hello i'm deborah mcgrath senior technical product marketing manager with servicenow in this video i'll be demonstrating enhancements to the servicenow scenario planning application with recent uncertainties that have forced changes across corporate enterprises it has become more important than ever for portfolio managers to be able to easily view prioritize plan and replan their investments including where and when they deploy resources enhancements to the scenario planning application now enable portfolio managers to quickly simulate and compare multiple scenarios for a single portfolio or for all portfolios across the enterprise for greater flexibility in planning additional filtering capabilities provide even more precise information about resources budget and business goals for even better decision making and integrated funding enables you to easily move funds around when confronted with uncertainty to ensure you're achieving the best outcomes let's take a look at how we'll begin the demo logged in as a servicenow administrator administrators can now choose scenario planning scope and type planning scope which enables them to choose to do planning for one portfolio at a time or for all portfolios across the enterprise combined they can also select either annual or flexible time frame planning in this release organizations can do multi-year flexible planning using timelines that are not specific to a single fiscal year demands and projects can now be selected for their entire duration and portfolio managers can engage in continuous planning using ruling planning periods of variable length once planning type and scope are selected portfolio managers can create targeted scenarios using filters that help them refine the list of demands and projects to be included the filter restricts which records appear in a list on the bubble chart timeline and resource views by providing a set of conditions each record must meet to be included in the list they can now toggle selected items to display just the demands and projects that have been selected for execution or select unaligned investments to view demands that have no strategy or goal associated with them it's now easy to analyze a portfolio based on monthly or quarterly resource capacity or just look at the resource groups that have been over allocated as selections are made the details for this scenario are automatically updated including total spend number of investments selected financial benefit online projects over-allocated groups as well as any actual spend from in-flight projects that are deselected and would not continue in this scenario if you choose override to confirm a scenario budget will automatically be allocated to the selected demands and projects in this scenario and you'll have the option to also automatically approve and convert selected demands to projects confirm resources for selected demands and projects and unconfirm resources for unselected investments and if strategies change or if any of these elements change such as funding or resources you simply re-plan as necessary you just saw how enhancements to scenario planning provide greater flexibility for single portfolio planning or enterprise portfolio planning spanning multiple years even more precise information for better decision making and integrated funding to easily adjust investments to drive desired business outcomes for additional information visit servicenow.com itbm
