ServiceNow flow designer tutorial to revert the version | ServiceNow flow designer version history
[Music] hi all and welcome back to the another tutorial so in today's video we'll be looking on to how we can revert a flow version so basically a lot of people are familiar with the workflow okay and on workflow we have a workflow version which is a separate module only so if i go to the workflow workflow versions and from here you can sim easily revert back your workflow to the previous version right basically so if you if you are not liking the modification you have done to the flow workflow at certain stage and you want to revert it back to the previous stage then it's pretty easy from this module now i got a lot of queries from the subscribers stating that how we can do the same with the flow designer when i was trying to explain the importance of flow this was another point which they have and they have raised that it's not possible in flow that we we meant in versioning or it's not possible over there that we revert the flow back to the previous version so it's possible not that sim straight forward but it's possible and in today's tutorial we'll be seeing how we can revert the flow back to the previous version okay or we can say how we can shuffle within the versions okay so let's go and let's try to find some flow so i will go to flow designer so this is my personal developer instead and i will try to open it out in the new tab so this is a flow designer and over here we have one flow called create problem okay this is just a dummy flow which i have created uh in the past okay let's see what exactly it does so i think it's loading it has a trigger statement and the trigger statement we can say from here is like problem created where category is software so whenever the category of problem is software this particular flow will trigger okay and what this particular flow will do we'll look into the actions i don't remember exactly what exactly it will do so till then i will till the time it loads let's open the problem also so we have problems also and i think it should it got updated so what is the trigger condition first of all we check okay so this is created created on what ideally it should be on problem table while the table is not there let's check this out okay i'll check this out so it's created on problem let's deactivate it out and okay it's it came now so the trigger point is created on problem table okay whenever record gets created on problems table with the category is software what exactly we are doing over here we are just updating what i think it's still loading we are updating the description with this is a test description pretty simple straightforward flow okay now let's give it a try first so it's already activated so we will go and create a new problem with the category as software okay and let's see if it works so i will select the category as software and i will give the problem statement and this is the dummy record okay and if i save this out so as per the flow it should populate the description also let's see i will i will simply reload it out okay to see if it get reflected and we can see the description is there this is a test description perfect okay now if i change this out in the flow so if i simply go over here i deactivate the flow deactivate and then what we'll be doing this is this is description test description right so we'll change it out and we will do it like this is what this is just a fun activity something stupid which you want to revert okay after some time so done i will save and i will activate it again activate don't show me over this and if i so it's activated now and if i go and create problem now so how i will do i just remove this url it will go to problem.2 and if i again select the category as software and problem statement as this is the main record okay and if i save this out so ideally now we should be able to see the new description which we have given over there okay so let's see i will reload the form so this is a fun activity now this doesn't look good right and this is the query which which is raised by a couple of people now how to reverse this back on the previous version so i can see the version over here i i can't see the version for the flow over here let's try to see if there is some the flow subflows action execution connection help nothing over here i can't revert back to the previous version right so how we can achieve this so it's pretty straightforward so you have to just go to a table called says underscore update underscored version dot last i will do so this is the table where all the versions of whatever records we have versioning enabled so all the version gets stored in this table now how to find the flow over here okay so what you have to do you have to simply go to the flow just this is the record right create problem so you can right click on this and just do the copy society once you do the copy society and you can simply do star paste and ideally you should get the word versions of your uh flow so you can see all these versions right so this is a current version will go we are interested in the previous version so i will open the just recent version okay so i will open this up and this act like a version control only so you can simply go so this the version which you can see show related records and this is this this is the version right and here you can simply where is that you can simply see if you if you if you right click it out right this is the insert an update and if i you can compare it to the current version from here if i click on this so it will not authorize to update this record fine we are not updating any record out so here you can see the difference oh this is active inactive thing right we have deactivated out we don't want this version let's not go with this version so before the activating this was the version right that's why i was not getting this option previous version if i go configure ideally there should be your action revert to this version right so we want this particular you action let's see where exactly it's hiding so this particular this is a global application dtt but deployment oh my current scope is blocking it out got it so i what i will do i will just change my scope to global and if i go to the updated version now and if i open the third one right from here so here you can see now revert to this version so you can simply compare the version out okay compared to current which will go give you a complete insight what exactly happened so this particular version here you have made it was selected version was inactive you have made it active and you change it out over here what changes we have done let's see that also so here it was attributes something do not here you can compare the entire thing also we want to compare this is ctrl f this is quite tricky this is not the record which we are looking for now ideally it should be there so from here i once you get the record so you have to just find the relevant record which is relevant to you so for me the relevant like record will be is there any other thing which you can pull in action dtt tags no so basically what you have to do you we will go to the base version only okay and we can revert this back to this particular version so you can simply have revert to this version and this particular thing will revert the flow back to the original version you can say okay so now your your flow got updated to the previous version now if i go to the floor designer and if i open the create problem once okay and if i click the update one so now the funny one got updated the previous version okay this is an description so in this way you can revert your flow back to the previous version okay it's not that easy like workflow where we can simply find a model dedicated to it okay you have to just compare everything each record out and then you have to revert it back to the original version okay hope i answered the question how you can revert back to the flow okay and probably this will help you to move from workflow to flow design because it's really amazing to use those things out okay so this is all for today's tutorial hope you like it out if
