at how the connector works and basically how the I how each ETL can actually be run even if the data source is not available yet um we also added a conditional lookup capability the conditional lookup capability kind of uses a alternate lookup for the primary keys for primary data and so if you have for example a data source that gives you some data keys in one value and another and other keys in another value you can have conditional lookups to get the right value for identifying what the primary key is for that data source a lot of other things there's a delete confirmation option that's kind of powerful uh what ihtl can do is automatically delete things off uh in the background automatically and what this allows you to do is to tie it into a process and allow a human to confirm the deletion so don't let lesions happen just automatically from the data sources you can you know kind of steer that towards people to make that last deletion confirmation other things worth mentioning here is a support for conditions on nested Json values we see a lot of data that's nested and we are all able to build those nested conditions more intelligently based on that structure of that data um also some of the improvements like user experience when you're building out some of these Source native keys are presents and we if we don't specify that we can't identify what the key is the igtl job won't run properly so we're just kind of tightening up the user experience to make sure those things are all done properly before you save and execute the transformation so really what this kind of summarizes is that ihtl is a critical part of customer scenarios especially service graph connectors all are written using ihtl so we want to continue to improve how this works and how connectors can bring in data from various sources nothing is really needed in terms of a Tokyo upgrade process things will just work and the old configurations for ihgtl which is kind of poured over things that might trip for example that you when you open it up an older ihtl job that you have set up the uix might validate the source native T for example and that allow you to save until you do that we continue to support of course more sophisticated scenarios and so ihtl is a critical part of our investment strategy just some pop-up of some of these capabilities so you'll see more warnings basically in the user experience you'll see some things like skip reclassification with certain scenarios there's an automatic classification capability you can skip that now based on the data conditions and then of course conditional filters uh you can kind of run those conditional filters for lookup based on the data quality itself next we have updated data foundations dashboard this is a dashboard that was added a number of releases ago now it's available in the store it is the first major release update that we've had the existing one's been out there for gosh probably what year a year and a half I guess and what we did was we added 12 new hsds these are hell scan definitions so and now we have a total of 38 hsds out of the box so not going over all of how the data Foundation dashboard works but it's nice because they've been reorganized a little bit to better take advantage of how that data is kind of grouped and really the the categorization kind of has a section there for Best Practices customization section data management practices and itsm processes which allows us to better understand data quality impacts to other features of products that you might have at the customer so you'll see the uh customization section here um this is the second tab next tab that that is there is those itsm processes so anything here for example we look at changes or incidents referencing CIS if if we have a lot of incidents with no reference to CI we kind of ask well what is it against so we're trying to look at the data quality that the cmdb is being used as appropriately in itsm and if not of course you can look at those issues and and on the recommended Playbook what we can do is tell you what what to go back to look at within those products or maybe they seem to be a self and how to improve those scores the the concerns for health of the data is continuous as data comes in or needs to be purged or it becomes erroneous because its orphan data uh these hsd scores are are becoming much more robust and providing the playbooks to fix things along the way so a lot of self-help here built into these reports we've also improved the performance of some of these htsd calculations just to make it run faster in the background these things usually run Once a Night it recalculates all those hsds and we track the changes over time the next thing we have is the cndb data manager Cascade retired event seis this is a really nice feature because we have the dependent relationships in the CI class manager in this case you'll see we have a hardware and a memory module which belongs to the hardware on the battery module is not is not managed independent of the in the hardware when it's retired for example so we use the life cycle stage and Status Fields these are the new cstm establishes that were added uh back in the room release I think it was or even earlier than that these are can be set up and synchronized with the Legacy statuses I would recommend you doing that in order to take advantage of this feature so when the main Hardware CI goes retired what this feature does is it makes sure it updates all of those dependent Ci's so the memory module stages and status is updated as well as the main CDI so this follows the workplace the same workflow process now is the dependent CI so to make sure that the life cycles are accurate and consistent with their contained item this works for like things like blade servers if you're going to basically retire the entire blade servers versus just the blade all of the blades will be sort of retired as well as through that process this is automatically enabled Acron upgrade of your system so just don't worry about it if these dependency rules are exist life cycles start changing and they will just Cascade those so basically changes down into those dependencies the next thing to talk about here is the orphan dependent CI cleanup and this is a situation where we may not have processed all of the dependent Ci's like the memory module we just walked through and what this is a a job that runs in the background you should only have to do this once if you have Titan management of those dependent CIS and the other policies that the cndb manager provides so this uh once it's enabled you can schedule it to continue to run in the background in case anything happens so uh but ideally you only have to do it once um it's only only dependent classes are processed here which means that the main classes aren't going to be processed only the things that that are orphaned that were dependent on a class that's no longer uh there if it's dependency is no longer there um so this actually does improve the health scores so if you look at the data the CNB did Health dashboards you know the data foundations Health dashboard this is a common cause of issues so a lot of what we're doing is baking in the best practices of you know purging dependencies for example when the main CI goes away are are being automated within the system the job name is just clean up work and see eyes and again you can execute this once if it's just a one-time thing or just put it on a schedule and it will keep the deletion process going if anything ever happens foreign manager feature as well and we have a new dependent records for deletion so this is very similar to what we talked about for dependencies before but this is going to work also for non-cis okay so something to keep in mind deplete we can do a new policy type here in the data manager delete CMD related entries these are going to be things like installed software that aren't Ci's or any other CI set might be created as part of the the import process those related entries of course uh you basically identify which related entries to Target in this case we have keys a key table that's related so if there's keys in the system that haven't added those are not CIS then we can delete those when the main CI gets deleted so we don't orphan records outside the the main Ci or records when the CIS are gone there's a subflow option so just like some of the other workflows that are optional in the policies that you set up in data manager you can kick off a workflow so you can validate the data is really truly needs to be deleted before it's deleted so things to keep in mind you need to turn on the data manager you need to set up these policies create one for this little delete CNB related entries and then uh basically publish and run that in the background the next feature we have is CMW Health dashboard this is the health dashboard that's been in the system for a long time comes with the CMB by default it does have its own enabling processes separate from the data foundations dashboard in this case what we did was we improved the performance for domain separated instances when there's a lot of domains we do have some customers msps or corporate customers that have created different domains for different business units or subsidiaries things like that so for the health dashboard we were seeing some slowdown on the performance of the dashboard and what we've done is we've really gone into the guts and improved the queries and improve the process times and we are now performing when there's more than 100 domains created so we've tested it and we don't see any problems with any of the customer instances and the number of domains created so if you are domain separated you're seeing issues with data quality reports like this one um for the Sim to be this gets you to uh up to the point where it now performs how you activate that this is just basically automatically installed as part of the base platform upgrade so nothing nothing really exciting other than the fact that this thing runs now and in an expected time period with lots of domains IPv6 IP version 6 was added as a base type within the platform and then as a result we basically added it and updated all of our cmdbcis that had IP version 6 as well the key thing here is it's strongly typed and it supports different types of IPv6 formats there's a number of different ways you can view an IP version six IP address and it and when you're doing Compares it doesn't matter you know it's it's strongly typed so we can compare it previously the IP version 6 was just a string that wasn't strongly typed and that string can go in in multiple ways but still represent the same IP and so that has been fixed you can do comparison drafts it just works if it comes in in one format it could be viewed in a different format natively this also that was updated on the other features like the multi-source reporting so you can spot discrepancies in IPS that come in from different sources for example and the documentation for this feature is all part of the platform documentation which is available so just go into the platform search for IPv6 and you'll find the docset for that so those customers that are relying on IPv6 they now have this 100 supported now within the platform current IP addresses are automatically created upon upgraded based on that string to IP strongly typed conversion process and any data source of course using IPv6 as the type will probably identity be identified so matching for example will work fine if that's what you want to use as a primary identifier in your ire jobs things will just work foreign to be fields and tables that are impacted so there's not a lot of them but the where where they are appearing this is just a quick list for reference next thing we have to talk about is ire optional identifier conditions and this one is really there for situations where you have different identifiers to to use based on the data conditions there's an identification rule that's in the class if you go to the class manager and this is where you would set up those rules when you open up the identifier entry you'll see now a new option to set the the optional condition at the bottom and of course based on that optional condition it will use or not use certain identifiers within the data set so we don't want to use blanks if there's no name for example you might default instead to description or an IP address or whatever happens to be the next option in that identification rule so this is just a bit make it more robust for what I would say messy data Imports or on predictable data Imports so which we find with certain data sources so this is all of course used as part of your Discovery process or your service grab connectors that come in to to use this we do have Asis property that needs to be enabled for customers that upgrade the reason for this is that the by default you yeah customers may not want this Behavior based on the current data they already have so if you don't enable it you won't get this feature so just keep that in mind the next feature is multi-source report Builder updates and multi-source Reporting this is a big area for us in uh in in the current situation where we see customers with lots of distant sources it could be Discovery and a and one connector with let's say secm or New Relic but the key is that we needed to provide better reporting because things go wrong sources may or may not jive with one another so we were we went into the multi-source reporting capabilities and we had to kind of refactor it quite a bit until to make it more robust also to add capabilities to leverage out of the box reporting PA and reports builders for the data sets that we have in the multi-source data so uh it is a new user experience to administer this so you have to go in there set up those reports so something you'll have to learn um not hard but it is more in line with out of the box reporting it does require that multi-source is enabled to generate this data not every customer really realizes this this is a feature that needs to be enabled it's not enabled by default what I would recommend as soon as a customer has more than one source of data that's when they should go in and enable this feature where's the discovery service connectors like I said and leverages that out of the box reporting capabilities the other thing to mention is there are a couple of new roles that were added to be able to administer as well as use these reports there's a cmdb underscore Ms underscore user editor and admin roles that are added so if some folks can get the data just for read only purpose some people might be administrators and go in and set up these reports so you'll you have now an option to basically build use these reports depending on your role and that needs to be also set up with this new feature now one of the things I did want to mention because multi-source reporting continues to be a focus of our investment the capabilities that are currently out of the box are not in the new user experience what we're doing is we're adding a lot of new features in the cmdb workspace and coming into November release the store updates for the symbi workspace we'll have a new multi-source landing page and query Builder capability within the workspace so as we consolidate different user experiences that this seem to be provides into the workspace you'll just see that workspace get more and more fleshed out and of course this is a more modernized user experience for the customer base and of course the store update coming in November means that what you have all those improvements will just get moved over you'll see them just in the nicer user experience foreign but last but not least in in the summer here with the last few minutes we have the service graph update uh this is there's a lot of service graph connectors we have we have 33 I want to say as of uh today service craft connectors in the store this is just a summary of what we have planned currently and yeah Early Access or beta a couple of things to note one is the new AWS connector that's now available in the store that's that's downloadable New Relic is now EA Early Access The Arc is now GA so that's Now new added to it info boxes plan that's been added Palo Alto is now Early Access dynatrace is GA that's um now available for everybody Ms Defender has been added to the list as planned pencil one has also been added as planned and tenable is now planned as well so those are all the major highlights to this list and we try to keep it update but we realize that the roadmap changes all the time this is all predicated on part Partners assistance as well as customers testing and giving us feedback to look at the store for the late this inventory we'll be working on making sure that we have better messaging on the service graph connectors because it is a a constant flow we've also encourage customers to subscribe to updates in the store so they know when new ones are available or the ones they're using are updated thank you for attending this session
