[Music] chuck tabassi here with another did you know to save you some time now i'm sure many of you know about the list filter in the core platform ui to filter and sort list records did you know you can use shortcuts in the list header itself i use these all the time and i love them check it out let's use our favorite example list the incident table when we use this magnifying glass icon we get these search fields at the top of the list okay first example let's find all the records that contain email in the short description we type star email or as unix geese would say splat email in this field at the top of the short description and hit enter let's also do this add another filter to the list of just the p1 incidents that contain email in the short description for that we go to the priority column and type equals 1 space dash space critical notice that we have to use the display value and not the actual value typing equals one doesn't work for choice and reference fields and to that i say thank you who would want to type a sis id after all and check it out the breadcrumbs at the top are keeping up okay let's click all in the breadcrumbs and clear out all that and do another one let's say we're looking for the incident numbers that end with two we use the percent as a wild card and two boom the same is true for starts with we wanted all the assigned twos that start with david so we go to the assigned to column and type david percent now in case you were wondering you could also do contains like this percent email percent but i'm here to show you how to save time so i ask you why do two percent signs instead of one asterisk you don't so there now here's one more for you the exclamation or bang character can be added before splat and equals to indicate does not contain or does not equal a quick reset again and watch this we'll get all the incidents assigned to everyone but the network team with bang equals network and to have more fun we'll look at all the short descriptions that do not contain the letter a with bank splat a why because we can now chuck you say what about empty fields i want to find all the incidents with no assignment group thank you great question i respond to that we use the query equals no there you go try out some of these list filters keep your fingers on the keyboard and see if they save you some time too
