hello everyone and thank you for joining us today i just wanted to let you know we'll get started in just one minute at the top of the hour when everybody's arrived thanks okay i think we'll get going hello and thank you for joining the webinar today i'm deborah mcgrath i'm a senior technical product marketing manager with servicenow and i'll be hosting the webinar along with thomas camacho who is a senior principal outbound product manager with our spm business unit and i'll let thomas say hello in just a minute um i just wanted to let you know that we actually have a very brief 10 minute webinar for you today where we'll provide a quick overview of digital portfolio management um from our side from our perspective and how spm supports it followed by a two-minute introductory recorded demo of digital portfolio management with spm capabilities from our recent san diego broadcast release which we thought would be of interest to you and as always we'll save a few minutes at the end for q a but please feel free to submit questions during the webinar um as well and while we're confident that most of what we'll be discussing and showing our features that are available as of our san diego release i've included our safe harbor notice that this presentation may contain forward-looking statements that reflect the current beliefs of servicenow all based on current information available actual results may differ materially and should not be relented upon and making purchasing decisions um so thomas i'm going to turn it over to you now welcome thanks for joining us hey deborah thanks and yes welcome to everyone i'm glad you joined us today on the session so we're going to talk about digital portfolio management as you would refer to as dpm and and what the impact is for strategic portfolio management spm so a couple of things with dpm it's really about showing that holistic view and as you all are aware is if i'm a solution owner or an application owner i may want to view my particular complete full life cycle of my application or service so dpm really gives you that centralized view that allows you to view that full life cycle so whether i'm referring to you know starting off with an idea walk through demand and projects and then it may turn into some level of operational like issues and risk and those things that come up what is that full life cycle view and that's really what dpm does it gives you that great visual representation across the complete life cycle and it is just just to point out not only we're going to show you that view but how do i make decisions based on that view and that's really where dpm's power comes in is it gives you that power to not only visualize but also to help make those better decision decisions budgetary decisions on your uh application so on our next slide um we're going to talk a little about of some of that core functionality i know we're going to show you a demo but i want to walk you through some of that core functionality that you get with with vpn the first thing is on dpm as you can see on this screen is it is unified so it is a unified workspace and so if i'm a solution owner and let's say that i have a traditional enterprise portfolio i could select that portfolio and all the applications and services that already align to that portfolio it gives you that view across that portfolio so like it's like i said it's that holistic view however the power of dpm is it does give you the ability to go create that personal portfolios and really the power behind that is is you we know that in your organization portfolios may look differently so it could be different application it could be different services so dpm does give you that capability to really create your personal portfolio and then see that work and across your complete enterprise based on your specific portfolio so next slide and then once we get into that specific portfolio that's really kind of the leveraging of dpm really comes into place is because now i can begin to look at any application any kind of service that release that portfolio but we connect the dots and that's really the in my opinion where dpm really comes into great perspective for your organization is we connect the dots of stm apm and of course itsm it connects the dots to really bring that together to visually see where all that work and all that product is aligned and then our last slide i wanted to walk you through is what does that full life cycle mean so uh in this example you could see the whole plan build run um this whole structure was built on the flow of a life cycle so if you're on traditional sdlc you may start off with a planning and what is happening as an organization what type of work is being planned for this particular personal portfolio or this application i've selected what what is the actual plan work that's on it and then you can see what is actually in that build so what are we currently working on from a product or an epic what does that look like and then of course as we move through our sdlc you may move into the run is what type of operational events are occurring on this particular application so really as you can see the power of this particular tool gives you not only great visibility but it really is going to help you align your organization to that complete sdlc so these are kind of the highlights that we wanted to point out with dpn um you can see there's great visuals great charts great drill downs and i know i'm not showing you that necessarily besides but if i wanted to drill down and look at activity and details all of this functionality you get within dpm and really the power of the of leveraging our platform as a whole so debra i think we have a quick demo we're going to walk through and just kind of illustrate what this actually looks like we do thomas and appreciate it i'm going to switch here um are you seeing hold on a second so you're seeing that the demo teed up is that right yes perfect yeah and just to let everybody know so we do have a team focused on digital portfolio management one of the the great things about it is that spm really helps to power that so while thomas and i are from the strategic portfolio management business unit we did want to let you know that there is a whole team that can drill down on this with you but one of the things we did um with our recent san diego release broadcast we actually created a um just an overview and it it does a good job of showing you you know how spm helps to power dpm so we thought we'd play this um demo for you um thought you might be interested in this so let's just give this a listen with digital portfolio management or dpm product and service owners have a holistic view of their services all in a single configurable easy to use workspace each product or service detail page is presented around life cycle management in a plan build run structure that organizes relevant information from servicenow strategic portfolio management and iit service management applications the plan tab shows the relationship between a product or in this case a business service and any plans related to that service here they can promote ideas prioritize backlogs and seamlessly drill into alignment planner workspace to manage their portfolio roadmap plans where they can view the status and details about their portfolio planning items as well as track the overall progress of those initiatives they can also view and drill into related ideas demands projects and epics that are impacting the product or service in the context of what they're actually working on today the build tab shows details about active projects changes issues and improvement initiatives for this business service run provides a snapshot of current service performance including in this case the latest customer satisfaction score and an offering breakdown with details about overall availability new incidents and number of service subscribers product and service owners also have quick easy access to information about the product or service insights including the service description and other general information about the service finally from each of these tabs plan build run and info they have access to any incidents changes or other tasks related to the product or service that need their attention digital portfolio management helps bridge application silos by providing product and solution owners a single configurable workspace with a holistic view of the lifecycle of all of their organization services including plans related work that's in progress and performance snapshot of the overall status helping them to more easily and more quickly make more informed decisions so the person during that demo sounds an awful lot like me so that was our a very quick two-minute introductory demo i just realized we're more than happy to make that available to anyone that needs it but in addition to that we just wanted to first of all i wanted to say thank you thomas for that great overview of digital portfolio management especially i'm highlighting the spm features and i wanted to also take a minute to invite everyone on the call to join us on the last thursday of every month when we present a webinar on new strategic portfolio management capabilities or enhancement to existing applications or how we work um across um across servicenow with other applications as well like digital portfolio management our next webinar will be on thursday may 26th about the enterprise pmo so just a holistic view and discussion about a successful enterprise pmo and you can view this webinar again and access any of our previous last thursday's webinars on demand from the spm forum at community.servicenow.com and as far as digital portfolio management goes please visit the digital portfolio management product page where you can access additional information collateral including an overview data sheet and we've provided i think aaron is providing the link to the community site as well as the links to our digital portfolio management product page and the data sheet in the chat window is that right aaron or thomas i'm going to say that's right i can't see the chat render right here and at this point i thought i'd turn it over to our q a in case we have any questions in the last minute or so of our our short webinar today i see two questions in the chat and let me answer those uh four seven so the first question is this how did the business service relate to the portfolio let me state there are two ways for this to be accomplished one way is is if you're using the out of box portfolio within whether it's itsm or even apm you can relate your service to a portfolio the other way is within that personal portfolio that i had mentioned you could create your own portfolio whatever that means to your portfolio and then you can begin to relate services to that personal portfolio so that's not like a standard enterprise portfolio it's a it's a new portfolio that you're going to create and that you're going to name and you begin to relate your business services applications products uh to that portfolio so that's uh that was that first question and then the second one uh was this is how does this business partner uh or how does the business partner interact with his tool set and let me just say that we most certainly can provide if you don't have this this plug-in of dpm already installed in your instance we emotionally can get that uh set up for you uh matter of fact my key role under a strategic portfolio management is our partners so please reach out to me and i'm gonna put my email address in this chat and let me make sure that you have uh access to this um uh dpm so i'm putting that into right now and so please reach out to me directly and i'll make sure you have access to dpm and get that installed on your environment thank you thomas um i'm not sure if we have any more questions but we're kind of running close that's all the time we have for today um thomas was there one anything else that you needed to address before just one last question was on it what is the difference between spm and dpm spm is strategic portfolio management which we changed the name from itbm to spm okay so that's our new branding our new name strategy for full management and did dpm stands for digital portfolio management which is what we just went through today which is that that really that holistic dashboard that we just went through thank you thomas and that's all the time we have for today thank you again everyone thank you thomas and thank you all for joining us thanks everyone all right did we close
