Configure form view in the Service Portal | Form widget | ServiceNow

Import · Sep 11, 2022 · video

hi everyone in my previous video we saw how we can navigate to the portal view of the form in the service portal itself though the link to the form that portal form where we were able to see the portal view is not directly available in the portal we had to change the url and change the id from ticket to form and the view we had to make sure that the view is sp when we open that form so that we can do the service portal view of platform in the service portal now in this video we are going to concentrate on how we can include that form page somewhere in our portal so that we have a navigation available which is easily available for end users or the employees of the organization who are willing to navigate to the form in the portal side of things itself rather than the platform view so this is the same ticket which we created in our previous session so let's do one thing i am going to navigate first to the incident form in the portal and let's go to the home page and if i open let's say one of the incidents so this is one way i can open the incidents and another one is i can go to the request and here not only the incidents i will see but i will also see the request for the other teams available over here so like one example is this one here you can see this request let's open the same incident and i think it will be good if i can somehow show that form view on this page itself because we already have a navigation available to this ticket page and we will we won't have to do much customization maybe adding a link by adding a custom widget on the home page itself so i think this is going to be the easiest when if we have to configure that form on this uh ticket page itself so let's navigate back to the platform view and i am going to standard in the application navigator and i will go to the standard ticket configuration now in the standard ticket configuration we have few options available but i need to do something with the incident and this particular configuration is available as part of the service portal standard ticket application scope which you can see towards the top right of the screen now you can see that there are certain tab configurations available one is activity and the second one is attachments which you can already see here activity and attachments now if i have to add a new tab i can simply click on new and i can say type as let's say custom and the tab name would be form or you can give whatever name you want to give may be form view portal view incident or something like that based on your needs and the widget that i want to configure for this purpose is the form widget and i think i am all set it's just that i need to change the order because for the activity we have an order of 10 and for the attachments we have an order of 20. so if i want let's say this to be available in the end i am okay with 30 but if i have to show it in the front i'll decrease the order so once this form is saved now we can navigate to the portal now if i reload the page so you can see another tab is available in this ticket page itself where i can see the portal view okay and there's a couple of things that we need to check over here so as of now it is not showing me the portal view it is showing me the default view while that is happening we need to check that now because i want only the portal view to be available over here so if i go to my tab configuration again i could see i have only passed a widget so by default it will take the default view into consideration if we have to redirect it to a specific view we need to specify it as the parameters so here we can specify the widget parameters so my parameter would be let's say view is sp because that is the name of the service portal view in the back end and if i save it and after reload i will be able to see the portal view of the form in the portal rather than the default view so still activity attachments in the form so this is the actual portal view and i think it also makes sense that instead of showing the form as the third tab we show it as the first step based i mean that is by default for the user experience if we want to have a good user experience for our employees or customers then i think it makes sense that we have that as the first tab and if i navigate to the portal again and i reload the page so you can see that all the same fields are visible that were visible in the portal view of the things and even i can update anything from here also if i want to so i just updated the short description to test incident portal one and let's see if i navigate to this incident from the portal uh home page is it going to be the same yes it works perfectly fine so thank you so much for watching
