[Music] hey everyone it's justin thanks for watching in this video i can't believe it i just did one on alignment planner workspace and i'm already back with an update so if you haven't seen the first one check out the link above um servicenow released version 4.0 of alignment planner workspace on may 5th so i've got the up to speed got it installed so i can show you what's new and uh kind of leave off where or pick up where we left off in the last video so you'll notice right away or maybe not that the menu has changed over here actually we didn't have the menu before so when you landed an alignment planner workspace you just saw the roadmap so we have two new features they've added goals and backlog but there's some new features on the roadmap that i want to show you before i move away from it number one is some visual cues around dependencies so in this case i've got an exclamation point saying there's a dependency on the sales performance dashboard and the sales performance dashboard if you notice is actually scheduled to start after this particular project or demand is kicked off so it's seeing a conflict around dates and times for that particular one if you wanted to set a dependency right so let's say this sales pipeline predictive analysis we can actually change um what it's dependent on by coming in here in this new menu um so all this is new over here on the right hand side and i can go and i can say hey i'm going to go more and then dependencies and i can add a dependency for this particular domain now if i wanted to make it dependent on something that's showing on here i would pick a particular planning item and planning items or what shows up in the alignment plan or workspace so let's say this sales pipeline predictive analysis also depends on the sales performance dashboard so we'll just pull that up looks like there's two of them it pops in the planning organization i hit save and now i have a dependency between those two things so you'll see again we've got exclamation points indicating that hey there's a dependency between these two things but something's wrong it's out of order but we need to there may be some conflicts for those two dependencies right so bringing this to your attention you also have some different ways to view those dependencies so on the left hand or the right hand side i'll move my head out of the way you see down here on the bottom right dependencies we can view the dependencies if i turn that off they go away i can do dependency lines between things so i'll clear that out you can see this nice little line swinging around and if i were to click on one of them it kind of brings it forward over over the demands so it's not obscuring the view but if i was a hover over i'd see that dependency and then i can say hey i only want to see things with dependency on this particular roadmap that i'm looking at so that's some personalization there between those things now what does it look like if we were to go fix that right so the sales performance dashboard let's just take this sales pipeline and just move it down to start you know maybe in august or something so now we've actually cleared up the red exclamation points between the two dependencies and we see that dependency number one is between these two things now if i wanted to fix the the one at the top here with the exclamation point here i could just drag this to start before the sales performance dashboard actually just start after it so if we bring it forward here and start it after that happens we should see that actually clear up nope it's not clear enough so let's take a look at that dependency and see what's going on so we're dependent on the sales performance dashboard and it is in conflict um not sure why there because i've moved it forward in time so we'll just go ahead and i'm going to say delete that dependency between those two things and now we'll no longer see that dependency between those so we've got a dependency still there that we've built um but i've gotten rid of the other one that was given that red exclamation last thing on the roadmap before we move on to goals and backlog is filtering so now you can come in and apply a custom filter for what's showing on your planning hierarchy roadmap so if you come down here to the bottom right there's a new update filter button we can click that and it'll bring up the filter in the middle and we can add anything we want uh we'll just say and you know the cop the capex the budget all the stuff we know about these particular planning items we've got all these filters that we can run and of course bit being serviced now you can not walk to other things uh within the platform other tables that are related to the table we're looking at in order to apply that filter so roadmap got an update nice features to have their dependencies seeing and things that are dependent on each other that way when you're moving around the roadmap you know what the impact is let's take a look at a couple of other things goals is something new to san diego they introduced the goal framework well now instead of managing your goals like i showed in a previous video through the classic ui and now we can do it with an alignment plan or workspace so this is brand new this did not exist at all before if you look here i've got not just my goal but also my targets i showed that the previous video as well where we can shut targets and see how we're progressing towards our goal and what that percent complete is if we were to click on one of these it does swing open also behind my head a panel to actually look at the goal we can jump into the full details from that panel and see all the stuff that's associated with that goal the targets any sub goals that would have been created underneath this particular goal and any aligned work so what projects demands epics and stuff has been aligned to that particular goal so we can see all that in the details tab or i can come back and just look at the pin um panel that's showing there so i've got that there on the right hand side um i can also see comments and attachments for that particular goal as it's showing up on there and if i wanted to edit the actual work items from here you can see there i've got a button that's going to pop open and i can edit the work items associated with this particular goal so we saw that same demand and project when we looked at the full details there so that's the goal stuff these cards up here too they can also be used to jump uh towards these goals um if i wanted to view the happy employees i can just jump in and see all the information about the happy employees and what that goal is and sub goals this particular one doesn't have any targets associated with it but we are eight percent uh complete um working towards that particular goal to being completed last thing here i'll just show you can hide this for the organization goals and you can change the planning periods what period you're looking at for these particular goals and we can create new goals directly from here so we can get started we can associate a parent goal put a name on all that stuff right here from alignment plan homework space last new feature in this new release is the backlog so in the backlog we can see let me actually click on it there in the backlog we can see things like demands and projects and stuff that are in a particular backlog so we've got this nice little group by feature up here at the top and i had it pre-filtered by planning item so i'm going to remove that filter or that grouping and we can see now here's all the different projects different demands their dates and times we can of course change what shows up on this particular view if we go to our settings here yeah you can see that mostly behind my head we can turn things on and off and we can shade the alternate rows if we want to see things you know a little bit differently when we're looking at it if we wanted to group like i had in the beginning i could just grab a column drag it up here to the grouping it'll now group all those demands and all those projects by the planning item type i can group by different things too maybe i want to group by the planning state or now we know okay there's three new things in here that we need to go look at in order to do our planning so lots of flexibility there around looking through the backlog rearranging things in the backlogs i can pick things up and move them around i can click on them and open them up and view all the details that i might want to see about that particular demand relationship to goals milestones what it's dependent on remember we made those dependencies on the roadmap earlier so tons of new features in alignment planner workspace i think i covered most of them but just your takeaway is new goal framework now available in alignment planner workspace an enhanced backlog for you to work through all the things that are in the backlog and start doing that planning and then changes to the roadmap as far as dependencies and filtering and what you're able to do on that particular roadmap
