hi this is mike gomez i'm an inside solution consultant here with servicenow and today i'll be telling you all about the new features in quebec for it asset management our key differentiator at servicenow is our single platform and in quebec we're leveraging that platform to give you visibility into all your id assets whether they're hardware or software and whether they're on-prem or in the cloud so starting off with software asset management we're giving you more visibility into your cloud spending and recommending additional ways to get the most value out of your licenses i'll focus on these cloud and optimization items first and then discuss some additional features we've added we've introduced a new product that's released called cloud insights that's aimed at helping you manage your infrastructure as a service and platform as a service deployments our goal here is to give you broad visibility into all your cloud investments from a single executive dashboard our bring your own license feature helps you manage the on-prem licenses that you bring to the cloud in quebec we're providing support for windows and sql server licenses in your aws and azure clouds the goal is to give you a single view of your license position across your environment we also have reclamation workflows so we can notify you of any compliance or cost issues and let you take action right from the platform we've added support for red hat in this release we have processor license metrics for both red hat linux enterprise and virtual data center this will help you see if you're over licensed for red hat or if there are any compliance issues with your deployments we've also added optimization suggestions for both red hat and windows for different virtualization use cases so depending on your infrastructure needs and what licenses you have we can suggest alternate configurations of your virtual machines to help you get the most value out of your licenses next up is an enhancement to our sap publisher pack we've added an optimization for the name user licensing scenario so we can look at each user across your multiple sap instances check the type of transactions that they're carrying out and see if maybe they could use a less expensive license to get their work done in paris we introduced using single sign-on providers to manage sas applications with initial support for azure and now quebec we've extended that support to octa so for any application that your users access through octa we can provide a list of users user groups and last login types this will give you broad visibility into a large number of sas applications and allow you to automatically reclaim unused subscriptions in addition to octa we're also introducing five new direct to vendor api integrations for smartsheet slack github page or duty and go to meeting these provide detailed usage data what we call last meaningful activity so with smartsheet for example we can see when someone last updated a document and give you recommendations about what type of license would be best for that user we've improved our sas overview dashboard some of our customers have multiple subscriptions of the same sas product for different departments or business units for example now our dashboard breaks out these subscriptions so you can see usage and spending for each one we've enhanced our now mobile app to support software asset management end users can already see the hardware they've been assigned but in quebec they can see their software as well and to support cost savings in the business we're allowing them to easily return software that they're no longer using right from the mobile app an important part of our sam solution is this process of normalization which involves recognizing the software in your environment and adding more information about it unrecognized software gets sent to our content team and it may take a couple of weeks to create new recognition rules and get them downloaded to your instance with quebec we're adding machine learning into this process so that we can give you results quickly with high confidence and then our content team will review them and adjust if needed so this will get you faster time to value for your sam implementation finally we've improved the user experience around product lifecycle data we provide dates such as end of sale and end of support for a number of products as part of our normalization previously that data was linked to the specific versions of a product that you had in your environment but now we're linking those dates to the product in a more general way so it'll be easier to see life cycle dates across versions all in one place moving on to hardware asset management or introducing more asset flows these are prescriptive workflows that give you all the tasks you need to carry out common business processes as our technicians complete the tasks in these flows we automatically update the associated records we've implemented these flows in our low code flow designer tool so that you can easily adjust them if needed we've also enhanced our mobile app to cover more use cases and we've made some improvements to inventory management as well our hardware asset refresh flow helps you replace the hardware in your business as either a one-off request or as a project where maybe you're refreshing an entire department we provide you with a service catalog item to kick off the workflow and allow you to replace multiple hardware models at once we've also added a new field called useful life which lets you determine which assets are eligible for refresh our loaner flow helps you set aside a portion of your inventory for temporary use we have a catalog item so your users can request an asset for a certain period of time and then we provide you with a flow to manage this process preparing deploying and reclaiming the loaner assets we also have reporting that displays loaners that are overdue and can send notifications to users you may be leasing some of your assets and in that case we can help you keep track of expirations and manage end of lease activity so you can avoid penalties we notify you of upcoming expirations and we have specific workflows that kick off depending on whether you want to return extend or buy out your lease and for returns if there's any additional settlement amount we allow you to issue a purchase warrior as part of the flow and record those expenses against the asset moving on to our mobile features in paris we introduced the hardware disposal flow and in quebec our agent mobile app can now assist with this process during a hardware disposal it's important to verify which assets are supposed to leave the business and whether or not they actually do so we allow you to scan in all of the hardware you plan to decommission and then we check to see if anything is missing or if additional assets are being included so you can confirm everything is correct before proceeding with a disposal in orlando we allow users to see the hardware they've been assigned and report issues with it from their now mobile app in quebec they can now confirm that they've received a new asset so when you ship an asset to a user whether it's from a warehouse or directly from a vendor will notify the user that the item is in transit and also when it arrives then they can confirm receipt by simply scanning the item's barcode with their now mobile app this feature helps you track where your assets are in this new work from home environment moving on to our inventory features in quebec we're introducing asset bundles this could be useful for deploying equipment to new hires or maybe you have auditors or consultants that need a standard kit when they visit a site so you can take a group of assets assemble them into a bundle and then manage that bundle as one record you can execute all the standard actions against the bundle stocking reserving deploying retiring and all the assets in the bundle will be updated but the bundle is also flexible so you can swap out individual components if needed these next two features benefit all itsm customers who use the procurement plugin previously when you went to fulfill a request you could either purchase an asset or issue a transfer order with quebec we're taking into consideration where the requester is located so if you have an asset in stock at that location you can easily deploy the asset and update the records without going through the transfer order process we've also made it easier for you to update a multi-line transfer order so if you're shipping a group of assets together you can update a number of common fields all at once rather than having to update each line individually so to recap with software asset management we're introducing cloud insights and helping you bring your microsoft licenses to the cloud we've added optimizations for red hat microsoft and sap we've added more sas integrations including support for octa and also more features for software asset data and providing visibility to the end user on what software they have for hardware asset
