Table Builder | Overview

Import · May 05, 2022 · video

This video describes Table Builder and shows its special features. Table Builder is a new product that combines App Engine Studio Table Builder with Form Builder in a single interface. You can easily build tables and configure forms using configurable choices, dot walking, and more. In the base system, you can access Table Builder from UI Builder, or within App Engine Studio. It’s your main tool for managing tables and forms in the Now platform,... ... and you can use it alongside legacy tools like Form Designer
and Form Layout. Let’s take a look at some of Table Builder’s special features. For our example, we’ll open a table within our app in App Engine Studio. You can easily edit tables by adding fields. You can also change field properties for a particular application, or globally. Here we add a new field to a table within our application and choose the field type. In the Form views tab, you manage your form views, which are different forms based on the same table. In our example, we based our table on the Task table,... ... so the default view is the default task form. You can create a new view, which adds a new empty form view so you can build it from scratch,... … or you can duplicate an existing view to edit. You customize your form views using the simple
drag-and-drop editor interface. You can add and arrange sections, fields, and annotations from the table you chose. The configuration pane lets you customize
the display logic for a field on your form. You can configure UI Policies for your forms in the UI Policies panel. In our example, we want to make the Assignment Group a required field for tasks with High or Critical priority. You can review your forms while you edit them
to make sure your changes work in your environment. In our example, we test our UI policy by changing
the priority to Critical or High. The asterisk shows that the Assignment Group
field is now mandatory. In the Policies and Rules tab, you can also
see other related policies and rules,... ... like access control rules, client scripts, business
rules, and workspace view rules. Table Builder tracks all your changes, so you can undo or redo any actions since you last saved the file. So, Table Builder combines a table builder and form builder in one easy-to-use interface,... ... making it simple to develop tables and forms on the Now platform.
