hello and welcome to the now platform san diego release features update for strategic portfolio management my name is ryan kaiser i'm a senior digital solution consultant focusing on strategic portfolio management and today we're going to talk about alignment planner workspace and goals framework today so for alignment planner workspace we wanted to modernize the look and feel as well as get on a unified navigation we wanted to enhance planning and tracking to maximize outcomes for your business through number one creating and tracking milestones at the work item level for projects demands and epics to focus on outcomes number two improve program increment planning by creating epics in alignment planner and breaking down into features using safe boards and lastly number three scale agile planning and connect visual road maps to teams executing in azure devops so you may be asking why did we update the alignment planner workspace we wanted to drive visibility and insight into progress towards important milestones at both the enterprise and work item level as you see in the updated alignment planner workspace you now have some new capabilities starting with a view at the roadmap level all of the work item level milestones are there select each milestone for detailed view including name approved start and end dates and percentage complete fields you can also access the complete detail view for all milestones this includes name date and status as well as being able to add new milestones directly to the roadmap item the milestone legend also includes added details for milestone state and existing grouping color definitions heading over to the alignment workspace guided setup this easy step-by-step guided setup provides a streamlined approach to set up alignment planner workspace with instructions provided for configurations needed to help ensure a complete setup the guided setup includes easy to use planning hierarchy templates for whichever methodology you use whether it be traditional project portfolio management utilizing waterfall method hybrid or safe as well as integrating with azure devops allowing you to synchronize a host of metadata we're also going to go over the goals framework we updated the framework to manage and align to organizational vision through first creating goals and setting targets against goals as well as evaluating progress to accomplish your vision of organization secondly define strategic priorities and associated goals for the organization as part of those strategic plans and lastly associate work and planning items such as demand project and initiatives within goal management you can create track and manage goals align those goals to strategic priorities category and planning organization you can also create targets and sub-goals and relate those goals to demands projects epics initiatives and big rocks by leveraging alignment planner workspace you can group your roadmap by strategic initiatives and goals create and show initiative milestones and also add additional bar fields thank you for joining me today in reviewing the now platform san diego release focusing on strategic portfolio management alignment planner workspace and goals framework if you have any further questions or want to review more videos on the san diego release please head over to servicenow.com
