hello i'm john hose advisory solution consultant it business management at servicenow over the next few minutes i'll demonstrate two key benefits of the servicenow portfolio workbench the portfolio workbench significantly reduces the time and effort required to produce project and portfolio health reports and it helps business leaders better plan and save money with greater insights on planned versus target project costs the portfolio workbench provides portfolio managers with a central location for viewing a list of associated portfolio demands and projects and has capabilities for planning portfolios and tracking their progress the portfolio manager megan burke wants to check the health of the it application modernization portfolio she's presented with a prioritized list of the associated demands and projects for fiscal year 2018. megan wants to look at fiscal year 2019 to review which demands and projects have been selected for execution for this fiscal period as necessary she can access the links in the left pane to revise target costs adjust which demands and projects are selected for execution and review budget and forecasting details now megan wants to track the progress of the selected demands and projects in the portfolio to the right of the screen are summaries of how the portfolio is performing in terms of plan cost versus actuals and how resources are being consumed in terms of allocation versus actuals the workbench also provides her with information relating to key project controls including risk issues and project change requests when reviewing the portfolio megan can see all the selected investments in the portfolio these can include programs projects and demands the gantt view on the right hand side shows the scheduled performance of each investment including the tracking of key milestones which are shown as white dots on the gantt bars exception indicators alert megan to where the plan cost exceeds the budget the information indicator highlights programs in the portfolio with demands and projects that are part of other portfolios this gives megan the ability to review and track external dependencies more closely as well for more detail on how her investments are performing megan accesses the project kpi tab this provides a summary overview of the latest status summarized against key metrics such as the budget schedule resource and scope for all the investments in the portfolio hovering over the status indicators shows megan the most recent comment of the appropriate status and clicking on a project name will allow her to drill in to view the latest status update details for that particular project we just demonstrated how the servicenow portfolio workbench helps portfolio managers reduce the time and effort required to produce project and portfolio health reports that provide greater insights for better portfolio management planning and cost savings for additional information visit servicenow.com itbm
