have come next but question 18 developer developer experience is improved and human error reduced with this handy way of managing json in the ui builder brad better get these last two right also is it name value pairs complex objects json builder or json editor the back story for this one is this functionality exists because someone was on live coding happy hour and saw us trying to use [Music] json in ui builder and saw how difficult it was and had the engineering team build this thing which was pretty cool are they going to build a uh they're saying we're struggling with these questions can they help with that absolutely yeah was that was that chris does he need a shout out because it is chris yeah i talked to him earlier today yeah lisa said i haven't been on break point yet oh take a drink she just wanted us to drink get lisa on break point we'll get her there we're gonna happen we'll get her there she did do a video on decision builder though which was really good question 19 want to actually go first because um uh set the stage for um it also uh earlier i didn't really introduce myself i made a joke but um most people know i'm earl duque i am a developer advocate i'm the newest developer advocate uh soon to not be the newest developer advocate once we backfill brad's position that's right um but uh i came from nonprofit uh higher education um kind of like i i did a lot of stuff within the uc i did a lot of stuff in my past few positions um and i i had the capacity to start reaching out to the community and start um building stuff for the community building stuff for fun um and then suddenly i was in this position i went from like a small team small universe or not small university but the non-profit all of a sudden i'm in service now big company uh my head spinning trying to figure out what to do trying to figure that all that out and rad was my like it sounds corny but brad was a was like a rock in a a hard storm for me um and was a very steady person for me to always let me ask questions and uh when i think of a person that does dev advocacy and a person that actually builds relationship um it's hard for me to think of that as my of myself because i'm more of the personality of i'm an extrovert i um i talk to masses of people and stuff like that but brad talks to the individual and i learned that very quickly from him and i learned that very deeply from him and uh as people were talking about like oh you're team build and stuff like that and i always um i always reference brad as like my older brother now and he's become that for me and i i really appreciate about that um for him and why it's important for me to tell people watching the show because this is we're live coding happy hour this is developer advocacy like what does this have to do with anything it has everything to do with it because if we are not simply relationship builders then i don't think we're doing advocacy correctly and so if brad has helped me teach um helped me learn about that then i want to make sure i'm embodying that as we move forward from uh from having brad on our team and i think his impact is gonna be lasting here because of those kind of lessons that he's taught myself and others and um i wanna say i appreciate you brad and um yeah i really appreciate you and i'm going to stop talking now to somebody else go thanks also are we going brad brad for me was one of the people that really encouraged me into being part of the mvp community i would say because i was just randomly floating around in the community kind of you know the community of servicenow has always been something that is very uh very accepting of all different people if you go on to the actual service now community forums you can always get help you'll see people if you need help you get help and i just started doing some stuff on youtube and i remember like brad and ajb just turned up on my stream one day and i was like what the hell what brad's on my stream and then actually brad came on my stream and uh thanks for that brad that was really nice and i remember i got some feedback from somebody because i brought brad on and for me like brad is such a legend i didn't even introduce him or ask him to introduce himself i was just like brad's here and we just cracked on with ui builder and someone said to me you didn't like who's brad i was like what do you mean who's brad you can't ask who's brad it's brad tilton so you know brad is a legend in the game and he has always been an advocate for for the the developer community from my perspective very supportive uh he always gets dms from me asking questions about next experience and i'm very happy that his next role allows me to formally ask him questions about that stuff and he's done an amazing job to really um really kind of enable everybody with the next experience so it's a perfect fit and thanks brad yep thanks so uh like the first interaction i think i remember with brad uh like you know at a personal level i know brad has been there in the community you know helping everyone so i think the first interaction i was signing up as an organizer for developer meetups and i need to get my access sorted so that's when it was the first time i'm not sure if brad remembers that but you know the team contacted that i'll get in touch with brad and you know that's how we i interacted with that the first time and since uh the 2022 fdp cohort you know it's been a short journey but it's been great and uh i know right you're still there so i can lead you out for next experience ui builder and everything so thank you thank you it's me um i will go in 2016 or 2017 when mvrs was you know launched um so my that was the first time when i read the name brad tilton because it was his article which is i think having millions of views now already it's kind of crazy yeah that one article has a ton of views yeah so my first interaction with the name brad was there so i actually used that article till the date and that is the article which is in the bookmark now also so that was the first interaction with the name but when we interacted with you in person was uh during dev mvp program so that was my first interaction with you the great part is you're always available for everyone to help because i think i'm asking you all those silly questions about the photos about the swags about everything what i can ask um [Music] and then the exciting part was our podcast where we me andrew actually came to know many things about you and we felt more motivated and thanks for that and uh i think you will not get away from me at least i will keep coming because i'm a big fan of ui builder i'm doing that so i know whom to contact that's brad so yes [Laughter] forced to mention swag yes because i have asked him many questions also around that maybe so yeah but he never uh got frustrated with it he's very humble i should say that and he never gave some weird was asking some question on community and i all i was talking about with chuck also when when i joined servicenow community brad chuck these guys were like on top like kind of celebrity of service now community so i joined and when these guys used to answer right so i was like i was not caring about the solution what they i was thinking how to reply them with the either with a thank you brad or with the smiley or whatsoever so that was kind of my first interaction with brad and it was like i i was always following him around on community and as ashutosh already mentioned about a lot of articles so whenever i go like there was a place where i'll find brad's answer so thank you very much for what you have done for us in the community as with the deaf program and we'll definitely miss you here but uh yeah i know but you will stay in connect so thank you very much again brad okay i'll go next part firstly thank you your encouragement advice content have led me to places where i never thought i would go uh not only you have been a fantastic mentor to me but you have taught me how to mentor other people as well so thank you for always being there for me and you're not getting any release from my annoying questions and i remember uh the first interaction i think as every other developer would be through community but my first uh if i could recollect correctly i was around our mavericks group where we were trying to make mavericks official or something like that but yeah that was fun i mean at that point i was not that much focused about taking mavericks to that level or something but i was excited that i'm gonna speak with you on video and all so that was my first interaction but yeah you have been always supportive and everything man and as i mentioned you are not gonna get a release from my annoying questions for sure and now not only the you have one contact now i have two contacts one is ashley and one is brad if there's anything on ui builder i'm just gonna paying these guys so once again thank you brad for everything is it my turn uh not a lot of people know the story about how brad and i met it was about 2010 we were sharing a prison cell developer community i think we're pretty unique in that a lot of companies like they're really pursuing all of these people to try to get them to be excited about their products and we just like inherently like people are excited to build stuff on servicenow and you know part of that is servicenow but we have this really incredible developer community that has really been an honor to serve and and that's like a real like i really feel like that that serving the developer community has been really incredible and for i mean almost every single experience i've had with servicenow developers has been a really positive experience and it is not something that's going to end uh i i posted something on linkedin and i forget who it was that commented and i thought you know one of like my job is changing in in that i'm focused on next experience but i still plan to be an advocate for servicenow developers in the next experience space i've been doing one-on-ones with our inbound product management team like this week and next week and then in future weeks and one of the things that i want to do is set up better you know communication and feedback from developers to our experience coming we've been recording a lot of the breakout sessions in hands-on labs so those will be available similar to how they have been for the last couple of years you go to knowledge.servicenow.com i believe the hands-on labs will be through now learning somehow i haven't figured out quite what mechanics are this time around but it'll be the same as it as it has been in years past yeah uh anything creator con related should be available digitally before the conferences actually start and then knowledge stuff i think they're going to record on site and make them available later so that's not going i had a question somebody asked me a question i forgot um is there a hackathon this year for knowledge creatorcon because obviously we've got like these local events but is there a hackathon what's happening hackathon-wise we've created one everyone's gonna bring there may be a fall hackathon with all knowledge events but that's earl's in charge of that ask him there might be a there might be a summer one for meetups slash online virtual and then there likely will be one for the falls when you say when you say seasons though do you mean what who's whose season is it because if you're in if you're upside down in that's fair our seasons are going by oh i see what you're saying the the q4 the other one yeah yeah don't forget there are there are meetups
