[Music] hey everyone it's justin thanks for watching in this video i'm going to talk about a little known feature but if you use it everybody will be thankful it's called delegate so i get asked this a lot hey what happens if i'm out of the office or i'm not available and i don't see an approval or something get assigned to me how does servicenow handle that and really it puts it in the hands of the users the admins can do this too but you as a user of servicenow can go in and set up delegates for specific time periods and the specific actions you want the to be delegated to them so let's jump into it let's show you what it's all about i'll call your attention to the upper right hand corner where we have our user profile so we can look and see the system administrator in this example my pdi but you as a user should be able to go to your profile and that will take you to the user record now this defaults to the self-service view which doesn't look like you have much to work with there so self service i can see all these things what i want you to do is i want you to change the view from from self service to default so if we go here you can change this to view and then default now your system administrator may change the default view you land on it may not be self-service or they may have rearranged the fields on this page what i want you to look for when you change views is a specific tab that's there by default so someone had to hide it if it's not there and that's down below for delegates so you can see down here this is where you come in and configure your delegates for when you're out of the office or otherwise want someone to take care of it it's simple let me move my head out of the way there and show you this new button and you click new button and it will pop up a form and we just have to fill out and it's really simple so we set who the user is that this would be you and then who's going to be your delegate let's use old abraham and say lincoln is going to take care of look at this my approvals my assignments my notifications and my meeting invitations from this date to the end date that you see below so from april 26 of 2022 to january 1st of 2100 abraham lincoln's gonna be live a long time he is gonna get all my approvals all my assignments all my notifications and meeting invitations now you can do this as many times as you need so notice that was a list of delegates that i could have down there so i might want to have somebody take taking care of it you know the next 100 years or whatever that is for that particular one so this is a list i wanted to show you right here so you can add as many of those as you want um and that way any approvals assignments notifications that are coming in your absence are going to go to the right person and get taken care of so that's it for this video i hope you liked it if you did please like please subscribe or share it with somebody you think might be interested until next time i'll see you on the next one [Music] you
