How-To Add a Visual Task Board to a Dashboard in ServiceNow
hi everyone it's justin here with crossfuse and i have another great use case that came up on a call with a customer real simple to show you how to do this and that was can we put a visual task board on a dashboard um the idea is that the dashboard would have things that are related to a particular department maybe i'm going to go do some kind of review with them and the customer wanted to know well can i get my visual task board that is so helpful to me on that so i can review it with that department when i sit down with them i was like sure that's super easy and i want to show you how super easy that is so let's get started first i'm going to create a visual task board because i don't have one so here i am looking at my incidents i'm just going to show all the new ones so we'll just show matching on new incidents and we'll group by assignment group and i'd like more than just a couple so here we've got technical services support so i'm actually going to show matching on that and i'm going to ungroup this so now i've just got my technical services tickets and to make a visual task board i'm going to look at the states and i'm just going to say show visual task board that will take my pre-filtered incident table there and go ahead and preload the dash or the visual task board now this is going to be because i right click state it's going to have the swim lanes as the state of these incidents so i could move these around to put those in different states and it needs to prompt me for more information it'll prompt me for more information importantly in order to get this onto a dashboard i need to grab the url for this particular dashboard so it is actually behind my face so let me creepily move myself over here and if you look i've got this share over here where i've got the url so i can just click on that control c and now i've got that saved on my clipboard and i'm going to use that when i'm going to create my dashboard so let's go ahead over to creating a dashboard and we'll say dashboards and we're just going to start a new one from scratch if you already have one you can do this and add one to it but the point here is to show you that it's possible to add visual dashboard so demo vtb on a dashboard i'm not going to restrict this or anything i'll submit and now i've got my dashboard and the first thing you want to do is we want to add a content block to that dashboard and i'm going to do static html so basically if you know and i don't know if this is technically accurate but basically we're framing in a visual dashboard into our into our dashboard so let's do a new static html we're gonna click add that's gonna add this here and then once that's on my i think it was iframe i was joking about iframe and i needed to have no iframes okay let's add a new iframe add that in here and save that and click here to configure it and we'll call this demo vtb i'm not going to give the frame a name but i do want to put in that url and all i really need is this piece right here so um everything else is just the instance name um so to make this you know multi-instance proof if i was moving this dashboard around i can get rid of that instance and now i've just got the reference to the visual task board we'll hit submit and now it's going to load that visual task board on my dashboard now it looks like i need to adjust some widths and everything so let's go ahead and bring that down here and then i'm just going to need to reconfigure this width here to be exactly what i want so let's just call this i'm not sure what my how big i want that so it's 400 right now let's go triple that so let's go to 1200 and see how that looks much better okay so i've got my visual task board i can scroll it around and it's on my dashboard and i'm good to go so hopefully this is helpful if you want more ideas like this or want to talk through something give us an email at let's talk crossviews.com hope you enjoyed
